If you look around your city, you might spot girls wearing hanfu in subways or people wearing T-shirts with Chinese characters on the streets. A new trend is taking hold in China—guochao, or"China-chic".
It means the rise of China's native fashion trends. It has expanded the concept of"Made in China", which has been recognized as the representation of Chinese culture offered by homegrown Chinese brands. China-chic came into the spotlight in 2018. During the 2018 New York Fashion Week, Li-Ning introduced its Taoism-inspired Wu Dao collection. The collection not only had a fashionable look, but also included elements of traditional Chinese culture. It immediately obtained attention at home and abroad. As a result, the company recorded 20 percent income growth in 2018, marking the first time the brand had hit the 10- billion-yuan mark since its founding.
Since then, the trend to hug home brands has spread rapidly to various sectors(领域)and products, from food and drinks to clothing, mobile phones and electric vehicles. For example, White Rabbit, whose sweet candy brings back childhood memories for many, launched its milk, cosmetics(化妆品)and so on. "We want White Rabbit to be a brand that young people want to share, " said Shen Qinfeng, the company's marketing manager.
This March, several Western brands refused to use Xinjiang cotton. To show national pride and cultural confidence, the"I support Xinjiang cotton" campaign spread across the country. Many Chinese turned to Chinese home brands that support Xinjiang cotton, like Li- Ning and Anta. No matter how the guochao trend changes, there's one thing that won't change: Behind the story is people's positive attitude toward the country's development and their recognition of and growing confidence in national culture.

Laughter is so important to humans that people can recognize it, even if they belong to a different culture or speak a different language. Humans also think of laughter as a way to connect and bond. What about other animals?
Scientists are studying if animals laugh to find out if there is a connection between laughing and playing. The work won't just help us understand animals better, but it could also help us understand how humans changed over time to laugh the way we do now. Sasha Winkler, a graduate student at UCLA, works with small monkeys. These monkeys would play together by chasing each other. One day, Winkler noticed a sound the animals made during the play. The monkeys sounded like they were out of breath. Then, Winkler read and reviewed research written by other scientists studying animals. And he found out that many animals laugh so that their play partner knows they are having fun. This is important because animal play can sometimes look like fighting. During the play, some animals also make a"play face", giving an expression like a smile to show that they are happy.
But animal laughs are not quite the same as human laughs. When compared to human laughs, animal laughter can sound very different. When some birds play, they make a purring (低鸣)sound. Humans may have started off panting like some monkeys do, but over time laughter became the sounds we use today.
One big difference between human laughs and animal laughs is that humans laugh much more loudly. Most sounds animals make during play are very quiet so they can only be heard by the animal they are playing with. But for humans, loud laughter is a sign that we're part of a group. It's really fascinating that so many animals use sounds during play. And those sounds are for reasons similar to why humans make sounds.
(1)What's the main function of paragraph 1?

At eleven years old, my main concern was money. Where could I get it? How much did I need to buy the new must-have thing my classmates either had or wanted? I went to my mom. "Mom, I need more money, " I said, leaning against the kitchen counter while she cooked dinner. "You think you need a job? " Mom asked with a smile. The next day, she had an answer. "Your grandmother will pay you to help her deliver lunch each day to the elderly. " Yes! I pumped(挥舞)my fist into the air.
When my grandmother picked me up. I couldn't wait to start my new job. "It's simple. We pick up a large container full of hot meals in a nearby town and then we go on our delivery route. " After dozens of meals were arranged in the backseat, my grandmother drove us to our first stop. The first house didn't look nice, but I shrugged and kept going. I didn't have to live there, just deliver food there. This was how I would make money. I nearly jumped when I glanced over to see a tiny old woman in the corner looking at me. She sat hunched(缩成一团)over in a rocking chair and had more wrinkles(褶皱)than I'd ever seen in my life. "Who is this nice young lady? " She asked grandmother. I just stood there holding the food, unsure what to do. My grandmother guided me inside to place it on her kitchen table. The house smelled bad and old like the antique stores my mom liked to visit, but I never liked because even breathing in the dusty air made me feel dirty. I held my breath until we went out.
The next stop was much the same and the next. The houses varied in size and shape, some were nicer than others, but the same wrinkly people waited for their meals. Each person smiled at me and thanked me as I hurried to get out of there. I was sweaty and tired, and my clothes had captured the smell of the food and old houses.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
By the end of the day, it was obvious that I wasn't very comfortable about the job.
My eyes widened, and I turned to her. "Their only meal? "

By the end of the day, it was obvious that I wasn't very comfortable about the job. "You don't have to help me, " my grandmother said. "I understand if the job isn't what you want to do."
I swallowed hard, thinking of money. Did I want to be comfortable, or did I want the money? "No, Grandma. It's okay. I'll get used to it. " Though, I was not convinced of my words. "If you're sure, dear. " A moment of silence settled over the car before she spoke again. "For a lot of the people we deliver to this is their only meal of the day."
My eyes widened, and I turned to her. "Their only meal? " She nodded seriously. "For some
of them we're the only person they see. Many of them are alone. " I thought about that. What if I was all alone? I couldn't imagine not having my mom, grandmother or my friends. When we were back at the house, my grandmother handed me the money I'd earned. It didn't seem quite as exciting anymore. I'd like to say that I did something incredible with the money I earned. I don't even remember what I bought for the elderly the next day. What matters are those people with smiles sinking in their wrinkled faces brought unexpected joy to my life while I brought them only a simple gift.
