Instructional Content
Independent research has shown that the program significantly increases vocabulary, language, and letter and word identification skills for English- and Spanish-speaking children. BLL is integrated with science, social studies, math, writing, music, and other curriculum and content areas.
Print Awareness Nina, Reggie, and Leo expose children to different kinds of print and literature genres. Students develop an understanding that print and illustrations carry a message, and they recognize the sequence and flow of stories. Children learn that books are handled in certain ways and that print is arranged from left to right and top to bottom.

If I say Simon says, they will not do the action, just say the word. Purpose of my designing: children can keep their attentions in limited time. The game can avoid the boredom from the pure machine drills. It creates the conditions of a relaxed and natural atmosphere for children鈥檚drills. To. And what matters is how you raise your child. Xue Yong: Yale history, now the Department of history of Suffolk university teaching, the careful observation of the comparison between Chinese and western education, the Yongyou Xue "who University", "education", "the United States stepped Chinese not always for the world", "work every year on the Ivy League", "learning proficiency for Officialdom" etc.. Today, Xue Yong accepted an interview with the China Youth Daily reporter. Reporter: Mr. Xue Yong, you have been devoted to the study of Chinese and western education. May I ask what interest you are most interested in seeking advice from the state on the educational program for the next 12 years? Xue Yong: 12 years of compulsory education is very important. I'm afraid it is more important than college education. Some studies suggest that when people are seventeen years old, the development of individual intelligence is basically shaped, and then education improves skills and knowledge, but little effect on IQ development. Before age seventeen, especiallybefore the age of fourteen, plasticity is strong. Education at this time has the greatest impact on life. So, correspondingly, the education of students in high school is the most critical. In this stage, I'm afraid that family education is more important than school education. How to do a good job of parents is the guarantee of the competitiveness of the Chinese people.I saw a car window in Boston, saying: "one hundred years later today, you now drive what car, live in what house, how much money earned, have become irrelevant.". And what matters is how you raise your child." That's why I'm writing this book. Your child is at or discuss with reporters: as you said in the book "a year on the Ivy League", in Chinese University, foreign carry out good classroom discussion mostly effect is not good, what is the reason? Chinese need to learn western good education, but easy to imitate, with only the shape of the God did not learn. What does this have to do with the education before the university? In primary and secondary education, how to overcome the tendency of authoritarianism and cultivate children's spirit of exploration? Xue Yong: first of all, to discuss whether the classes are well developed abroad can not be generalized. I meet a lot of silent students every term. It's a cultural issue. So I mentioned the book "unequal childhood" in my book, so I named my book "Ivy on one year old.". The Ivy League includes eight of the most prestigious universities in the northeastern United States: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Connell, Brown, Dutt Maus, and pennsylvania. I use this concept in my book as a symbol of what the ideal education is. The Ivy League students' quality, especially in the discussion in class, the quality of thinking such as off the reel spring, are raised, not to the Ivy League school in the present. For example, the book "unequal childhood" confirmsthis point in one aspect. The book reveals that the good educational background of high family, childhood and children speech special equality, we have different opinions to be discussed, sometimes even adults seem to give children to buy what toys or clothes are not right, to seek the child's consent. In this way, the child will discuss the problem with his parents as soon as he can speak. They are not even used to the way of education without discussion. On the contrary, the relatively poor family education for children, always with a commanding tone to speak, parents have the authority of the child will mean what one says, do not know anything that needs to be discussed in order to understand, they are accustomed to waiting to hear someone else's instruction. For example, recently, the New York Times talked about the problem of black society,One of the data: 94% of black women thought it necessary to discipline their children with spanking. My daughter is three years old and we shopping together, she is discussing what mom and dad what to buy clothes for myself, when I saw a black mother of their busy pick clothes, children in infant car crying, she turned to yell: "shut up!" The daughter looked, her eyes wide open, can not believe such a thing. This is a typical comparison of "unequal childhood". This is not an economic issue at all. Our daughter, in fact, is going to have a seminar with us in order to buy clothes. The children on the edge were scolded when they were not yet able to speak. "Shut up!"!" Will you expect her to open her mouth when such a child goes to college? Of course, the difficult days after her success. Chinese problem is that some education very high levels of parents, accustomedto the children, to children by rote, mean what one says "do not even have become" belief. How can you teach children when they are young, and when they go to college, they will suddenly discuss it? The discussion is the child to the community before the combat training reporter: do you have explicitly rejected Tangguan education, repeatedly stressed the important discussion class, even advocated from childhood to give children the discussion class". Why discuss the class of students than Tangguan students better? Xue Yong: Well, when I was teaching, I kept talking to my American students. I asked them to think of a simpler question: you go to work in the company, and you have a meeting to discuss business strategy. Why do you show your value? Are you sitting there, just like in the exam oriented education, waiting to answer the question exactly? Or offer your constructive advice to make your eyes bright? After graduation in real life and work in the scene, you rarely need to answer questions like the exams at school, can be said that most of the students after graduation have no answer questions with "multiple choice" mode of experience. Society is good, hiring your company is good. What you want is your idea and your creativity. No one is so keen on checking what you don't know. What you need to know is what you know and what you can contribute. For example, when you should build a supermarket in a certain area, you'll stand out from the local consumption capacity, traffic conditions, shopping habits and other aspects that such a plan is not good prospects, make everybody you to change mind, made a great contribution. People don't need you to answer, "what's the population of the place?"" "How many buses does the bus have?"" And so on, because you can see through the information. Why should I ask you? I specifically asked my students to check out the website ofBoston Consulting Group (Boston Consulting Group) and see how the staff of such large companies work. According to the description of the website, the working style of the staff is very similar to that of the discussion class at the university. For example, the owner of a German car company asked, "I'd like to build a SUV factory somewhere. What do you think of the prospects and the risks?"" The Advisory people from GDP, all sorts of gossip, increase the employment rate, the purchasing power of consumers, oil prices, has been to the environmental consciousness of consumers, family size and life mode, and government policy and so on, almost everything. Only youIt is not enough to answer the question exactly in the major of automobile manufacturing. You need a very wide range of knowledge, and you need to translate this knowledge into dynamic insights and contributions to society. So, rather than the big lesson Tangguan, discussion class closer to the social reality of the mode of operation, more practical, more natural and effective way of education. Reporter: now, the bonus of the elementary and middle school teachers is decided by the grade of the students. This allows teachers not to test their children's education, but if you follow the thread of your thinking,What kind of evaluation system should China set up? I think that what you mentioned in your article is that you teach successful character to students, because American society already has a constant success character, is it decided by the social development process? Who should determine success and how to determine it? Xue Yong: I know the problem of school education in China is very big. Our parents are the product of this kindof education. However, every parent can not wait until the school has solved the problem of education, and then began to educate children. You can't wait for that moment in any country. My basic point is that tutoring is more important than schooling. No matter how big the school problem is, parents will contribute a lot to their children's growth. I'm just talking about what my parents should do with my personal experience. Chinese people generally have a habit of thinking: "the main responsibility for education is school, school education has problems, so my child's education is also a problem."." "Why do you always stare at school?" I asked What did you do for yourself as a parent?" The New York Times recently reported that a very good local school attracted a large number of Asian children. As a result, these Asian parents left their children at school and rarely attended school activities. One of the Chinese mothers, who were the anchor of a provincial television station in China, said bluntly: "when we were children, we went to school, and two times a year for parents to go to school. Parents are called when children have problems." In America, it's different. The more educated parents are, the more likely they are to go to school. Some parents go to school for two or three hours a week, while some parents take the master's degree and resign". I speak in the book, we tell the couple how to accompany the child. For example, the child plays the piano, one hour an hour, and her mother three years, every day with every minute. My daughter started composing at the age of nine, and she wrote every piece of music I was around. She once felt a happy God singing in her head, and she wanted to write that song down. Later, when I heard the sound of her downstairs voice, I rushed downstairs and shouted, "Oh, happy God!"! Happy God has come down!" The daughter naturally thought it was funny andlaughed. Children take you as a bosom friend, she has power. "No longer play ya Zhong Ziqi died,". Parents give their children at least when the first who let the children feel their value. I often tell my daughter how I woke up on the way to work or woke up in the morning with a song written in her head. How touching and happy I am! It's not what I make up, it's real feelings. My father has to tell my daughter how powerful she is to impress me and shape my emotional world. How important these things are to my life! In a word, she is not passive, but active in the face of the world. She gradually realizes her potential to shape the world. In a word, I stress that Chinese parents should shoulder their responsibilities. Children's education can not be determined by the school, and can not be determined by what you call the "social development process". For example, what is success, which belongs to values. Children's values are first learned by parents. You teach her good and evil, especially through discussions that give her full understanding of these values, and children have considerable resistance to the outside environment. One。

I'm an 8th grader here at Chengdu No. 7 Middle School, and I've got to tell you - learning about different cultures and traditions in our English class has been a total blast! Mrs. Wang always makes the lessons super engaging and fun.In this unit, we've been exploring the rich cultural heritage of various countries and regions around the world. From vibrant festivals to mouthwatering cuisine, we've gotten a taste of so many fascinating traditions. It's been an eye-opening experience, let me tell you!One of the highlights for me was learning about the Holi festival in India. Can you imagine celebrating the arrival of spring by tossing colorful powder and water at each other? Talk about a wild party! The photos we saw in class were absolutely breathtaking, with people covered head to toe in bright hues of pink, green, and yellow. I couldn't help but dream of one day experiencing that joyous riot of color myself. Then there was our lesson on Japanese tea ceremonies. I have to admit, at first, I thought it would be kind of boring. But Mrs. Wang's detailed explanation of the intricate rituals and the deep cultural significance behind each step completely changed my mind. The graceful movements, the precise preparation of the matcha tea, and the serene atmosphere all came together to create a truly mesmerizing experience, even if we were just watching videos in class.Of course, we couldn't study traditions without delving into food! My mouth was watering as we learned about the diverse culinary delights from different corners of the globe. From the aromatic spices of Indian curries to the delicate flavors of French pastries, it was a gastronomic adventure without even leaving our classroom. I have a newfound appreciation for the art of cooking and the way food can bring people together and connect us to our cultural roots.Speaking of roots, one of the most meaningful lessons for me was when we explored the traditions of China's ethnic minorities. I was amazed by the vibrant costumes, intricate embroidery, and unique customs of groups like the Miao, Dong, and Zhuang people. It made me realize how incredibly diverse and rich my own country's cultural tapestry is. I felt a sense ofpride in learning about these lesser-known traditions and vowed to continue exploring and appreciating the treasures within my own backyard.Of course, no study of traditions would be complete without a nod to our beloved pandas! We learned about the ancient Chinese tradition of panda diplomacy, where these iconic bears were gifted to other countries as a symbol of friendship and goodwill. It was fascinating to see how these cuddly creatures have played a role in fostering international relations throughout history. As we wrap up this unit, I can't help but feel a deep sense of wonder and respect for the incredible diversity of cultures around the world. Each tradition, no matter how big or small, is a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of history, values, and human experiences. By learning about these customs, we not only gain knowledge but also develop empathy,open-mindedness, and a deeper appreciation for the richness of our global community.I'm grateful to Mrs. Wang and my classmates for embarking on this journey of cultural exploration together. For now, I'll cherish the memories and lessons learned in this unit, and carry with me a newfound curiosity and respect for the world's diverse traditions.篇2Unit 3: Our Colorful WorldHey there! I'm a 14-year-old student at Chengdu No.7 Middle School. In this unit, we've been learning about different cultures and traditions around the world. It's been such aneye-opening experience! Let me tell you all about it.To kick things off, we learned about some fascinating festivals celebrated globally. My personal favorite was Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. The stories behind the celebrations are so rich in meaning and symbolism. During Diwali, families decorate their homes with clay lamps called diyas and create colorful rangoli artworks on the floor using colored rice, powder or flower petals. It looks absolutely breathtaking! I would love to experience the magic of Diwali firsthand someday. We also studied the Chinese New Year, which is very close to my heart as I celebrate it every year with my family. From the red envelopes filled with money to the delicious dumplings and Spring Festival Gala shows, Chinese New Year is a vibrant affairsteeped in age-old traditions. My favorite part is hanging up the red couplets and lanterns around our home - it fills me with a sense of joy and belonging.Moving on, we explored some fascinating cultural dress from various parts of the globe. I was amazed to learn about the bright, multi-colored dresses worn by the Bamileke women in Cameroon. These incredible outfits are handmade using traditional techniques passed down through generations. They often feature intricate embroidery, applique work and vibrant patterns - true works of wearable art! I have such deep respect for the rich cultural heritage behind these magnificent dresses. We also studied the ornate silk kimonos of Japan. From the specific folds and knots to the delicate patterns adorning the fabric, each kimono tells a unique story. The sheer amount of skill and artistry that goes into making these garments ismind-blowing. I tried my hand at folding an obi or kimono sash in class, and let me tell you, it's no easy feat! I barely managed a simple knot. Kudos to the talented artisans who have mastered this ancient craft. In addition to festivals and cultural dress, we explored the diverse music and dance styles from around the world. My music teacher taught us a few steps of the lively Spanish Flamenco, with its rhythmic footwork, expressive arm movements and distinctive hand clapping. Though I looked more like a baby giraffe trying to run at first, I eventually got the hang of the basics. It was such an energetic and passionate dance form!We also learned about the ethereal art of Indian classical dance like Bharatanatyam and Kathak. These dances connect mind, body and spirit through precise hand gestures and footwork. I have immense respect for the years of intense training and discipline required to master these intricate art forms. Watching videos of experienced dancers perform was simply mesmerizing.Of course, no discussion about music would be complete without touching on genres like K-pop and J-pop from Korea and Japan respectively. While I don't understand all the lyrics, I'm hooked on the upbeat melodies and funky dance moves! A few friends and I even choreographed a little K-pop dance routine during our breaks. I'm sure we looked beyond silly, but we had an absolute blast. Finally, we learned about diverse culinary traditions from across the continents. Our English teacher hosted a multicultural food festival at school, and it was a true feast for the senses! From aromatic Indian curries to fresh Italian pasta and zestyMexican fajitas, we got to sample an array of delicious dishes. My personal favorite was the Ethiopian injera, a soft sourdough flatbread, served with flavorful vegetable and meat stews. I probably ate way more than I should have - it was that good! This unit has truly broadened my horizons and given me a deeper appreciation for the vibrant tapestry of cultures that make up our world. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn about traditions that are so distinct yet united by common threads of celebration, creativity and community. While customs may vary, at the heart of it all is the human spirit - our shared capacity for joy, artistic expression and coming together over good food.As I look back on what I've learned, I'm equal parts awed and humbled. Our world is a colorful, kaleidoscopic place, and I want to soak in as many of its diverse hues as I can. Who knows, maybe I'll pick up Indian classical dance or attempt makingelt that East African injera someday! The possibilities are endless when you open your mind and heart to new experiences. I, for one, cannot wait to explore more of the rich cultural landscape that surrounds us.篇3The Power of Dreams and Aspirations: Reflections on Unit 3As an 8th grader at the esteemed Chengdu No.7 Middle School, I've recently been delving into the profound themes explored in Unit 3 of our English textbook. This unit has truly resonated with me, shedding light on the transformative power of dreams and aspirations in shaping our lives and propelling us towards growth and fulfillment. One of the key lessons that struck a chord with me was the importance of nurturing our dreams from a young age. The stories and narratives we encountered highlighted how our childhood dreams, no matter how whimsical or far-fetched they may seem, hold the seeds of our future selves. Whether it's aspiring to become an astronaut, a famous writer, or aworld-renowned athlete, these dreams ignite a spark within us that fuels our passion and determination. What particularly resonated with me was the idea that dreams evolve and adapt as we grow older. The aspirations we held as children may take on new forms or merge with newfound interests and passions, but their essence remains intact. It's a reminder that our dreams are not static entities but dynamic forces that shape our journey through life.Unit 3 also delved into the power of role models and mentors in cultivating our dreams. The biographies and personal accounts we explored showcased how individuals who have achieved remarkable feats often attribute their success to the guidance and inspiration of those who believed in them. It made me realize the profound impact that a single person can have on our lives, igniting our ambitions and providing us with the support and encouragement we need to pursue our passions fearlessly. Moreover, the unit emphasized the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity. The path towards our dreams is rarely a straight line; it's riddled with obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Yet, the stories we encountered taught us that it's precisely these challenges that forge our character and strengthen our resolve. They remind us that true success lies not in the absence of failure but in our ability to bounce back, learn from our mistakes, and continue striving towards our goals with unwavering determination.Throughout the unit, I was also struck by the recurring theme of embracing diversity and celebrating the unique dreams and aspirations of individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. The texts we explored highlighted how our dreams areshaped by our experiences, values, and traditions, creating a tapestry of richness and complexity that enriches our world. This lesson resonated deeply with me, instilling a profound appreciation for the diversity that surrounds us and the invaluable lessons we can learn from each other's journeys. As I reflect on Unit 3, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the future that lies ahead. The lessons I've learned have not only broadened my horizons but have also ignited a renewed passion within me to chase my dreams fearlessly. Whether it's pursuing a career in science, art, or any other field that sparks my curiosity, I now understand the profound impact that our aspirations can have on our lives and the world around us.Moreover, Unit 3 has taught me the importance of surrounding myself with positive influences and seeking out mentors and role models who can guide and inspire me along my journey. I've realized that our dreams are not solitary pursuits but rather collaborative efforts, fueled by the support and encouragement of those who believe in us and push us to reach our full potential. As I embark on the next chapter of my academic journey and beyond, I carry with me the invaluable lessons from Unit 3, abeacon of wisdom that will undoubtedly illuminate my path. I am filled with a renewed sense of determination to embrace my dreams wholeheartedly, to persevere through challenges, and to celebrate the unique aspirations of those around me.For it is through the pursuit of our dreams that we not only discover our true selves but also contribute to the richness and vibrancy of our world. Dreams have the power to inspire, to unite, and to propel us towards a future brimming with possibility and hope. And as I stand on the precipice of this exciting journey, I am grateful for the profound insights Unit 3 has imparted, equipping me with the tools and wisdom to navigate the winding path ahead with courage, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of dreams.。

学生丰富的校园生活 英语

学生丰富的校园生活 英语

学生丰富的校园生活英语Student life on campus can be incredibly rich and fulfilling. Beyond just attending classes and studying, there are endless opportunities for students to get involved, explore their interests, and create lasting memories. From extracurricular activities to social events, the campus environment provides a vibrant hub of activity that can greatly enhance the overall university experience. One of the most valuable aspects of campus life is the wide array of extracurricular activities available. Whether a student is passionate about sports, the arts, politics, community service, or any other interest, there is likely a club or organization on campus that caters to it. Joining these groups allows students to pursue their passions, develop new skills, and connect with like-minded individuals. For example, a student interested in environmental conservation might get involved with the campus sustainability club, where they can participate in recycling initiatives, organize educational events, and collaborate on projects to make the university more eco-friendly. Similarly, a budding musician could join the school's orchestra or choir, gaining valuable performance experience and buildingcamaraderie with fellow artists.Beyond structured extracurricular activities, campus life also provides ample opportunities for spontaneous social interaction and personal growth. The campus environment is often abuzz with social events, from movie screenings and game nights to open mic performances and cultural festivals. These gatherings not only offer entertainment but also serve as platforms for students to step out of their comfort zones, engage with diverse perspectives, and forge meaningful connections. Additionally, many universities have dedicated spaces, such as student lounges or recreational centers, where students can simply gather, chat, and bond over shared experiences. These informal social interactions can be just as valuable as organized events, as they allow students to develop their interpersonal skills, build lasting friendships, and feel a sense of community on campus.Another crucial aspect of campus life is the availability of resources and support services that cater to students' academic, personal, and professional development. Most universities have well-equipped libraries, tutoring centers, and career counseling offices that students can access to enhance their learning, seek guidance, and prepare for their future endeavors. These resources not only help students succeed academically but also foster their overall growth and well-being. For instance, the campus writing center might offer one-on-one consultations to help students improve their essay-writing skills, while the career services office could provide workshops on resume building and interview preparation. By taking advantage of these support systems, students can develop the necessary skills and confidence to thrive both during and after their time on campus.Furthermore, the campus environment often serves as a hub for cultural enrichment and intellectual discourse. Universities typically host a diverse array of guest speakers, workshops, and cultural events that expose students to new ideas, perspectives, and traditions. Attending these activities can broaden students' horizons, challenge their assumptions, and stimulate critical thinking. For example, a lecture by a renowned author might inspire students to explore new genres of literature, while a panel discussion on global issues could prompt them to engage in thoughtful debates and consider alternative viewpoints. By actively participating in these intellectual and cultural experiences, students can develop a deeper appreciation for the world around them and cultivate a lifelong love of learning.Beyond the academic and social aspects of campus life, the physical environment of a university can also have a significant impact on the student experience. Well-designed campus facilities, such as modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and inviting communal spaces, can foster a sense of pride and belonging among students. 你是否赞成孩子上课后课程英语作文

你是否赞成孩子上课后课程英语作文Do you agree with children taking extracurricular English classes after school? In recent years, the trend of children attending extracurricular English classes after school has become increasingly popular. Many parents believe that these extra classes can provide their children with an advantage in their academic studies and future careers. However, some people argue that these classes can be unnecessary and add extra pressure on the children. There are several reasons why parents may choose to enroll their children in extracurricular English classes. Firstly, English is widely regarded as the global language of communication. By mastering English, children can open up a world of opportunities for themselves in terms of studying abroad, working in multinational companies, and traveling to foreign countries. Furthermore, having a strong command of English can give children a competitive edge in the job market and increase their chances of success in their careers. Moreover, attending extracurricular English classes can help children improve their language skills and academicperformance. With the guidance of experienced teachers and the use of interactive teaching methods, children can enhance their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a fun and engaging environment. This can not only boost their confidence in using English but also improve their overall performance in school.Another benefit of extracurricular English classes is that they can help children develop important life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. Through activities such as group discussions, debates, and presentations, children can learn how to express their ideas effectively, think critically about different topics, and work collaboratively with their peers. These skills are essential for success in both academic and professional settings. However, some people argue that children already have a heavy workload from school and should not be burdened with additional classes after school. They believe that children should have time to relax, play, and pursue their interests outside of academics. Moreover, they argue that forcing children to attend extracurricular English classes can lead to burnout and resentment, ultimately affecting their mental and emotional well-being.In conclusion, the decision of whether or not to enroll children in extracurricular English classes after school ultimately depends on the individual needs and preferences of the child and their parents. While these classes can provide children with valuable skills and advantages, it is important to strike a balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and personal time. Ultimately, the well-being and happiness of the child should be the top priority in making this decision.。

This academic interview covers such topics as the trend of children’s literature, approaches to children’s literature, status quo and hot issues in children’s literature research. Professor Nikolajeva holds that children’s literature study must necessarily take into consideration the unequal social and cognitive position of the adult author and the child reader, and that all great art, for children or for adults, is educational in the sense that it tells us something about the world and about ourselves, but it is more important for young readers who so far do not know as much as adults.Key words: Maria Nicolajeva; children’s literature; status quo; trend; hot issuesAuthor: Wang Xiaolan is professor at School of Foreign Languages, Nanchang Institute of Technology (Nanchang 330099, China), and Ph.D. candidate at School of Chinese Language and Literature, Central China Normal University (Wuhan 430079, China). Discussion on genres of children’s literature As we all know, genre is an important criterion which is used to categorize books according to the characteristics they share. In children’s literature, genre also plays a same role in it.In general, the two main categories separating the different genres of literature are fiction and nonfiction. However, there are many genres of literature that fall under the nonfiction category, such as children’s novel, children’s songs, fables, fairy tales, children’s prose, children’s dramas, children’s films and so on.Now I will describe three familiar genres of children’s literature, children’s novels, fairy tales and fables. This three genres are popular with the children, even the young audience,I will describe the children’s novels in detail.
As for children’s novels,in the book ”A Critical Handbook of Children’s Literature”(Lukens Rebecca J.,2006-4) has mentioned.Mrs Lukens has chapters about character, plot, setting, theme, point of view, style and tone, each chapter follows a similar format, beginning with a definition of the topic, explainning its functions and importance to literature, and concluding with how to evalute the topic in children’s novels. At the same time,Mrs Lukens shows how each topic functions in all kinds of novels from traditional folk tales to modern fantasy and realism. For example, she defines theme, describes several kinds of themes found in children’s novels, show how to evaluate thems, and also includes a discussion of didactic themes in children’s books.Tone, style and point of view are aspects of literature difficult to explain to students, yet Mrs Lukens has taken these three topics and explained them satisfyingly, citing several examples reflecting the different facets of these topics. In the chapter on point of view, she presents the various view points a writer may choose and explains the value and function of each in specific kinds of books. Her examples are fine novels in miniature, revealing not only the function and value of point of view, but also explaining how it can contribute to the overall quality and artistry of a novel. In the book,it said”we should not only notice the contents of novel and the episodes of the stories, but also we should take the time to think and appreciate the meanings of the novels. ”
According to the description,I think that when we are reading a book,we should pay more attention to the potential meanings behind the stories, instead of noticing only the meaning of the words. For example, when reading the book,"Charlotte’s Web"(Mircea Eliade,1999-12-08),I still remembered before Sherlock’s death, weaving”humble”two words, they kept in my heart and sang the praises of Sherlock. In the book,it told”Wilbur was killed on the Christmas will make bacon, ham. As a pig,the grief-stricken Wilbur seems to only accept the mercy of fate. However, tiny, little spider Charlotte said:”I save you”.So Charlotte in the pigsty weaved by human beings”.Maybe the story told a pig and a spider only from the perspective of words, but it really expressed that friendship is a miracle and eternal love,it may change one’s fate sometimes. The meaning behind the words is the real point which the writers want to transmit to the readers.
So each genre has its unique characteristics, but they may have the eternal meanings under the meaning of the words.
