During the campaign, the city set one or more zones, which were open only to pedestrians, cyclists, taxi and bus passengers between 7 am and 7 pm and anyone traveling within the Inner Ring Road area during the time on that day chose to use public transport or walk.
The reasons for the campaign are as follows. Firstly it aims to raise residents' awareness on energy saving and environmental protection. Secondly, traffic jams can be eased if people walk, ride bicycles and take public transport facilities like buses and subways. On top of those, private car owners can keep healthy by walking and there will be fewer accidents.
As students, we should make people become aware of the importance of holding a "No Car Day". Besides, we should persuade the car-owners we’re familiar with to use cars as little as possible and do our best to protect our environment.。
