Her head hangs down and her strong arms let go as she balances on her back, high above the ground a move that’s all the more daring because she has no legs.Jennifer was a few months old when she was adopted by Sharon and Gerald Bricker. She had big brown eyes, a bright smile, and huge amounts of energy. When a doctor advised her adoptive parents to carry her around in a kind of bucket(桶), they refused.Jennifer soon learned to walk—and run—on her hands and bottom, and grew up fearlessly climbing trees and bouncing on the trampoline (蹦床)with her three older brothers. “ My parents didn’t treat me differently so I didn’t grasp the concept that I was different. I knew I didn’t have legsbut that wasn’t stopping me from doing the things I wanted to do. ”At the age of three she was fitted with artificial legs, but she never really took to them—she moved more freely without them.In 1996 the Olympic Games took place in Atlanta. Jennifer loved to watch th e women’s gymnastics team, and especially adored the 14-year-old Dominique Moceanu who competed for the US. When Moceanu and the women’s team won gold, Jennifer decided she was going to be a gymnast, too. She took up power tumbling, which involves performing floor exercises down a runway. But Jennifer did not want any allowances to be made for her disability. At the age of 10 she took part in the Junior Olympics and by age 11 she was tumbling champion for the state of Illinois.Jennifer now travels the world as an inspirational speaker and acts as an aerial performer.【文章大意】本文为介绍说明文。

已知sin α-cos α=-√52,则tan α+1tanα的值为( )A.-4B.4C.-8D.8【解析】选C.tan α+1tanα=sinαcosα+cosαsinα=1sinαcosα. 化简sin 2α+cos 4α+sin 2αcos 2α的结果是( ) A.14B.12C.1D.32【解析】选C. 由于sin θ=2cos θ,所以tan θ=sinθcosθ=2, sin 2θ+sin θcos θ-2cos 2θ =sin 2θ+sinθcosθ−2cos 2θsin 2θ+cos 2θ=tan 2θ+tanθ−2tan 2θ+1=22+2−222+1=45. 已知sin θ=asin φ,tan θ=btan φ,其中θ为锐角,求证:cos θ=√a 2−1b 2−1.【证明】由sin θ=asin φ,tan θ=btan φ,得sinθtanθ=asinφbtanφ,即acos φ=bcos θ,而asin φ=sin θ,得a 2=b 2cos 2θ+sin 2θ,即a 2=b 2cos 2θ+1-cos 2θ, 得cos 2θ=a 2−1b 2−1,而θ为锐角,所以cos θ=√a 2−1b 2−1.

课时提升作业四必修1Unit 4Earthquakes(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. AZhang Heng(78~139), a native of Nanyang in central China’s Henan Province, was a mathematician, astronomer and geographer of the Eastern Han Dynasty(25~220).Zhang’s greatest contributions were in the field of astronomy. In 123 he corrected the calendar to bring it into line with the seasons. In 132 he invented the first seismoscope. It was in the shape of a cylinder with eight dragon heads around the top, each with a ball in its mouth. Around the bottom were eight frogs, each directly under a dragon’s head. When an earthquake occurred, ball fell out of a dragon’s mouth into a frog’s mouth, making a noise.Zhang Heng was a supporter of the Hun, the ancient theory, which stated that the earth is inside an egg. He wrote, “The sky is like a hen’s egg and the Earth is like the yolk of the egg, lying alone at the center. The sky is large and the Earth is small. ”He also drew a detailed map of the heaven. His chart showed 124 constellations (星群) consisting of a total of 2, 500 stars, 320 of which were bright stars with names. “This is not including those observed by sailors, ” he wrote, “Of the small stars, there are eleven thousan d five hundred and twenty. ”However, Zhang Heng was not satisfied with his paper map of the sky. When his charts were completed, he hired craftsmen to build what may have been the world’s oldest three-dimensional models of the heaven. The first globes were made out of bamboo strips, but eventually he had a globe made out of bronze, which was almost five meters in circumference. This in itself would have been a remarkable accomplishment. But Zhang Heng took it one step further.
