Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when going into high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don’t know what your middle school was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It’s best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so you can achieve everything you need to.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day. You will probably love it. I know I did. You should join in some sports or activities that will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Good luck!
David, Aged 19
I’m not going to lie. The first day is kind of frightening. But you’ll get used to it. Don’t be afraid of anyone; upperclassmen will pick on you more if you let them know you’re afraid. Just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly. After the first week it’s really not bad at all. Don’t worry.
Eddie ,Aged 20
When I started high school I was really nervous too, especially since I had been homeschooled all through middle school and didn’t really know an yone. I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier before you know it.
21.What can we infer from Sharon’s words about high school?
A.Teachers are quite strict. B.Students often stay up at night
C.Teachers provide little care for students. D.Students should make good use of their time.
22.Who mentions the importance of friends?
A.David B.Frank C.Sharon D.Eddie
23.How did Eddie feel on his first day of high school?
A.Excited B.Worried C.Bored D.Relaxed

Technology is creating big changes in the music industry. Music lovers listen to and buy music on the Internet. They can watch live concerts of favorite artists online. And music makers, as well as music
industry officials, use social media to increase the public’s interest.
Nick Sherwin is the founder of the band called Suburban Skies. He says today’s technology permits a band to control its own future. He said, “Social media is a wonderf ul thing. You can make use of it to reach the public. “Sherwin says the Internet and social media have created possibilities for musicians. He says the new way to success is to give visitors more than one type of experience.” The most important thing is the content. You have to have songs and videos to show the audience. But I think it is extremely important to do shows, to build your brand, and to make you well known,” Sherwin said.
Music industry officials discussed the future of the business during an international conference (会议) in Los Angeles, California. They said musicians are choosing to perform live across the country, following the drop in CD sales in the United States. Rob Light is head of music with a creative artist agency (代理机构). He said, “Most of the income for artists is now coming from the live marketplace.”
Along with the popularity of live music there has been a big increase in the number of music festivals. These events are advertised on social media. Pasquale Rotella leads Insomniac, a company that produces electronic dance music festivals in several countries. “Someone could make it in his bedroom and put it out there. People can gain fans online without anyone’s help. That has completely helped the growth of dance music,” said Rotella.
Bob Pitt man leads the radio organization — Clear Channel Communications. He says music lovers are still listening to the radio, although there are new ways of finding music. He says 70 percent of Americans say they discover new music from what they hear on the radio. But Rob Light says radio will soon be a thing of the past. However, Nick Sherwin is not worried. He just wants to reach everyone who likes his style of music with the help of the Internet.
24.From Paragraph 2, we learn that Nick Sherwin __________ .
A.doesn’t have any good ways to reach the public

The new study shows that we spend more time using the mobile Internet to read newspapers and magazines or do some other things. According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau(IAB),the average European spends 4.8 hours reading newspapers and magazines but 1.6 hours more using the mobile Internet per week.
The IAB questioned 15,000 people in 15 European countries, looking at how people were using the Internet and its influence on their everyday lives. It found that the mobile Internet is increasingly finding its way into the public awareness. Over 71 million Europeans now have Internet access on their mobile phones. In the UK, 10 million people now access the Internet through their mobile phones and spend 6.3 hours doing so per week averagely.
Unsurprisingly, young generations in the UK are leading the way, with nearly half of the country's 16-to 24-year-olds and a quarter of 25-to 34-year-olds using the Internet, spending 6.5 and 6.2 hours online each week.
Entertainment plays a main role in our mobile Internet lives, with one in five British people using their phones for online games,a third listening to the online radio and 39 percent watching films,TV or other videos at least once a week. One third of those using an Internet phone said they received videos, images or other multimedia on their mobile, and 61percent said they passed on the contents they had received.
From a communication point of view,80 percent of those questioned agreed that the Internet had made it easier for them to stay in touch with friends and family.
Alison Fennah, director of the IAB,said the use of the mobile Internet had come to the point that marketers should be looking to strategies(策略)that connect them with consumers more effectively. "Better tools as well as improved consumer motivation that start coming together in 2011 can make a great difference to extending the online experience," Fennah said.
28.How long does a European spend on the mobile Internet per week according to the IAB?
A.6.4hours. B.6.2hours. C.4.8hours. D.1.6 hours.

Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October as a day to make someone happy. It is an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, the aged, and children who have lost their parents, but also friends, workmates, relatives and neighbors whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.
Over 60 years ago, when a Cleveland man noticed that some people, such as children who lost their parents and patients who lay in bed,too often felt forgotten and neglected,he developed in his mind the idea of showing them that they were remembered. He did this by giving them small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors,he gave those people small gifts on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to take part in the celebration, which came to be called "Sweetest Day". Over time, the Sweetest Day's idea of spreading cheer to the poor, the sick and children who had lost their parents was broadened(扩大)to include everyone, and became an occasion for remembering others with a kind act or a small gift. Soon the idea spread to other cities all over the USA.
Sweetest Day is not based on any single group's religious beliefs or on a family relationship. It is a reminder(提醒人记忆之物)that a thoughtful word or deed enriches life and gives it meaning. Because
of many people remembering to take the form of gift giving,Sweetest Day offers us the opportunity to show others that we care,in a positive way.
32.What can we learn from the first paragraph?
A.Sweetest Day is a day to bring happiness to others.
B.Sweetest Day is just an occasion for caring about disabled people.
C.Sweetest Day is an occasion for lovers to express love.
D.Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in October.

Text 10
Good evening, listeners! I’m today’s guest, Emily. I’m from Anderson Hospital. In today’s radio show, I’d like to say something about hair. Hair is the most noticeable part of a person. But some people have little or no hair on their heads. They are bald. For most of the people, baldness is the result of family history. Medical problems and stress can also lead to baldness.
Everyone loses hair. In fact, a person loses around 50 to 100 hairs every single day. As you lose a number of hairs every day, your body produces more to take the place of the ones you’ve lost. When someone goes bald, his or her body doesn’t produce enough hairs to take the place of the lost ones.
Anyone can have hair loss, so if you want to keep you hair on your head, treat it well. You should avoid hairstyles that pull your hair too tight and stay away from high-heat hair styling tools. Eating healthily is important, too.
