My May Day Holiday So Far
It's only the second day of my May Day break from university, but it has already been a whirlwind of activities! I have been looking forward to this weeklong holiday for months as a chance to truly relax and recharge after the stressful midterm period.
Yesterday was May 1st, the official start of the holiday. I slept in until nearly noon, luxuriating in not having to wake up early for classes. When I finally dragged myself out of bed, I spent a lazy morning drinking tea and reading for pleasure, something I rarely have time for during the semester. In the afternoon, I video-called my parents back in my hometown. We caught up on all the family news and they reminded me about a thousand times to study hard and take care of myself.
Later, I met up with my roommate and a group of friends to explore a new trendy area of the city we've been wanting to check out. We wandered around the boutiques and cafes, stopping frequently to take photos and satirize each other's
fashion choices. The night market had just opened when we arrived, so we happily made our way through the crowded stalls, sampling skewers and street foods from all over China. I indulged in my favorites like jianbing and niangao that I never get tired of. We ended up staying out way too late just sitting around a beer garden, enjoying the warm evening and lively atmosphere.
This morning I inevitably slept in again after getting back so late last night. I have some homework and reading to catch up on from classes, but I've been procrastinating on that so far. Instead, I spent a couple hours practicing my Chinese calligraphy, which I find helps calm my mind. My strokes are quite rusty after neglecting it for so long with schoolwork piling up.
For lunch, I met a couple of my Chinese friends who are sticking around campus for the break as well. We got some fast casual Sichuan food and they hilariously tried to teach me some new slang words that I'm surely mispronouncing horribly. We made plans to go sing karaoke tomorrow night, which I'm very excited about since I haven't gone in ages.
Now I'm just relaxing in my dorm room, blasting my favorite playlists probably annoying my hallmates. I should start thinking about my homework for this week, but part of me still wants to
fully embrace this lazy holiday mindset for another day or two. I know I'll regret it if I don't get some things done before classes resume though.
I'm hoping to go on a little weekend trip soon if the weather cooperates. Maybe a quick bullet train ride to a nearby city or just a hike in the lovely countryside outside of the urban area. My relatives keep asking if I'll come home for a visit, but the transportation hassle makes it not worth it for such a short break in my opinion.
Other than that, I don't have too much planned, which is exactly how I like my holidays! Having wide open days without any obligations is a luxury I need to embrace before the thunderous final exam period starts. I'm just going to go with the flow, indulging my whims, and squeezing in every last bit of rest and relaxation before the storm hits. This much-needed break is passing by much too quickly!

It's the May Day holiday and I'm having a great time! Yesterday, my family and I are driving to my grandparents' house in the countryside. The scenery along the way is breathtaking with blooming flowers and green fields.
At my grandparents' place, I'm helping out in their vegetable garden by planting seeds and watering the plants. The fresh air and sunshine feel amazing. In the afternoons, I'm reading books and playing games with my little cousins. The sounds of their laughter fill the house.
Today, we're having a big family reunion lunch. My aunts, uncles, and cousins from near and far are all gathering together. The table is laden with all my favorite homemade dishes. I'm savoring every bite while catching up with my relatives. Moments like these are what make holidays so special. I wish this week could last forever!

My Ongoing May Day Holiday Adventure
It's the first day of the May Day holiday and I'm so excited to have a whole week off from school! My parents are both working this week, so I get to spend most of my time however I want. I already have a fun-filled agenda planned out.
Yesterday after classes ended, my best friend Sam came over and we played video games for a few hours. We took a break mid-afternoon to recharge with some snacks. My mom made us these delicious mini pizzas with veggies on top. After
re-energizing, we went back to the basement to keep gaming until Sam had to go home for dinner.
This morning I slept in until 10am. It felt so luxurious not having to set an alarm! When I finally rolled out of bed, I made myself a giant bowl of sugary cereal - something my
health-conscious mom rarely lets me eat. I lounged around watching silly videos online for a couple hours in my pajamas.
Around noon, I reluctantly got dressed and walked over to my neighbor's house. I'm pet sitting their old labrador retriever Buddy all week while they're on vacation. Buddy is such a sweet dog, but he needs to be taken out multiple times per day. I spent an hour playing fetch with him in their backyard under the warm spring sun.
After wearing Buddy out, I came back home for lunch. I heated up some leftover pasta and meatballs from a couple nights ago. My dad's spaghetti and meatball recipe is the best! With my belly full, I settled in to watch a movie I've been wanting to see. It was an action/adventure film that just came out about a group of archaeologists exploring ancient ruins. The special effects were so cool and realistic.
Once the movie ended, I could feel my energy starting to dip from lounging around too much. I decided to go for a bike ride
to get some exercise and fresh air. I rode around the neighborhood for an hour, waving to neighbours I passed. When I got back home, I was ready for an afternoon snack to refuel. I made myself a yogurt parfait with granola, berries, and honey.
Now as I'm writing this, it's only 4pm and I still have the whole rest of the day ahead of me! Sam is coming back over later and we're going to work on the big history project that's due after the break. I know it will be hard to concentrate when there's so much free time, but we have to at least try to be a little productive.
After hopefully making some decent progress on our assignment, we're planning to order pizza for dinner. My parents are going out tonight, so we'll have the house to ourselves. We'll probably find a dumb comedy movie to watch and make fun of. Or maybe we'll just keep gaming long into the night like last night. The possibilities are endless!
I can already tell this is going to be such an amazing, unstructured, relaxing week. No teachers to listen to, no pop quizzes to stress about, no obligations other than hanging with friends and recharging. I'll have to resist the urge to stay up too late every night though. As amazing as this freedom is, I don't want to be an exhausted zombie by the time classes resume next
Monday. Moderation will be key to fully enjoying this glorious May holiday!

My May Day Holiday in Progress
It's the first week of May, and I'm absolutely loving this much-needed break from school. As a high school junior, the pressures of academics, extracurriculars, and trying to figure out my future have really been weighing on me recently. But this golden week off is giving me the chance to relax, recharge, and make the most of my free time in a way I haven't been able to in months.
The holiday kicked off with a big family reunion for us. Relatives came from near and far to celebrate at my grandparents' place out in the countryside. I don't get to see my cousins too often since we're spread out, so it was really fun catching up and reminiscing about summers we spent together as kids. We stayed up way too late one night having an epic video game tournament - I managed to beat my cocky older cousin at Mario Kart, finally getting my revenge after all these years!
After a couple days, we bid farewell to the relatives and my parents, sister and I headed off on a little road trip. We're spending a few nights at a cute little guest house right on the beach. The views from our room are just breathtaking, with the wide sandy shores stretching out to meet the endless blue ocean. We're taking it easy most days, sleeping in late then wandering down to claim a prime spot on the beach to soak up some sun. I've already made quite a dent in that book I've been meaning to read forever.
Once we've recharged with a healthy dose of vitamin D and saltwater therapy, the game plan is to do a bit of sightseeing around the area. There are some iconic historical sites and beautiful natural scenery I want to experience. My sister and I are already researching all the best photography spots – we're those obnoxious tourists who will stop every five minutes to pose for a new picture. No shame!
In the evenings, we've been strolling along the beach boardwalk checking out all the lively restaurants, bars and shops. The fresh seafood is absolutely insane. I could eat my weight in shrimp and crab. We're also hoping to catch one of those awesome beachside dance parties they have going on some
nights. I love immersing myself in the local culture and socializing when I travel.
All too soon, this fantastic holiday will be coming to a close. Part of me is eager to get back into my normal routine - I do miss seeing my friends and the comfortable familiarity of school. But another part of me could really get used to this endless summer lifestyle of beach days, evening adventures, and no worries. One thing's for sure, I'm sure making the most of every second of free time before real life kicks back in. Carpe diem!

It's the May Day holiday and I'm so excited to have a nice long break from school! I've been looking forward to this for weeks. My parents are both working during the day, so I have the whole house to myself most of the time.
I've been sleeping in pretty late each morning - until 10 or 11am usually. It feels so good to catch up on rest after getting up early for classes all semester. In the late morning, I typically make myself a big breakfast - eggs, bacon, pancakes, the works. I take my time eating while watching shows or YouTube videos on my laptop.
After breakfast, I've been spending a lot of time playing video games. I just got this awesome new open-world fantasy game and I've been completely hooked. I'll play for hours, exploring every nook and cranny, battling monsters and wizards. The graphics and gameplay are so immersive, it's easy to lose track of time.
My mom gets home from work around 5pm, so I'll pause my gaming to help her prep dinner. We'll make something simple but tasty like stir-fry or pasta. As we're cooking, we catch up on how our days went. I tell her about the new levels I conquered in my game and she tells me about her work dramas.
After dinner, I've been going out to hang with my friends most evenings. We'll grab bubble tea or milkshakes and just wander around the mall or park, chatting and people watching. Sometimes we'll catch a movie or hit up an arcade. With no school or homework to worry about, we can stay out as late as we want.
When I get home again around 10 or 11pm, I jump online and group chat with my gamer friends from around the world while playing co-op multiplayer missions until 1 or 2am. Even though it's a holiday, my sleep schedule is still all messed up!
I'm trying to balance my time between gaming, seeing friends, and relaxing at home. I love having the freedom to make my own schedule and not having any real responsibilities for once. Part of me is a little anxious about how much schoolwork will have piled up by the time we get back. But I'm trying not to think about that and just enjoy my free time while I can!
I know this holiday will fly by way too fast. In just a few more days, it'll be back to the grind of endless classes, homework, and tests. So I'm savoring every second of unstructured bliss while it lasts. Spending time how I want, when I want, is life!

My May Day Holiday So Far
It's only the second day of my May Day holiday, but I'm already having a blast! Yesterday I slept in until noon after staying up late playing video games. My parents let me be a total couch potato. In the afternoon, I met up with some friends and we went to the mall. We didn't really buy anything, just wandered around and people-watched.
Later, we grabbed dinner at the food court. I got my favorite - a giant burger and fries! After dinner, we headed to the park and just hung out, messing around on the playground
equipment even though we're technically too old for that now. We stayed out until well after dark before finally heading home.
Today I have absolutely no plans other than taking it easy and recharging my batteries. Maybe I'll binge-watch some shows or read for fun since I don't have any homework to do. This vacation is going to be amazing if the first couple days are any indication! No responsibilities, just relaxing and doing whatever I want.。
