According to a study, birds are building their nests(巢) with rubbish from humans. 1
A group of European scientists looked into bird nests. They found that birds use man-made things in nests almost everywhere on the earth except Antarctica (南极洲). 2 Blackbirds use plastic bags to build their nests, while storks (鹳) get nests built with cardboard. Seabirds are found to use fishing nets, and birds in cities in South America add cigarette butts (烟头) to nests.
3 This is why birds “like” putting it in their nests. For example, cigarette butts have some chemicals, which can drive insects away and protect baby birds. Plastic bags can keep animals warm, and other hard things can make nests stronger.
4 Rubbish may bring more harm to birds in the end. The toxic (有毒的) chemicals in cigarettes hurt the baby birds. The baby birds may get sick or have shorter lives, according to a 2014 study. If the cigarette still burns when the bird brings it back to its home, it may set fire to the nest.
5 Fishing nets may trap (困住) birds, and it’s impossible for them to get out by themselves. In a word, our friends in the air are feeling humans’ bad influence on the environment.
A.Some rubbish seems to be helpful.
B.Few birds help humans cut down on rubbish.
C.Different birds use different kinds of waste.
D.However, all these are just one side of the coin.
E.The birds will also get hurt if they mistake rubbish for food.
F.The rubbish mainly includes cigarette butts and plastic bags.

(共5小题;每小题1分,计5分)People use a computer to search for information, send e-mails, do shopping or play games. All these activities would not go well without a small mouse.
The world’s first computer mouse appeared in 1964. It was invented by Douglas Engelbart who worked in a research organization at that time. The mouse was mainly made up of a wooden “house”, a circuit(电路) board and two metal wheels. Engelbar t called his invention the “Bug”. Because the long “tail” on the back made it look more like a mouse, the name “mouse” became well-known soon.
8 years later, Bill English, an American computer engineer, developed the mouse further. He changed the wheels into a rolling(滚转的) ball at the bottom of the mouse. The “Ball Mouse” was easier to use. It was such a success that it could be found in lots of offices. It had its problems, though. For example, the ball became dirty easily from rolling around the desktop. The dirt had to be often cleaned out to keep the ball running well.
The disadvantages led to the next development in around 1980.It was then that the optical (光学的)mouse was invented. However, the mouse wasn’t widely used because it was too expensive.
The computer mouse has come a long way since its invention in the 1960s. It has been improved many times to meet the changing needs of users. But with the rise of touch screens, gesture (手势) control and voice control, is the computer about to move on into the future without its best friend?
Some experts believe the days of the computer mouse are numbered, because the touch screens make people and the computer closer and closer. Moreover, computers that can read our brains and facial expressions are in development. But some people think the mouse will still have a market—even with the development of new
technology. What’s your opinion about it?
