An Exciting English Essay Writing Contest!
I was super excited when our English teacher, Ms. Roberts, announced that our school would be hosting an English essay writing competition for 5th and 6th graders! I love writing stories and expressing my thoughts, so I knew I had to participate.
The contest was open to all students in grades 5 and 6, and the top three winners would receive amazing prizes – the first prize was a brand new tablet, the second prize was a set of books,
and the third prize was a gift card to the bookstore. How cool is that?

Hey everyone! My name is Emily and I'm a 6th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. I have a really cool idea that I think a lot of us students would enjoy. What if our school held an English essay writing contest for 5th and 6th graders? It would be so much fun!

I'm sure there are tons of other cool fundraising ideas we could come up with too. Getting the whole school involved and excited about it would be half the fun!
Overall, an English essay writing contest would be an awesome way to celebrate students' creativity, writing talents, and hard work. We'd get practice for an important life skill while having a chance to win fun prizes and get recognized for our efforts. Our writing could actually get published and read by others which is such a cool idea.
I've talked to some of my friends about this idea already and they seemed really excited about it too. We'd love to get other students', teachers' and parents' thoughts as well. With a lot of participation and school spirit, I think this could become an annual 5th/6th grade tradition that everyone looks forward to! What is the Essay Writing Contest?
The essay writing contest is a chance for us 5th and 6th graders to show off our English writing skills. We'll get to write an essay on a secret topic that won't be revealed until the day of the contest. Isn't that exciting and mysterious?!
The contest will take place over the course of one day at our school. In the morning, we'll all gather in the auditorium and the teachers will tell us the essay topic. Then we'll have 2 hours to write our essays in the computer lab or using pencil and paper if we prefer.
After the 2 hours are up, we'll submit our essays and take a break for lunch and recess. In the afternoon, a team of teachers and special guests will read through all the essays and pick the
