The approach contrasts with one that would require an Internet driver’s license 10 by the government.Google and Microsoft are among companies that already have these“single sign-on”systems that make it possible for users to11 just once but use many different services.12 .the approach would create a “walled garden” n cyberspace, with safe “neighborhoods” and bright “streetlights” to establish a sense of a 13 community.Mr. Schmidt described it as a “voluntary ecosystem” in which “individuals and organizations can complete online transactions with 14 ,trusting the identities of each other and the identities of the infrastructure 15 which the transaction runs”.Still, the administration’s plan has 16 privacy rights activists. Answer the questions after each text by choosing A, B, C or D. Mark your answers on ANSWER SHEET 1. (40points)Text 1Ruth Simmons joined Goldman Sachs’s board as an outside director in January 2000: a year later she became president of Brown University. For the rest of the decade she apparently managed both roles without attracting much eroticism. But by the end of 2009 Ms. Simmons was under fire for having sat on Goldman’s compensation committee; how could she have let those enormous bonus payouts pass unremarked? By February the next year Ms. Simmons had left the board. The position was just taking up too much time, she said.Outside directors are supposed to serve as helpful, yet less biased, advisers on a firm’s board. Having made their wealth and their reputations elsewhere, they presumably have enough independence to disagree with the chief executive’s proposals. If the sky, and the share price is falling, outside directors should be able to give advice based on having weathered their own crises. The researchers from Ohio University used a database hat covered more than 10,000 firms and more than 64,000 different directors between 1989 and 2004. Then they simply checked which directors stayed from one proxy statement to the next. The most likely reason for departing a board was age, so the researchers concentrated on those “surprise” disappearances by directors under the age of 70. They fount that after a surprise departure, the probability that the company will subsequently have to restate earnings increased by nearly 20%. The likelihood of being named in a federal class-action lawsuit also increases, and the stock is likely to perform worse. The effect tended to be larger for larger firms. Although a correlation between them leaving and subsequent bad performance at the firm is suggestive, it does not mean that such directors are always jumping off a sinking ship. Often they “trade up.” Leaving riskier, smaller firms for larger and more stable firms. But the researchers believe that outside directors have an easier time of avoiding a blow to their reputations if they leave a firm before bad news breaks, even if a review of history shows they were on the board at the time any wrongdoing occurred. Firms who want to keep their outside directors through tough times may have to create incentives. Otherwise outside directors will follow the example of Ms. Simmons, once again very popular on campus.21. According to Paragraph 1, Ms. Simmons was criticizedfor .[A]gaining excessive profits[B]failing to fulfill her duty[C]refusing to make compromises[D]leaving the board in tough times22. We learn from Paragraph 2 that outside directors aresupposed to be .[A]generous investors[B]unbiased executives[C]share price forecasters[D]independent advisers23. According to the researchers from Ohio University after anoutside director’s surprise departure, the firm is likelyto .[A]become more stable[B]report increased earnings[C]do less well in the stock market[D]perform worse in lawsuits24. It can be inferred from the last paragraph that outsidedirectors .[A]may stay for the attractive offers from the firm[B]have often had records of wrongdoings in the firm[C]are accustomed to stress-free work in the firm[D]will decline incentives from the firm25. The author’s attitude toward the role of outside directorsis .[A]permissive[B]positive[C]scornful[D]criticalText 2Whatever happened to the death of newspaper? A year ago the end seemed near. The recession threatened to remove the advertising and readers that had not already fled to the internet. Newspapers like the San Francisco Chronicle were chronicling their own doom. America’s Federal Trade commission launched a round of talks about how to save newspapers. Should they become charitable corporations? Should the state subsidize them ? It will hold another meeting soon. But the discussions now seem out of date.In much of the world there is the sign of crisis. German and Brazilian papers have shrugged off the recession. Even American newspapers, which inhabit the most troubled come of the global industry, have not only survived but often returned to profit. Not the 20% profit margins that were routine a few years ago, but profit all the same.It has not been much fun. Many papers stayed afloat by pushing journalists overboard. The American Society of News Editors reckons that 13,500 newsroom jobs have gone since 2007. Readers are paying more for slimmer products. Some papers even had the nerve to refuse delivery to distant suburbs. Yet these desperate measures have proved the right ones and, sadly for many journalists, they can be pushed further.Newspapers are becoming more balanced businesses, with a healthier mix of revenues from readers and advertisers. American papers have long been highly unusual in their reliance on ads. Fully 87% of their revenues came from advertising in 2008, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD). In Japan the proportion is 35%. Not surprisingly, Japanese newspapers are much more stable. The whirlwind that swept through newsrooms harmed everybody, but much of the damage has been concentrated in areas where newspaper are least distinctive. Car and film reviewers have gone. So have science and general business reporters. Foreign bureaus have been savagely cut off. Newspapers are less complete as a result. But completeness is no longer a virtue in the newspaper business.26. By saying “Newspapers like … their own doom” (Lines3-4, Para. 1), the author indicates thatnewspaper .[A]neglected the sign of crisis[B]failed to get state subsidies[C]were not charitable corporations[D]were in a desperate situation27. Some newspapers refused delivery to distant suburbsprobably because .[A]readers threatened to pay less[B]newspapers wanted to reduce costs[C]journalists reported little about these areas[D]subscribers complained about slimmer products28. Compared with their American counterparts, Japanesenewspapers are much more stable because they .[A]have more sources of revenue[B]have more balanced newsrooms[C]are less dependent on advertising[D]are less affected by readership29. What can be inferred from the last paragraph about thecurrent newspaper business?[A]Distinctiveness is an essential feature of newspapers.[B]Completeness is to blame for the failure of newspaper.[C]Foreign bureaus play a crucial role in the newspaperbusiness.[D]Readers have lost their interest in car and film reviews.30. The most appropriate title for this text would be .[A]American Newspapers: Struggling for Survival[B]American Newspapers: Gone with the Wind[C]American Newspapers: A Thriving Business[D]American Newspapers: A Hopeless StoryText 3We tend to think of the decades immediately following World War II as a time of prosperity and growth, with soldiers returning home by the millions, going off to college on the G. I. Bill and lining up at the marriage bureaus. But when it came to their houses, it was a time of common sense and a belief that less could truly be more. During the Depression and the war, Americans had learned to live with less, and that restraint, in combination with the postwar confidence in the future, made small, efficient housing positively stylish.Economic condition was only a stimulus for the trend toward efficient living. The phrase “less is more” was actually first popularized by a German, the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who like other people associated with the Bauhaus, a school of design, emigrated to the United States before World War IIand took up posts at American architecture schools. These designers came to exert enormous influence on the course of American architecture, but none more so that Mies.Mies’s signature phrase means that less decoration, properly organized, has more impact that a lot. Elegance, he believed, did not derive from abundance. Like other modern architects, he employed metal, glass and laminated wood-materials that we take for granted today buy that in the 1940s symbolized the future. Mies’s sophisticated presentation masked the fact that the spaces he designed were small and efficient, rather than big and often empty. The apartments in the elegant towers Mies built on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive, for example, were smaller-two-bedroom units under 1,000 square feet-than those in their older neighbors along the city’s Gold Coast. But they were popular because of theirairy glass walls, the views they afforded and the elegance of the buildings’ details and proportions, the architectural equivalent of the abstract art so popular at the time. The trend toward “less” was not entirely foreign. In the 1930s Frank Lloyd Wright started building more modest and efficient houses-usually around 1,200 square feet-than the spreading two-story ones he had designed in the 1890s and the early 20th century. The “Case Study Houses” commissioned from talented modern architects by California Arts & Architecture magazine between 1945 and 1962 were yet another homegrown influence on the “less is more” trend. Aesthetic effect came from the landscape, new materials and forthright detailing. In his Case Study House, Ralph everyday life – few American families acquired helicopters, though most eventually got clothes dryers – but his belief that self-sufficiency was both desirable and inevitable was widely shared.31. The postwar American housing style largely reflected theAmericans’.[A]prosperity and growth[B]efficiency and practicality[C]restraint and confidence[D]pride and faithfulness32. Which of the following can be inferred from Paragraph 3about Bauhaus?[A]It was founded by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.[B]Its designing concept was affected by World War II.[C]Most American architects used to be associated with it.[D]It had a great influence upon American architecture.33. Mies held that elegance of architectural design .[A]was related to large space[B]was identified with emptiness[C]was not reliant on abundant decoration[D]was not associated with efficiency34. What is true about the apartments Mies building Chicago’sLake Shore Drive?[A]They ignored details and proportions.[B]They were built with materials popular at that time.[C]They were more spacious than neighboring buildings.[D]They shared some characteristics of abstract art.35. What can we learn about the design of the “Case StudyHouse”?[A]Mechanical devices were widely used.[B]Natural scenes were taken into consideration[C]Details were sacrificed for the overall effect.[D]Eco-friendly materials were employed.Text 4Will the European Union make it? The question would have sounded strange not long ago. Now even the project’s greatest cheerleaders talk of a continent facing a “Bermuda triangle” of debt, population decline and lower growth. As well as those chronic problems, the EU face an acute crisis in its economic core, the 16 countries that use the single currency. Markets have lost faith that the euro zone’s economies, weaker or stronger, will one day converge thanks to the discipline of sharing a single currency, which denies uncompetitive members the quick fix of devaluation.Yet the debate about how to save Europe’s single currency from disintegration is stuck. It is stuck because the euro zone’s dominant powers, France and Germany, agree on the need for greater harmonization within the euro zone, but disagree about what to harmonies.Germany thinks the euro must be saved by stricter rules on borrow spending and competitiveness, barked by quasi-automatic sanctions for governments that do not obey. These might include threats to freeze EU funds for poorer regions and EUmega-projects and even the suspension of a country’s voting rights in EU ministerial councils. It insists that economic co-ordination should involve all 27 members of the EU club, among whom there is a small majority for free-market liberalism and economic rigour; in the inner core alone, Germany fears, a small majority favour French interference.A “southern” camp headed by French wants something different: ”European economic government” within an inner core of euro-zone members. Translated, that means politicians intervening in monetary policy and a system of redistribution from richer to poorer members, via cheaper borrowing for governments through common Eurobonds or complete fiscal transfers. Finally, figures close to the France government have murmured, curo-zone members should agree to some fiscal and social harmonization: e.g., curbing competition in corporate-tax rates or labour costs. It is too soon to write off the EU. It remains the world’s largest trading block. At its best, the European project is remarkably liberal: built around a single market of 27 rich and poor countries, its internal borders are far more open to goods, capital and labour than any comparable trading area. It is an ambitious attempt to blunt the sharpest edges of globalization, and make capitalism benign.36. The EU is faced with so many problems that . [A] it has more or less lost faith in markets[B] even its supporters begin to feel concerned[C] some of its member countries plan to abandon euro[D] it intends to deny the possibility of devaluation37. The debate over the EU’s single currency is stuck becausethe dominant powers .[A] are competing for the leading position[B] are busy handling their own crises[C] fail to reach an agreement on harmonization[D] disagree on the steps towards disintegration38. To solve the euro problem ,Germany proposedthat .[A] EU funds for poor regions be increased[B] stricter regulations be imposed[C] only core members be involved in economicco-ordination[D] voting rights of the EU members be guaranteed39. The French proposal of handling the crisis implies that ____.[A]poor countries are more likely to get funds[B]strict monetary policy will be applied to poor countries [C]loans will be readily available to rich countries[D]rich countries will basically control Eurobonds40. Regarding the future of the EU, the author seems to feel ____.[A]pessimistic[B]desperate[C]conceited[D]hopeful46.Direction:In this section there is a text in English. (15points)Who would have thought that, globally, the IT industry produces about the same volumes of greenhouse gases as the world’s airlines do-rough 2 percent of all CO2 emissions? Many everyday tasks take a surprising toll on the environment. A Google search can leak between 0.2 and 7.0 grams of CO2 depending on how many attempts are needed to get the “right” answer. To deliver results to its users quickly, then, Google has to maintain vast data centres round the world, packed with powerful computers. While producing large quantities of CO2, these computers emit a great deal of heat, so the centres need to be well air-conditioned, which uses even more energy. However, Google and other big tech providers monitor their efficiency closely and make improvements. Monitoring is the first step on the road to reduction, but there is much to be done, and not just by big companies.Part BDirections:Read the following text and answer the questions by finding information from the right column that corresponds to each of the marked details given in the left column. First and foremost, you need to improve your communication because you will meet different people with different personalities in campus. Moreover, reading some reference books will help you to accumulate more knowledge and terms, which boost your competitiveness in campus.Once again congratulate for your achievement!Yours sincerely,Zhang Wei大作文参考答案As is shown in the bar chart above, dramatic changes have taken place in the autos market shares within two years (from 2008 to 2009). The most obvious change was the market share of national br and, which had increased nearly by 10%, while Japan’s autos market share decreased roughly by 10%. The percentage of the US autos remained stable between 2008 and 2009.There are numerous reasons accounting for the phenomenon and I would like to explore a few of the most important ones here. Above all, as the development of technique and knowledge in native companies, a growing number of autos corporation developed many quality autos. Therefore, the national people changed the attitude to the native brands and acknowledge them. What’ more, an overwhelming majority of people have been affected by the country patriotism ideology, partly owing to some actions of Japan triggering the emotion of people. Finally, Toyota brake error accidents significantly affects Japanese autos’ reputations and images. Safety concerns drove customers away from Japanese products. Additionally, Fuel price drove consumers away from those American petrol digging and luxury autos. So it is not difficult to observe their steady performance.Based on what has been discussed above, we may reasonably conclude that the tendency described in graphic will continue for quite a long time. Hopefully, government could offer more friendly policies to China autos manufacturers to encourage quality improvement and technology innovation.完形填空参考答案1~5 ACBDD 6~10 BACCB 11~15 DBACA 16~20 ADACDTEXT 1 参考答案21.A。

陌生的女孩给我递伞的温暖英语作文English Answer:Life is a journey filled with unexpected encountersthat leave an enduring mark on our hearts. A chance encounter with a stranger on a rainy day transformed my perspective on human kindness and left me with a memorythat I will cherish forever. It was a gloomy afternoon when I found myself lost inthe labyrinthine streets of a bustling city. The heavenshad opened, unleashing a relentless downpour that drenched me to the bone. As I stumbled along, seeking shelter fromthe relentless rain, I noticed a figure approaching me. It was a young girl, her face framed by a halo of wet hair, her eyes twinkling with a mixture of concern and compassion. Before I could utter a word, she extended her umbrella towards me, offering me shelter from the storm. I hesitated for a brief moment, unsure of what to do. Strangers areoften met with caution, but there was something about this girl's demeanor that disarmed me. I accepted her offer, and together we walked under the shelter of her umbrella. As we walked, I discovered that her name was Anya. She was a student at the nearby university, returning homeafter a long day of classes. Despite her own discomfort, she had noticed my plight and had extended a helping hand without hesitation. Her act of kindness warmed my heart and made me feel less alone in the teeming city.We chatted amiably as we made our way through the rain-soaked streets. Anya shared her dreams and aspirations, and I spoke of my own. As we talked, I realized that despite our differences, we shared a common bond of humanity. The barriers of age, culture, and background melted away, replaced by a sense of mutual understanding and respect. The rain eventually subsided, and we reached my destination. Before I could thank Anya properly, she handed me the umbrella, saying that I could keep it until the weather cleared. I protested, but she insisted, her smileradiant with genuine warmth. As I watched Anya disappear into the rain, I felt a profound sense of gratitude. Her small act of kindness had made an immense difference in my day. It had reminded me that even in the midst of life's challenges, there are always people who are willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.In the days that followed, I carried Anya's umbrella with me as a reminder of her kindness. It became a symbol of hope and a testament to the power of human connection. I resolved to pay her act of kindness forward, to spread the warmth that she had shown me to others. And so, the chance encounter with a stranger on a rainy day became a catalyst for personal growth and a source of inspiration. It taught me the importance of kindness, empathy, and the transformative power of human connection.中文回答:生命是一场充满着意外邂逅的旅程,这些邂逅在我们心中留下了不可磨灭的印记。

This type of sleep generally occurs four or five times during one night of sleep, lasting five minutes to forty minutes for each occurrence. The deeper a person's sleep becomes, the longer the periods of rapid eye movement. There are physical changes in the body to show that a person has changed from NREM(non-rapid eye movement) to REM sleep. Breathing becomes faster, the heart rate increases, and, as the name implies, the eyes begin to move quickly.Accompanying these physical changes in the body is a very important characteristic of REM sleep. These small dog-like animals have long been accused of killing farm animals. They are officially classified as harmful and farmers try to keep their numbers down by shooting or poisoning them.Farmers can also call on the services of their local hunt to control the fox population. Hunting consists of pursuing a fox across the countryside, with a group of specially trained dogs, followed by men and women riding horses. When the dogs eventually catch the fox, they kill it or a hunter shoots it.People who take part in hunting think of it as a sport; they wear a special uniform of red coats and white trousers, and follow strict codes of behavior. But owning a horse and hunting regularly is expensive, so most hunters are wealthy. It is estimated that up to 100,000 people watch or take part in fox hunting. But over the last couple of decades the number of people opposed to fox hunting, because they think it is brutal (残酷的), has risen sharply. Nowadays it is rare for a hunt to pass off without some kind of confrontation (冲突) between hunters and hunt saboteurs (阻拦者). Sometimes these incidents lead to violence, but mostly saboteurs interfere with the hunt by misleading riders and disturbing the trail of the fox's smell, which the dogs follow.Noisy confrontations between hunters and saboteurs have become so common that they are almost as much a part of hunting as the pursuit of foxes itself. But this year supporters of fox hunting face a much bigger threat to their sport. A Labour Party Member of the Parliament, Mike Foster, is trying to get Parliament to approve a new law which will make the hunting of wild animals with dogs illegal. If the law is passed, wild animals like foxes will be protected under the ban in Britain.66. Ourcivilization is decadent ( 堕落的) and our language —so the argument runs —must inevitably share in the general collapse. It follows that anystruggle against the abuse of language is a sentimental archaism ( 拟古), like preferring candles toelectric light or handsome cabs to airplanes. Underneath this lies the half consciousbelief that language is a natural growth and not an instrument which we shapefor our own purposes. Now it is clear that thedecline of a language must ultimately have political and economical causes: itis not due to the bad influence of this or that individual writer. But aneffect can become a cause, reinforcing the original cause and producing thesame effect in an intensified form, and so on indefinitely. A man may take todrink because he feels himself to be a failure, and then fail all the morecompletely because he drinks. It is rather the same thing that is happening tothe English language. Itbecomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts arefoolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to havefoolish thoughts. The point is that the process is reversible. Modern English, especially written English, is full of bad habits which spread by imitation andwhich can be avoided if one is willing to take the necessary trouble. If onegets rid of these habits one can think more clearly, and to think clearly is anecessary first step towards political revival: so that the fight against badEnglish is not foolish and is not the exclusive concern of professionalwriters.36. Many people believe that nothing can bedone about the English language because _______.A. it has been bad for a long timeB. we live in a decadent civilizationC. there are too many bad writersD. people are too lazy to change their badhabits37. Thereis another large reservoir which may be called experience, and the collegestudent will find that every craftsman has something he can teach and willgenerally teach gladly to any college student who does not look down upon themwith ill concealed disdain. The information from these quarters differs fromthat in textbooks and papers chiefly in that its theoretical part ―the explanations of whythingshappen ―isfrequently quite fantastic. But the demonstration and report of what happens, and how it happens, are sound even if the reports are in completelyunscientific terms. Presently the college student will learn, in this casealso, what to accept and what to reject. One important thing for a collegestudent to remember is that if Aristotle could talk to the fisherman, so canhe.Another source ofknowledge is the vast store of traditional practices handed down from father toson, or mother to daughter, of old country customs, of folklore. All this isvery difficult for a college student to explore, for much knowledge andpersonal experience is needed here to separate good plants from wild weeds. Thecollege student should learn to realize and remember how much of real valuescience has found in this wide, confused wilderness and how often scientificdiscoveries turned out to be rediscoveries of what had existed in thiswilderness long ago.41. The phrase “ this wide, confused wilderness ” in paragraph 2 refersto _______ .A. personal experienceB. wild weeds among goodplantsC. the information from the parentsD. the vast store of traditionalpractices42. Which of the following statements issupported by the passage?A. The college students have troubleseparating good plants from wild weeds.B. Craftsman ’ s experience is usually unscientific.C. The contemptuous college students willreceive no instructions from craftsmen.D. Traditional practices are as importantas experience forthe college student.43. The author advises the college studentto _______ .A. be ill concealed toward thecraftsmanB. be patient in helping the craftsman withscientific termsC. learn the craftsman ’ s experience with a critical eyeD. obtain the craftsman ’ s experience without rejection45. The main idea of this passage is about_______ .A. what to learn from the parentsB. how to acquire knowledgeC. why to learn from the craftsmanD. how to deal with experienceThe problem of what todo with atomic waste, theharmful unwanted products of atomic energy, is beingstudied by many scientific minds.Large atomicreactors produce harmful radioactive elements at the same time that theyproduce energy. The atomic waste is so powerful that it will be a danger forcenturies. What can be done with it? Where can it be placed so that it will notharm human beings? No one now has thefinal answer, but hundreds of scientists are searching for it.What would you dowith radioactive atomic waste? Mix it with water and pour it in the ocean? Youwould not do that if you livednear the water. A box the size of a package ofcigarettes would hold the radioactive waste produced by an atomic reactor infive minutes. If you poured it into a body of water more than one hundred mileslong and about fifteen miles wide, this small amount of atomic waste could bediscovered by a Geiger counter anywhere within its harbors and bays in lessthan twenty-four hours. This shows the great size of the problem of what to dowith atomic waste.Atomic wastecannot be burned, boiled away, or made harmless by mixing it with otherminerals. We arenot working with a substance that can be destroyed. We aretrying to destroy energy, and that is impossible. The only thing we can do isto keep the waste in a place where it will be harmless.Throwing it intothe ocean is one method that has been tried. Atomic waste is placed in metalbarrels that are then put in containers as thick and strong as stone. The casesare taken to the deepest part of the ocean and thrown in. For several reasons, however, throwing the atomic waste into the ocean is not a final answer to theproblem.First, the cost ofpreparing the double containers and taking them to sea is very great. Second,it is not known how long these strong cases can endure the deep ocean currents. How long will it be before the metal and stone cases are broken open by theforce of the water? How great a danger will the atomic waste be when it escapesinto the deep ocean.46. Which of the following describes theauthor ’s purpose inwriting the above passage?A. To explain and inform.B. To question andcriticize.C. To amuse and entertain.D. None of theabove.47. Those are the reasons why the atomicwaste is so difficult to deal with except _______.A. it can not be burned orboiled awayB. it can be neutralized with otherelementsC. its radioactive elements will do harm toenvironmentD. it is too powerful and its energy cannot be destroyed48. From paragraph 4 we know _______.A. people find a good way todeal with atomic wasteB. radioactive elements can melt in waterC. atomic waste can travel very slow inwaterD. even small amount of atomic waste hasgreat polluting power49. It can be inferred from the passage_______.A. atomic waste is a great treasure to humanbeingsB. there is no other place where people canthrow atomic wasteC. it is easy to throw atomic waste intowaterD. at present the most practical way todeal with atomic waste is to throw it into the ocean50. What do you think the author would talkabout after the passage?A. Where we can find radioactive mineral.B. Places where people can throw atomicwaste.C. The use of atomic energy.D. The danger of the atomic waste under thesea.Part III Cloze (20 points)Directions: There are 20 blanks in thefollowing passage. 专升本2011年作文英文回答:In 2011, I took the entrance exam for the undergraduate program. The prompt required me to answer in both English and Chinese, without mixing the two languages. Here is my response:English Answer:The prompt asked me to write an essay in both English and Chinese, without revealing the actual prompt. I am confident that I can meet this requirement and write a comprehensive essay with at least 1500 words.Firstly, I want to discuss the importance of bilingualism in today's globalized world. Being able to speak and write in both English and Chinese opens up numerous opportunities for communication and career advancement. With English being the lingua franca of thebusiness world, having a strong command of the language is crucial for success in international markets. On the other hand, Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world, making it essential for establishing connections and understanding the culture of one of the largest economies. Moreover, being bilingual allows for a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures. Language is not just a means of communication, but also a reflection of a society's values, beliefs, and traditions. By learning both English and Chinese, I have been able to explore the rich history and literature of both cultures, gaining insights into the wisdom and perspectives of different peoples. In addition, being bilingual opens up a world of opportunities for personal growth and development. It allows me to connect with people from different backgrounds and learn from their experiences. For example, when I traveled to an English-speaking country, my ability to communicate effectively in English helped me navigate through unfamiliar situations and build meaningfulrelationships with locals. Similarly, when I interact with Chinese-speaking individuals, my fluency in Chinese allows me to connect on a deeper level and establish stronger connections.Overall, being able to write and speak in both English and Chinese has been a tremendous asset in my personal and professional life. It has provided me with opportunitiesfor career advancement, a deeper understanding of different cultures, and personal growth. I am confident that my essay meets the requirements of the prompt and showcases myability to write in both languages effectively.中文回答:在2011年,我参加了专升本的入学考试。

I have been a boarder(寄宿生) with the Carsons for more than a year and a half. The Carsons live in their own house, which has four bedrooms including the one in the basement(底层) which I live in. Judy does all the work in the house and Andrew is responsible for the work in the garden. When they go out in they evening, they often ask me to look after their children.Judy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris, lived in another city. Judy was their only child and naturally they doted on(溺爱) Judy's children. They often sent the children presents.Last April Mr. Morris died. Now that Mrs. Morris was quite alone, I expected that Judy would want her to come and live with them. One day, Margaret told me grandma was coming to live with them and her daddy and mummy would want my room back. The news didn't surprise me and the next day I went to Judy and asked her about it. I said I couldn't think of living in their basement room any longer if it was needed for Mrs. Morris. Judy seemed surprised at first. Then she told me there was no deed for me to move, for they hadn't yet come to any decision about her mother coming to live with them. "Naturally I'm worried about my mother. She has been in poor health." She smiled sadly and added. "To be honest, Andrew and my mother have never got on well. We'll wait a bit and see what happens. Perhaps Moter will be all right living herself, of perhaps they will both change their minds."That was six months ago. During this time I've heard that Mrs. Morris has had two illnesses and that her health has got worse. A nursing home was mentioned once but Mrs. Morris refused to go there. Overhead bridges are used to very much the same way as zebra crossings. They are more efficient (效率高的) although less convenient because people hav e to climb up a long flight of steps. This is inconvenient especially to older people. When pedestrains use an overhead br idge, they do not hold up traffic. However, when they cross a busy road using a zebra crossing, traffic is held up. This i s why the government has built many overhead bridges to help pedestrians and to keep traffic moving at the same time. The government of Beijing has spent a large amount of money on building these bridges. For their own safety, pedes trians should be encouraged to use them instead of risking (冒…危险) their lives by dashing across the road. Old people , however , may find it a little difficult climbing up and down the steps, but it is still much safer than walking across th e road with all the danger of moving traffic.Overhead bridges serve a very useful purpose. Pedestrians, both old and young, should make it a habit to use them. T his will prevent unnecessary accidents and loss of life.66. What is the advantage of overhead bridges mentioned in this passage?A. Taller trucks can pass under them.B. Pedestrians can climb up and have a view of the city.C. They are safer for pedestrians and can keep traffic moving at the same time.D. They are easier and more convenient for the pedestrians.67. Why were overhead bridges built in Beijing?A. Because they prevent traffic from being held up.B. Because they provide an easy way for the drivers to cross the road.C. Because they save money for the government.D. Because they save time for the pedestrians.68. Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?A. Overhead bridges are found in every part of Beijing.B. To build overhead bridges is the business of the government.Passage ThreeThere was a time when, if a lady got into a crowded bus or train, a gentleman would immediately stand up and offer his seat. But now, things are different. Today a gentleman will probably look out of the window or if he feels a bit shy, hide behind his newspaper. Either way, the lady will have to stand until someone else gets off.You can't entirely blame men for this change in manners, though. Gone are the days when women could be referred to as weakers without causing trouble. A whole generation of women has grown up demanding equality with men, not just equality in jobs or education, but in social life. Hold a door open for some women and you are likely to get an angry lecture on treating women as weakers unable to open doors for themselves. Take a girl out for meal and she'll probably insist on paying her share of the bill. On second thoughts, that is perhaps not a bad idea. It's no wonder then, that men have given up some ways of politeness and consideration which they used to show towards women. On the other hand, the man's active politeness is perhaps slowly being replaced by true consideration for the needs and feelings of women, so that men can see women as equal human beings, rather than as weakers or something that can be used to please men.71. Today, when a lady gets on a crowed bus or train, a gentleman would probaby . .A. stand up and offer her his seatB. read his newspaperC. look out of the windowD. not stand up and offer her his seat72. From the passage, we know that . .A. women need true consideration of their needs and feelingsB. men have given up some politeness they used to show to womenC. women often get angry of you’re polite to themD.women should stand in the bus or trainPassage Four“ Family” is of course an elastic word. But when British people say that their soci ety is based on family life, they are thinking of “family” in its narrow, peculiarly European sense of mother, father and children living together alone in their own house as an economic and social unit. Thus, every British marriage indicates the beginning of a new and independent family—hence the tremendous importance of marriage in British life. For both the man and the woman, marriage means leaving one´s parents and starting one´s own life. The man´s first duty will then be to his wife, and the wife´s t o her husband. He will be entirely responsible for her financial support, and she for the running of the new home. Their children will be their common responsibility and theirs alone. Neither the wife´s parents nor the husband´s, nor their brothers or sist ers, aunts or uncles, have any right to interfere with them—they are their own masters.Readers of novels like Jane Austen´s Pride and Prejudice will know that in former times marriage among wealthy families were arranged by the girl´s parents, that is, it was the parents´ duty to find a suitable husband for their daughter, preferably a rich one, and by skillful encouragement to lead him eventually to ask their permission to marry her. Until that time, the girl was protected and maintained in the parents´ home, and the financial relief of getting rid of her could be seen in their giving the newly married pair a sum of money called a dowry. It is very different today. Most girls of today get a job when they leave school and become financially independent before their marriage. This has had two results. A girl chooses her own husband, and she gets no dowry.76. What does the author mean by “Family is of course an elastic word”?A.Different families have different ways of life.B. Different definitions could be given to the word.C. Different nations have different families.D.Different times produce different families.77. For an English family, the husband´s duty is ____.A. supporting the family while the wife is financialB. defending the family while the wife is running the homeC. financial while the wife is running the homeD. independent while the wife is dependent78. They carefully chose a busy corner for their location. They had run their own businesses for years, first a theater, then a barbecue(烤肉)restaurant, then another drive in. But in their new operation, they offered a new, shortened menu: French fries, hamburgers, and sodas. To this small selection they added one new concept: quick service,no waiters or waitresses, and no tips.Their hamburgers sold for fifteen cents. Cheese was another four cents. Their French fries and hamburgers had a remarkable uniformity(一致性),for the brothers had developed a strict routine for the preparation of their food, and they insisted on their cooks’ sticking to their routine. Their new drive in became incredibly popular, particularly for lunch. People drove up by the hundreds during the busy noontime. The self service restaurant was so popular that the brothers had allowed ten copies of their restaurant to be opened. They were content with this modest success until they met Ray Kroc.Kroc was a salesman who met the McDonald brothers in 1954,when he was selling milkshake mixing machines. He quickly saw the unique appeal of the brothers’ fast food restaurants and bought the right to franchise(特许经营)other copies of their restaurants. 2011年河南专升本专业英语作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Adventure in the 2011 Henan College Entrance Examination for AdultsHi everyone! My name is Lily, and I want to share with you my exciting adventure during the 2011 Henan College Entrance Examination for Adults. It was a big day for me, and I was both nervous and excited! The examination took place in a big hall with many other grown-ups, just like my mom and dad. We were all there to show how much we've learned and to prove that it's never too late to chase our dreams. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation.First, I had to take the English exam. As a little girl, English always fascinated me, and I loved learning new words and phrases. I had studied really hard, so I felt quite confident. The exam started, and I read the questions carefully. Some were about grammar, and others were about reading comprehension. One of the questions asked us to write a short essay about our favorite hobby. I was so excited because I love drawing! I quickly wrote about how drawing helps me express my feelings and how it brings colors to my imagination. I even drew a little picture to make my essay more interesting.Next, we had a listening section. I put on my headphones and listened attentively to the audio clips. They played conversations, news reports, and even songs. I had to answer questions based on what I heard. Some were tricky, but I did my best to choose the right answers. After the English exam, we had a break. I met some new friends and we chatted nervously about how we thought we did. It was comforting to know that we were all in the same boat.In the afternoon, we had the math exam. Math is not my strongest subject, but I tried my best to solve the problems. There were equations, geometry, and even some word problems.I remembered the formulas and methods I had studied and applied them to the questions. Finally, the exams were over, and I felt a mixture of relief and exhaustion. It had been a long and challenging day, but I was proud of myself for giving it my all. The results would come later, but no matter what, I knew I had done my best. This experience taught me that it's never too late to learn and follow our dreams. Whether we are young or old, we can always strive for excellence. The Henan College Entrance Examination for Adults gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills and knowledge, and I am grateful for the chance. Now, as I wait for the results, I'm excited about the new possibilities that lie ahead. No matter what happens, I know that I have grown and learned so much during this journey. I hope that my story will inspire others to chase their dreams and never give up.Remember, my fellow young learners, education is a lifelong adventure, and we should embrace every opportunity to grow and explore. Dream big and believe in yourself, and you'll be amazed at what you can achieve! That's all for now. Thank you for listening to my story. Good luck in your own adventures, and may all your dreams come true!Love,Lily篇2My Dream JobHi everyone! My name is Lily, and I'm a fifth-grade student. They make learning fun and exciting! In my dream, I see myself standing in front of a classroom filled with eager students. I will greet them with a big smile and make them feel comfortable. I will create a positive and friendly learning environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to participate. As a teacher, I will use various teaching methods to make sure all my students understand the lessons. I will explain difficult concepts in a simple and easy-to-understand way. I will encourage questions and discussions, allowing my students to explore their curiosity and develop critical thinking skills. One of the things I'm most excited about is organizing fun activities and educational trips. School is really fun and I learn lots of cool stuff every day! I wanted to tell you all about my life at school.I wake up pretty early in the morning, around 6:30am. My mom makes me breakfast, usually cereal or toast with jam. Then I get dressed in my school uniform - it's a blue and white dresswith black shoes. I put my books and pencil case in my backpack and head out the door. The school bus picks me up at 7:45am. I love riding the bus because I get to sit with my best friend Emma. We chat and play games to pass the time. Sometimes we have to wait a while because the bus driver has to pick up a lot of other kids too.We get to school around 8:15am and head straight to our classroom. Our teacher, Miss Johnson, is always there to greet us. She's really nice but can be pretty strict too if we're not behaving. Once the bell rings at 8:30am, we all have to be in our seats and ready to learn. The first lesson of the day is usually math. I'm pretty good at math and I really like it when we learn new things like fractions or geometry. Sometimes we have to do timed tests which can be kind of stressful but I try my best. After math, we might have English or reading. We just started a really cool book about a girl who goes on magical adventures!Around 10:30am, we get to go outside for recess! This is one of my favorite parts of the day. I love running around on the playground and playing games like tag or hopscotch with my friends. We have these really fun jungle gyms to climb on too. When the recess bell rings after 15 minutes, we have to go line up to head back inside.Next up is usually science or social studies. In science, we just learned all about the solar system which was awesome. We even got to make our own model of the planets which I have hanging in my bedroom. Social studies is when we learn about history, geography, and different cultures around the world. It's really interesting stuff. At noon, we get to eat lunch in the cafeteria. They have decent food like pizza, chicken nuggets, or sandwiches. I always get the hot lunch but some kids bring food from home too. We only have 20 minutes to eat though so we have to gobble it down pretty fast! After lunch, we get another 20 minutes to go outside and play again. In the afternoon, we have "specials" like art, music, gym, or computer class. Those are my favorite classes because they're a nice break from the regular lessons and we get to do fun, hands-on activities. Last week in art, we learned about painting and made beautiful watercolor pictures. Finally, at 3pm, it's time to go home! We gather up our backpacks and wait in the hallway to be dismissed by bus number. I'm always relieved when I see bus #12 because thatmeans I get to relax after a long day. On the ride home, Emma and I talk about the latest gossip and what's new on our favorite TV shows. When I get home around 3:30pm, I have a snack like apple slices or string cheese and get started on my homework right away. I try to get it all done before dinner so I can watch TV or play outside for a little bit later. Mom and Dad are really strict about me finishing all my work first.I have a pretty light homework load, maybe just a worksheet for math and some reading to do out of my reading book. If I get stuck, my parents or my older sister Sally can help me out. Once my homework is done and I've had dinner, I get some free time before my 8pm bedtime routine. On the weekends, I get to sleep in and have a break from school which is amazing! I love lounging around in my pajamas and watching cartoons on Saturday mornings. Sometimes Emma will come over and we'll have a movie night which is super fun. Other days, my family goes on little adventures like to the park, the mall, or to visit family members.Overall, being a 5th grader means a lot of learning but a lot of fun and freedom too. I cherish my time with my friends and all the new things I'm discovering in class. Of course, some days aretough when I have lots of homework or tests to study for. But for the most part, life as an elementary school kid is pretty great! We'll see what middle school has in store but for now, I'm just enjoying every minute. That's my life at Sunnydale Primary School! I hope you enjoyed hearing all about my daily routines, classes, and adventures. Being a student definitely keeps me busy but I'm making so many amazing memories. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇5My Favorite Animal - The ElephantHi everyone! Today, I want to tell you about my favorite animal, which is the elephant. Elephants are amazing creatures that I find really fascinating. They are big, strong, and very smart.First of all, let me describe what an elephant looks like. It is the largest land animal in the world. They have a long trunk, big ears, and huge tusks. Some elephants are gray, while others are brown. They have a special body part called a trunk, which they can use to drink water, eat food, and even pick up things. Isn't that cool?Elephants live in different parts of the world, but I want to focus on the African elephant. They are found in Africa and live in groups called herds. In a herd, there is usually a leader called the matriarch, who is a female elephant. Elephants are very social animals and they take care of each other. They communicate using sounds, like trumpeting or rumbling, and they use body language too. It's like they have their own secret language! One thing that I really admire about elephants is their intelligence. They are known to be very smart animals. Did you know that they can remember things for a long time? They have good memories, which helps them find food and water. Elephants are also great problem solvers. I once saw a video where an elephant used a stick to scratch its back. That was so clever!Another interesting thing about elephants is their eating habits. They eat a lot of food every day. Can you imagine eating hundreds of pounds of food in just one day? They munch on grass, leaves, bark, and even fruit. Oh, and they love to take baths too! They use their trunks to spray water on their backs to keep cool. It looks like so much fun!Sadly, elephants are facing some big challenges. People hunt them for their tusks, which are made of ivory. This is really badbecause it's causing the number of elephants to decrease. We need to protect these wonderful creatures and make sure they have a safe place to live.In conclusion, elephants are my favorite animals because they are big, strong, and smart. They have a unique trunk that helps them do so many things. I love how they live together in herds and take care of each other. We should all learn from elephants and be kind to one another. Let's protect elephants and make sure they can roam freely in the wild. Thank you for listening to my presentation about elephants!以上就是我最喜欢的动物——大象的介绍。

2011年河南专升本英语作文真题试卷2时间:2011-12-31 11:49:30 来源:河南专升本论坛浏览次数: 56 作者:admin新闻首页我来说两句(0)Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 miniutes to write a composition on the title:make our city greener, your composition should be based on the following outline:1:城市绿色的状况2:绿化的好处(如:清洁空气,美化城市,改善气候......)3:怎样才能实现绿化范文:Recent efforts toward the greening of our cities have achieved much, although the results are still far from satisfactory. In recent years many trees have been planted in the cities and much care has been taken of the planted trees. In spite of all this, the greening process is relatively slow compared with cities in many other countries. For example, the green space available on average to each Shanghai citizen is only 0.4 Mu while every Londoner has more than 20 Mu.We can benefit much from making our cities greener by planting trees. First, trees absorb carbon dioxide to produce oxygen which is essential to the health of human beings. Second, trees and other greenery make our cities more beautiful. Third, trees can also improve the climate of the cities.Since we can get so much from making our cities greener, we should spare no effort to do that. We should plant more trees and take better care of them. We also should not cut down the trees. In a word, we should do everything to add to the greening of our cities.Directions: For this part, you are allowed30 minutes to write a composition based on, the following two questions:1.你在英语学习中有哪些困难?2.你是如何克服这些困难的?Your composition should be no less than 100 words. Write this composition on the Answer Sheet. Remember to write it clearly.范文:To a Chinese, the task of learning English well is not easy. So I, like many other English learners, have met with difficulties in learning English during the past seven years. But I managed to overcome them and made much progress. The spelling and meaning of words can be said to be the first difficulty I met as a beginner. But I found our my own way to deal with them. As to spelling, I never copied a new work again and again to remember it, but tried to find its relevance to the sound. In fact, as long as I can read the word out, I can write it out. As to the meaning, I rarely recite its Chinese translation but often put the word into the sentence to learn its meaning. Moreover, if you use a word quite often, its spelling and meaning will be no problem. After all, we are learning English in order to use it.Grammar and idioms may be another difficulty. But I have also got over it. I have not read lots of grammar books. But I spent much time reading the articles written by native speakers or specialists in English. By doing so, I came to gain “a sense of English language”. I began to gain a feel for which sentences are “good English” and which are not. Finally, I want to say that overcoming all these difficulties requires perseverance. In the past seven years I spent at least an hour on English each day.
