Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm having such an amazing time here in Canada! There is so much to see and do. I've already been on so many adventures and made lots of new friends. I can't wait to tell you all about it.
We started our trip in Toronto, which is a huge city with tall skyscrapers everywhere you look. The first day we went up the CN Tower, which is one of the tallest buildings in the world! You can go right up to the top and look out over the whole city. It was a little scary being up so high, but the views were breathtaking.
The next day, we went to the Royal Ontario Museum. It had the craziest dinosaur skeletons and fossils. My favorite was the gigantic T-Rex skull - its teeth were bigger than my whole hand! There were also lots of cool exhibits about ancient Egyptian mummies and Chinese terra cotta warriors. I felt like I was transported back in time.
After Toronto, we drove to Niagara Falls. The waterfalls were the most incredible thing I've ever seen! We rode a boat right up to the base of the falls and got absolutely soaked by the mist. The roar of all that water crashing down was deafening. I've never seen anything so powerful. We also went behind the falls and walked through tunnels where you could feel the thunderous pounding of the water. It was a little scary but so amazing!
From Niagara, we traveled to Ottawa, which is the capital city. We visited Parliament Hill and went on a tour inside the Parliament buildings. They were gorgeous with soaring stone architecture and stained glass windows. I felt like I was in a medieval castle! We also saw the Changing of the Guard ceremony where soldiers in red uniforms and big fuzzy hats march around. It was super cool.
My favorite part so far has definitely been our trip to Quebec City. It's the most charming old city with cobblestone streets and buildings from the 1600s. We stayed in a historic hotel inside the walled part of the city and it felt like being transported to Europe. We toured the Citadelle, which is a huge fort on the cliffs overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The best part was trying out all the delicious French-Canadian foods like poutine (fries with
gravy and cheese curds), tourtière meat pies, and maple syrup on everything!
Yesterday, we went dog sledding in the Quebec countryside. The sled was pulled by a team of friendly huskies and we got to take turns riding and helping control the sled. It was a lot of work keeping the sled going because the dogs pull so hard and fast. We had to use a foot brake to slow them down on the hills. Afterwards, we got to play with the dogs and feed them treats. They were all so cute and energetic! Dog sledding was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We've been having such an incredible vacation exploring all the different cities and trying new things. I've learned so much about Canadian history and culture. I can't believe we still have another week left with so many more adventures to come! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and bring back souvenirs for you both.
Missing you and can't wait to see you again soon!
Love,

Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm writing to tell you all about my amazing trip to Canada! I had such an incredible time and saw so many cool things. I can't wait to share everything with you.
We started our journey by flying into Toronto. The plane ride was really long, but I didn't mind because I could watch movies and play games. When we landed, I was so excited! Toronto is a massive city with tall skyscrapers everywhere. Our hotel had an indoor pool and a game room which was awesome.
One of the first things we did was go up the CN Tower. It's this giant tower that's over 1,800 feet tall! We took an elevator alllllll the way up to an observation deck near the top. The view over Toronto was breathtaking. I've never seen a city from so high up before. You could see for miles and miles in every direction. I felt like I was on top of the world!
The next day, we went to the Royal Ontario Museum. They had tons of cool exhibits on everything from dinosaurs to Ancient Egypt. My favorite was definitely the dinosaur section. They had enormous fossil skeletons of terrifying-looking creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago. I also loved seeing the Ancient Egyptian mummies and learning about their culture.
From Toronto, we drove about an hour to Niagara Falls. The falls were even more incredible than I imagined! We took a boat tour that brought us right up to the base of the Horseshoe Falls. I've never seen anything so powerful in my life. Over 600,000 gallons of water go crashing over the edge every second! The mist from the falls was like a constant shower raining down on us. Seeing that massive wall of water was mind-blowing.
After Niagara, we flew to the west coast to visit Vancouver and Victoria. Vancouver is a beautiful city surrounded by the ocean on one side and tall mountains on the other. We walked across the incredibly long Capilano Suspension Bridge which was a little scary because it's so high up and shakes when you walk! But the views of the trees and rivers below were amazing.
One of the highlights was going on a whale watching tour near Victoria. We saw lots of different whales like humpbacks, orcas, and grey whales. At one point, a huge humpback breached completely out of the water just a few hundred feet from our boat! It was insane. I've never seen anything so big jump fully out of the water like that. We also saw sea lions, seals, and bald eagles up close. The ocean out there is just teeming with incredible wildlife.
Our last stop was Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. This had some of the most beautiful natural scenery I've ever witnessed. The turquoise lakes, towering mountains, and lush green forests took my breath away. We went on a long hiking trail and saw the gorgeous Lake Louise up close. The water in the lake is such a brilliant, vivid shade of blue that doesn't even look real!
We also took a gondola lift waaaay up the side of a mountain at the Banff Gondola. From the top observation deck, you could look out in every direction at the Rocky Mountains all around you. The peaks seemed to stretch on forever into the distance. I felt so tiny surrounded by those massive snowy mountains!
I took hundreds of pictures on the trip, but no photo can really do justice to how beautiful everything was. I made so many amazing memories that I'll never forget. From the giant waterfalls to the whales to the Rocky Mountains, I saw so much incredible nature and wildlife. I hope I can visit Canada again someday because there's still so much I want to explore!
Thank you for letting me go on this trip, Mom and Dad. It was the best experience ever and I learned so much. I can't wait to tell you more stories in person! I'll see you in a few days.
Love,

Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm having so much fun on my school trip to Canada! We've been here for a few days now and I've seen and done so many cool things. I can't wait to tell you all about it.
We flew into Toronto and spent our first day exploring the city. Our tour guide Stephanie showed us around downtown. We went up the CN Tower which is super tall - I was a little scared of the glass floor at first but I got used to it. From up top you can see the whole city! We also saw the Rogers Centre where the Blue Jays baseball team plays. I tried a Canadian delicacy called poutine which is french fries with cheese curds and gravy on top. It was really tasty!
The next day we drove a few hours to Niagara Falls. The falls were breathtaking! We got raincoats and went on a boat tour that took us right up to the base of the Horseshoe Falls. I've never seen anything so powerful in my life - the water was thundering down everywhere. We even got to go behind the falls
and feel the water crashing on the other side. I've included a photo so you can see how wet I got! We also saw the beautiful floral gardens and had fun at the arcade.
After Niagara, we drove to Ottawa which is the capital city. We toured the Parliament buildings which are these amazing gothic buildings with lots of intricate architecture. We even got to watch a session and see the politicians debating! Our guide told us about the history of Canada's government which was really interesting. We also went to the Canadian Museum of Nature and saw the dinosaur skeletons and other cool exhibits.
From Ottawa we took a short flight up to Quebec City. It felt like being transported to Europe with the old buildings and cobblestone streets. We walked along the walls that used to fortify the city and our guide taught us about how it was founded by French settlers. We visited beautiful churches, tried local maple products, and learned about the French/English dynamics in the city. I tried speaking the French I've learned but I still need more practice.
Our final stop was Montreal. We had an amazing time exploring this very cultural city. We went to the Montreal Biodome which had replicas of four different ecosystems - it was like being in a tropical rainforest one minute and the Antarctic
the next! So cool. We ate awesome food like smoked meat sandwiches and Montreal-style bagels. We also saw cathedrals, parks, and went to an insanely good chocolate museum.
This trip to Canada has been such an incredible experience. I've learned so much about the history, cities, cultures, and natural beauty of this amazing country. I've become a poutine expert, gotten completely soaked at Niagara Falls, wandered European-style cities, and made so many great memories with my classmates and teachers. I can't wait to come home and tell you more stories in person!
I'm heading to the airport soon to fly back home. Thanks for letting me go on this unforgettable trip. I'll see you both very soon!
Love,

Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm having such an amazing time here in Canada! I've already seen and done so many cool things. I can't wait to tell you all about my adventures.
We started our trip in Toronto, which is a huge city. The first thing I noticed were all the tall skyscrapers downtown. Our hotel was right in the middle of everything. From my room, I could see the iconic CN Tower which is over 1,800 feet tall! One night, we went up to the observation deck and got an incredible view of the whole city lit up at night. It was breathtaking.
Another highlight in Toronto was going to the Royal Ontario Museum. It's one of the biggest museums in North America with over 6 million objects from art to archeology to natural history. I saw dinosaur fossils, shrunken heads, and mummies from ancient Egypt. My favorite was the bat cave where you walk through a dark room with real bats flying around you!
We also explored the underground PATH system which is over 16 miles of walkways connecting buildings downtown so you don't have to go outside in the cold winter weather. It was like being in a underground city with shops and restaurants everywhere.
After Toronto, we drove about an hour to Niagara Falls. I've never seen anything like it! Watching hundreds of thousands of gallons of water per second crash down was incredible. We actually got to go on a boat cruise that took us right up to the base of the falls. I've never been more soaked in my life but it
was awesome! We hiked up the White Water Walk trail too which had some great views.
At night, they have a light show where they shine colorful spotlights on the falls. We watched it from our hotel room window and it looked like the falls were liquid fireworks. So cool!
I also loved all the fun games and arcades along Clifton Hill. I won a huge teddy bear that's as big as me!
The next stop on our trip was Ottawa, which is Canada's capital city. We toured the Parliament buildings which was very interesting to learn about the history and how their government works. The buildings were beautiful too with the iconic Peace Tower and library.
One of my favorite things was going to the Canadian Museum of Nature. They have nine complete dinosaur skeletons including the terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex! We watched an amazing 3D movie on the prehistoric seas too. I felt like I was underwater swimming with those giant marine reptiles millions of years ago.
A unique experience in Ottawa was going for a skate on the Rideau Canal, which is a 4.8 mile stretch of frozen water through the city that becomes a giant skating rink in the winter. There were food stands and warm drinks along the way too. Good
thing we brought gloves and layers because it was freezing out there!
After Ottawa, we drove into Quebec and the first city we visited was Montreal. As soon as we crossed the border, I could feel that we were in a French-speaking province. All the signs were in French and I heard people speaking it everywhere.
Our tour guide taught us some basic French phrases which I've been trying to practice like "Bonjour" for hello and "Merci" for thank you. Some of the pastries and food didn't need translation though because they were simply delicious!
We went for a walking tour through Old Montreal which felt like being transported to Europe with the old cobblestone streets and horse carriage rides. The highlight was checking out the stunning Notre-Dame Basilica. It's one of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen with the ornate wooden carvings and stained glass windows.
Another cool attraction we did in Montreal was the Botanical Gardens which had these incredible outdoor and indoor display greenhouses. My favorite areas were the Chinese garden with the pagodas and ponds, and the First Nations garden showcasing plants and structures important to indigenous Canadian cultures.
The last stop on our Canadian adventure was the magical city of Quebec. It's the only place in North America that still has remaining fortified city walls from the 1600s. As we wandered the narrow stone streets of Old Quebec, I felt like I had stepped back in time to a quaint European village from centuries ago.
We took a historic walk along the Plains of Abraham, which are famous battlefields from wars between the French and British back in the 1700s. The views overlooking the St. Lawrence River were gorgeous. I loved watching all the big ships cruise by.
To me, Quebec just had such a wonderful mix of the old and new. You could be strolling along streets older than America itself with horse drawn carriages, and then turn a corner to modern shopping districts and nightlife. It really felt like a European city in North America.
One of my favorite things we did in Quebec City was go dogsledding through the snow. I got bundled up in a big winter suit and got to ride on a real dog sled pulled by a team of big husky dogs. They were incredible athletes and we went flying through these beautiful winter forests and trails. What an adrenaline rush!
As I'm writing this now from the backseat on our drive home, I'm feeling so grateful we got to experience all these amazing
places in Canada. From towering waterfalls to frozen canals, from soaring cathedrals to underground malls, from dogsledding to dinosaur skeletons - this has been a trip I'll never forget!
I have so many more stories to tell you both when I get home. I took hundreds of pictures too so I can show you everything. Thank you for giving me this incredible experience to travel and see another part of our world. Canada is such a beautiful and fascinating country. I already can't wait to go on another adventure!
Love,
Your explorer kid

Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm having such an amazing time here in Canada! There is so much to see and do. I wish you were both here with me, but I'm glad I get to experience this trip and tell you all about it when I get home.
We landed in Toronto a few days ago after a very long flight. The plane ride was kind of boring, but I watched a couple movies and slept a little bit too. When we arrived, I was so excited to
start exploring a new country! Toronto is a huge, bustling city with impressive skyscrapers towering overhead. Our hotel room has an amazing view and I can see the iconic CN Tower from our window. It's so tall - over 1,800 feet high! I definitely want to go up to the observation deck before we leave.
One of the first things we did was visit the Royal Ontario Museum. It has an incredible collection of artifacts from all over the world and throughout history. My favorite was the dinosaur exhibit with gigantic fossil skeletons and animated recreations of what the dinosaurs may have looked and sounded like. I learned so much! The museum also had great exhibitions on Canadian natural history, First Nations culture, and ancient civilizations. I bought a little totem pole figure in the gift shop to remember my visit.
The next day, we went to the Toronto Zoo, which was amazing! They have over 5,000 animals representing almost 500 different species. We saw huge animals like elephants, giraffes, hippos, and rhinos. But I also got to see lots of cool reptiles, birds, amphibians, and insects too. My favorite was definitely the gorilla habitat - those gorillas are so huge and human-like! We watched one of them playing with her baby, and it was the cutest
thing ever. I also loved the Tundra Trek area with polar bears, seals, and other Arctic animals.
After Toronto, we drove about an hour and a half to Niagara Falls. The falls were even more breathtaking and powerful than I imagined! We took a boat cruise on the Niagara River that took us right up to the base of the Horseshoe Falls. The spray from the crashing water was incredible. Over 3,000 tons of water rushes over the crest every second! We also went on the "Journey Behind the Falls" tunnel tour and walked right behind the thundering curtain of water. It was one of the most amazing natural wonders I've ever witnessed. We finished the day watching an incredible fireworks show over the falls at night.
The next stop was the beautiful city of Montreal in the French-speaking province of Quebec. Walking around downtown felt like being transported to Europe with the gorgeous architecture, cafes, and overall French ambiance. I practiced my French language skills as much as I could! One of the highlights was visiting the stunning Notre-Dame Basilica with its elaborately decorated interior. We also went up to the observation deck on Mount Royal, which the city is named after, for a panoramic view of Montreal's skyline and the St. Lawrence River.
From there, we drove to Quebec City, which is one of the oldest cities in North America, founded in 1608! The old town area felt like stepping back in time with its cobblestone streets, fortified city walls, and French colonial buildings. I imagined what it must have been like hundreds of years ago during the French and British settlement periods. We toured the iconic Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac hotel that dominates the city's skyline. It was like a real-life castle! We also walked along the Plains of Abraham, the famous battlefield where the French and British fought in 1759.
Our latest stop was in Ottawa, Canada's beautiful capital city. We toured the Parliament Buildings with their stunning Gothic Revival architecture and learned all about Canada's government and history. We even got to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony where soldiers in red uniforms and bearskin hats march and perform drills. So cool! I also loved visiting the Canadian Museum of Nature with its famous dinosaur fossil exhibits and the National Gallery with its wide collection of Canadian and indigenous art.
There's still so much left to see and do on this trip! Next
we're headed west to see the Rocky Mountains and go hiking in Banff National Park. I'm most excited for that part, being out in
the fresh, mountain air surrounded by incredible natural scenery. I'll have to tell you all about it when I get back home.
Canada is such an amazing country with kind, welcoming people and so many different cultures and environments to explore. From big cities to small towns, towering mountains to whitewater rapids, there is something for everyone here. I'm having the experience of a lifetime and making so many wonderful memories. Thank you for allowing me to go on this trip - I'll never forget it!
I miss you both and can't wait to see you again soon. Keep an eye out for the souvenirs and maple candies I'm bringing home!

Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm having such an amazing time here in Canada! Thank you so much for letting me go on this school trip. I've already seen and done so many incredible things. I can't wait to tell you all about my adventures!
We started our trip in Vancouver, which is a huge city on the Pacific coast. The first thing I noticed were the massive
snow-capped mountains looming over the city. Our tour guide said they were part of the Coast Mountain Range. We went up to the top of one of the mountains called Grouse Mountain on a cable car called the Skyride. The views from up there were breathtaking! You could see the whole city, the ocean, and mountains stretching out in every direction.
After that, we visited Stanley Park which is a huge park right in the middle of Vancouver. It's almost entirely surrounded by water and has tons of hiking trails winding through the rainforest. We saw raccoons, squirrels, and even some whales splashing around in the ocean! We also walked across the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge which is a long wobbly bridge suspended high up in the treetops. It was a little scary but really cool.
The next day, we drove up the Sea-to-Sky Highway along the coast to a ski resort town called Whistler. The drive itself was amazing, with the road snaking between soaring mountain peaks. In Whistler, we went hiking up in the mountains and saw bears foraging for food! Our guide made sure we stayed very far away though. We also went bungee jumping off an incredibly
high bridge. I was terrified at first, but after taking the plunge it was such an adrenaline rush!
From Whistler, we took a journey through the Canadian Rockies to the province of Alberta. This was my favorite part of the trip so far. The Rocky Mountains are massive, with jagged snowy peaks scraping the sky. We took a drive along the
world-famous Icefields Parkway, stopping to hike on ancient glaciers and go white water rafting down glacier-fed rivers. The water was soooooo cold but so much fun!
In the town of Banff, we went horseback riding up into the mountains. The horses were a bit smelly but it was awesome riding through the alpine meadows surrounded by wildflowers. We even saw some grizzly bears in the distance! Our guide knew a lot about them though and made sure we stayed safe.
One of the highlights was taking a helicopter tour over the turquoise lakes and waterfalls of the Canadian Rockies. Seeing them from up above was breathtaking. We landed the helicopter on a glacier and were able to walk around and drink some of the pure glacial water. It was so cold and refreshing!
After the Rockies, we traveled to the wide open prairies of Alberta to experiece life on a ranch. We went cattle driving with some real cowboys, which was harder than it looks! We also
milked cows, rode horses, and slept outdoors under a blanket of stars. Waking up to the sunrise over the prairies was beautiful.
Now we're in Toronto in eastern Canada, which is very different from the west. It's a huge modern city with bright lights, busy streets, and towering skyscrapers. We visited the iconic CN Tower which is one of the tallest buildings in the world! We took an exterior elevator all the way up to the outdoor observation deck near the top. The views overlooking the city and Lake Ontario were dizzying.
We also explored the underground city beneath Toronto which has tons of shops, restaurants, and even an amusement park! It's connected to the subway system so you can walk for miles without ever going outside. It was really cool but also a bit creepy and maze-like.
Later this week, we're traveling to Quebec City which is a very historic and cultural part of Canada. I've learned that it has a huge French influence, so lots of people speak French there. We're going to visit some of the oldest buildings in Canada and learn all about the French settlers and cultures. I can't wait!
This trip has been the most amazing experience so far. I've seen and done so many thrilling things that I could have never even imagined. I feel like I've learned just as much as I would in
school, if not more! Thank you again for letting me come - I'm making memories that will last a lifetime.
I miss you both and can't wait to see you when I get back home. I'll give you both huge hugs and tell you even more stories in person. I'm counting down the days!
Love,
