Part I Reading Comprehension (30%)Directions:There are three passages in this part. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A,B,C and D. You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.Passage 1Questions 1 to 5 are based on the following passage:I hear many parents complain that their teenage children are rebelling. I wish it were so. At your age you ought to be growing away from your parents. You should be learning to stand on your own feet. But take a good look at the present rebellion. It seems that teenagers are all taking the same way of showing that they disagree with their parents. Instead of striking out boldly on their own, most of them are holding one another's hands for reassurance (放心)。

2023年11月学位英语试题 北京
2023年11月学位英语试题北京全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1The 2023 November English Test DayHey there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader at Huaxi Elementary School in Beijing. I just took the big November English test and I have to tell you all about it! It was crazy!First off, my mom woke me up at like 6 AM which is sooooo early for a Saturday. She made me eat a huge breakfast too - eggs, rice, veggies, fruit, milk, everything! I wasn't even hungry but she said I needed brain food for the test. Whatever mom, I just wanted to sleep in.Then we had to leave for school at 7:30 which meant no Saturday morning cartoons for me. We got to school and there were kids everywhere! From all the different elementary schools around Beijing here to take the same English test. The hallways were so loud with everybody talking and laughing. Some kids looked nervous but not me - I'm awesome at English! We had to go to the auditorium and find our assigned seats. The teachers kept shushing everybody but kids were still whispering and passing notes. I saw my friend Li Hua and we made funny faces at each other. Finally they told us to stop talking and get ready. It was really happening! The first part of the test was listening. They played these audio clips over the loudspeakers and we had to answer multiple choice questions on our test booklets. Things like "What did the boy put in his backpack?" or "How did the girl feel when her friend moved away?" Pretty easy stuff. The hard part was when they played back classroom dialogues or conversations between multiple people. I had to listen so carefully to catch everything! After listening, we moved right into the reading section. We had to read passages about all kinds of topics - science, geography, famous people, you name it. The passages weren't too long but there were lots of comprehension questions. "What was the main idea?" "Which fact supports the author's opinion?" "What does this vocabulary word mean based on context?" I'm a good reader so I didn't get too stuck, but man was it boring after a while! Just reading and bubbling in answers for like an hour. Then my favorite part - the writing section! We had to write a short essay responding to a prompt. This time it was "What's themost exciting experience you've ever had?" Of course, my mind went straight to that time my parents took me and my sister on a tropical vacation a few years back. We went snorkeling and I saw sharks and rays and beautiful fish! I had plenty of details to write a killer essay about that trip. The speaking section was last and definitely the weirdest part. We had to go one-by-one into these little recording rooms and speak into a microphone! First they gave simple prompts like "Introduce yourself" or "Describe your bedroom." But then they asked us our opinion on topics and wanted us to explain our reasoning. Not gonna lie, I kind of froze up for a sec when they asked me whether I thought elementary school students should have more homework. I don't love homework, but I know it's important for learning. I kind of rambled for a bit trying to explain both sides.Anyway, that was finally it - the 4 hour English test was over!I was exhausted. A bunch of my classmates looked just as tired as we walked out. Thank goodness my mom brought me a nice lunch and snacks because I was starving. Hopefully I did well because I really want to test into that advanced English program next year. We'll see when we get our scores back in a few weeks! That's pretty much how my big English test day went down. It was no joke but I think I was prepared. Now I get to enjoy the rest of my weekend playing basketball and hanging with friends. Wish me luck! Over and out!篇2My Big Important English Test Adventure!Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I just took the biggest, most important English test of my whole life so far - the November 2023 English Proficiency Exam here in Beijing! It was a huge deal and I've been preparing for months. Let me tell you all about my exciting test day adventure! It started very early in the morning. My mom woke me up before the sun was even out, which is never fun. But she made me a special breakfast with my favorite congee and she put a fried egg on top that was shaped like a smiley face. That helped cheer me up a little bit. "You need to eat your strength food today," she told me. "This test is super important!"I knew she was right. Pretty much my whole future depends on how well I do on tests like this. If I don't get a great score, I might not get into the top middle school I want. And then I'll bebehind and maybe can't go to an awesome high school or university. No pressure or anything! After breakfast, my dad drove me to the testing site. It was at a big high school near my house. When we got there, the parking lot was absolutely packed with cars and the lobby area was a total zoo. There were kids everywhere running around looking nervous and parents looking even more nervous than the kids! I felt a few butterflies fluttering in my stomach too if I'm being honest. My dad and I had to get in this really long line to check in and get my testing room assignment. The lady working at the desk was very serious and no-nonsense. "Name?" she asked me sternly. "Xiaoming Zhang," I gulped. She looked at her papers, then handed me a strip of paper and pointed down the hallway. "Room 214. Don't be late." I looked at my dad like a sad puppy but he just shrugged and gave me a reassuring pat on the back. Ugh, parents can be the worst sometimes!I found my way to Room 214 and took a deep breath before going inside. It was just a normal classroom, but every single desk was occupied by another kid around my age. Some of them I recognized from my school or my English tutoring academy.Others were strangers to me. We were all equally miserable though, let me tell you!The teacher proctoring the exam was an older woman with glasses and not a single hair out of place on her head. She was not messing around, that's for sure. "Listen up!" she barked at us in this super stern voice. "There will be no talking, no getting out of your seats, and absolutely no cheating. Keep your eyes on your own paper at all times. If I see anything suspicious, you'll be immediately expelled from the exam. Is that understood?"We all nodded furiously, not daring to make a sound. Then she passed out the test booklets face down on our desks. "You may begin...now!" she announced, looking down at her watch. The room filled with the sounds of papers flipping over and pencils being grabbed.Phew, I made it through that intense preamble! Now it was finally time for the actual test. I took a few calming breaths to center myself before reading the first question. It seemed simple enough - just defining some basic vocabulary words piece of cake! But of course, it got way harder as it went along. There were reading comprehension passages to analyze, essays to write, grammar exercises to complete, speaking prompts to prepare for - every type of English question possiblewas covered. My brain went into overdrive as I diligently worked my way through each section, checking the clock anxiously every few minutes. I did not want to run out of time! Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the teacher stood up and loudly cleared her throat. "Pencils down! The examination period is now over." A collective groan went around the room as everyone scrambled to fill in any last bubbles on their answer sheets.I felt...I don't know...drained? Relieved? Proud that I'd made it through? All of the above! As I turned in my test papers, I looked around at the exhausted but accomplished faces of my fellow test-takers. We'd survived this crazy experience together, sort of like soldiers coming back from battle. When I met back up with my dad, he could see how wiped out I was. "Was it really hard, buddy?" he asked, giving me a shoulder squeeze. I just nodded, too tired to even speak. He got me a nice cold lemonade from a cafe and I guzzled the whole thing down in about 10 seconds. It was probably the most refreshing drink I've ever had!On the car ride home, I could feel the weight being lifted off my shoulders. No more studying, no more classes, no more practice tests. Just sweet, glorious relaxation and freedom for thenext few weeks until results came out. My dad cranked up my favorite Beatles songs on the radio and I happily sang along, feeling light as a feather. That test might have been brutally hard, but you know what?I gave it my all and have zero regrets. Whatever happens happens - there's no changing it now. Making it through that epic four hour endurance challenge is an achievement in itself! I'm proud of myself and all my classmates who persevered.Fingers crossed for good news when scores are released next month! But for now, it's nothing but fun times and sleeping in late for this test survivor. Thanks for letting me share my wild English exam story. Hopefully your experience wasn't quite as intense as mine! Study hard, believe in yourself, and you'll do great.篇3My Big Day Taking the Grad English Exam!Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I just had the biggest day of my life so far - I took the November 2023 Graduate English Exam in Beijing! I know what you're thinking, why is a 4th grader taking a graduate level English test? Well, let me explain...You see, my parents really want me to get into the best university one day. They say if I can master English at a very high level, it will open up so many opportunities for me in the future. Dad works for a big international company and Mom is a teacher, so they both know how important English is these days. Since I was very little, they've been drilling English into my brain! At home, we only speak English. I watch movies and TV shows in English with Chinese subtitles. All my books, games, and apps are in English too. Every week I have private English tutors come over to make sure I'm staying on track. It's a lot of work, but I actually really enjoy learning English. The grammar and vocab rules are kind of fun to me, like one big logic puzzle to solve.Anyway, my parents decided it would be good practice for me to take the Graduate English Exam while I'm still in elementary school. That way, there's no pressure and I can get experience with a high-stakes test. I've been preparing for months by doing practice tests and learning all about the exam format. The big day finally came a few weeks ago. We headed into Beijing early in the morning before sunrise. The test was at a huge venue with rooms full of tiny desks. I've never seen so manypeople bubbling in exam answer sheets! I was one of the youngest people there by far. A few of the proctors gave me weird looks when I walked in.The first section of the test was listening comprehension. We had to listen to recordings and answer questions proving we understood things like the main ideas, details, and implied meanings. Piece of cake for me! Next up was reading comprehension - reading some dense passages and showing we could analyze them. This part was challenging but I've practiced a ton. After some break time, the exam moved on to the writing section. We had to write an essay arguing some position on a controversial topic. The topic I got was "Arguing that the development of artificial intelligence will lead to human beings becoming obsolete." Yikes! That's pretty deep stuff for a10-year-old. I did my best though, trying to make a solid argument with clear examples and logic. The very last part was speaking, where we had to respond to questions and prompts verbally. I'm honestly pretty confident in my English speaking abilities at this point. I've been speaking it literally since the day I was born! All those hours of tutoring and immersion seemed to pay off. After what felt like an entire day of nonstop English intensity, the exam was over. I was exhausted! My brain felt like mush. But I also felt proud for giving it my all. Whether I passed at a high level or not, the experience itself was invaluable. While we're waiting for the exam scores, my parents are continuing to push me hard on English. They've got me signed up for advanced English summer camps, more tutoring, and even a student exchange program in London next year! The grind never stops.I know it's a lot of pressure, but I actually am grateful for how much my parents care about my English education. It really will give me an advantage over my peers who don't start intensive English until much later. That test may have been insanely difficult, but I'm already looking forward to taking it again next year and showing off my improvement!Well, that's my crazy experience with the Graduate English Exam as a 4th grader. ??儿们加油!English is just the start - maybe I'll take the 高考next haha! Just kidding...I think. Anyway, thanks for reading and I'll catch you next time!篇4The Big English Test in November 2023Wow, I can't believe the November CET English exam is almost here! It's going to be a really big day for me and all my classmates. We've been working so hard to prepare. Let me tell you all about it!First of all, CET stands for College English Test. Even though I'm just in elementary school, we have to take a version of this big exam every year to check our English skills. The test has listening, reading and writing sections. I've been practicing really hard, especially on my listening because that's the part I find most difficult. The exam is held on the same day across the whole country. Can you imagine - millions of students taking the same test at the same time? It's crazy! In Beijing where I live, the test happens at big exam centers. I'm going to the one at my school on November 26th.A few weeks before the exam, my English teacher Mr. Wang went over all the test rules and policies with us. We're not allowed to bring anything into the exam room except for pencils and erasers. No paper, no dictionaries, no phones or smartwatches. We have to be very careful to follow all the rules exactly. If we break any of them, even by accident, our tests could get invalidated!Mr. Wang also gave us lots of practice tests to work through. The reading passages cover all kinds of topics - stories, essays, advertisements, you name it. The passages aren't too difficult individually, but there are so many of them combined together. By the end, my brain feels like it's going to explode from information overload! The listening section is split into conversations and lectures. I find the conversations pretty straightforward, but the lectures are a real challenge. They're long and have all these facts and details that I have to catch. I've been listening to the practice lectures over and over, taking notes frantically the whole time.As for the writing section, we have to write a short essay responding to a prompt. The prompts can be about anything - someone's opinion we have to agree or disagree with, a situation we need to describe a solution for, or a story or graphic we have to analyze. Writing has always been one of my strongest areas, but I still need to practice a lot to get ready.Honestly, just thinking about the sheer amount of material on this test makes me tired! But I know I have to power through and do my absolute best. My parents are riding on me to get a high score. If I do well, they said they'll take our family on a trip to Thailand next summer as a reward! My classmates and I have been helping each other get ready too. We quiz each other, proofread each other's writing samples, and share test tips we've picked up. Studying together makes it feel a little less overwhelming. Erha has been struggling with grammar, so I've been tutoring her on that. In return, she's been coaching me on how to listen for key details. The night before the exam, I'm going to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy dinner with vegetables to keep my energy up. I'll also do some light review, but not too much - I don't want to burn myself out before the big day. The most important thing is篇5Beijing - The City of WondersHello everyone! I just had the craziest experiencewith a really important English test that I want to tell you all about! It was a chilly November morning and I was pretty nervous. We had been preparing for months for this huge English proficiency exam. My teacher, Mrs. Wang, kept telling us how key this test was for getting into a great middle school program. The pressure was on!When I arrived at school that morning, things already seemed different. There were all these official-looking people walking around with clipboards and folders. The hallways were eerily quiet instead of filled with the usual laughter and chatter. We got called down to the auditorium where rows of desks were set up. It felt just like those big testing rooms you see in movies! Mrs. Wang gave us our final words of encouragement before the proctors started handing out the test booklets. I took a deep breath and tried my best to stay calm. The first section was listening comprehension. We had to listen to some dialogues and answer multiple choice questions about what we heard. I'm actually pretty good at listening, so that part wasn't too bad. Although there was one discussion between two friends about their weekend plans that totally stumped me!Next up was the reading section, which is usually my worst nightmare. I'm a pretty slow reader in English. But Mrs. Wang had trained us with all these strategies for skimming for key details and avoiding getting bogged down. I actually felt like I did okay on that part, which was a huge relief. Then we moved into the writing section where we had to write a short essay. The prompt was "What is your favorite family tradition and why?" I ended up writing all about our annual Mid-Autumn Festival celebration where we get together for a huge family dinner with mooncakes and everything. Hopefully the graders appreciated reading about the cultural traditions! We took a quick 10 minute break before the final section - speaking. This was definitely the part I dreaded the most. We had to go one-by-one into a separate room with a proctor and complete a recorded speaking exercise. When it was my turn, I got soooo nervous. My palms were sweating and I could feel my heart racing as I walked into that tiny room. The proctor seemed nice enough as she explained the task. First I had to describe a set of pictures that illustrated the process of making dumplings. Then I had to listen to a prompt about my favorite subject in school and record myself giving my opinions on it. I don't even remember exactly what I said - I just tried mybest to string together clear sentences and not freeze up completely! Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the whole English ordeal was over. I could not wait to get home, put on my comfy PJs, and veg out for a little while. All that test-taking was absolutely exhausting! My parents insisted on taking me out for my favorite dished noodles that night to celebrate being done with the exam. As I was happily slurping away, they started peppering me with questions: "How did it go? Did you feel prepared? What was the hardest part?" Honestly, I had no idea whether I did well or bombed the whole thing. I just had to wait anxiously for the results like everyone else.A few weeks later, the scores finally came out. I waited with bated breath as Mrs. Wang passed them out one-by-one with a serious look on her face. When I unfurled my sheet of paper, I couldn't believe my eyes! There it was in black and white: I had gotten an amazing overall score that put me in the highest proficiency level! All those months of hard work and effort had clearly paid off. Mrs. Wang winked at me when she saw my excited reaction. My parents were hugging me tightly while cheering. It was such agreat feeling of accomplishment and relief after that intense exam experience.Although the November 2023 English proficiency exam was definitely a challenge, looking back now I'm so glad I went through it. It helped demonstrate my English abilities and opened doors for me to get into a top middle school program. More importantly though, it taught me the value of diligence, perseverance, and not giving up - even when things seem overwhelming. If I can make it through something that initially scared me as much as that big test, I know I can conquer anything that comes my way in the future. Bring it on, world! This kids has got the confidence and English skills to take you on.。

2024年北京学位英语考试真题答案
2024年北京学位英语考试真题答案全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇12024 Beijing English Proficiency Test AnswersHi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader at Sunshine Elementary School in Beijing. I just took the big English test last week and I wanted to share my answers with you. My mom says I'm not supposed to share test answers, but she also says honesty is the best policy. So I'm being honest by telling you these are my answers! I'm a pretty good English student, so maybe they will help you out.The first section was listening comprehension. There was a dialog between two kids arguing about what game to play at recess. I said the boy wanted to play basketball and the girl wanted to play jump rope. Then there was a story about a puppy who got lost and had to find his way home. I said the puppy's name was Buddy and he ended up at a firehouse before his owners came to get him.Next was the reading section. The first passage was about the Great Wall of China. I wrote that it was built a really long timeago to protect China from invaders. It's super long and winds across deserts and mountains. The second passage discussed different kinds of fruits. I wrote that apples and oranges are popular fruits that grow on trees. Bananas technically aren't trees, they're plants. And strawberries and blueberries are smaller fruits that grow on bushes close to the ground. On to the writing section! The first prompt asked me to describe my favorite day of the year. I wrote about Chinese New Year because that's when I get lots of yummy food and red envelopes with money. I described the fun traditions like hanging up red lanterns, watching the dragon dance, and setting off firecrackers. For the second prompt, I had to give directions from my house to the nearest park. I wrote about leaving my apartment building, turning right, going straight for three blocks, turning left at the bakery that always smells so good, and then the park is on the next block with the big playground.Whew, that was a lot of writing! The grammar section wasn't too bad. There were some fill-in-the-blank sentences testing different verb tenses. Like "Jerry _____ his dog for a walk every morning" and I put "takes." Or "Last night I _____ a yummy dinner" and I put "ate." There were also some questionsidentifying parts of speech. I had to say if a word was being used as a noun, verb, adjective, etc. Finally, the vocabulary part asked me to identify definitions or synonyms for words. I remember one asking what "diligent" means and I said it's someone who works really hard and doesn't goof off. Another asked for a synonym for "enormous" and I put "huge."So there you have it, my complete answers to the big English test! Hopefully it's useful for you guys to study. If not, no biggie. I'm just an elementary kid doing my best. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇22024 Beijing English Test - A Kid's PerspectiveWow, what a day! I just took the big Beijing English test for 2024 and my brain is spinning. I've been studying so hard for months, drilling vocab words with my mom and doing practice tests every week. I really wanted to do well because getting a good score can help me get into a great middle school. The reading section was pretty tough. There were passages about things like the history of the Great Wall and traditionalChinese medicine. Some of the vocabulary was super advanced for a 6th grader like me. I had to really focus and use all my skills like looking for context clues and breaking down words into roots. For the questions about the main ideas, I tried to sum up each paragraph in my head first before choosing an answer. The listening part was no joke either! The recordings went pretty fast with different accents - American, British, Australian. I topped off my horse-shaped pencil and wrote down key details as they spoke. Listening for numbers, Names, places and transition words helped a ton. Those conversation dialogues between two speakers were the hardest to follow. By the end my page looked like a crazy web of notes! After lunch, we had to write two essays - one was an opinion piece and the other was a story. For the opinion essay about whether kids should get allowances, I planned it out with a graphic organizer first. I made sure to have a clear thesis statement, three body paragraphs with examples, and a solid conclusion summing it all up. The story was a fun one - I wrote a narrative about the day an alien landed in my backyard! I tried to add lots of descriptive details and some dialogue to make it more interesting. The very last section was speaking, which made me super nervous. We had to record ourselves on computers responding to prompts and questions. I spoke slowly and enunciated clearly, using some vocabulary words I had practiced. For the impromtu questions, I took a breath to organize my thoughts before responding. I just tried to relax and imagine I was talking to a friend.Phew, I'm exhausted after that marathon test! I gave it my best effort though. No matter what my score ends up being, I'm proud of myself for working so hard to improve my English skills this year. Studying a language is no easy task, but becoming bilingual has lots of amazing benefits. Who knows, maybe I'll grow up to be an English teacher myself someday! I'll just have to wait patiently for those results to come out...篇32024 Beijing Graduate English Exam Answers!Hey guys! It's me again, your favorite elementary school kid who loves talking about big fancy tests. This year I got my hands on the answers for the 2024 Beijing Graduate English Exam. How cool is that?!The reading section was pretty wild. There was this long passage about the history of cheese making. Apparently, a long long time ago, this nomad guy's horse kick over a bag of milk and it curdled in the hot sun. The nomad tried it and was like "Hmmm not bad!" and that's how cheese was invented! Crazy right? The main point was that a lot of important discoveries happen by accident. Then there were some other readings about environmental science topics. One was how cutting down forests is bad for the environment because trees absorb carbon dioxide. Another one talked about how plastic pollution in the oceans is really dangerous for fish, birds, and other marine life. I feel bad for all those animals getting stuck in plastic can holders and balloons. We really need to recycle more and use less plastic!Okay, let's move on to the writing section prompts. One of them asked you to describe your favorite piece of artwork and why it's meaningful to you. I would have written about this finger painting I made in kindergarten of a sunflower. I gave it to my mom for Mother's Day and she cried happy tears and put it on the fridge. It's still there to this day!Another writing prompt was to discuss two ways that climate change is impacting your local community and what could bedone about it. For where I live, I'd probably say it's making the summers hotter and causing more extreme weather like blizzards in winter. To help, we could plant more trees, use less electricity, and get solar panels on our roof.As for the listening section, some of it was just conversations between people making plans and giving directions and stuff. But then there were also lectures from professors talking about biology, history, environmental science, you name it! The environmental one was about different types of renewable energy like wind, solar, and hydroelectric power. We learned about those in school too when we watched the fun video about the rapping renewable energy kids. "We're the renewable gang, and we're here to say, renewable energy is the way to save the day!"The speaking tasks covered all sorts of topics too. One was to describe your favorite holiday tradition and why it's meaningful. For me, I'd talk about how every Christmas morning my family goes on a walk around the neighborhood to look at all the Christmas light displays before opening presents.Another speaking prompt asked you to explain a process like How To Bake Bread or How Composting Works step-by-step. I could definitely do that for How To Make Slime since I'mbasically a slime expert after making fifty billion versions of it. Mix the glue, borax, water, food coloring, maybe add some glitter and pom poms too. Easy peasy slime squeezy!Phew, that's a lot of test content to recap! Let's be real, these English tests can be kind of a snoozefest. But thinking back now, there were actually some interesting topics about science, history, and world cultures mixed in there. And hey, anything that doesn't involve solving crazy math problems is a win in my book!If you studied hard and knew all your vocab words, idioms, and grammar rules, hopefully you rocked this test. Maybe I'll even see some of you walking across that graduation stage in your cap and gown one day. Just don't trip! That would be so embarrassing in front of everyone. Speaking of embarrassing stories...篇42024年北京学位英语考试真题答案Part 1: Listening Comprehension (听力理解)Who is Peter's favorite singer?Answer: Peter's favorite singer is Taylor Swift. What did Sarah do last weekend?Answer: Last weekend, Sarah went to the park with her family. How many people are there in Jack's family?Answer: There are four people in Jack's family. What color is Lisa's new bike?Answer: Lisa's new bike is purple.Where is the school library?Answer: The school library is on the second floor.Part 2: Reading Comprehension (阅读理解)Passage 1What is the story about?Answer: The story is about a cat named Whiskers. Why did Whiskers get lost?Answer: Whiskers got lost because he wandered too far from home. How did the little girl find Whiskers?Answer: The little girl found Whiskers in a tree.Where did Whiskers live before he got lost?Answer: Whiskers lived with a kind old lady before he got lost. How did the little girl help Whiskers?Answer: The little girl took Whiskers home and gave him food and water.Passage 2What is the article about?Answer: The article is about recycling. Why is recycling important?Answer: Recycling is important because it helps protect the environment. What can we recycle?Answer: We can recycle paper, plastic, glass, and metal. How can we recycle at home?Answer: We can separate our trash into different bins for recycling. What happens to recycled materials?Answer: Recycled materials are made into new products.Part 3: Writing (写作)Title: My Dream VacationHello everyone! I just took the big English test in Beijing and I want to share my answers with you! The test was pretty hard but I tried my best. Let me know if you agree with my answers or not.Reading Section:There was a story about a girl named Emma who really loved strawberries. She went strawberry picking with her mom and hadso much fun! At the end, she made a huge strawberry shortcake to share with her family. I love strawberries too so I could really relate to Emma's story. Then there was an article about different sports that are popular around the world. It mentioned soccer, basketball, tennis, and a few others I'd never heard of before like curling and cricket. My favorite sport is definitely ping pong though! Have you ever played it before? The last reading passage talked about the life cycle of butterflies. It was really interesting learning about how they start as tiny eggs, then become caterpillars, then form chrysalises before finally emerging as beautiful butterflies. Nature is so amazing!Writing Section:For the writing part, I had to write a short story about my most exciting day ever. Here's what I wrote:"My Most Exciting DayOne sunny Saturday, I woke up extra early because my parents had a huge surprise for me - we were going to the brand new water park that just opened up! I could barely contain my excitement as we drove there. When we arrived, my jaw dropped. There were massive swirling water slides taller than skyscrapers, huge pools with artificial waves you could surf on, and mistsquirting fountains everywhere. I didn't know where to start! After slathering on tons of sunscreen, I first raced to the biggest waterslide. I carefully climbed up the infinite stairs, got into my rainbow tube, and whooshed down at lightning speed. The twists and turns made my stomach flip as I shrieked with delight.Next, my parents and I moved to the wave pool. We had a blast bobbing up and down and diving through the massive artificial waves. I even bravely attempted to boogie board a few times! The day seemed to fly by in a whirlwind of splashes, laughter, and nonstop fun. By the time the park closed, my skin was all pruney but I had the biggest smile ever. I can't wait to go back again soon!"I really hope I did a good job capturing all the fun and excitement of my awesome waterpark adventure! Writing stories is one of my favorite things to do.Listening Section:The listening part was pretty tricky. There were conversations about making plans to go to the movies, ordering food at a restaurant, and giving directions. I had to listen very carefully and take notes on the important details. Then there was a longer segment about a brother and sister who were putting on a magic show for their parents. The sister kept making fun of her brother for messing up all the tricks! Even though it was kind of mean, it was also pretty funny. At the end, there was an excerpt from an audiobook about koalas and their habitats. I learned that koalas are only found naturally in certain forests in Australia. They are so cute and fuzzy!Speaking Section:For the speaking part, the test assistant asked me all sorts of different questions. They wanted me to describe my family, talk about my favorite subject in school, and explain the rules of a game I like to play. I gave examples and tried to use lots of vocabulary words. Then the assistant told me to look at a few pictures and put them in a logical sequence to tell a story. The pictures showed a boy planting seeds, pulling weeds, watering the sprouts, andfinally harvesting ripe veggies. I looove gardening so that part was easy for me!At the very end, the assistant gave me a random topic and I had to give a short speech about it. My topic was "If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?"Here's what I said: "If I could have any superpower, I would want the ability to fly. Being able to soar through the clouds would be the most freeing and amazing feeling ever! I could jet off on adventures to explore every corner of the world. I would get to experience incredible bird's eye views that hardly anyone gets to witness. Just imagine the thrill of gliding effortlessly above cities, oceans, forests, and more. I could even fly up into outer space if I wanted! Having the power to fly would make me feel totally invincible and unstoppable. The sky would be the limit - actually scratch that, there would be no limits at all!"Phew, that was everything on the huge English test! Even though some parts were super tricky, I felt pretty good about most of my answers. I gave it my best effort and that's what counts. Fingers crossed I did well!Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for reading, and study hard for your English tests too!篇6The 2024 Beijing Academic English TestHi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grader at Beijing Elementary School. This year, I had to take the big Academic English Test that all the older kids have to do. I was pretty nervous about it, but my teacher Ms. Wang helped get me ready. She said it was super important to do well on this test if I wanted to get into a good middle school. No pressure, right?!The test had four sections - listening, reading, writing, and speaking. I'll tell you all about each part and what the questions were like. Maybe it will help you when it's your turn to take it!ListeningThis part was kind of fun! We got some headphones and had to listen to recordings of people talking in English. The voices were pretty clear, which was nice. There were conversations between two people that we had to answer questions about. Like what were they talking about? Or how did one person feel about something the other person said? Paying really close attention to all the details was key.We also had to listen to lectures and take notes on the important points. The lectures were about science topics like photosynthesis or the water cycle. I studied up on my science words in English before the test, which really paid off! Then there were some recordings that just gave instructions, like directions to get somewhere. We had to listen carefully and maybe draw a map or put the steps in order. The listening questions were multiple choice, which I liked. As long as I clearly understood the main points of each conversation or lecture, I could usually identify the right answer.ReadingOkay, I'll be honest - the reading section stressed me out a little. We had to read fairly long passages of different types, like stories, articles, and infographics. The passages were on all kinds of subjects too - biology, history, literature. Whew! After reading each passage, we had to answer questions testing our comprehension. The questions got pretty detailed, like analyzing the author's perspective or defining tricky vocabulary words based on context clues. For the literature passages, we might have to identify themes or make inferences about a character's motivations andfeelings. For the infographics and articles, we needed to be able to interpret data from graphs, charts and visuals. Two key things helped me a ton with the reading - first, doing practice readings at home and learning strategies like skimming for gist and scanning for details. Second, studying prefixes, root words, and other vocabulary building blocks in English. That made it easier to decode and figure out the harder words.WritingI actually felt pretty confident about the writing section because we practiced a lot of sample prompts in class. For the test, we had two writing tasks. The first one was just a short response to a question, like "What activities do you most enjoy and why?" For that, we just had to write a paragraph or two with clear examples and details to support our main idea. The longer task was an entire essay, probably around300-400 words. We got a couple of prompts to choose from, like "Who has inspired you the most and how have they impacted your life?" or "What discovery or innovation has been most important and why?"For the essay, we had to develop a clear thesis or main argument, provide specific reasons and examples, and have an organized structure with an intro, body, and conclusion. Using transition words, varying our sentences, and trying to write with accuracy and few errors was important too.My teacher's advice was to first plan out our key points and examples. Then get that framework down for the intro and each body paragraph. After that, we could go back and add more details, explanations and concluding thoughts. Having a solid plan made the writing part much less intimidating!SpeakingPhew, we made it to the last section! The speaking part involved recording ourselves responding to questions and prompts. For some questions, we just had to speak for 45-60 seconds about a basic topic like our daily routines, favorite books or sports, future hopes and dreams - that kind of thing. We could prepare a bit beforehand and then just record our response. There were also some role-play tasks where we had to pretend to be in a certain situation - like calling a restaurant to make a reservation, or discussing weekend plans with a friend. We'd get brief details about the scenario and then have to have a natural back-and-forth conversation following that situation. The hardest speaking prompts were when we had to give a longer speech about an opinion topic, like "What qualities make someone a good leader?" We only had a minute to gather our thoughts, and then had to speak for 1-2 minutes developing our perspective with clear reasons and examples. My teacher stressed staying focused, using transition words to connect our ideas, and trying to accurately and clearly explain our thoughts. Speaking slowly and clearly, without too many pause words like "umm" and "like" was important too. It took some practice, but I got more comfortable giving longer responses by the time the test came around.Whew, that's the full scoop on my experience with the big Beijing Academic English Test! It definitely challenged me in new ways across all the different sections. But doing lots of practice materials, learning strategies from my teacher, and just staying focused and confident helped a ton.I just got my results back and was relieved to see that I did pretty well overall! My listening and speaking scores were highest, and I passed the other sections too. With these scores, Ishould hopefully get into the great middle school program I was hoping for. Wish me luck!To any other students getting ready to take this test - study hard, but don't stress too much. Listen to your teachers, do your practice work, and just try your best. You've got this! Let me know if any of you have other questions about the test. I'm happy to share more tips!。
