Teaching goals 教学目标

a. Words and phrases 生词与短语
copy, free for children under 12, receive a free copy of “Robot” magazine,get…for free, on the first day of the exhibition, pay… for the tickets

It never gets anything wrong.
We can get a copy of “Robo t” magazine for free if we go on the first day of the exhibition.

1) To get extra information from a poster.
2) To complete notes about a robot exhibition.
3) To extract information from a radio programme.
4) To complete an e-mail.

Step I Lead-in
1. Get the students to answer the following questions:
⑴Have you ever been to an exhibition?
⑵When and where was it held?
⑶What was the price?
⑷What did you think of the exhibition?
2. Tell the students there is going to be a robot exhibition in Sunshine Town. Daniel is interested in robots and has found a poster about the event. So let’s go to the International Robot Exh ibition
with Daniel together.
Step II Read and answer
1.Read the poster on page 32 and answer the questions:
⑴Where is the exhibition held?
⑵How long is it held there?
⑶When does it open and close every day?
⑷What’s the price of the tickets?
⑸What special gift can people get if they go there on12th March?
2. Explain to students that they will not be able to find all the information they need to complete the notes in Part A1 just from reading the poster. However, they should try to find as much information as they can.
Step III Listening
1. Ask: “Is there such a robot?” It can read books and help with studies.
2. Tell students they can complete the notes by listening to the radio programme.
⑴Listen to the tape for the first time to get its main idea. Explain the words: Japan, South,
Korea, language, memory.
⑵Listen to it to find the necessary information they need.
⑶Play the recording without stopping.
⑷Ask students to give their own answers.
⑸Check the answer with the class.
Step IV Explaining and practice
1.Explain the context of part A3. Remind students they can refer to the information on page 32 to
fill in the blanks. (Encourage students to complete this exercise on their own or in groups.)
2.Ask some students to read the email in class to check their answers.
3.Tell the students to practise reading the email.
4.Explain some language points: be interested in, That is really exciting news, We can get a copy
of “Robot” magazine for free if we go on the first day of the exhibition
