Erik Ahlstrom came up with the idea. Early in 2016, Ahlstrom became bored with the growing rubbish on the road during his daily bike ride to his planting farm. Since picking up rubbish while on his bike was hard to do, Ahlstrom began joining the activity into his daily runs.

Other joggers soon joined Ahlstrom. By the end of 2016, the activity became so popular that official “plogging” events took place all across Sweden. Many groups of runners also took part in it. As plogging became popular on social media, the new “sport” started to spread beyond Sweden, first to other European countries and then worldwide now. The official online “Plogga” group now has members from over 40 countries, from the United States to Thailand and Ecuador. “Clear your plate. Say no to waste.” “Don’t waste a grain of food.” In the cafeterias (自助餐厅) of schools and companies across China, banners (横幅) like these have been put up everywhere. They are part of a nationwide campaign (活动) to cut down on food waste in China.
Food waste has become a big problem these days. According to the United Nations, 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted every year--- that’s about a third of the world’s total food. In China alone, the restaurants wasted 17 to 18 million tons of food a year from 2013 to 2015. That could
feed 30 to 50 million people for a whole year, according to Chinese Academy of Sciences.
To push for the campaign , restaurants and catering associations (餐饮协会) in more than 18 provinces in China have all taken action to control food waste.
In Shanxi province, for example, restaurants have been asked to serve half portions (半份) to avoid waste. The Wuhan Catering association suggested that restaurants use the “N-1 mode”. For example, a group of 10 diners should only order enough for nine people at first. More food is only bro ught to the table if required. If people can’t finish their meals, they are also encouraged to take the leftovers (剩菜) home.
A related online activity has been launched on Sina Weibo. Users share photos or videos of empty plates after finishing their meals. Lots of famous pop stars have joined in and asked their fans to develop the habit of saving food. On Wechat, a mini-program called “Cleat Plate” invites people to exchange pictures of their empty plates for credit points (信用分). People can use the credit to buy things or donate food to children in poor areas.

Smart homes

How we spend our time can be divided into three groups, or “jars”. These would be the necessary tasks jar, the voluntary tasks jar and the happiness jar.
Every day, we spend time filling the necessary tasks jar. We fill this jar with useful things, like making money, housework, buying food. We then fill another jar with voluntary tasks. These are things that we do for others, but we may not enjoy them, such as taking children to activities and cooking family me als. Those jars are very important. If we don’t fill them each day, our family won’t be happy.
However, we often forget to fill the third jar --- the happiness jar. This is the jar that we fill with activities to make us happy. Is your happiness jar sometimes empty at the end of the day? We all have days like that. Between doing all the necessary and voluntary tasks, time flies quickly and before we know it, it is time for bed.
That is why each day we try to fill our happiness jar. Most days, I fill mine by going to the ballroom dance(社交舞) class with my husband and daughter. Between the music, the dancing and the friendship among the students, I always leave classes happier than when I entered.
Music is another way to make me happy. This week, I was glad to take part in an orchestra(管弦乐队) practice at my church(教堂). A small group of us met to practice Christmas music for a church service. It was a time of fun, friendship and music making. At the end of the evening, my happiness jar was full.
This week, think about how you spent your time. Are you doing enough activities that bring joy to your life? Or are the necessary and voluntary tasks eating up all your time? Try to find ways to achieve a balance(获得平衡) among your three jars. At the end of the day, hopefull y we’ve done all we can to make sure that our happiness jar is filled.
66. How many groups can we divide our time into?

C. Three.
D. Four.
67. Which of the following is TRUE about the writer?
A. She is always unhappy when she goes to the dance club.

68. What can we do to fill the happiness jar according to the passage?
A. Wash clothes
B. Watch a film
C. Mop the floor
