【投稿英文期刊】中国人常犯的错误

【编者按】如今要取得博士学位必需要有SCI文章，许多人因此纷纷投稿英文期刊。许多人在投稿英文期刊时会遇到这样或那样的问题，生物通将就这个问题为大家提供系列的文章。首先介绍的是一位审阅过200余篇稿、以英语为母语的审稿人写的中国人常范的错误，相信这些错误具有一定代表性，希望能够帮助各位正在为paper奋斗的莘莘学子们。

如果你是以英语为母语，那么下面所讲的问题可能不会成为问题。但是，对于学中文出身的人有一个非常麻烦的语法问题，那就是冠词（article）。这之所以会成为一个问题也是非常容易理解的，因为中文里面根本没有与之相对应的部分，同理，外国人也对量词感到费解。学英语最初接触的就是"a, an, the"，但是，学到最后发现被难住的也是这三个简单的词。

单数前的"a, an, the"是最容易被忽略的。冠词意味着后面将出现一个名词，在冠词余名词之间的修饰词语都是针对这个名词的（如：a big blue bicycle/the first award），a和an是不定冠词，the是定冠词。下面将举几个错误的例子： Incorrect Figure 2 shows the distribution of relative velocity on surface of main and splitter blades.

因为在文章中仅提到一次“3D modeling tool”，因此3D modeling tool是特指且唯一的，需要用定冠词the。

冠词是英语当中最典型的限定词，包括定冠词、不定冠词和零冠词。通过限定词我们可以了解后面的名词是范指（a tree）还是特指（the tree）。

冠词使用指南：

在中国式英语里面最经常会看到非常长的句子，因为作者总是用中文思考后直接翻译成为英文。要写英文长句子需要有很扎实的英文基础，而且科技论文的目的是让审稿人明白文章内容，越简单明了越好。中文可以接受一个句子里放入多个支持观点以体现之间的关系；在英文中最好讲主要观点与每个支持观点放在不同的句子里面。

如果一个句子超过60个单词，那么可以认为找个句子有点长了。尽管有些句子并没有超过60个单词，但是想表达太多内容，以至混淆了主要的意思，那么这也可以定义为一个long sentence。想要克服这个毛病，最关键的就是不要心急
