广州牛津版英语九年级上册Unit2试题及答案
Shopping Habit in American
如果你经常跟随你的父母去购物,你会对中国的购物习惯有一定的了解。

但如果你到了美国,应当是什么也不知道了吧!下面我们就来了解一下美国人的购物习俗。

We can’t take too much baggage on the plane when we go to American. I’d like to tell you not to do much shopping before you go
there, but you can do it after you
arrive there. Many Americans are
not so rich, so they often go to the
“sale” shop or “discount stores”. I
believe you need to buy some
clothes because you should change
them every day. For example, in an
American college, neither
professors nor students are often
seen in the same clothes for two days. So you may find it necessary to buy more clothes than you have here—in China. While you are shopping in the states, you will find that prices change from store to store. They often buy some used clothes, furniture or other things. It may be an excellent way of saving money. Most second-hand clothes are rather good. If you are going to live in the States and need some furniture, you may rent them at low price, or you may also go to a “furniture exchange” place in the community.
Advertisements for “white sales” often appear in January, May, June or July. Once or twice every season, there will be “garage sales” in the community, where you can get almost anything at low prices. Prices at “discount stores” are as low as you can imagine.
根据短文内容,判断句子正(T)误(F)。

( )1. People cannot buy any baggage if you go to America by plane.
( )2. The phrase “white sale” means “sell something in low price”.
( )3. In American, many people go to “sales” shop or “discount stores”
( )4. In an American college, both professors and students often wear the same clothes for two days.
( )5. Most second-hand clothes in America are rather good.

Most people like buying things by touching them on a store shelf. Many people begin to feel some goods as theirs when they touch them. They have “mine, mine, mine” feeling as little as 30 seconds after touching an object.
In a study, some people were shown a cheap coffee cup, and were allowed to hold it for 10 seconds or 30 seconds. They were then allowed to buy it in either a closed or an open place. The people knew the real price of the cup before they began to buy.
If people hold the cup for a longer time, he will pay more for it. In fact, people who hold the cup for 30 seconds pay more than the others. “The amazing part of this study is that people can become almost attached to something like a cup.” Said James Wolf, “By touching the cup and
holding it in their hands, they begin to feel the cup is theirs. Once they begin to feel it as theirs, they are willing to keep it.”
Many businessmen use this way to sell their things. For example, car sellers send the buyers out on test drives and pet shop owners encourage people to play with the dogs in the window. When you are testing out new cars, you are going to buy it at once. But you can do better if you get ready for it.

In May of 2011, I graduated from the University of Illinois, but after months of searching I couldn’t find a job. I became discouraged; I had thought that life after college would be exciting, and filled with possibility.
One day my sister, who is pregnant, joked with me that I could just take care of her baby when it arrived in a few months. This gave me an idea; since I love kids, why not find work looking after them? After seriously considering this, I decided to become an au pair.
So I went to Munich to take care of a 2-year-old boy for a single mom. My host mother is very kind. She took me with her to Australia on vacation, as well as showing me around Munich.
My biggest fear was that I wouldn’t make friends. At first, in fact, I was very lonely. Then, through the Internet, I came to meet other au pairs and start making friends. Playing time with my little brother is wonderful, and I often go out with another au pair and her kids.
Though I like my job very much, I had another reason to take it—namely, to travel! It’s easy to get from one country to another here. I’ve only been in Munich for 3 months, and I have visited Austria, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic already. I’m now planning a t rip with my friends to Rome next month!
I’m not going to say it was easy to leave my friends and the culture I knew so well, I know this will be the year of my life—the most enriching and exciting time I have ever spent.

New York City becomes a magical place every year during the holidays. The Rockefeller Center is a place of joy, love and music for a few months every year. I will never forget my first trip to this magical place during the Christmas break. I hope you can enjoy this story.
I grew up not far from New York City in Port Jervis New York. Each year I went to the Rockefeller Center with my aunt and sisters. I was 10, I think, the first time I went. My aunt, sisters and I drove to Hoboken to get on the Path train, which is the subway to Grand Central Station, I spent the day in Hoboken, with so much to look at and enjoy. I felt words away from home, though we had traveled less than 2 hours. We visited the Empire State Center, the World Trade Center, and other landmarks during that day.
FAO Schwartz was, by far, the best place I had been in all of my 10 years. I walked through the toy store, touching the dolls and laughing at the people playing music with their feet. There were toys in this store that I had never heard of. After visiting the toy store and having dinner, we walked to Rockefeller Center. I think I almost cried at the beauty of the scene.
Though I have been back to this place many times, the first time I visited the Rockefeller Center during the holiday season is a special and magical memory.
