There is also a kind of black hat in Britain which is called “bowler 9hat ”.The hat was first made by a London hatter 10called John Bowler in 1950.It was very popular between gentlemen 11and businessmen 12.And it also became a status 13symbol of British men.If one
wore a new and straight “bowler hat ”,people would think highly of 14him.If not,people would look down on the man who wore an old one.There is also a phrase 15“bad hat ”in English.It means “bad boy ”.What ’s more,people often use “as black as a hat ”to say
something very black.Maybe it ’s because of the “bowler hat ”.在英国有一种黑色的帽子，叫做“圆顶礼帽”。

1950年，伦敦帽匠约翰·鲍勒首次设计了这种帽子，在绅士和商人之间很受欢迎，同样也成为英国男人的象征。

如果一个人戴了
一顶新的、直筒的“圆顶礼帽”，人们会非常尊重他；相反，人们会看不起戴旧帽子的人。
