Everyone needs friends. We all like to feel close to someone. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh and do things with. Surely, there are times when we need to be alone. We don’t always want people around. But we would feel lonely if we never had a friend.
No two persons are just the same. Sometimes friends don’t get along well. That doesn’t mean that they no longer like each other. Most of the time they will make up and go on being friends. Sometimes friends move away. Then we feel very sad. We miss them very much. But we can call them and write to them. One day we can even see them again. Of course we can make new friends. It is surprising to find out how much we like new people when we get to know them.
Families sometimes name their children after a close friend. Many people are named after men or women who have been friendly to people in a town. Some libraries are named this way. So are some schools. We think of these people when we go to these places.
There’s more good news for people who have friends. They live longer than people who don’t. The reason is that they are happier. Being happy helps you stay well. Or you may be just knowing that someone cares. If someone cares about you, you will take better care of yourself.
46. The main idea of this passage is ______.
A. that people need to be alone
B. that people need friends
C. how to get to know friends

47. What does the first paragraph tell us?

C. Making friends is the need in people’s life.
D. One friend is enough.

Tourism is growing in China. But the supporting travel insurance (保险) industry isn’t sharing the growth. As the number of travelers increases, so does the number of accidents. During last year’s May Day Holiday, for example, only 20 major accidents killed 37 people and injured 69. According to a report, in Shanghai, only 20 percent of group tour travelers bought insurance coverage(保险项目)and spent an average of 6 yuan. The percentage is believed to be lower for independent travelers. The limited coverage by travel insurance is partly to blame for this low figure(数字). Most travel insurance plans cover only injuries and medical expenses caused by accidents. Travel mishaps like lost luggage and cancelled(取消)trips are not covered. These activities are more likely to happen and need insurance more.
Travel insurance is more widely used in western countries. For example, in the UK, more than 90 percent of travellers buy insurance. Travelers, aged 18 to 25, are the least likely to buy travel insurance. But two-thirds still buy it when they go abroad. Western travel insurance usually covers three types of accidents. The first is trip cancellation (取消) due to illness or injury. The second part is similar to travel insurance in China, covering medical and accident costs. The third part includes the costs of lost luggage, cash or camera.
In western countries, insurance can be got online, by telephone, at post offices or travel shops. Besides insurance companies, large supermarkets also issue their own travel insurance plans, which can be bought at their chains nationwide.
54.Which of the following statements is TRUE?
A. There were altogether 20 major accidents last year in China.
B. We know clearly how many people have purchased travel insurance in our country.
C. Independent travelers spend more money on insurance than group tour travelers.
D. Some travelers in the UK aged from 18 to 25 buy travel insurance when they go abroad. 55.Which type of accidents does travel insurance cover in both China and western countries?
A. Trip cancellation due to illness or injury.

C. The costs of lost luggage, cash or camera.
D. Special insurance policies for students.

B. Online, by telephone, at post offices or travel shops.

A burro (驴子) is a small donkey. Burros are known for their sure footing on mountains while carrying heavy loads. In the United States, they are best known for their history as pack animals in the desert Southwest. In fact, burros in the wild are related to pack animals that ran away or were freed by gold miners and others.
But burros are not only good pack animals. According to a recent study, they can also help calm and control nervous horses and guard sheep and goats on farms. Robin Rivello works with the New Jersey chapter of the American Mustang and Burro Association. She says burros have protected farm animals even against bears.
Burros like to clean each other. But these desert animals clean themselves with dust instead of water. So it is normal for a burro to have some dirt in its coat. A brush can remove hardened mud. Experts like Robin Rivello advise owners not to let their burros eat too much. Being fat can ruin their health.
Robin Rivello says a burro’s feet should be cleaned and cared for every six to eight weeks. But she warns owners not to raise the feet as high as with a horse. A burro’s legs differ from a horse’s legs. The pain could make the burro kick.
58.Why is there often dirt in burros’ coats?
A. They often play in water.
B. They enjoy getting cleaned with dust.
C. They like fighting with each other on the ground.
D. They sometimes fall down while footing on mountains.
