Ⅰ.Rsources available for teaching(可用的教学资源)
1. Definition of Resources(教学资源的定义)
It refers to books, any person, animals, or any object, that make teaching and learning easier, clearer and more interesting. Obviously, in teaching English, we will need different kinds of resources to make our teaching more effective. Some publishers nowadays provide teachers with a package of materials which include flashcards, pictures, storybooks, tapes or CD-ROMs.
教学资源主要包括课本、人、动物以及任何让教学更简单、更清晰、更有趣的物体。
当然,在英语教学中,我们需要不同的资源来让教学更有效。
一些出版商现在为老师提供整套学习材料,包括卡片、图画、故事书、磁带以及多媒体光盘。
2. Finding or creating some resources yourself(自己发现或创造教学资源)
①Create one’s own file of pictures and cards.
创建自己的文件图片与卡片;
②Use your own creativity and imagination to provide a better learning environment for the students.
利用创造力与想象力为学生提供更好的学习环境;
③Make your students an important resource.
使学生成为重要的资源;

Ⅱ. Exploring hidden resources(开发隐性资源)
In fact, there are a lot of resources that exist around us in the classroom which are very valuable for teaching and learning but are not being recognized or fully explored. Here we refer to these resources as hidden resources. They include things like our own gestures, facial expressions, imagination, creativity, our own emotions, our environment, and our knowledge and skills.
事实上在教室中我们身边有很多对于教学很有价值的资源没有被发现或被完全开发,这些资源被称为隐性资源,包括我们的手势、表情、想象力、创造力、情感、环境、知识及技能。
Creating your own resources for teaching and learning:
为教学创造资源的方法:
(1)Use yourself as resource(把自己当做资源)
You can create such a context for students to visualize things and talk about action sequences, and create situations in which a dialogue takes place, etc.
教师创造语境,学生以此来想象、讨论并描述对话情景。
(2)Using students as resources(将学生当做资源)
For creativity, we may ask students to draw their own pictures with imagination and then they can ask each other about their pictures.
对于开发创造力,我们可以让学生凭自己的想象画图,并与学生交流彼此的创作。
(3)Making use of students’drawings(利用学生画像)
For practicing descriptive language, for example, using sensitive adjectives such as thin, tall, short, solid, fat, etc. to describe a person or an animal, you can change the activity into a less personal one.
如:在练习描述性语言时,可利用thin, tall, short, solid, fat等形容词来描述人或动物。
(4)Making use of the surroundings(利用周围环境)
(5)Shadow theatre(投影)
It can be a very simple but creative way of learning and teaching with the help of a pair of scissors, paper and an overhead projector.
可通过利用剪刀、纸张和投影仪来帮助教学。
(6)Exploring emotions(探索情绪)
To explore emotions, we can do something to personalize students’learning.
通过探索情绪,可为学生指定个性化学习方案。
(7)Getting students to make their own dictionaries(引导学生创作自己的词汇字典。

(9)Making better use of your video resources(充分利用视频资源。

In this unit, we discussed a number of issues concerning using and creating resources. They cover mainly two areas: using available resources and exploring hidden resources. We hope that by the end of this section, teachers will have developed awareness and some techniques in creating necessary resources in order to build an optimal learning environment for students’learning.
