The bridge was painted “International Orange〞 because that color went well with the natural surroundings. The color also is easier to see in the heavy fog that often covers the area. But the Golden Gate Bridge was not named for its orange color. It was named for the body of water that it crosses, the Golden Gate Strait, which is the entrance to the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean.

Given the tradition of students bringing apples to their teachers, it somehow seems fitting that an old apple barn(谷仓)will find a new life as a one-room schoolhouse. And it is just as fitting that a retired schoolteacher will become the caretaker of that historic treasure.
My friend Velma, a teacher for more than 30 years, has been retired for some time now, but that doesn’t stop her giving history lessons at the old Englewood School, located on her family’s California farm. The lovingly restored building was constructed around 1850 as a home for a woodsman and later was used as an apple barn. Then, in 1870 it began a new life as a schoolhouse.
Originally located in the nearby Englewood meadow, it was now moved its current
site in 1978 by Velma's late husband and his brother, Robert and Richard, who thought
it would help keep Velma busy in retirement. No nails had been used in the original
construction, so each piece of wood had to be carefully marked and the building was
reassembled(重装)on its new site. The brothers worked with much care and hard work to
ensure a perfect fit of mitered(斜接的)comers. After the relocation.Velma and her family
furnished the school with some of its original desks. They also added a collection of schoolbooks,
the oldest dating back to 1845.
Nowadays Velma gives tours to local schoolchildren and other groups, who learn what it was like
to attend school back in the good old days. She has kids ring the school bell, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing “Good Morning to You〞 as they might have done in days gone by.Then, with twinkling eyes and much enthusiasm, she tells the history of the school, and gives a short sample lesson.33.What was the Englewood School used as before it began a new life in 1870.
A.a lady’s house B.a schoolhouse C.an apple barn D.a restroom.
34.Which word can best describe the school’s being relocated?

Things to Remember When You’re Having a Bad Day
Even the hardest days contain lessons that will help you be a better person. Feeling down? Consider these things to remember when you’re having a bad day.

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to give up, that is strength. 39 . It is hard to find much to smile about when you fail, but how else would you improve yourself? If you look at failures as a part of your growing process, you’ll stay positive and follow your goals for as long as it takes.
●It’s OK to cry sometimes.
Do not apologize for crying. Without this feeling, we are only robots. Don’t be afraid of crying.

One sentence from the news in Washington has remained in my mind since a trip last summer: “When you see people run against the crowd escaping 61 the danger, they are 62 (probable) firefighters, police or journalists.〞
I think this is most true for the firefighters. Whenever and wherever 63 (disaster) happen —9/11 Attacks in New York 14 years ago or the explosion in Tianjin on Wednesday night —it is always the firefighters 64 take the lead to run to the very center, saving lives by 65 (risk) their own. I cried today near the explosion site, not because of the smoke from the ongoing fire 66 because of a short message a firefighter sent to a trusted friend that went viral online. It reads, “If I cannot make it, my father is 67 (you) father; and please remember 68 (sweep) my mother’s tomb.〞 I was thrilled later to learn that he did make it.
“Everyone knows it’s 69 (danger) to be a firefighter. But he has always liked it and has done it for 12 years,〞his father said. “He survived this time, but no one knows what 70 (happen) next time.〞

As it is known to us, fewer and fewer students do sports regularly, what makes them weak and easily tired. There are many reasons of this. First of all, some of the students complained that they have too many homework, resulting in less time to take exercise. Beside, some of them think that it is very difficulty for them to keep doing exercise, because it is a very hard thing.
Because lack of physical activities, many students are in poor health. I suggest that our school must take measures to encourage more students to take part in sports. For us students, no matter what busy we are, it is necessary to spare some time to do exercise.
