1My SisterMy sister's name is Emily and she is the best sister ever! She is 8 years old, which makes her 3 years older than me. Emily has long brown hair and pretty green eyes. She is taller than me and really good at running and climbing trees. Sometimes I get jealous of how strong and fast she is, but I know I'll catch up to her soon since I'm still growing!Emily and I do so many fun things together. Our favorite thing is probably playing make-believe games. We have a big backyard with lots of trees and bushes, which makes the perfect setting for our imaginations to run wild. Sometimes we pretend we are brave explorers trekking through a dense jungle in search of treasure. Other times we are powerful wizards casting spells and battling evil dragons and monsters. No matter what fantasy world we dream up, we always have the best time acting it out together. We also love doing arts and crafts projects. Emily is really artistic and creative. She can draw amazing pictures and makes up the coolest ideas for crafts. Just last week, we made puppets out of old socks and put on an entire puppet show for our parents. Emily did all the voices and made the puppets move around so lifelike. I mostly just followed her lead, but it was still a blast! When the weather is nice, we go on adventures outside. We'll pack a small backpack with snacks and head off to explore the woods behind our house. Emily is an expert at finding cool things in nature like bird nests, beaver dams, and animal tracks. She taught me how to identify different kinds of trees and plants. We pretend we are brave settlers charting through the wilderness. Even just walking on the trails is fun when Emily is with me because we use our imaginations to make it more exciting.Emily is also teaching me how to ride a bike without training wheels. I was scared to take them off at first, but Emily showed me all her techniques for balancing. She runs alongside me holding the back of the seat to keep me steady. Little by little, I can go further and further without her help. Emily is always so patient, encouraging me and making sure I don't getdiscouraged. With her as my teacher, I know I'll be zipping around the neighborhood in no time!We have a blast just hanging out at home too. We have a big toy box full of dolls, action figures, building blocks, and other toys that we love playing with. Emily and I build awesome Lego cities and houses, then make up stories about the different characters living in them. We also play games like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, and Hi-Ho Cherry-O. Emily usually lets me win if I'm getting too frustrated - what a nice sister!Emily looks out for me in so many ways. At school, she makes sure no one is picking on me at recess and always introduces me to her friends. She shares toys and snacks with me without me even asking. If I ever get in a argument with our parents, Emily will calmly take my side and convince them that maybe I wasn't totally wrong. I'm so lucky to have a big sister who has my back.I know I'm really blessed to have Emily as my sister. She is my best friend, my partner in crime, and my role model all in one. We have such a great bond and truly enjoy each other's company. I can share my deepest secrets, silliest jokes, and biggest dreams with Emily without any judgment. Her loyalty, kindness, and love for me is unconditional. Some kids only see their siblings as annoying pests, but not me. Emily makes my childhood magical and filled with so many wonderful memories. She is the brightest light in my life. No matter how old we get or where life takes us, Emily will always be my closest friend who I can count on forever. I'll cherish the time we have together as kids making up games, using our imaginations, and just being spontaneous and silly with no cares in the world. These days are precious and fleeting. I'm so grateful to have an incredible sister to experience them with. Hopefully when Emily and I grow up and have our own kids someday, our bond will allow us to remain just as close. I can't wait to see what adventures await us next!篇2My SisterMy sister's name is Emily, and she is three years older than me. She is the best sister anyone could ever ask for! We are always together, playing, laughing, and having fun. Even though we sometimes fight over silly things, like who gets to choose the TV show or what game to play, we make up quickly and go back to being the best of friends. One of our favorite things to do together is play pretend games. Emily has a vivid imagination, and she comes up with the most amazing stories and characters. Sometimes we pretend to be brave knights fighting dragons, or explorers discovering new lands. Other times, we become princesses in a magical kingdom, or secret agents on a top-secret mission. No matter what we play, we always have a blast! We also love to read books together. Emily is a great reader, and she often reads aloud to me. Her voice is so expressive, and she does different voices for each character, making the stories come alive. My favorite books are the ones about adventures and fantasy worlds, but Emily also enjoys mystery and detective stories. After she finishes reading a chapter, we discuss what might happen next and make predictions. It's like we're part of the story ourselves!Another activity we enjoy is arts and crafts. Emily is incredibly creative and can make the most beautiful things out of simple materials like paper, crayons, and glue. She has taught me how to make origami animals, paper airplanes, and even jewelry out of beads and string. Sometimes we spend hours working on our craft projects, getting lost in our own little world of creativity. One of the things I admire most about my sister is her kindness and compassion. She is always looking out for me and making sure I'm okay. If I fall and scrape my knee, she's the first one by my side, offering a hug and a band-aid. If I'm feeling sad or upset, she knows just what to say to make me feel better. She's also incredibly patient and never gets frustrated when I need help with something, like tying my shoelaces or learning how to ride a bike.Emily is also very smart and does well in school. She's always willing to help me with my homework, explaining things in a way that makes sense to me. Sometimes, she even makes up little games or rhymes to help me remember important facts or concepts. She's like a built-in tutor, but way more fun!One of our favorite things to do is have sleepovers in each other's rooms. We stay up late, telling stories, giggling, and sharing our deepest secrets. Emily is the best secret-keeper, and I know I can trust her with anything. We also love to have dance parties, blasting our favorite music and making up silly dances. It's a great way to let loose and just be silly together. As we get older, I know our relationship will change and evolve, but I'm confident that our bond will remain strong. Emily is not just my sister; she's my partner in crime, my confidante, and my hero. I'm so lucky to have her in my life, and I know that no matter what happens, we'll always have each other's backs. In conclusion, my sister Emily is the most amazing person I know. She's kind, smart, creative, and always knows how to make me smile. We share so many wonderful memories and adventures together, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. Sisters are truly the best gifts life has to offer, and I'm grateful every single day for mine.篇3My Sister and What We Often Do TogetherI have a big sister named Emily. She is 10 years old and I am8 years old. Emily and I really like spending time together and doing fun activities. We are the best of friends! One thing Emily and I love to do is play make-believe games. Sometimes we pretend we are explorers trekking through a dense jungle. We use our basement as the "jungle" and make vines out of old jump ropes and binoculars out of empty toilet paper rolls. We have to watch out for the "wild animals" which are just our stuffed animal toys. Other times we pretend we are brave knights fighting evil dragons and saving princesses. Emily lets me use her plastic sword and shield for these games. Wetake turns being the dragon and the knight. When I'm the dragon, I make really loud roaring sounds! Emily always laughs at how silly I sound. We also enjoy doing arts and crafts together. Emily is really good at drawing so she teaches me fun techniques. One of my favorite things she showed me is how to draw cartoon animals. I can now draw pretty good dogs, cats, and bunnies. Emily is awesome at making friendship bracelets too. She patiently teaches me the knotting patterns and helps fix my mistakes. I've made a bunch of bracelets to give to my friends. For Christmas, Emily and I like to make homemade cards and decorations for our parents and grandparents. We use construction paper, glue, glitter, and other craft supplies. It's so much fun getting creative and making special gifts.Emily and I both really like sports so we spend a lot of time playing outside together. Our favorite game is basketball and we have a hoop mounted over the garage. We practice dribbling, passing, and shooting hoops. Emily is better than me because she's taller, but I'm catching up! When we get tired of basketball, we'll toss a frisbee or kick around a soccer ball. We run around chasing each other and laughing like crazy. Sometimes we just walk around the neighborhood looking for cool rocks, interesting leaves, or funny looking trees. We once found a huge icicle that we played withunsafe swords! On rainy days, we entertain ourselves inside with board games and puzzles. Our favorite game is Candy Land - I always want to be the green player. We get silly and make up funny voices for our characters. Emily is much better than me at jigsaw puzzles. She has a lot of patience for finding where all the pieces fit together. I sometimes get frustrated and give up, but Emily encourages me to keep trying. We also love to bake cookies, cupcakes, and brownies together. Emily is old enough to help measure and mix ingredients. She always lets me lick the spoon and batter bowl when we're done!I'm so lucky to have Emily as my big sister. We never get bored or lonely because we always have each other to play with. Emily looks out for me and keeps me safe, but she also makes me laugh with her goofy jokes and faces. We have amazing adventures together using just our imaginations. Even though we fight sometimes over sharing toys or who gets to pick the game, we always make up quickly. Emily is my very best friend in the whole world and I can't wait to keep having fun with her as we get older. Sisters are the best!篇4My SisterI have a big sister named Emily. She is ten years old, and I'm seven. Emily is the best sister ever! We do so many fun things together. One of our favorite things to do is play games. Emily taught me how to play lots of cool games like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, and Go Fish. We also love playing make-believe games where we pretend to be everything from princesses to superheroes. Emily is really good at making up stories and adventures for us to act out. Sometimes we even put on little plays for our parents!Emily and I also enjoy doing arts and crafts together. We have a big box full of crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue, scissors, and all kinds of fun craft supplies. We make drawings, paintings, and all sorts of creative projects. One time we made birthday cards for our whole family. Another time we made puppets out of paper bags and put on a puppet show. It's so much fun to be creative and use our imaginations. In the summer, Emily and I spend a lot of time playing outside. We have a swing set and a little playhouse in our backyard. We take turns being the mom and the dad and cooking pretend meals. Sometimes we play games like tag orhide-and-seek too. When it gets really hot, we run through the sprinklers to cool off and have lots of laughs.Emily is also a really good reader, so she often reads books to me before bedtime. I love cuddling up next to her and listening to her read stories with fun voices for all the characters. My favorite books are the ones about dragons and knights having big adventures. Emily is an amazing storyteller.Even though Emily is older than me, we still get along really well most of the time. Sure, we bicker and disagree sometimes like all siblings do. But at the end of the day, Emily is my best friend. We share so many silly jokes and special secrets. I'm so lucky to have a awesome big sister to do all kinds of fun things with!Sometimes Emily has to go to her friends' houses or do other activities without me. Those times can be kind of lonely. I really miss having her around to play with. But I know she'll always come back, and we can pick up where we left off with our imaginations and shenanigans.Emily helps me with so much too. If I'm having trouble with my homework, she tries to explain things in a way I can understand. If I can't reach something, she'll get it down for me from up high. And if I'm feeling sad or scared, she's always thereto give me a big hug and make me feel better. She's the best big sister anyone could ask for.I'm sure as we get older, Emily and I will keep finding fun new things to do together. Maybe we'll join a sports team or take an art class. Maybe we'll go on camping trips or have sleepovers with friends. Or maybe we'll just keep making up crazy games and adventures right in our backyard. No matter what, I know Emily will be by my side as my partner in crime, making every day an exciting new memory. Sisters really are the best!篇5My SisterMy sister's name is Emily and she is two years older than me. She's ten years old and I'm eight. Even though Emily is older, we get along really well and love spending time together. We do lots of fun things as sisters! One of our favorite things to do is play make-believe games. Emily is so creative and comes up with the most imaginative stories and adventures for us. Sometimes we pretend we are explorers trekking through a jungle in search of a lost city. Other times we are princesses ruling over a magical kingdom. My sister always has the best ideas! We also enjoy doing arts and crafts together. Emily is really good at drawing and painting. She taught me how to draw animals and people. I'm not as good as her yet, but she is very patient with me. We like making things out of clay, painting rocks we find outside, and using recycled materials to build little houses and vehicles. Getting creative and crafty is one of our favorite pastimes.Emily and I love reading books too. We take turns picking books from the library and then read them out loud together. We get really into the stories, using different voices for the characters. It's so much fun! After we finish a book, we spend time discussing our favorite parts. I hope I can read as well as my sister one day.One of my most cherished memories is when Emily stepped up to protect me from a neighborhood bully. This big older kid was picking on me and Emily bravely stepped in to defend her little brother. She stood up to the bully and wasn't scared at all. Seeing her courage and loyalty in that moment only made me love her more. Emily is always looking out for me.Even though we do tons of indoor activities, we also try to spend time outside being active. Emily taught me how to ride a bike and we love going on family bike rides together. We'll raceeach other and she'll let me win sometimes. We also like playing catch, jumping on the trampoline, swimming at the pool, and building forts or obstacle courses in the backyard. My sister has limitless energy! When the weather is bad, we create our own fun indoors. We put on silly performances for our parents, build houses and castles out of cardboard boxes, and have dance parties in the living room. We even started our own little club that only Emily and I are members of. We make up secret handshakes and everything! On rainy days, we love playing board games and solving puzzles together. We make it a competition to see who can finish their puzzle first or beat the other at Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders. I don't mind when Emily wins because I know I'll get her next time. We are both very competitive, but always have a lot of laughs when we play.At night before bed, Emily and I do "top secret sister chat time." We tell each other about our days, share our hopes and dreams, and talk about our feelings. Sometimes we stay up way too late giggling and whispering to each other! We promise to always keep each other's secrets safe.I'm so lucky to have an amazing big sister like Emily. She's super fun, caring, creative, and brilliant all at the same time. We may pick on each other sometimes like all siblings do, but I'll always admire and look up to her. She's my partner in crime, my best friend, and the best big sister a kid could ask for. I hope we'll be as close when we're grown-ups as we are now. Emily is simply the best!篇6My Big SisterI have a big sister named Emily who is three years older than me. She's 11 and I'm 8. Emily is the best big sister ever! We do so many fun things together. One of our favorite things is playing make-believe games. Emily is really good at coming up with imaginative stories and adventures for us to act out. Sometimes we pretend we are explorers trekking through the jungle. Our backyard becomes a dense rainforest full of vines, exotic animals, and hidden treasures. Other times we are pirate sisters sailing the high seas in search of treasure islands. We use old sheets as ship sails and pretend the playground is our pirate ship. We talk in piratevoices and have epic battles with evil rival pirates. Emily is always the captain since she's older. I'm her loyal first mate.We also love having sleepovers in each other's rooms. We'll build a giant pillow fort out of blankets and all the pillows in the house. Then we snuggle up inside and read books, tell stories, or watch movies on the portable DVD player until we fall asleep. In the morning, we have a fancy pretend tea party in the fort with my stuffed animal guests. Emily is really good at putting on fun little plays and skits with her dolls and stuffed animals for me.Emily and I makeupourown dance routines and music videos too. We'll choreograph silly dances to our favorite pop songs. Then we perform them and record videos on mom's phone. We like dressing up in crazy mismatched outfits and wigs to make the videos even funnier. After, we'll try to edit the footage to add special effects and funny filters. It never works that well, but we have a blast trying.Another thing Emily and I really enjoy is arts and crafts. We can spend hours coloring, painting, or making friendship bracelets. Last summer, we had a lemonade and snack stand business to practice being entrepreneurs. We painted a big wooden sign and spent days making beaded necklaces, keychains, and other little crafts to sell. Emily handled the money because she's better at math than me.We also like making up skits, plays, and short films together. Emily is a talented artist, so she'll draw or paint all the scenery and backdrops. Then we'll gather up all our stuffed animals and toys to be the characters and actors. Sometimes our parents will even let us borrow their clothes and household items to use as props and costumes. We've recreated scenes from our favorite movies and made up our own silly stories for hours of endless fun.Playing outside and being active is something we do a lot too. We'll go on pretend adventures around our neighborhood, hiking through the woods and going on treasure hunts. We also like swimming together at our local pool on hot summer days. We'll race and play all kinds of pool games for hours. Emily shows me new tricks and swimming strokes she's learned. When it's cooler out, we love riding our bikes and skating at the park. I'm still learning so Emily helps teach me.At home, we watch lots of cartoons and kid shows together. Emily and I often like to draw our own comic books or picture books based on our favorite characters. We create wild storylines and add tons of color to the illustrations. Making up silly jokesand puns is something we both really enjoy too. We're constantly trying to out-pun each other and make the other one laugh the most. Mom says we're both little comedians.Emily is such an amazing artist that I'm constantly in awe of her skills. She can draw literally anything whether it's an animal, character, landscape, you name it. I beg her to draw different pictures for me all the time. She even writes and illustrates little comic books just for me sometimes as a surprise. I cherish each one.We also have fun playing board games and video games together. Our favorites are classics like Candy Land, Guess Who, Life, Sorry, and Uno. When it comes to video games, I'm honestly not that good but Emily is really patient with teaching me new games or helping me out when I'm stuck. We like a lot of the Mario, Pokemon, and Lego games. We can spend rainy days playing games for hours.Another thing we do is play school together. Emily will be the teacher and give me mock lessons and homework assignments. She comes up with math equations, spelling words, and other little exercises for me. Then I'll "turn in" the homework for her to grade. She'll use a red pen to mark it up and everything. It's really good practice for me and Emily loves being in the teacher role. I think she'll make an awesome teacher someday.Of course we have our share of silly sisterly fights and squabbles too. We're not perfect angels by any means. But at the end of the day, we really do love each other so much. Emily is my very best friend in the whole world. We tell each other everything and do ask parents say we're like two peas in a pod. I'm just so lucky to have such an amazing big sister to look up to and do all these fun things with every day. Sisters really are forever best friends!。

Based on Jodi Picoult's novel of the same name [1] My Sister's Keeper was released in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom on June 26, 2009.2. Brief introduction of the plotConceived by means of in vitro fertilization, Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) was brought into the world to be a genetic match for her older sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), who suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia, in order to keep her alive. Her family members are introduced one by one and each tell about how Kate's illness has affected them personally and the family. When Kate turns 15, she goes into renal failure. Anna knows that she will be forced by her parents to donate a kidney. She also realizes that she may not be able to live the life she leads - she may be unable to cheer-lead, play soccer, or be a mother. Anna tells her parents that she does not want any of this, and proceeds to sue them for medical emancipation and the rights to her own body. Her overprotective mother, Sara (Cameron Diaz), who leads an obsessive campaign to keep Kate alive is indignant at Anna's decision and even strikes her across the face when she receives the notice of intended prosecution. Attorney Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin) agrees to work for Anna as her guardian ad litem, suing for partial termination of parental rights. It is later learned he agreed to take the case not for the notoriety, but because he has epilepsy and understands her predicament of not having control over one's own body. The film is interlaced with flashbacks that detail Kate and Anna's closeness, as well as how Kate's illness has affected her siblings' lives and their relationships. In a flashback, Kate also meets a fellow cancer patient, Taylor Ambrose (Thomas Dekker), whom she begins dating. After a date, they share their first kiss outside Kate's house, with Sara and Brian watching from their bedroom window. After this, he becomes her boyfriend in and out of hospital and supports her as she undergoes treatment. He then asks her to the hospital's "prom" for patients; there, they slow-dance, then proceed to a vacant hospital room to have sexual relations. A few days later, Kate is crying because Taylor hasn't called her for several days. Her mother Sara is furious when Kate mentions they did "stuff" after the prom and storms out toask the nurse where Taylor is, evidently believing that he had dated her daughter purely for his own ends, and learns that he has died.To Sara's dismay, the judge (Joan Cusack) refuses to grant summary dismissal, and the case goes to a hearing. During the hearing, Anna and Kate's older brother, Jesse reveals that Anna's actions are actually under Kate's instruction; Kate, not wanting to live any longer, and knowing Sara refuses to hear any option other than her desired one, had gently persuaded Anna to refuse to donate her kidney. Sara is indignant at this discovery, but is finally forced by both Jesse and Brian to realise that Kate had been trying to tell her this for some time. At around the same time, Kate makes a request to go to the beach one last time, and Brian, her father, obtains permission from her doctor and removes her from the hospital to take her and the kids. Overprotective as ever, Sara is furious when Brian shows up at the house with Kate and demands her to be returned to the hospital. Brian angrily refuses and drives off, threatening Sara with a divorce if she does not join them. Sara later shows up at the beach, where they enjoy one final family outing. Before the case is settled, Kate dies in her sleep at the hospital with her mother by her side. After Kate's death, Campbell brings the court decision: Anna won the case. The family moves on with their lives, but every year on Kate's birthday they go to Montana, which was her "most favorite place in the world." Anna also wonders why Kate had to die but she got to live. At the end, Anna says that their relationship continues because she will see Kate again.3. Matters behind the scenes.Originally, the sisters were acted by the sisters of Hollywood. However, when the elder sister knew that she had to cut all hair down, she refused to act and so as to her younger sister. So Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin were chosen to take part in the act.The film was adapted from the novel My sister’s keeper which was written by the American woman writer Picoult. The director of the film said that when he read the novel, he was touched and he decided to put it into the screen. He said: “Actually, the story is very simple, it is about how a family to save a dying child and that parents don’t have the right to use a child’s life to save another child. Although it is sensitive and disputed, I would shoot it.”4. Challenging roles4.1 The mother-- Sara Fitzgerald (Cameron Diaz)The mother in the film was a strong-willed woman. She was a careful mother. Once she knew her daughter was sick, she abandoned the work as a lawyer, and took good care of the family.Cameron Diaz decided to act the role at the first time when she read the play. She said: “I tried to understand the role, to realize her trouble and feeling, to think why she had made that decision. I think it is a real challenge for me to act this role.”In order to prepare for the role, Diaz had done a lot. She said that she went to chat with the parents whose children were sick, to see what they were thinking. And she would think for them. She said she had felt the strong feeling of hoping children to live on when she was preparing for the role.4.2 The father—Brian Fitzgerald(Jason Patric )Brian was the basis of the whole family. He acted as a yes-man before her wife, and he always looked with no physical strength. But he loved all his children very much.4.3 The elder sister-- Kate Fitzgerald (Sofia Vassilieva)Kate was an optimistic girl; she had been fighting against the illness for a long time. She loved her family very much, she never asked much. After acting the role, Sofia Vassilieva said: “the role lets me know what the true meaning of the living and life is, because Kate was so close to the death. All little things in the life were treasures for her, she is so stainless. It is the most wonderful role since I have acted.”4.4 The younger sister-- Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin)The central character of the film is Anna. It is what Anna had done that made the film significative. She was always supplying, but she refused to donate the kidney to her sister. The reason came out that her sister asked her to do so. Actually, she loved her sister very much, she didn’t want her to die.The actress Abigail Breslin was only 12 years old when she was nominated by the Oscar. She said: “I like the play very much, like all the people in the movie, like the family. I wanted to join them , so I chose the role as Anna. When I acted, I put myself in the play, considering what I would do if I had such a sick sister5. My point of viewIt is a touching movie, after watch the movie, I was moved. The film is full of warmness and sadness. Kate was dying, her mother was doing her best to save her, fighting against the illness. But nobody knew that Kate wanted to die because that the whole life of her is pain. Her mother insisted that Anna should donate a kidney to Kate. So Kate secretly told Anna to use the law to stop her mother forcing her to donate the kidney. At the beginning, I thought everything was unfair for Anna, she was always suffering the pain too. It seems that it is her duty to save her sister. It is so terrible for a so little girl. When I heard that she refused to donate the kidney, and her sister would die, I felt sorry. I think Anna was rude, but it was her right. When I got to know the truth, I was surprised and moved. These two girls are all lovely; Anna always loved her sister. She was willing to donate the kidney to save her sister. But the sister had suffered a lot, it didn’t seem good for her if she got to live. I was moved by the whole family.。

And while he knew somewhere deep in his bones that he would not get there with us,
he knew that we would get there.
we are our sister’s keeper... we are our brother’s keeper,
our sister’s keeper, and I told him, “either we go up together, or we go down together.”
And when he was killed the following day,
And on a night when cities across the nation were alight with violence, all was quiet in Indianapolis.
In... In the dark days after Dr. King’s death, Coretta Scott King pointed out the stars.
I remember asking her how she was able to manage all those burdens and she would explain that,
He preached the gospel of brotherhood; of equality and justice.
That’s the cause for which he lived — and for which he died forty years ago today.

Anna was born specifically(特有地) so she could save Kate's life. At first it was successful. And Anna was usually willing to donate whatever Kate needs.
But when Anna turned 13, she was told that she would have to donate one of her kidneys(肾脏). The surgery(手术)wasn’t guaranteed(保证) to work, as the stress of the operation may kill Kate; and the loss of a kidney could have a serious impact(影响) on Anna‘s life. Anna petitioned(请求) for medical emancipation (医疗决定权) with the help of lawyer Campbell Alexander, so that she would be able to make her own decisions regarding her medical treatment and the donation(捐献) of her kidney.
sister‘s keeper

Do you agree that it’s a difficult problem to figure out? One alive, the other dead. So, how will you choose?
one of my children was in it—and the only opportunity to save her was to send in my other child, because she was the only one who knew the way. Did I know I was taking a risk? Of course. Did I realize it meant maybe losing both of them? Yes. Did I understand that maybe it wasn't fair to ask her to do it? Absolutely. But I also knew that it was the only chance I had to keep both of them. Was it legal? Was it moral? Was it crazy or foolish or cruel? I don't know. But I do know it was right.
The sister's keeper读后感
The film My Sister’s Keeper tells us a story about a family. The older sister Kate was suffering the illness, and the whole families were sacrificed for Kate because of love. Yes. Because of love, the desperate mother Sara bore the huge stress and never give up the hope ;because of love, the tired father Brain followed Kate's will and took her to the sea; Because of love ,the poor sister Anna ,who was born to be a perfect donor match for Kate ,endured the pain providing cord blood; because of love, Kate's brother ,who had spent most of his life being ignored in favor of ill Kate or donor Anna, silently drew out his sister's looks; because of love, Kate's boyfriend Taylor, who suffered from cancer and finally died, said: "if I didn't have cancer ,I never would found you."The film, especially Kate's mother Sara, leave me a deep impression. Actually, we should admit what Sara was faced with is much more suffering. Love equipped her with bravery and strong will. However, it is the very love that threw her into the great dilemma. After Kate being ill, she quit her job as a lawyer, and became a full-time mother. To extend Kate's life, she made every effort and even be somewhat paranoid. But Kate's life, Anna's happiness and health, between which it's too hard for her to find a balance point. Her love for Kate and Anna tormented her heart. In the end, Sara failed to save Kate’s life. Love is power, but sometimes too much love would become a burden. She ignores the feeling of her son and her younger daughter, and most important, she ignores Kate’s feeling, she just keep moving even hurt others. Just because she know she couldn’t turn back. So the spot about Kate’s father took the family to the beach reveal that sometimes we should release love even how hard it is. Every member in Kate's family made great sacrifices, which were all due to their love for Kate. Without a happy ending, the film ended in the death of Kate. On the surface, love didn't make any difference for their destiny. However, love raised them up, love drove them to sacrifice and love made people's existence meaningful. No matter whether the miracles took place or not at the end, love made them get rid of loneliness ahead. So, I always believe that the most touching behaviors in the world are all from love, and all for love.。

Information about My Sister’s Keeper introductionJodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper(2004) explores the medical, legal, ethical, and moral issues related to long-term illness—a complicated subject in the contemporary world. In the book, thirteen-year-old Anna sues her parents for the right to control her body. Conceived as a sibling donor match for her sister Kate, who suffers from leukemia, Anna has undergone numerous procedures to provide Kate with whatever she needs to fight her disease, but when Anna learns she is to give up a kidney for her sister, Anna hires a lawyer and takes her parents to court.Picoult's idea for My Sister's Keeper came while doing research for her novel Second Glance (2003), when she was intrigued by information about eugenics in the United States in the 1930s. Supporters of eugenics wanted to improve the human race by allowing only those with desirable genetic characteristics to reproduce. Picoult also learned about stem cell research and linked the ideas, wondering if stem cell research could become human genome research. The related issues are complex and emotional.A news story about a mother in Colorado who conceived a child so that the baby could donate cord blood to save the life of his elder sister also captured Picoult's imagination. The author took the idea to the next level and added more invasive procedures to increase the story's drama and ethical dilemma.Picoult's personal experience also shaped the plot. Her middle child, Jake, had ten surgeries in three years beginning when he was six years old. Picoult's son suffered from cholesteatoma—a benign but potentially fatal tumor that can grow into the brain—in both ears. Because of this experience, Picoult understands the lengths to which a mother will go to protect her child and also how needs of a sick child are demanding for the entire family. My Sister's Keeper won a 2005 Alex Award from the Margaret Alexander Edwards Trust, and Booklist named it as one of the top ten adult books for teenagers. Reviewing the novel in Booklist, Kristine Huntley concluded, "This is a beautiful, heartbreaking, controversial, and honest book."Author BiographyJodi Picoult was born on May 19, 1966, in Long Island, New York, the daughter of Myron and Jane Picoult. She had a happy childhood growing up with her younger brother, Jonathan, in Nesconset, New York, on Long Island. Picoult began writing stories when she was young and continued the practice throughout her childhood. She also put her love of books to work with a job as a library page. While a student at Princeton University, Picoult studied creative writing with such luminaries as Mary Morris and Robert Stone. During her student years, she published two short stories in Seventeen magazine. After earning her bachelor's degree in English in 1987, Picoult held several jobs. She worked for a brokerage firm on Wall Street as a technical writer, as a copywriter at a two-person advertising agency, and.....Plot summary from wikipediaAnna Fitzgerald's older sister, Kate, suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Anna was conceived in order to harvest blood from her umbilical cord in order to use in treatments to help save Kate's life. Although the treatment was initially successful, Kate relapsed; ever since, Anna, the only compatible family member, has been used as a donor for any other bodily substance needed to treat Kate, who continues to swing between remission and relapse as she grows up.Anna is usually willing to donate whatever Kate needs, but when she is 13, she is told that she will have to donate one of her kidneys. The surgery required for both Kate and Anna would be major; it is not guaranteed to work, as the stress of the operation may well kill Kate anyway; and the loss of a kidney could have a serious impact on Anna's life. Anna petitions for medical emancipation with the help of lawyer Campbell Alexander, so that she will be able to make her own decisions regarding her medical treatment and the donation of her kidney.Anna's mother, Sara, is an ex-lawyer and decides to represent herself and her husband in the lawsuit. Over the course of the novel, she tries on several occasions to make Anna drop the lawsuit. Anna refuses to do so, but the resulting tension between her and her mother result in her moving out of the house to live with her father Brian in the fire station where he works. This is done on the advice of Julia Romano, the court-appointed guardian ad litem whose job it is to decide what would be best for Anna. Julia was once romantically involved with Campbell when they went to school together, but Campbell broke her heart when he left her. It is eventually revealed he left her because he discovered he had epilepsy and thought she deserved better. They get back together at the end of the book.Meanwhile, Anna's brother Jesse, who has spent most of his life being ignored in favor of ill Kate or donor Anna, spends most of his time setting fire to abandoned buildings with home-made explosives, using the knowledge that his fire-fighter father gave him to make the fires bigger and fiercer, and doing drugs. He is aself-confessed juvenile delinquent and pyromaniac, and the only time throughout the book that his parents pay him any attention is when Brian discovers that it is Jesse who has been setting the fires. Brian forgives him, and by the end of the book, he has reformed and graduated from the police academy.During the trial, it is revealed that Kate asked Anna to sue for emancipation because she did not want Anna to have to transplant, and because she believes that she will die anyway. The judge rules in Anna's favor, and grants Campbell medical power of attorney. However, as Campbell drives her home after the trial, their car is hit by an oncoming truck. Brian retrieves Anna, who is unconscious, and suffers an injury to the head, and Campbell, who suffers an injury to the arm, from the wreckage of the crushed car and rushes them to hospital. However, after some time, the doctor informs them that Anna is brain-dead, that the machines keeping her alive may as well be switched off, and asks them if they have considered organ donation. Campbell steps in, and declares that he has the power of attorney, and "there is a girl upstairs who needs that kidney." Kate is prepped for surgery, and Anna's kidney is successfully transplanted. Kate survives the surgery and goes into remission. Most of Anna's usable organs are removed for transplants in the future. Campbell and Julia get married, Kate stays in remission for at least 6 years, while Anna dies for her sister's life.Critical receptionIn review for The Washington Post, Katherine Arie described some of the characters as unconvincing, such as Brian, who is "too good to be true", Jesse, "a poster child for self-destructive behavior", and Kate, who is "as weak and wispy on the page as she's supposed to be in life", but ultimately called the book "a thrill to read".[5]In 2008 the American Library Association (ALA) and the office for Intellectual Freedom named My Sister's Keeper the 7th most frequently challenged book in the US.
