Hiring an English Teacher
Hi everyone! My name is Timmy and I'm in the 5th grade. I love learning English and think it's the coolest language ever. But you know what would make English class even more awesome? Getting a brand new English teacher to join our school!
Our current English teacher Mrs. Jones is really nice, but she's getting pretty old. She has been teaching English at our school for like a million years! Sometimes she forgets what she was saying in the middle of her lessons. And her handwriting on the board is so tiny and hard to read. Plus, a lot of the stuff she teaches feels kind of out of date and boring.
That's why I think our school needs to hire a fresh, young, fun English teacher to take her place when she retires next year. Someone with new ideas to make learning English way more exciting!
First off, the new English teacher has to be a native English speaker. Like born and raised in an English speaking country. That way we can all learn with the perfect accent and pronunciation right from the start. None of that weird foreign accent stuff that's hard to understand.
It would be so cool if they were from England or Australia! Then we could learn all the funny slang words they use over there. Or maybe even better - what if the new teacher was from
America? We could finally learn how to speak English with an awesome American accent just like in the movies and TV shows. Wouldn't that be wicked?!
The new English teacher also needs to be young and fun. Definitely no more of those old, cranky teachers who are always yelling at you to pay attention. We need someone lively with a great sense of humor who can really connect with us kids.
It would be amazing to have an English teacher who is into pop culture and memes so they can make references to stuff we actually care about in class. That would make grammar lessons or reading Shakespeare or whatever so much more engaging and easier to understand.
Oh! And they have to be a huge fan of video games, movies, sports, music etc. All the cool, modern stuff kids are into these days. Then they could use examples and stories from those things to teach us new English vocabulary and expressions. Anything to make vocabulary practice not feel like a total snoozefest.
Speaking of games, it would be an epic win if we could get an English teacher who loves designing fun educational games and activities for the classroom. That beats just sitting at our
desks doing bookwork any day. Way more chances to practice our English while playing and having a blast!
But the most important thing is that the new English teacher has to be a real expert at their job. They need to know every grammar rule backwards and forwards. And be a master of teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking to kids like me who are still learning English as a second language.
If the new teacher is incredible at explaining things in a simple, clear way we can all easily understand, that would be amazing. And if they are super patient, never getting frustrated when we make mistakes or misunderstand something, that's a huge plus too.
