My Big Dreams for the Future
Hiya! My name is Aituya and I'm 11 years old. I live in the amazing city of Urumqi with my mom, dad, and little sister Gulnur. I love so many things about my life here - the delicious food, the bright sunshine, and all the fun activities we get to do as a family. But you know what I really, really love thinking about? The future!
I have such big dreams for when I grow up. I can already picture myself doing all sorts of exciting things. Let me tell you about some of the careers I'm considering.
First up, being a scientist would be awesome! I'm super curious about how everything in the world works. Why is the sky blue? How do airplanes stay up in the air? What makes volcanoes erupt? As a scientist, I could study all the amazing mysteries of nature and maybe even make some incredible new discoveries!
I've also thought about becoming a doctor or nurse. The idea of helping people feel better when they're sick or hurt seems like such an important job. Can you imagine how great it would feel to save someone's life? I get a warm, tingly feeling just thinking about it. Though I have to admit, I'm a little squeamish around blood and needles. I might faint! Maybe I'll be a pediatrician instead and just take care of other kids.
Or how about this - I could be an astronaut and travel to outer space! Floating around with no gravity would be a total trip. I'd get to see the entire Earth down below, along with the billions of stars twinkling all around me. Experiencing something that amazing would be out of this world! Though I'm not sure what astronauts do about going to the bathroom up there. I'll have to look into that.
Being a professional athlete like a soccer or basketball player could be lots of fun too. I'm pretty fast and love running around outside. Imagine scoring the winning goal to bring home a championship! The crowd would go wild cheering for me. Maybe I'd even get my face on a cereal box! Then again, professional athletes have to train really, really hard. I'm not sure I want to work out for hours and hours every single day.
You know what else could be cool? Becoming a teacher! Teachers are the ones who get to share all the awesome knowledge and facts about the universe with kids like me. Without them, we'd never learn things like math, science, reading, art and more. Plus teachers seem to really care about their students and want us to have bright futures. How nice is that?
Oooh, or maybe I'll open my own business one day! I could run a huge factory that makes all my favorite snacks and treats. Or a toy company that invents the most fun games and playthings kids have ever seen. Or hire amazing chefs to work at my restaurant that serves delicious dishes from all around the world. As the boss, I'd get to make decisions and come up with ideas to make my business successful. I bet owning your own company would be really exciting!
Honestly, there are so many potential careers that it's impossible for me to pick just one right now. No matter what though, I know I want a job where I can be creative, help others, and do something positive to make the world a better place. I have lots of big dreams for my future!
I also need to be a kind, caring person who treats others with respect. Being a bully or meanie would just bring negativity into
my life and make it harder to accomplish things. Whereas if I'm polite, friendly and considerate of people, doors will open up for me. Maybe I'll make lots of new friends along the way who can encourage me and cheer me on!
So that's the plan - work hard, be a good person, and chase my wildest ambitions wherever they take me. Who knows, maybe one day you'll see me collecting a Nobel Prize, hitting a game-winning home run, or spinning through outer space! The key is to never stop dreaming and pursuing what makes me happiest.
I can't wait to see where the future leads. The path may be long and difficult, but it will be one incredible adventure. Just you wait and see what this girl from Urumqi can achieve!

My Exciting Trip to Urumqi
Hi everyone! My name is Li Ming, and I want to tell you about my amazing trip to Urumqi. Last month, my family and I went on a vacation to this beautiful city. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget!
First, let me tell you about the journey. We took a long flight from our hometown to Urumqi. The view from the airplane was breathtaking! I saw snow-capped mountains and vast deserts. It was like a dream come true. When we landed, I felt so excited to explore this new city.
The first place we visited was the Xinjiang Regional Museum. It was like a treasure trove of history! I saw ancient artifacts, colorful paintings, and even mummies! I couldn't believe that these mummies were thousands of years old. The museum taught me so much about the rich culture and heritage of Xinjiang.

My Big Exam Adventure
Hi friends! My name is Aynur and I just took the biggest test of my life - the middle school entrance exam in Urumqi. It was a huge deal and I've been studying like crazy for months. Let me tell you all about my crazy exam experience!
First off, I was sooo nervous leading up to the exam days. My parents kept reminding me how important this test was for getting into a good middle school. And my teachers would not stop talking about it! Every day at school it was test prep, test prep, test prep. I get that it's a big deal, but I was seriously stressing out.
A few weeks before the exam, my parents enrolled me in an afterschool cram school. Can you believe I had to go to extra classes after my regular school day? It was torture! The cram school teachers were so strict too. If anyone zoned out for even a second, they would slam their ruler on the desk. The loud smack would make everyone jump out of their seats! I'm not joking - Cram School Lady had eyes on the back of her head.
Despite all the intense studying, I still didn't feel ready when exam week finally arrived. My stomach was doing flipflops as I
lined up outside the exam hall with what felt like a million other students. We had to enter in complete silence and were strictly prohibited from bringing any supplies except for a few pencils and eraser. No watches,no calculators, no water bottles - nothing! Just us and our brains.
The first exam was mathematics and it was grueling. The problems just kept getting harder and harder as I worked my way through the test booklet. By the end, my mind was scrambled eggs! When the proctor finally called time, I had a massive headache from concentrating so hard.
After a short break, it was on to the Chinese exam. This one wasn't quite as bad for me since I'm a strong reader and writer. Though there were some confusing comprehension passages about ancient proverbs and fables that twisted my brain into pretzels. My hand was straight-up cramping from all the essay writing by the time that exam finished.
The next day was the english exam which I was actually looking forward to. I've been studying English since kindergarten and I'm quite a little anglophile if I do say so myself. The reading and grammar weren't too bad, but oh man did I have trouble with that dreaded essay question! You had to write a narrative story from the perspective of a piece of litter. How weird is that? I
wracked my brain trying to think like a dirty old candy wrapper or grimy plastic bag. My initial attempts were pretty rubbish (get it? Rubbish? Haha!) but I managed to piece together a halfway decent tale of an aluminum can's journey in the end.
After English was finally Science and I actually quite enjoyed that test. All the material on biology, chemistry, astronomy, you name it - I find that stuff fascinating! The experiment questions were right up my alley. Although I may have gotten a bit too invested in describing how I would build my own volcano model at home. Oopsies!
Finally, it was the last exam which covered history, geography, politics, and more. My brain was pretty fried from all the previous testing at this point. I seriously struggled to concentrate, especially on anything related to maps and locations. Hopefully I didn't mix up too many province capitals and landform names. Yikes!
When it was finally over, I just felt relieved. And proud that I had pushed through and given it my all. Those four exam days were some of the most mentally grueling of my life! No wonder they call it the middle school entrance "exam from hell." I celebrated by going out for a totally unhealthy but delicious
meal of pizza, fries, and a giant ice cream sundae. Hey, I earned it after using every ounce of brainpower, right?
Now it's just a nail-biting wait to get my results back. My parents are going anxiety crazy wondering if I scored high enough to get into one of the top middle schools. I'm actually trying not to think about it too

The 2024 College Entrance Exam in Urumqi
Wow, can you believe it's already time for the big college entrance exam here in Urumqi? It feels like just yesterday I was a tiny little kid playing hopscotch and jumping rope at recess. Now I'm getting ready to take one of the biggest tests of my life so far!
My older siblings have told me all about the exam. They said that the English part is really important since English is such a global language these days. Good English skills can open up lots of opportunities for jobs and travel in the future. But they also warned me that the English composition section is no joke - you really have to know your stuff.
I've been studying English for years, ever since I was a little kid in kindergarten. We started off basic, learning the alphabet, simple words like "cat" and "ball", and how to introduce ourselves. As I got older, the lessons got harder. We learned grammar rules, expanded our vocabulary, and started reading and writing more complex sentences and paragraphs.
By the time I got to upper elementary school, we were reading short stories and books in English. Writing
multi-paragraph essays became a regular assignment. I actually kind of liked English class! The stories we read were interesting windows into other cultures. And creative writing let me express myself and stretch my imagination.
I've also been getting extra English tutoring after school to make sure I'm as prepared as possible. My tutor has me do all kinds of exercises to shore up my weak areas. Like tongue twisters to improve my pronunciation. And listening comprehension drills with audio clips of conversations with different accents. We even acted out dialogues and scenarios to practice my speaking and comprehension in context. It's been really helpful!
I won't lie, I'm definitely a little nervous about the big English composition section on exam day. It's high stakes since that
essay score will make up a huge part of my overall English grade. But I'm also excited to show off all my English skills that I've been building up over many years of studying.
The prompts could be about almost anything - a personal experience, a social issue, interpreting a quote or poem, comparing cultures, etc. No matter what though, I've been practicing how to analyze the prompt, organize my thoughts into a clear thesis and supporting points, provide relevant examples and details, and wrap it all up with a solid conclusion. As long as I apply everything I've learned, I should be able to craft a strong, well-structured essay.
My English teacher always emphasizes that the composition isn't just an writing exercise - it's a way to demonstrate critical thinking, creativity, and clear communication ability. Those are such valuable skills to have, both for the exam and for life in general. She tells us the essay is a chance to let our unique voices and perspectives shine through. It's not just about getting a good score, but about expressing who we are as individuals.
I know all my hard work and perseverance is going to pay off on exam day. Sure, taking a big standardized test isn't exactly fun. But I've got this! My parents, teachers, and tutors have given me so much support and great strategies to succeed. As long as I
stay focused, manage my time wisely, and writefrom the heart, I'm confident I can knock that English composition out of the park.

My Best Summer Ever
Hey there! I'm Aynur, a 15-year-old living in Urumqi, the super cool capital of Xinjiang. I just finished up my first year of middle school and I can't wait to tell you all about my bestest summer break ever!
It all started when school let out in early June. My parents had planned this epic adventure for us - a cross-country road trip across China! I was totally stoked. We piled into our trusty old van with snacks, games, and my favorite playlists queued up and hit the road.
Our first stop was Xi'an to see the Terracotta Warriors. Those ancient clay soldier statues were mind-blowingly awesome. It's crazy to think they were buried underground for like 2,000 years before farmers rediscovered them in 1974. We spent a whole day exploring the massive pit where they were excavated. I tried my best warrior pose next to the life-sized figures!
After Xi'an, we headed east towards Beijing. The capital was a blur of iconic sights - the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace. My mind was blown by how massive and intricate everything was. The landscaped gardens at the Summer Palace were my favorite though. We rented a boat and just floated around the kunming lake, soaking it all in. So peaceful!
From Beijing, we travelled towards the coast to Qingdao. This beachy city is famous for its German architecture left over from when it was occupied in the 1800s. We wandered the charming cobbled streets of the old town and I probably ate my weight in fresh seafood! The highlight was definitely climbing to the top of Zhan Qiao pier though. The view of the whole city against the sea was just wow.
Our last stop was Shanghai, where I saw the craziest futuristic skyline I've ever seen. The neon lights at night along the Bund waterfront were unreal. We spent an afternoon visiting
the different themed neighborhoods - I loved all the snacky streets in the French Concession area. We also went up to the 118th floor observation deck of the Shanghai Tower, the second tallest building in the world. Watching the sun set over the endless skyscrapers is a memory I'll never forget.
On the long drive back home to Urumqi, we blasted our singalong playlist and played every road trip game in the book. We made a quick detour in Zhangye to hike through the unbelievably colorful Danxia landforms. The layers of different colored mineral rocks were so pretty, like something out of a trippy cartoon!
Finally, we made it back to Xinjiang and spent a few days recharging in Urumqi before our big summer adventure came to an end. I have to say, this was easily the best, most epic vacation of my entire life so far. Traveling across China with my family, seeing all the different cities and historical sites with my own eyes, it was just incredible. I feel so grateful and lucky.
Now I'm back in school refreshed and ready to take on 8th grade! This trip opened my eyes to how vast and diverse our country is. There's still so much I haven't explored. I can't wait until the next chance I get to hit the road again with my parents.
Staying cooped up in one place just isn't for me - I've got a serious case of wanderlust now!
