With a total investment of 160 million yuan, Elephant Hill · A Legend has been the most expensive tourism project during the past decade in Guilin and is considered the first brand-new tourism concept to have introduced the state-of-the-art high technology to live performance. The entire performance is staged inside Elephant Hill scenic area and the latest technological and artistic means are employed to create a dream-like miraculous wonderland that has never been seen or heard elsewhere. Its original and comprehensive modes of performance are truly the best in the world.

Amidst Hills and Waters
The show starts with the household song I Want to go to Guilin. Then, in the blink of an eye, lava-like lights shoot out from nowhere and the audience suddenly find themselves inside a mysterious make-believe cave. As the show progresses, an outlandish space unfolds itself to the amazement of the audience. The four chapters of Blue Hills, Clear Waters, Peculiar Caves and Beautiful Rocks combine together to make the complete show. In this poetic fairyland, Bat Princess, Water Fairy, Osmanthus Elf, Seven-Star Faery dance to the melodious and lingering singing of the Lyra girl as well as the performance of long-haired Yao girls. The 70-minute show reaches its climax in a number of highly difficult acrobatic stunts, such as female contortion, male rock-flying, airborne bar flips, and bike pyramids.

息，天琴女歌声婉转如天籁、绕梁回旋，蝙蝠公主、水波仙子、桂花仙子、七星仙子蹁跹而舞，长发瑶女子妩媚婀娜、顾盼生姿，女子柔术、男子飞岩、高空翻杠、车叠罗汉、球形飞车等高难度特技随声光电的变幻轮番登场，令人目不暇接，演员与观众频频互动，带领观众共同经历了一场为时70分钟的玄幻神奇、惊艳刺激的山水穿越之旅。

Unfortunately, the theater was previously troubled with a lack of appropriate shows, which was unequal to its status and also a waste of its resources. Therefore, in November 2010, led by Guilin Tourist Culture and Entertainment Company, a new managing and operating team of veteran professionals with plenty of experience was formed to explore new possibilities. The result is a magic, wonderful, alternative show featuring singing and dancing in distinctive Guilin style.

Our 100 or so actors are former performers in the play The Mysterious Oriental Capital which was highly spoken of in the US. Three of their acrobatic programs and two ballet dances were given golden awards at both international and domestic levels. The Dream Theater, in which the show is staged, is set against hills and is well-equipped with comfortable soft seats designed to give the audience best viewing angles. Located at the junction of Li River and Tianjia River, just a strip of water across Shutong Hill, Sanjie Liu Singing Fair has an afforestation rate of over 90% and all kinds of plants grow within the area like camellia sinensis, fern leaves and turfs. The singing fair has adopted a special design that puts lighting equipment and stereo system invisible in the background environment. Bamboo rafts form a stage on the water and they can be removed when the stage is idle. The design causes no harm to either the water or the river bed.

歌圩几乎全部被绿色覆盖，种植有茶树、风尾竹、草皮等，绿化率达到90%以上。

Tourists are amazed to know that not a single iron nail was used in building such architectural wonders with distinctive ethnic features as Drum Tower and Wind-and-Rain Bridge in a land of 100 mu. Shaped like a terrace field, the auditorium is installed with seats that allow a 180-degree view of river sights and performance on a river section of 2 square kilometers. A special consideration is also given to safety measures against a possible outbreak of floods. There are 2,000 normal seats, 180 VIP seats and 20 presidential seats. The casting is very powerful in that it consists of more than 600 specially-trained actors. They are many different costumes with distinctive ethnic styles that are varied in both color and design.

After attending the first public show on 20th March 2004, officials of the World
Tourism Organization praised it as a show that “the world has never seen before and it's worth your round trip from anywhere in the world." The theater where the show was performed was rated in the same year the best recreational and vacationing site recommended by the WTO. In November 2004, the theater was listed among the first National Demonstration Sites for Cultural Undertakings.

Sanjie Liu is a beautiful singing fairy in the folk tales of Zhuang nationality and many legends about her have been told and spread far and wide. The 1961 movie Sanjie Liu was an immediate success and has made Sanjie Liu a household name in both China and Southeast Asia. It has, therefore, inspired generations of people to come to Guilin in search of her life, of folk songs in Guangxi as well as of the blue hills and clear waters here in Guilin. Impression·Sanjie Liu, therefore, has been the best artistic response to this wish.

Set against 12 peaks along the beautiful Li River in Yangshuo, the show slowly unfolds itself on the vast expanse of water under the infinite sky. Traditional performances are confined in the limited space of theaters. This grand show, however, makes nature its central stage and enjoys, therefore, unfettered freedom in its artistic expression. Traditional stage performances are merely the result of human efforts. This performance, however, is a cooperative masterpiece between men and nature.

By highlighting four scenes of red impression, blue impression, golden impression and silver impression, the show seeks to combine different artistic elements, such as Sanjie' Liu singing, ethnic customs, fishing life on Li River and gives prominent expression to the theme of a harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

On 22nd of March, famous director Feng Xiaogang attended the news conference on Nightly Princes' City, a large panoramic experience show, in Guilin. The event confirmed that Feng Xiaogang would lead a professional team in designing and directing the show. With a total investment of 300 million yuan, the experience show will make full use of local tourist resources best represented by Solitary Beauty Hill and Jingjiang Princes' City and also introduce a whole new concept of performance featuring a combination of scenic and cultural sights, as well as mu sic, dance and Potpourri.
