新高考专题二:七选五+完形填空(1)
一、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Think positive
How are you feeling today? If your head’s in a spin because you’ve had a bad night’s sleep, or maybe you’ve just got too much to do, the chances are you’re not in the best of moods. If everything seems like an effort and you have a negative attitude, the last thing you want to be told is to be positive!①__________.
Of course, developing a positive attitude is easier said than done.②__________When you’re feeling down, it is hard to be optimistic. But a study in the US has found that people who are optimists are more likely to live longer than those who have a more negative approach to life. So, maybe the thought of a longer life might encourage you to have a more hopeful outlook on life.
③__________Professor Lewina Lee from Boston University School of Medicine, who worked on the study, told the BBC that: “Our findings speak to the possibility that raising levels of optimism may promote longevity and healthy ageing.” And she advises that pe ssimists could benefit from doing things like imagining a future where everything turns out well.
④__________Vicki Siska says “Music feeds my soul. A sense of humor keeps things in perspective.” And Pippa Kennedy says “being grateful for what you have — and lots of chocolate —helps!”⑤__________That’s probably why other people have recommended doing yoga as well as staying fit and healthy to help maintain a positive outlook on life.
A.It doesn’t come naturally to everyone.
B.As we know, every coin has two sides.

There is a tree full of ripe plums (李子) with branches hanging over our house. Every single morning when I see plums on the ground, I am 1 . "Wow, plums!" I say to myself and look up at the 2 , and sure enough there are plums there.
I imagine the tree saying, "If I put the plum here, 3 where you walk, maybe you will see it." I step over the plum on the way out and see it on my way back, thinking how often I 4 it and step over it. Every time I 5 and see a plum, I feel as though someone has given me
a 6 .
"For me?" I said to the plum tree one morning as I 7 some plums. "You could have." Maybe we're supposed to offer our gifts to the world with generosity (慷慨) and love.
It seems that I have a hard time 8 that fruit falls freely from the sky. Is the tree 9 with me on purpose? Is there part of me that doesn't feel worthy of receiving 10 plums from the sky? Is life 11 to have moments that are so sweet and easy?
Sometimes it feels as though the tree were 12 to me and she were saying, "For you. For you. For you." When I listen to her, I feel the 13 of her offering, and this is when my heart breaks. Despite the 14 of a day, there can be tender, touching moments in nature that feel to me like there's a force out there that 15 me refreshed (振奋的).
