Knowledge aims:
a) Words : shake, milk shake, blender, first, next, then, finally, drink, peel,
b) Phrases: turn on, pour into, put in, cut up,
c) Key sentences: How do you make a banana milk shake?
First, peel the bananas…
Then, cut up the bananas…
First…Next…Then…Finally…
Ability aims:
a) Learn the adverbs of procedure: first, next, then, finally etc.
b) Talk about making food, especially different kinds of milk shake.
Emotional aims:
To develop students’independence by doing things independently.
Let the students know the fairness of sharing housework with parents and how to care for them.
Teaching important points:
turn on, pour into, put in, cut up, First…Next…Then…Finally…
Teaching difficult points:
Describe the process of making food by using the imperative sentence correctly. Teaching procedures:
Step I. Warming up
T: Listen to a mother’s song of Zhou Jielun.
T: Mother’s Day is coming, what will you buy on Mother’s Day for your mother? S: I will send flowers to her/buy some beautiful clothes for her/
help mother do housework…
T : I usually make a big dinner for her, but today I want to make a special gift for her.
Do you know what is it? Please look at the picture.
S : It’s Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy.
T : Can you guess what does Angelababy eat?
S: Ice –cream/a kind of drink/ 刨冰/…
T : It’s a milk shake. Do you want to make a milk shake for your mother on Mother’s Day?
S: Yes, I do.
Step II. Lead-in
a)T: First, tell students the making parts of milk shake.
What’s your favorite fruit?
S: apple/orange/ strawberry/ banana/ pear/ watermelon.
Then, show three pictures of banana milk shake, apple milk shake and strawberry milk shake
T: Which milk shake do you want to make?
S: Banana milk shake/Apple milk shake /Strawberry milk shake.
T: Ok, Let’s make a banana milk shake.
Today we are going to learn how to make a banana milk shake.
T: What do we need to make a banana milk shake?
S: ….
T: First, show vivid bananas, ice-cream, milk, etc to students
Then, describe every step of making milk shake to students and ask them to repeat. Next, Let 4 students drink the banana milk shake to students
Finally, write down the key words on the blackboard.
b). Do 1a. Ask Ss to write the names of the actions. Choose the correct words. Ask Ss to fill in the blanks on their own. Then check the answers.
c). Read after the teacher and repeat for three times.
d) Focus on the pictures.
Ask the students to tell what they see in the picture.
Describe each action and ask students to repeat the following sentences:
peel the bananas/cut up the bananas/ put the bananas and the milk in the blender/ pour the milk in the blender/turn on the blender/ drink the milk shake.
Step Ⅲ. Game
a)Take out three bananas, two apples, three strawberries, a box of ice-cream and milk.
b)Ask two students to make their favorite milk shake by using the above materials.
c)Let one student describe the process to their classmates and one student do the milk
shake. Then other students repeat after them.
d)Give 4 cups of milk shake to their lovely classmates and they should say delicious
or not.
Step Ⅳ. Listening
1b Listen and put the instructions in order.
a).Write down their answers at the first time listening.
b). Let the students repeat the listening material sentence by sentence after the tape
c). Check their answers quickly.
Step Ⅴ. Pair work
Work on 1c:
a) Let Ss read the conversation with a partner in the big screen.
b) Two minutes for them to practice the conversation with their partner and show it . Step Ⅵ. Consolidation
Do exercise on the ppt.
Step Ⅶ. Homework
Mother’s Day (母亲节) is coming. Larry wants to make a milk shake for her mother on that day. Write her a letter to tell her how to make a milk shake. You can use the words first, next, then, and finally.
For example

Mother’s Day is coming. I’m happy I can help you. I’d like to tell you how to make a banana milk shake.
