(not) allow sb. to do sth. =sb.is(n't) allowed to do sth (不)允许某人做某事。

如:This school doesn't allow students to use mobile phones.这所学校不允许学生使用手机。

He is not allowed to stay out late.他不允许晚归。

allow doing sth.允许做某事。

如:We don't allow smoking in the room我们不允许有人在房间里抽烟。

2.depend vi.[考点点拨] depend意为“依靠,依赖,指望”,一般不用于进行时。

它是不及物动词,不能直接跟宾语。

跟宾语时要加介词on或upon,主要用法如下:depend后面跟名词或代词,即:depend on/upon sb. /sth.依靠/指望某人/某物。

如:We depended on ourselve s and overcame all difficulties.我们依靠自己的力量克服了所有的困难。

后面跟带不定式的复合结构,即:depend on/upon sb. to do sth.,意为“指望某人做某事”,可转换为depend on one('s) doing sth.。

如:You can't depend on them to do it.=You can't depend on their/them doing it.你不能指望他们做这件事。

1.We can save energy by_turning_off_the_lights when we leave a room.
短语by doing sth意为“通过做某事”,表示做事的方式,对其提问要用how。

some…,some…,and others…表示“一些……,一些……,还有一些……”。

*allow sb.to do sth.意为“允许某人做某事”,它的被动语态:sb.be allowed to do sth.“某人被允许做某事”。

如:Passengers are not allowed to talk to the driver.
*cut down意为“砍倒,砍伐”
如:He cut down the tree and cut it up for firewood.

四)、Grammar
被动语态(Ⅱ)
一般将来时的被动语态结构有两种:
(1)will/shall be+动词的过去分词。

如:The 2016 Olympic Games will be held in Brazil.
(2)be going to+be+动词的过去分词。

如:Many activities are going to be organized in our school next week.
被动语态的基本用法:
(1)动作的执行者是泛指或不言自明时。

如:None of the books was taken away.
(2)在不知道动作的执行者是谁时。

如:The toy is designed for children.
(3)需要强调动作的承受者时。

如:My bike was repaired.
(4)出于委婉或礼貌而避谈动作的执行者时。

如:This problem was talked about just now.
(5)在被动语态的句子中,如果我们需要指出动作的执行者,可以由by引出。

如:Mr Wu is liked by all of his students.
注意:有些动词常用被动语态。

如:He was_born in Nanjing.This mobile phone was_made_in_China.。
