Unit 9 When was it invented?
Reading Do you know when basketball was invented?
(一)教学目标:
(1)知识与技能:
1. Students can get information from the passage bout basketball. (使学
生了解篮球是如何发明创造的)
2. Students practice using the reading skills of skimming and scanning.(使学生练习使用略读和精读等阅读技巧。

)
3. find out the detailed information according to the directions by mind-mapping(学会用“思维图”这种阅读技巧完成阅读训练)(2)过程与方法:
By using PWP Reading method & Cooperation-study method to finish some tasks of reading , train students’ ability of identif y main idea and train students’ ability of understanding words in context.(通过运用PWP和小组合作的方法,训练学生使用略读,思维图等阅读技巧完成阅读任务,最终可以达到复述课文的目的。


(3)情感态度价值观:
Learn about popular sports in China and America’s NBA.(了解中国流行的运动和美国的NBA)
(二)教学重点:
Ss use the reading skills to get information from the passage about basketball.(学会运用各种阅读技巧从文中获得有关篮球信息。


(三)教学难点:Retell the paragraph with the help of mind-map。

(在思维图的帮助下复述课文)
(四)教学用具:录音机,课件,学案。

(五)教学过程:
Step1 Lead-in(课前三分钟)
1.Ask students to show their play.
2.Ask some students some questions about the play.
Step2 Warm-up
1.Play a video of NBA.
2.Ask Ss say something about basketball.
Step3 Pre-reading
1.Play the recording.
2.Guide Ss to finish 1st part of the worksheet(学案).
3.Check the answers.
Step4 While-reading
1.Ask Ss to read the passage quickly to finish 2nd part of the worksheet.
2. Encourage Ss to get points for the group by answering questions
3.Ask Ss to read again carefully and guide Ss to complete the mind-map(3a) on page 75.
4. Check the answers
Step5 Post-reading
1.Explain the rules of the quiz game
2 Ask Ss to count their total points and present prize to the winners
3.Encourage Ss to try to retell the information as much as they can (六)总结:The reading skill of mind-mapping.
(七)作业:
Surf the Internet to get some information about the history of a sport you like and write it down.
