Ⅰ. Read Passage.Read the following story, and then retell it.Two friends were walking through the desert. During their journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other. Without saying anything, the injured friend wrote in the sand: “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.” They kept on walking, until they found a place with water and trees. They decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped ventured too far into the water and became stuck in the deep mud and was drowning, but his friend saved him. After he recovered from the incident, he carved into a stone: “Today my friend saved my life.” The friend, who had both slapped and saved his best friend, asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand, and now, you write on a stone. Why?” The friend replied: “When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand, where the wind can wipe it away, but when someone does something good for us, we must carve it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”Interview with GodI dreamed I had an interview with God.“So you would like to interview me?” God asked“If you have the time” I said.God smiled“My time is eternity”“What questions do you have in mind for me?”“What surprises you most about humankind?...”God answered...“That they get bored with childhood. They rush to grow up and then long to be children again.”“That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.”“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.”That they live as if they will never die, and die as if they had never lived.”God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a whileAnd then I asked...“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”God replied with a smile“To learn they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is let themselves be loved.”“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.”“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and it takes many years to heal them.”“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”“To learn that there are persons who love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show theirfeelings.”“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”“To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others. This is called weather forecasting. Many people rely on the weatherman to provide that information, but one method of weather forecasting is simply to use your eyes and brains. For example, if you see a rainbow in rainy weather in the evening, this is a sign that the weather will soon be clear and fine. Sometimes distant objects such as hills and tall trees seem to be very clear and near; this is a sign of much water vapor in the air, and then rain will probably come. If a fog appears just about sunrise in the morning, then the day will be warm. If the sunset is mostly red in color, then the following day will be fine. You should speak clearly and loudly, and tell the examiner your name, hobbies, and something interesting about yourself. This part usually lasts for about two minutes. Then comes the dialogue exchange. How exciting! In this section, the examiner will have a conversation with you. It could be about daily life, school, or some hot topics. The key here is to understand the questions quickly and respond accurately. This might last for around five minutes. After that, it's the theme elaboration part. Wow! This is where you really show your language skills and thinking ability. You need to express your opinions on a given topic in detail. The time for this is around eight minutes. This newfound confidence doesn't just stay within the exam room; it follows us in our daily communication, making us more courageous to speak English with others. Also, the oral exam helps us develop an English thinking mode. Through constantly thinking and responding in English during the exam, we gradually get used to thinking directly in this language, rather than translating from our native language. This is a huge leap in language learning, isn't it?In conclusion, the oral exam is not just a test, but a powerful tool thatdrives us to improve our oral skills, build confidence, and cultivate an English way of thinking. So, let's embrace it with enthusiasm and make the most of it!篇5When it comes to oral English tests, there are various types that have their own distinct features. Let's take the IELTS and TOEFL oral tests as examples! The IELTS speaking test focuses on practical communication skills. It consists of three parts. The first part is a simple conversation about daily topics. The second part requires you to give a short speech on a given topic. And the third part involves a more in-depth discussion. The difficulty lies in expressing complex ideas clearly and fluently. Now, look at the TOEFL speaking test. It has independent and integrated tasks. The independent tasks ask for your personal opinions and experiences. The integrated tasks demand the integration of reading and listening materials to form your responses. The challenge here is to process and present a large amount of information accurately within the limited time. So, which one is more difficult? It really depends on your language proficiency and strengths. If you are good at handling real-life conversations, IELTS might be a bit easier. But if you have strong information processing skills, TOEFL could be your choice. Isn't it interesting to explore the differences between these two tests?。

My teacher says it's super important to do well on this test. All us kids in Guangdong have to take it this year. I'm a little nervous, but also really excited to show off my English speaking skills! The test has different parts depending on what grade you're in. For us little third graders, it starts with a warm-up section. The friendly test lady will probably ask me some easy questions like "What's your name?" and "How old are you?". No problem, I've got this! I'll respond clearly in my best English. Then comes the hard part - the roleplaying section. The test lady will give me a scenario and I have to pretend to be someone, like a shop owner or a teacher. I'll have to use all the English phrases and vocabulary I've learned to have a little conversation. I've been practicing with my parents, taking turns playingdifferent roles. My dad makes a pretty funny customer when we practice the shop scenario! After that is the question answering section. The test lady will ask me some simple questions about topics we've learned, like holidays, weather, or my family. As long as I listen carefully and don't get too flustered, I should be able to understand and respond properly. My English teacher quizzes us on stuff like this all the time to get us ready. The last part is show and tell, which is my favorite! I get to bring in one of my toys or favorite things from home. Then I have to introduce it and describe it in English - what it looks like, what I like about it, etc. I'm bringing my stuffed panda because pandas are just the cutest! Hopefully the test lady will agree when I tell her all about my pandy in English.Phew, that's a lot for my little mouth to do! The whole test will probably take around 15 minutes. My parents and teacher keep reminding me not to panic if I get stuck or make a mistake. They say it's just practice for bigger tests I'll have to take when I'm older. The Guangdong English Oral Examination is a really important test that all elementary school students in Guangdong Province have to take. It's designed to evaluate our ability to speak and understand English, which is super crucial in today's world. Now, let's dive into the juicy details of how this exam works! The Preparation Phase:Before the actual exam day, our English teachers have been helping us prepare like crazy! We've been practicing all sorts ofEnglish conversations, roleplays, and presentations in class. They've also given us tons of tips and tricks on how to speak clearly, confidently, and with good pronunciation. One of the things I've been working on the most is expanding my vocabulary. My teacher says that having a rich vocabulary can really make my English sound more natural and impressive. So, I've been learning new words every day and trying to use them in sentences and conversations.Another important part of the preparation has been learning about different topics that might come up during the exam. We've covered everything from family and hobbies to school life and future plans. That way, we'll be ready to talk about any subject that comes our way!The Exam Day:On the day of the exam, I'll be feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness, but I know I'll be prepared! The exam will take place at a designated testing center, and my parents will drop me off in the morning.Once I arrive, I'll need to show my identification and find my assigned testing room. The examiners will be friendly Englishteachers from other schools, so it's important to be polite and respectful. The Exam Structure:The exam itself will be divided into a few different sections. First up is the warm-up section, where the examiner will ask me some simple questions to help me feel more comfortable and relaxed. Things like "What's your name?" and "How old are you?" will be asked.Next is the conversation section, which is the main part of the exam. The examiner will give me a topic or situation, and I'll need to have a natural conversation with them about it. For example, they might ask me to describe my favorite holiday or talk about my future dreams and aspirations.During this section, the examiner will be assessing my fluency, pronunciation, grammar, and overall comprehension. It's really important to speak slowly and clearly, and not to be afraid to ask for clarification if I don't understand something. After the conversation part, there might be a short reading or listening section where I'll have to demonstrate my comprehension skills. The examiner might read a short passageor play an audio clip, and then ask me some questions about what I heard or read. The Final Stage:Once all the sections are completed, the examiner will thank me for my participation and let me know that the exam is over. Phew, what a relief! After the exam, the examiners will score my performance based on a rubric that evaluates different aspects of my English speaking abilities. My scores will then be sent to my school, and I'll receive my results a few weeks later.I'm really excited to see how well I do on this exam! Even though it might be a bit nerve-wracking, I know that all the hard work and preparation I've put in will pay off. Let's rock this exam and show the world how awesome our English speaking skills are!篇3The Dreaded English Oral TestOh man, the Guangdong English Oral Test is coming up for us Class of 2024 students and I'm getting pretty nervous! My older sister had to take it last year and she said it was really tough. But I've been practicing like crazy, so I think I'll be okay. Let me tell you all about how this big test is going to go down.First up, there's the listening part. The teachers will play some recordings and ask us questions about what we heard. Things like "What did the boy want to buy at the store?" or "How was the weather described in the story?" I've been doing lots of listening practice with my English learning apps and my mom quizzes me too. She'll read stories out loud and then fire questions at me about the details. Thanks mom!The speaking part is what really scares me though. We have to answer questions, describe pictures, and even roleplay situations - all in English! No Cantonese or Mandarin allowed. I'mgoing to have to really concentrate and think in English for that part. For the questions, they could ask me anything about my family, hobbies, school life, you name it. Like "Tell me about your favorite subject and why you like it." Or "What do you like to do with your friends on the weekend?" I've been making flashcards with imaginary questions and practicing my answers out loud. Then there are the picture description tasks. They'll show me a photo and I'll have to describe everything I see in it, using lots of details and adjectives. My teacher has been showing us example pictures in class to get us ready. Pictures of people doing activities, scenes from around the city, that kind of thing. But you know what I'm most stressed about? The roleplay part! They'll give me a situation, like buying something at a store or ordering food at a restaurant. And I'll have to make up a conversation with the examiner, taking turns and really sounding natural. Talking to a real person rather than just answering questions is way harder!I've been practicing with my dad, sister, and even my stuffed animals. My dad will pretend to be the storekeeper while I'm the customer. Or I'll order him a ridiculous meal from my imaginary restaurant menu. "I'll have the baked dinosaur egg omelette witha side of meteor meatballs, please!" He always laughs at my silly made-up dish names. My sister has been helping me too by acting out different roleplay scenarios. Like I was the doctor and she was the patient, or I was the tour guide showing her around our city. Having to think on my feet and keep the conversation going is really tough! But she says I'm improving.I even set up a little shop with my stuffed animals, putting price tags on them and "selling" them to my stuffed dog or cat. It feels silly, but it's great practice! Mr. Teddy charges a fortune though - 100 space bucks for one of his hugs! The hardest part is going to be staying in English mode the whole time and not slipping into Cantonese. Especially if I get confused or nervous. My brain might just freeze up and all the English will leak out of my head! But my teachers keep reminding us to take a deep breath, think patiently, and do our best. There's also a writing part to the test, where we'll have to read a prompt and write a story or essay or letter. Writing has always been one of my strongest areas in English though, so I'm not too worried about that section. As long as I pay attention to my grammar, vocabulary, and organization, I should do just fine. The test is going to be long and mentally tiring, for sure. But I've been working so hard to get ready. Listening to English podcasts and YouTube channels, reading children's books out loud, you name it. Hopefully all my practice pays off!My biggest motivator is thinking about how proud my parents will be if I do well. And getting a good score will help me get into one of the best middle schools too. Succeeding at English could open up lots of opportunities for me later on. Who knows, maybe I'll even become an English teacher myself one day!But for now, I just need to shake off these nerves and stay focused during the test. I know I can do it if I篇42024 Guangdong English Oral Test ProceduresHi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader at Sunshine Elementary School in Guangzhou. It looked so inviting and festive! When it was my turn, I walked into the exam room and was greeted by two friendly examiners. They made me feel right at home and asked me some warm-up questions to help me relax. Before I knew it, we were having a lively conversation about my favorite book and why I enjoy reading so much.Next up was the role-play section, where I had to pretend to be a certain character in a given situation. I was asked to be a shop assistant helping a customer find the perfect gift for their friend. It was so much fun acting it out and using all the English phrases and vocabulary we had learned in class. After that, I had to describe a series of pictures and tell a story based on them. This part was a bit tricky, but I remembered to use all the great storytelling techniques Ms. Wang had taught us, like using descriptive words and varying my tone of voice.Throughout the entire exam, the examiners were so kind and encouraging. Which aspect about college life do you like best?I think my life in the university is abundant. I can arrange my time freely to study, read, hang out with my friend, or sth. And I can not only study my major courses, but I can choose some other courses I prefer. Also, I hold the post of some student work, which can balance my study life.My favorite in university is that I have quite a lot of time to read. I think we ought to read as much as possible in the period of university since we might never get such a chance to got down to read, to enrich ourselves.2.Some students learn best when a classroom lesson is presented in an entertaining, enjoyable way. Others learn bestwhen a lesson is presented in a serious, formal way. Which of these two ways of learning do you prefer and why?I prefer to study in an entertaining, enjoyable way. Usually, an active, creative way is more profitable than a normal way base on the same purpose.Study in an entertaining way can help us to memorize what we learn since there are always sth. typical which can stay in our memory, we remember them, so we remember what we have learned during that time. For example, some special situation, or sth. interesting. While study in an serious way, we just learn things automatically, and lack of enthusiasm, certainly cannot have a better learning effect than the enjoyable way.3.Tell me the one of your class activities held recently. How do you like it?Last Friday morning, our class went to visit a medical engineering company. Our major is biomedical engineering, so that we went there to see our career prospects. We got up early, gathered in the school gate, and took bus together. During the time underway, we chatted happily and excitedly. Finally, we arrived there. We visited the factory where the workers make the medical instruments in. And the receptionist showed us their company. The trip was full of fun and it was unforgettable.4.What do you think of some students who spend far too more time on their hobbies than on their schoolwork?I think that of course the schoolwork is our main duty as we are still students. Hobbies are just like the condiment of our life. There is a saying goes like: only by accomplish what you should do, can you do what you like to do. Therefore, we students shouldn’t spend too much time on our hobbies, but cannot give them up either. We should learn to balance them and make our lives meaningful.Personal Issues5.Which do you cherish more, your friendship with a good friend or your romantic relationship?I really think it’s hard choose, both of them are important to me. A good friend can share my happiness and sorrow, and we have our secret, I can tell him or her something that I can’t tell others, including my parents, and my partner. On the other hand, I can’t live without my fere, either. But if I must choose one, to be honest, I will choose my romantic relationship. Because the man who I love now will become my family member in all probability, he’ll a person that will keep me company throughout my life, and experience everything with me, which of course is worth me cherishing more.6.What factors would you consider first if you were to find a job (even a part-time job)? What career would you liketo choose for yourself and why?I will first consider if the jot is suitable for me. If it doesn’t suitable for me, I won’t have the enthusiasm, I won’t be willing to do my work. Even if the salary is high, I won’t be happy. Because your work takes up most of your time, however, what you are spending the most time on is what you actually don’t like, as you can imagine, you will gain little. Speaking of my career prospects, I guess I prefer to do pioneering work with several of my best friends. The reason issimple, I want freedom, and do what I like. And I think work for my own business, once we succeed, we will get much sense of achievement. And we have much free time to arrange. What’s more, I think the process of exploring my own path can make me learn much more than work by due, and also it’s full of adventure and favorable turns.7.Some people like to work or study alone. Others like to study with several people together. Which do you prefer: tostudy alone or to study with other people? Give specific reasons and examples to illustrate your answer.I prefer to study alone. I think study is a “lonely” thing. Quiet surrounding can make a person consider soberly. There is nothing can distract you, so that you can focus on what you are doing. However, if I study with others, I cannot help chatting with them, which can really become less efficient. There were several times I have tried to go to the study lounge with my classmates, and all failed. So maybe study together have it’s advantages, for instance, we could discuss with each other, or ask for help when we meet some problem. But it doesn’t suitable for me.8.Whom do you usually turn to when in trouble, your parents or your friends? When I am faced with troubles, usually I will tell my friends first. I am in the same period with them, and talking with them makes me feel relaxed, they will understand me more. However, although they will listen attentively to me, they can help me little. Therefore, if I want to solve the problem, I will turn to my parents. They have seen a great deal of life, they care me unconditionally, they are more intellectual. Many times, maybe I didn’t believe them at the beginning, but at last it turns out that they were right. So when in trouble, my parents will always be my patron saint.9.How do you get along with your roommates? What do you do when conflicts with your roommates come in theway?Generally we get alone very well with each other. Because we are free-will to choose living together. So we are good friends, and have common habits in our daily life. Of course, there still may be some troubles. Usually when we encounter a contraction, we will choose to give in. Conflict is not a good solution. But if it really breakout, we can always calm down quickly, then maybe we don’t talk to each other, and a few minutes past, one of us will start to talk, and all of us will discuss the thing together and find a solution together. Therefore, even if we get into a quarrel, we can solve it rapidly and peacefully.Social Issues10.Which great leader do you admire most? What qualities did/does he/she has?I admire Chairman Mao. He is the hero of China. I think he is wise, and resourceful. He has the charisma so that he could lead farmers to win the war. He liberated China and he is the chairman of China that people all loved him. Besides, he is also very talented in literature. His poem is contagious. He likes describing the splendor sightseeing, and usually he could express his ambition through his beautiful words. He’s a generous and optimistic person which I love so much. 11. A lot of young people like fast food, esp. things like hamburgers and French fries. What is you attitude to thephenomenon? To be honest, I like fast food, too. I think they are delicious and convenient. But I don’t usually eat them because I also know that fast food, especially things like hamburgers and French fries, which also called junk food. They have high calories, and they are quite unhealthy and indigestible. What’s more, they are expensive. And the environment of the restaurant is always so noisy. Therefore I think people, especially young people had better not eat too much fast food. 12.Many girls diet to lose weight. What do you think about this phenomenon?Every girl wishes to stay slim. Indeed, a slender girl looks more beautiful and attractive. Therefore, many girls diet to lose weight. To be honest, I think to lose weight, the best way is to eat as little as possible. As for other methods, taking exercises, eat which is so called diet pill, and so on, are not that effective. But as is known to us all, the bant is really unhealthy. And we don’t need to aspire to be underweight. In that case, the desire to be slim and to control the size of their bodies can take on a life of its own, possibly leading to anorexia. In a word, I cannot resist the temptation of delicious food, so I guess I will never adopt that way to lose weight.13.Do you think it’s necessary for college student to learn a second or even third language? Why?I really agree that college student should learn at least a second language. I love language. And I think it’s useful. Having learned a language, and speaking it fluently will give us a sense of achievement. Besides, chatting with others isan interesting thing, especially with foreigners. Because you can have a different experience, and can know about something fresh and learn another way of thinking through the process of talking with them. What’s more, learning languages is a comprehensive ability. You’re not only studying a language, but gaining a lot through it. So …14.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: people should always show their strong emotions (such asexcitement, anger, or joy)? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.Well I don’t think that people should always show their strong emotions. Sometimes if you show strong emotions, it’s not good for your health, especially for your heart. For example, if we are always overjoyed or too nervous, our hearts will fail to bear the heavy load. And when you are expressing your feelings, your words actually will have effects on others. You are not only expressing yourself, but arousing resonate. And people usually will judge who you are through your showing of emotions. For example, being angry to others may hurt your relationship, especially when you are not quite familiar with each other. A few years ago, a large number of excellent Chinese students went abroad for better study and living condition. But now a reverse tide arises. Many of them returned to China. What do you think the reasons are?Well I think first of all, there are so many young people go abroad, most of which are unqualified, but as the requirement of studying abroad is lower than before, they succeed. Therefore they actually learn little during the life overseas. And since there are too many Chinese there, they are faced with almost the same competition as they are at home. Besides, I believe that every international student miss their motherland. They study abroad just to open their horizon, to learn more knowledge. And after their successful learning, they will go home anyhow. I quite agree that they return to China and make their contributions to our nation.Science and Technology Issues16.Global warming is evident. Do you think this is the fault of man? If so, how must man stop it?To be honest, global warming is artificial indeed. Human’s effort makes our lives become better, but inevitably cause a series of problems, especially the environment problems. The global warming is one of it. It’s the increase of the average temperature of the earth’s near surface. The side effects of the global warming is alarming. A warmer global climate melts the ice caps, raising sea levels. What is more, it disturbs weather patterns, causing droughts, severe storms, hurricanes. People suffer a lot from disasters relevant to global warming. To stop global warming we should make immediate and continual efforts. For example, we should devote ourselves to developing new resources so as to reduce the use of the carbonaceous fuel. And try to make our environment a green place to live. All in all, it’s easy for everyone to do something to save energy. Every individual counts and individuals make a big difference!17.Household appliances are widely used. What are the advantages and disadvantages of these appliances?I think we cannot live without those household appliances. The household appliances bring us great convenience. For example, the washing machines reduce the burdens, and the TVs bring entertainments into our life. People are gradually used to living with the household appliances. Speaking of the disadvantages, I guess the appliances can make us lazy for they can really take the place of labor power to do so many things. Besides, those domestic appliances usually are very expensive. I think the household appliances will become intelligent and offer more convenience to us.18.What comments would you make on internet? Is it a blessing or curse?Media Issues19.What’s your favorite way to obtain information? What advantage does it have?I usually obtain information through the researching of the Internet. As is known to us all, internet has abundant resources. It almost has everything of what you want. And it’s really convenient. Through this way people will save their time and money. Only a computer can solve the problem. What’s more, you can also turn to others, even strangers for helps through the internet. I think it’s really a good way of obtaining information.20.Do you think someday internet will take the place of other media, such as TV, radio and newspaper? Why or whynot?I don’t think that internet will take the place of other media. Indeed, internet is multi-functional, more and more people fall in love with it. But every media has its own unique feature, which is irreplaceabl e. For example, TV has a large screen, I love the perfect visual effect. And radio, I love it too. I love listening to the DJ’s voice, listening to their chattings. And as for the newspapers, they are undoubtedly irreplaceable. They are just like a part of people’s life. So neither of media can be replace by internet although that the internet is fairly powerful.Part TwoDirections: In this part, two students work together to debate on the following issue.1.Nowadays, no one can avoid being influenced by advertisement. 英语口语测试是否必要的英语作文

英语口语测试是否必要的英语作文

英语口语测试是否必要的英语作文Is an English Oral Test Really Necessary?Lately, my school has been talking about adding an English oral test to our curriculum. I'm not sure how I feel about this idea. On one hand, I can see why speaking English is important. But on the other hand, taking tests makes me really nervous! I decided to look into this more and think through the pros and cons. The biggest argument in favor of an English oral test is that it helps prepare us for the real world. English is a global language used for business, travel, and so much more. Being able to speak it fluently can open up a lot of opportunities. My parents always say that English skills are super important for getting a good job someday. And it's true - lots of companies these days require at least basic English, even if you live in a non-English speaking country.Oral tests also allow teachers to evaluate our pronunciation and conversation skills, which are hard to assess just through written work. You can know all the vocabulary and grammar rules, but still struggle to understand a native speaker or express yourself smoothly when talking. An oral component ensures we get well-rounded English instruction. However, I can't help but feel really anxious about the prospect of an oral test. Public speaking has always made me super nervous, even in my own language. I'm terrified of freezing up or messing up my words in front of the teacher and rest of the class. Some of my classmates are so confident, but I'm just a shy kid who prefers written assignments.Tests in general are stressful enough without adding a speaking portion too. We already have so much material to study across all our subjects. Adding yet another test feels overwhelming. What if I bomb the oral part and it tanks my overall English grade? That could hurt my chances of getting into a good middle school. It's a lot of pressure for someone my age.I also wonder if oral tests are the best way to evaluate speaking skills, or if they just mean more busy work for overstressed students. Reading dialogues out loud or recording myself might be a better way for teachers to check my pronunciation without the nerves of a formal test. Or we could do more group conversation practice during class - that puts the emphasis on building skills rather than taking a high-stakes test.At the end of the day, I can understand both sides of the argument. Speaking English fluently is undoubtedly a useful life skill in our globalized world. But Tests also cansuch high-stakesassessments bring a lot of unneeded anxiety, especially for shy students like me. Maybe there's a hhappyer medium, where we work on building those skills in lower-pressure situations?I'm going to keep thinking about this issue and may even write to the principal about my concerns. But those are just some of my thoughts as a 5th grader on the potential impacts, both positive and negative, of introducing English oral tests. No matter what, I'll keep working hard and doing my best - I just hope the adults make a decision that is genuinely in our best interests as students.。
