第二节(满分25分)

【例文1】

It was five or six minutes though it felt much longer. The muffled voices from outside were oddly calming, though – Mom unruffled and amused, Jason giving advice. There was enough space around my neck to let a little light in and. “Stay tuned,” said Mom; Dad got me to push my head farther into the pumpkin so Mom could reach in and undo the rubber band round my ponytail. I emerged with

squash-conditioned hair, a sore chin and my nose plugged with pulp. she’d mentioned she was going to upload the video to Facebook, but it was only then I realiz ed she’d been filming the whole time.

The video was posted the Monday before Halloween. By the end of that day it had over 1,000

views .The video started racking up hundreds of thousands of views. The pumpkin also became a minor celebrity. Passersby and trick-or-treaters would knock and ask, “Which is Rachel’s pumpkin?” before taking selfies with it. A few months later I squeezed myself into a laundry basket during a game of

hide-and-seek and became hopelessly jammed. It was Dad who responded to my cries for help. Inevitably, I was kept waiting for a while – first he had to look for the video camera.

【例文2】

I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Despite my unwillingness to admit it, i had made the most shameful and stupid mistake ever. I had no choice but to beg Jason to help me. He tried to pull it desperately, which only turn out to be in vain. Finally, he decided to use a knife to break the pumpkin. Though he tried very cautiously and I didn't get hurt actually, I felt unbearable fear crossing my mind, beads of sweat popping out on my forehead. Much to my dismay, my dad and mum whispered, giggled, chuckled and finally burst into laughter. After what seemed like a century, Jason managed to break the pumpkin. It was not until then that i found a camera just in front of me. Worse still, my dad announced that the video would be shared online.

That video was posted the day before Halloween. Reading the comments of audience around the world,I felt extraordinarily awkward and I was eager to melt into the ground. The number of “likes”increasing rapidly, I eventually couldn’t resist the temptation to watch it myself. So funny was that video that I could n’t help laughing. With the video gaining more and more popularity, I felt a mixture of embarrassment and satisfaction striking into my heart. Just at that moment, Jason tapped on my shoulder, and admitted that i was the winner this year, followed by the applause of my whole family. “I won’t save you another time!” he laughed. Interesting as it was, I would never try this stupid thing any more.

W: My computer is giving me a lot of trouble. Could you help me with it, please?

M: OK, I just need to check on a couple of things.

W: Hi, I’d like to have this blouse washed and pressed.

M: OK, but I’m afraid you won’t be able to collect it until next Friday. We’ve been very busy recently.

Text 3

W: Wh at a journey! Air travel is more tiring than driving, I’m sure.

Text 4

M: Could I have fried rice or noodles for dinner for a change? I don’t feel like steak today.
