My Big Family
Hi! My name is Li Ming and I am 10 years old. I live with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all together in one house. We have a really big family! I am going to introduce you to all of them.
First, let me tell you about my parents. My dad's name is Li Jianfeng and my mom's name is Zhang Meili. Dad is 43 years old and mom is 40. Dad works at a big company as an accountant. He has to go to the office every day and do math and look at numbers all day long. It sounds kind of boring to me! Mom doesn't have a job outside of our home. Instead, she takes care of me and the whole family. She cleans the house, cooks delicious food for us, and helps me with my homework after school. I'm so lucky to have such a caring mom at home!
My paternal grandparents also live with us. We call them Yeye and Nainai, which means grandpa and grandma in Chinese. Yeye is 75 years old and Nainai is 70. Yeye was a teacher when he
was younger, so he is very wise and patient. He's also really funny and always telling jokes that make me laugh! Nainai loves gardening and grows all kinds of yummy fruits and vegetables that she uses for cooking. Her food is the best!
On my mom's side, I also have Gong Gong and Po Po which means maternal grandpa and grandma. Gong Gong is 68 and used to be in the army when he was younger. He's tall and strong and tells me I need to eat more to grow up big and powerful like him! Po Po is 65 and she's an amazing artist. She paints such beautiful pictures of flowers, animals, and landscapes. I want to be a great painter like her when I grow up.
My aunts, uncles and cousins all live with us too and our home is always bustling with activity! Dad has two younger brothers. My uncle Jingfeng is 37 and owns his own restaurant downtown. He's an excellent chef and makes the yummiest dumplings and noodle dishes. Uncle Jingfeng has a son named Wei who is 8 years old. He's my cousin and best friend - we love playing basketball and video games together after school.
My other uncle is Li Yichen and he is 32. Uncle Yichen is an engineer and builds big machines and robots for factories. That's such a cool job! He doesn't have any kids yet but he is married to my aunt Li Xiuying who is 30. Aunt Xiuying is a music teacher and
gives piano lessons to kids. She's teaching me too and I'm getting pretty good!
Dad's older sister is my aunt Li Mei. She's 45 and a doctor at the hospital downtown. She must be really smart to be a doctor! Aunt Mei has two daughters - my cousins Ling who is 12 and Shu who is 10. Ling and Shu are twins and we have a lot of fun together. We like putting on plays and concerts at home and dressing up.
On mom's side, I have aunt Zhang Xiaohong who is my mom's younger sister. Aunt Xiaohong is 36 and she's an architect, which means she designs big buildings and houses. I think that's a very cool job! She has a son named Wei who is 9 and another one on the way since she's pregnant right now. Cousin Wei and I love to build things together with Legos and blocks.
With so many people in one home, our house is always lively and there's never a dull moment! We have family dinners together every night where we all gather around the big table and eat the yummy food my mom and grandmas cook. Then we'll watch TV, play games, or just sit around and chat. On the weekends, the whole extended family will go on outings to the park, museum or movies together. My favorite is when we go to the countryside and go hiking! I feel so lucky to have such an
amazing, big family that loves each other. There's always someone to play with, learn from or get help when I need it. I never feel lonely! Even though taking care of so many people, cooking, cleaning and sharing everything must be hard work for my parents, grandparents and aunts, they never complain. Our family motto is "unity is strength" and we always stick together through thick and thin. I hope our close-knit family can stay happy, healthy and together forever!

I love playing fetch with him in the backyard and giving him lots of hugs and belly rubs.
That's my big, lovely family! We may be a little noisy and chaotic sometimes, but we always have lots of fun together. We go on family vacations during school breaks, have movie nights at home, and celebrate all the holidays and birthdays as one big happy unit. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing family that loves and supports me. They are the most important people in my life and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world!

First up is my mom and dad. My mom's name is Sarah and she's the best mom ever. She works at a big office downtown but she's always home by dinner time to make us yummy food. She makes the best spaghetti and meatballs! My dad is named Michael and he's a firefighter. He's super brave and strong and he's saved lots of people from burning buildings. My Big Happy Family
Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm going to tell you all about my family. We are a pretty big family with lots of people, but don't worry, I'll try to keep it simple.
First up is my mom and dad. My mom's name is Sarah and she is the best mom ever! She works really hard at her job during the day, but when she comes home she always has a big smile and gives me a huge hug. Mom makes the yummiest food, like spaghetti and chocolate chip cookies. She also helps me with my homework when I get stuck. My dad's name is Michael. He's really tall and strong and can lift me way up in the air! Dad loves telling jokes and being silly. On my dad's side of the family, I have grandma Diane and grandpa Frank. They live about an hour away, but we go visit them a bunch. Their house always smells like fresh-baked cookies or pie because grandma loves baking yummy treats for us. Grandpa used to work on a farm, so he tells great stories about the animals and crops he grew. He also takes me fishing down at the creek which I love.
Then there's my aunt Eva, uncle Dan, and my cousins Emma and Dylan on my mom's side. Aunt Eva is mom's sister and she's a police officer. She has a cool uniform and gets to drive a police car with sirens and everything! Uncle Dan works in an office.
Emma is 9 and Dylan is 6, so we have a blast together playing games and running around. They're a lot of fun to be around.
