Describe the advantages and disadvantages of doing a part time job.1.Do you agree or disagree that one of your friends is planning to work part-time while studying on campus?托福口语范文一:Well, there are numerous benefits to hold a part time job. Students can get valuable working experience and real world exposure, thus they can write this on their resume, and employers value this experience, consequently, it gives students a better shot to find a job in the future. However, there are some drags, it will cost students too much time and they will be too stressed out. You know, students have already been overwhelmed with a lot of assignment, like presentations, group project and sometimes they have to stay up late to cram for exams, and getting a part time job only makes them stressed out.托福口语范文二:Sample answerI personally would agree with his or her action. There are several reasons. To start with, working part-time will not only get you bills but also precious experience if you choose a right job to do. For example, I have a part-time job in my college working in a wood factory and I happened to major in business. During the work, I actually make sense of the currency flow by the theories I learnt back on campus while at the same time I could earn the money that is fairly enough for my food cost and supplement for working out.So as a result, I would definitely support with him or her to work part-time.托福口语范文三:Task 1参考答案:Well I think doing part-time jobs has the following advantages: first, it helps us to enlarge social circle, accumulate social experience and strike a balance between study and work, thus enhance our time management and multi-tasking skills;second, it helps us to become financially independent and be able to share financial burden of our parents. As for its disadvantages, I think safety concerns, and time or energy investment should be taken into consideration.T2: If the following two things overlap with each other, which would you prefer: dinner together with your family or attend your friends’party on the weekend?TASK 2.Which one of the following to invitation will you go to, a family dinner party or a friends party? If the following two things overlap with each other, which would you prefer: dinner together with your family or attend your friends’party on the weekend?托福口语范文一:Personally, I would say I will definitely go to a family dinner. First off, having dinner with families can help me to connect more with my families. Parents are the very first teachers in our psychologicaldevelopment, and they, together with other family members shape our early behaviors, values and even habits. So, I should keep families company. Additionally, as an adult, I am so overwhelmed with my schoolwork, like, assignments, presentations, and group projects. Seldom do I have time to interact with my families, thus I will never let go any chance to get more connected with families since they are such a big part of our lives.托福口语范文二:Sample answerI would prefer to go back home to spend time with my family in a dinner party.I was working in a strange city far away from home and rarely get a chance to be with my brothers and sisters. I sometimes felt a little bit homesick. Hence that I want to go back to meet up with my family. While meeting up with friends is not quite an exciting thing to do. Coz we gather together occasionally. Especially when we now have our own work field and group, we pretty much have little common interests. So I would choose to go back home.托福口语范文三:Task 2参考答案:Well, I would choose to dinner together with my family, if the two things meet at the same time. For me, family gathering is always the most important occasion on earth. I have been busy working all the time in weekdays, so during the weekend, a nice dinner with family is what I desire the most, when we exchange information and greetings, share good food and enjoy the quality family time.Although friends are of great importance to me as well, I can explain the situation to them, plus, we have plenty of other chances to party together; I think they will definitely show their support and understanding.托福口语题目:Which of the following activities should the university give rewards to its high performance? (1). Volunteer service (2).Athletic achievement (3). Academic performance托福口语参考答案:Well, personally, I would say school should reward students who are active in doing social volunteer work. Actually, university is not merely about sports and academics, and frankly, we have paid too much attention in these areas and it seems like we downplay the importance of volunteering. Voluntary activities should be a big part of university life, one should be compassionate about others, especially the unlucky ones. One will feel like they are needed by the community and having something to offer back to society gives them a sense of purpose.托福口语题目:Describe a serious problem that your country is facing. Explain why it is so serious.托福口语参考答案:Personally, I think environment pollution is an enduring problem that we have today. Vehicle emission and poisonous gas discharged by factories are major factors causing the air pollution. Sometimes, the smog and haze in big cities are so serious that people can barely breathe. Actually, haze and fog have negative impact on people’s mood and citizens suffer from dizziness and depression when they suffer from serious haze several days in a row. Also, haze and fog can cause a series of diseases, like heart disease, stroke, respiratory illnesses, birth defects and cancer.托福口语题目:Your friend is always late for group events, what suggestions do you have for him?托福口语参考答案:I would have he following suggestions, first off, he should plan things ahead and do things as early as possible. For example, if you have an appointment with a friend, try to be 10 or 15 minutes early and use the time for a specific activity, such as writing notes to people, reading a novel, or catching up with friends on the phone. This strategy can helpconvert dreaded wait time into time that is productive and pleasurable, and this gives one an incentive to be on time.地点:1. Between the following two places, where would you choose to live?1. big and new place but far from your workplace and/or university2. small and old place but near your workplace and/or universityPersonally, I'd like to live in a bigger place that is far away from my workplace. Actually, a bigger place far away from my workplace is more likely to be in the suburb than otherwise, and I am the kind of person who like peace and tranquility. I want to get away from the noise and pollution, and I hate the hustle and bustle of the city. Working in the downtown areas all day along is boring, and I want to escape from these concrete jungle and live far away. You know since my workplace is located in the downtown areas, I just want to get away from that place and find somewhere that is far away.2. When going on a vacation, some people prefer to stay in a hotel, while others prefer to camp outside in a tent. Which do you prefer?Personally, I would choose to camp outside in a tent. The only reason for me to go on a vacation is to get away from the busy streets and concrete jungles, and get a chance to be close to mother nature, by camping outside, I got a chance to appreciate the beautiful starry sky atnight, and enjoy the tranquility, I don't have the chance to enjoy that moment when living in the city. Also, camping outside makes it easier for me to do some hiking, like walking on the trail, and do some fishing and BBQ.3. Some people spend their vacation visiting just one place. Others prefer to spend their vacation visiting several different places and spending a shorter amount of time in each of these places.Which do you prefer and why. Personally, I would like to travel around in different place instead of just staying in one place. I am the kind of person who likes new and exciting things and exploration. If I stay in one place, I will get extremely bored, you know, the scenery of one place is just repetitive, and there is nothing new. On top of that, by traveling around to different places, I can be exposed to different cultural elements. When traveling around different places, I got a chance to talk to locals and get to know their culture, customs and way of living. By interacting with them I can broaden my horizon and have new perspective on things.人物:1. Talk about one of your family member who has similar traits as you. Describe that trait.I would say my dad has the same personality as me. I am very passionate and optimistic person, and I like constantly taking challengesin my life and doing something that I have never experienced before, like studying abroad. I would say my dad is also the kind of person who likes to take challenges. For example, he encouraged me to study abroad despite of the challenges that I might face, like language barriers and cultural shocks. When I was studying in America, he gave me lots of encouragement and motivation.2. Describe a family member who has a different personality from you and explain why?I would say my dad has a totally different personality from me. I am very passionate and optimistic person, and I like constantly taking challenges in my life and doing something that I have never experienced before, like studying abroad. However, my dad is a quite conservative person, he would never do something that will make him stand out, and frankly, he is kind of pessimistic and sometimes cynical about the world, specifically, he would complain about negative things in life instead of thinking on the bright side.学生(学业、学校、学习方法)类:1. What kind of characteristics or components should a good school have?Well, personally, I think prestigious universities should have better facilities, science students depend on lab equipments to test theories in books, just learning theories without experiment in the lab is too boringand unproductive, so facilities, like research centers are very important. On top of that, professors are the key resource of a university, cuz they are the ones who can motivate the students and develop their skills and make them more creative, thus giving the students a better chance to be successful in the future.2. Some students prefer to study in a library. Others prefer to study at home or in dormitories. Which way do you prefer and why? Include reasons and details in your response.I would say I'd like to study in the library. The most obvious reason is that it is very quiet in the library, and I can fully focus on your work and nothing can distract me. There are just too much distraction to study at home, I can lay on my bed and play computer games when I feel bored, it is just not that productive compared to studying in the library. Plus, studying in the library, I feel like people around me are also studying, and that is a motivation for me to concentrate on my own work. For these reasons, I would say I like to study in the library.3. Talk about a subject you enjoy learning in school.Well, English is the subject that I like most. I have great motivation to learn English, to begin with, I find English not very difficult to learn, and actually it is pretty easy to pick up. Unlike other subjects like math, physics, which are pretty abstract and boring to learn. It is very cool to be able to speak a foreign language, and I can make friends with peoplewho are from distinctive cultural backgrounds, thus I got a chance to talk to foreigners and get to know their culture, customs and way of living. By interacting with them I can broaden my horizon and have new perspective on things, and I bet I can learn from them enormously.4. Talk about two schools which you attended and their differences.Well, the first school that I attended in the US is called XXXXX, it's located in a very small town with a population less than 20 thousand. The professor seems to know everyone, because the class size is very small. so everyone got a chance to discuss with the professor about academic problems. The second university I went to is university of XXXX, this university is in decent size with a big campus, there is about 30000 students and faculties altogether. I like the second one because it's a big athletic university and I am big college sports fan. I follow Mizzou basketball and football very closely.5. Which of the following do you think is the best way to get to know a new school, joining a one-day campus tour, spending a weekend on a campus playing field or auditing the lectures?Personally, I would say auditing class is the best way to know the university better, since faculty members are an indispensable part of the university. Their knowledge, teaching skills and even the way they teach the class represent the university. The values they uphold in the class are the ones that are cherished by the university. Plus, when auditing class, one can tell if there are lots of class discussions or not, also, they get to know the size of the class. These are important factors when choosing a university since nobody wants to attend a school, whose class size are too big, because in a big class one cannot interact with their peers and professors.6. A friend of yours always gets up late in the morning and misses his morning classes. The professor has told him that this behavior will affect his grade. What advice would you give him and why?Personally, I would suggest him sleep early, actually he should go to bed before 10 o'clock, and then he can take a good rest, hence the next day he can go to the class refreshed. Additionally, I would say he should talk to the professor and ask him or her if it is possible for him to make up the absence in another way, like doing an extra credit assignment and I bet if he is sincere enough, the professor will understand his tough situation and might say yes to him, so eventually he can keep a higher GPA.7. Some students like to choose university with a high reputation but no scholarship, others prefer to choose a university with scholarship but less reputable. Which one do you like to choose?Well, personally, I would prefer to study in a less well known university with a scholarship. To begin with, the university tuition can be really expensive, and getting scholarship can help me to relieve myfinancial pressure. Consequently, I can concentrate on my study. Additionally, most of the time, one needs to be research assistant or teaching assistant upon receiving the scholarship. These teaching and research experience will be very helpful for my future, like when I plan to apply for a graduate school and even future jobs, and I will get a better to achieve my dreams in the future.8. Some people think that the best way to learn is to attend lectures. Others think that it is better to learn on their own. Which do you prefer and why?Well, personally, I prefer to attend lectures. Actually, studying alone can be boring and I am the kind of person who likes to interact with others when learning. By attending lectures, I get a chance to hear multiple points of view, although some points might not be as thought-provoking, I can learn a lot of stuff beyond the textbooks anyway, and understand how an idea works in real life when other students share their personal experiences. Additionally, the professor who holds the lecture can make difficult and abstract concepts and ideas easy to understand, one might not be able to understand some materials when studying alone.9. Do you like to buy new books or used books. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.I would say I prefer buying used books. As a college students, professors sometimes require students to buy textbooks, and most of the time, the textbooks can be really expensive, you might easily spend over $100 on a single book. That is a lot for a college kid. Additionally, most of the time used books are not that crappy, you can use it, and take notes on it and highlight the important part, it has no impact on your study at all. So based on these reasons, I find it more reasonable to buy used books at a cheaper price.10. Some people like to listen to audio books, others like to read paper books. Which do you prefer and why?Well, personally, I prefer to read paper books. It is true that one can listen to audio books practically everywhere. You can listen on the bus, or in bed before you fall asleep. However, I still prefer to read book myself since I can get more involved when reading myself. What I am trying to say is that the person who reads the audio book sometimes doesn't tell the story the way that I like. I mean I might not like the tone of their voice, and sometimes I find that I zone out and miss important parts of the book when I listen to audio books.。

托福独立口语冲刺段真题训练

托福独立口语冲刺段真题训练A boss or a manager should not form a closerelationship with their employees.

A boss or a manager should not form a close relationship with their employees.老板应不应该与员工建立密切的关系?I don't think that a close relationship between managers and employees is possible. Managers are inherently on unequal footing with employees. A manager's job is to judge the employees' work and make decisions that could influence their livelihoods. Managers thus need to be objectiveenough to honestly evaluate the employees' work and give direct feedback. If they are friends, their abilityto judge things fairly will be impaired. What's more, this kind of friendship is unhealthy. Unlike friendship, the relationship between managers and employees is not a relationship between equals. The employee's job is at least partially to satisfy the manager's expectations, anticipate what the manager wants from them, and at times suppress what they want in favor of what the manager wants. And who wants to receive critical work-related feedback from someone they were having drinks with last night and dishing about their relationship troubles? So, in my own view, developing a close relationship between managers and employees is not recommended.我不认为经理和员工之间有密切的关系。

2021年托福口语考点模拟试题分析(卷十)

2021年托福口语考点模拟试题分析(卷十)TASK11. The school decided to cancel the long summer vocation. So students have to attend school all year long with some short breaks during holidays. Do you agree or disagree? Please explain the reasons. From my perspective of view, I would definitely disagree with it. There are a couple of reasons to name. To begin with, studying under enormous pressure for consistent periods will drag the feet of study efficiency. Consecutive studying process will put the students in an environment full of inhibition and it will be more likely for them to feel stressed out. Accordingly, the effectiveness and speed of their study will decrease a lot. Moreover, it can’t be a worse idea to study in hot days. Summer is the hottest season all year around and no one will feel like to study in such harsh condition, nor can they concentrate on their study for a long time because their minds are filled with idea that I want to do nothing but stay at home, the cool place. For the above reasons, I disagree with it2. Which of the following people can give the most useful help in your future career direction:1) Teachers2) Families3) FriendsChoose one and explain why.I think parents are the best advisers when choosing our career. Firstly, it is parents who care about us most, and who know us the best, so it is out of question that they would try their best to help us choose right the career path. You know, they want to help us lead a decent life. In addition, we can benefit a lot if we listen to their advice. For example, I work in the bank, which demands a bunch of resources such as social relations and steady financial investment. My parents assist me in choosing this career and they have all the resources I need because they are bankers. In this way, I get promoted much more quickly.3. Some schools offer first year college students optional courses on how to manage time. Describe the advantages and disadvantages for students to take such courses.Well, the benefit of such courses is that students can make a better transition from high school to college. They can develop useful skills such as manage their time properly, taking notes in classes and preparing for exams. However, the drag is that optional courses take too much of students’time. You know, students are overwhelmed with all kinds of assignments like papers, presentations, and even group projects. So, taking optional courses might leave students less time on their major course works and students might lower grade eventually.4. You and your friends both are going to attend final exam, andyour friend who doesn't study hard in the process seeks for your help, what would you do?I’m sure I would try to help, but it would depend on the kind of help she needed. For example, if she just wants to use my notes, that’d be fine. Or I could help her out if she just had a few questions. That being said, I’d have to say “no”to her if she wanted me to basically become her private tutor. I’d feel a little bad because she’s my friend, but I would need to focus on my own exams. I wouldn’t have the time to become a teacher and re-teach her all those classes she missed. After all, it’s herself fault for sleeping through class. How hard can it be to set an alarm?5. Your friend often feels nervous when speaking in front of a large group of people. What suggestions would you give to your friend to overcome this fear? The following suggestions can be useful for someone who has stage fright. First, practice makes perfect. Don’t waste any chance to speak in public. He or she can start with an environment that’s not so intimidatingly, try giving a little talk at a family dinner first. When it’s time, move on to giving a presentation in class. Sooner or later, this person will be able to speaking in front of strangers. Second, be prepared for the speech. This means he or she should take the time write a draft, get the slides in order and rehears at the speech location if possible.6. Describe what you were like when you started attending school.I was six when I started attending school. I was curious about everything, eager to learn. It was quite different from kindergarten, courses began and teachers were serious. It took me some time settling in but basically it was all fun and I never cried like many other kids did especially on Monday mornings. I enjoyed Chinese class mostly, the teacher would encourage us to act out the stories we’ve learned. It was a good experience of learning and also making friends. Because you see we had to cooperate and rehearse, it was more of a game for us rather than just words and textbooks.7. If there is misunderstanding between you and your friend, do you prefer to solve the problem in public places or private places like home?In my opinion, I prefer to remove the misunderstanding with my friend in a public place such as a quiet coffee bar or a nice restaurant. Because firstly, it will shows my sincerity by inviting my friend to a formal place to resolve the problem. We will communicate with each other and even make an apology to each other sincerely. What’s more, public places usually provide us with a better sense of fairness while dealing with the disagreement than a private place like one’s home. Also, the nicer environment in a public place can help us relax and get rid of the misunderstanding and even prejudice between us.8. Do you agree or disagree with the statement that celebrities likemusician, athletes or performers can set good examples for young people?I think some famous people can be good examples for young people. For example, my favorite basket player is Allen Iverson. I have a huge admiration for him because he is such a hard-working guy. According to his coach, Allen was so diligent that he was always the first person arrived for training and the last one to leave. He often spent extra two hours practicing after his teammate left for dinner. So it’s definitely his hard work that made him one of the most famous phenomenal players in the league. His spirit motivates me a lot especially when I felt depressed or had difficulty dealing with my tests.9. Describe an occasion in your country where people give gifts to each other and the kind of gift that's common. An occasion in my country where people give gifts to each other is the Chinese New Year. What we give to each other varies from family to family. In my family, we give each other red packets that contain lucky money. They symbolize good fortune and prosperity. Another tradition in China is that parents would their kids shopping during Chinese New Year. When I was a kid, my mom and dad took me to the mall every Chinese Year to let me choose whatever cloths or toys I wanted.10. Which one of the following qualities do you think a good school should have? Students who like to help each other, knowledgeableteachers or strict rules?I think a good school should definitely have strict rules for the following reasons. My first reason is that strict rules can motivate all kinds of students to work harder because most of the times, students, especially teenagers need a little push in life. For example, when I was in high school, all students in my school were required to arrive at school at 7am to memorize English vocabulary. The school forced everyone to make wise use of the time before the first class of the day officially started. I hated it back then. But when I look back now, I realize that I couldn't have possibly gotten such a good grade in English if my school didn't push me. I probably would have spent my morning sleeping in or procrastinating if my school didn't have such a strict rule. Plus, strict rules can teach students about discipline. Sometimes it's not exactly about the rules themselves, it's the concept of obeying the rules when asked to that matters.Task11. Do you prefer to prepare something a lot of time before deadline or wait until the last minute before deadline? Please give specific reasons and details to support your idea.I would try to start a project as early as possible. Because an early-start leaves us sufficient time and energy to improve and revise, so the quality of the project could be better guaranteed; an early start alsoallows us to follow a systematic plan and enjoy an unhurried schedule. Actually, I used to procrastinate a lot, and a lousy time management only leads to bad consequence. I remember I was once invited to attend a high-level school presentation contest. So many things were distracting me at the time and I waited until the night before the deadline to start writing my speech, and the result was a nightmare. My mind went blank automatically when I was on the stage, which was totally embarrassing.TASK21. Leaving some time for group discussion in class is beneficial for study. Do you agree or not?As far as I am concerned, leaving some time for group discussion in class has much benefit. First of all, it enables us to exchange ideas directly after teacher’s instruction, which helps improve our learning efficiency and producing new ideas during the course of class. If we get confused, we can have someone to ask or discuss with at once. Moreover, when we discuss and argue with our partners, group discussion also provides us a way to reduce negative emotions and improve interpersonal communication skills. Talking with others, exchanging ideas, discussing and even debating has been proved as efficient ways to reduce negative feelings.2. Some college students like to spend their time free time studying another course or doing schoolwork. Others like to join a club and enjoyclub activities. Which do you think is better and why?Well, I'd like to spend my free time joining a club and participating in club activities. Because I think I've already spent enough time on studying during the lectures and seminars. It's not necessary to devote my spare time to learn another subject. Then my life would be pretty boring and tiring. However, joining a club could enrich my university life and fully relax myself. For example, I took part in the singing club in my university, and performing in choir concerts provided me with a lot of beautiful memories. I also made many friends in the club, whom I still contact with after graduation. So I'd prefer to join a club and take part in more activities.3. Some manager likes to closely watch their employees while others prefer to give them more freedom which do you think is more effective.Personally, I think employees should be given more freedom and flexibility. To begin with, they tend to be more creative and innovative when they enjoy a lot of flexibility at work, thus they can come up with new idea, designs and more effective business solutions to their customers and clients. As we can see that if workers enjoy some flexibilities, like flexible working hours, play their own music at work or enjoy other sorts of freedom, they will be more productive. Additionally, research shows that employees who have a relaxing workingenvironment might be more willing to work long hours.4. Do you agree or disagree that to succeed we need to make enemies?I disagree, it’s not necessarily the case. First, there’re many definitions for success. To be successful is to lead a life that you intend to and enjoy, not a life necessarily with a lot of money. Say I feel that my mom is quite successful because she lives a happy life, but she obviously doesn’t have any enemies. And even for the people who are successful in career and with high social status, the effort they’ve spent along the way could be quite legitimate that wouldn’t have induced any serious conflict with others’interests. Surely there must have been competition, but competition is common in any aspect of life which doesn’t always bring out hostile feelings. So basically,I think the statement stands without solid ground.5. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: talking face-to-face in person is a better way to communicate than communicating through emails and by text message?I agree with that talking face-to-face to communicate is a better way to communicate because of following reasons. Firstly, talking face-to-face can avoid misunderstanding. Take myself for example, I sent an email to my colleague to check some of problems occurred in our history project, but she failed to receive it, which almost caused the failure of our project.Secondly, talking face-to-face can strengthen the relationship between you and your co-workers. It is believed that communicating in person help people understand others better.6. With the new technologies, we now have electric books and internet. Someone thinks that someday the library will totally disappear. What is your opinion?I think it is absolutely necessary to have libraries. Firstly, although it is true that electronic books have become increasingly popular, some people still keep the habit of reading paper books. They may find it is easier for them to concentrate or make marks when they are reading. Thus, the library remains a crucial part in readers’life, since it can provide a huge range of choices for book worms. Besides, the library is not only a place for people to read books, but also to do other activities. For example, students always choose to study in the library. Other people may stay in the library, just to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and to find their inner peace.7. Do you agree with the following statement? School should be responsible to teach students moral values. State your opinion and explain why. From my point of view, I do believe it is crucial for schools to have moral value lessons, such as teaching students to be honest. There are two reasons. Firstly, these classes are beneficial to the society. Theessence of education is never solely academic study. As a matter of fact, the most significant part is teaching students how to be a moral person. Only this way, a student can grow up to be a useful man to the whole society. Besides, young adults are usually very vulnerable and easily affected by bad influences. Schools have the responsibility to teach them right and wrong and help them to live a meaningful life ever since.8. Some people prefer to make detailed plans for the future. Others prefer to concentrate on present things and don't make any plans at all. Which way do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.I like to make plans for the future. I want to have the sense that there's something on the horizon, whether it's a class I'm going to take or some location 1 want to travel to. Even if 1 don't have enough money for a vacation right now, just doing the research about place like France makes the idea of visiting it seems exciting. Don't get me wrong. I love living in the moment, but plans are very important, too. They can provide a certain structure and hope, something to look forward to and feel good about.9. Your local community center wants to add some new workshops or programs for children, which of the following do you think would be the most beneficial for children's development?1) Arts craft workshop2) Technology workshop3) Athletic programsAmong all three workshops and programs, I believe that the art craft workshop will be the most influential for children’s development for two reasons. First, it is usually easier for children to cultivate their talent in art at a younger stage since most children are extremely creative when they are little. Such creativity is critical for learning and appreciating art and could gradually decrease as time goes by. Therefore, it is the best to offer such an opportunity to utilize their advantages. Also, it is important to be able to develop their own taste in art. Art is like a language and with it, children will be able to express and perceive emotions in a different way.10. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Teachers should make their lessons fun.I definitely think that teachers should make their lessons fun. The main reason is that if lessons are fun, students will want to learn. When students enjoy their lessons, they are more likely to come to class, talk to their classmates, and do their homework. From my experience as a student, I know this is true. I never used to like studying world history because I always had boring teachers. But a few years ago I had a professor who always delivered creative and fun lessons. I loved studying with him, and so did my classmates, and by the end of the semester we had learned so much.TASK11. 托福口语专项训练试题及答案

托福口语专项训练试题及答案some good news and why(自己写)I’ll tell you a good news of myself. I have just received an offer which tells me that I was accepted to be a student of master of luxury and fashion management in France. It is my dream major which I want to learn. I definitely made a great effort to realize this dream. What’s more, the reasons why this major means a lot to me is because luxury profession talents are very essential to the development of Chinese local luxury industries. So I really wanna contribute my efforts to Chinese local luxury industries.新生是和其它年级混住还是单独一个楼In my opinion, it is better for freshmen living in the same dormitory with students from senior grades. Firstly Living togetheroffers the students from different grades to communicate more often. This is especially helpful for freshmen. If the freshmen have any problem about study, they could simple go upstairs or downstairs asking for help from their predecessor. Secondly, it is very convenient for students to make more friends from different grades. It can enlargetheir personal relationship.同意或不同意students will learn more when they have discussionsI will definitely agree to the statement that students willlearn more when they have discussion. Cuz firstly, we can discuss with each other, with the purpose of expand our scope of knowledge. Of course, the process of cooperation and discussions could develop our sense of team spirit and communication ability. Secondly, through the discussions, you can know others’ problems on subjec ts, these would avoid you the same problems they have faced.Do you agree or disagree: ”The most important lesson can’t be learned in class.”I agree to the statement that the most important lesson cannotbe learned in class. The lesson we have learn in class is some basic knowledge and basic academic skills. What we learn in the society is much more practical and important as well. For example, you will never learn how to deal with the relationship among co-workers in classroom, but it is crucial to manage this kind of relationship if you want to survive in the fierce competition in a company. And this kind of skill could only be taught in the society.Should the university education be free?I don’t agree with the statement about university educati on for free. First of all, although it is a right for every student who needs education to enter into universities no matter he/she is rich or poor but free education can cause tension on teaching resources and available facilities. Without any charge of tuition for college students, universities will suffer a great budget and resources pressure. So under this circumstance, an essential measure should be taken by government such as intensify education funding to meet the demand of universities. Therefore I don’t think it’s wise to make university education for free but it is accessible for university to cut tuition.。

I’ve been to Washington several times, and I like it there. It’s an international city with restaurants and stores where I can buy food and other things from my country while, uh, while I’m living abroad. And Washington is an exciting place. I’ve gone on several tours, but I still have many places on my list of sites to see. Also, urn, there are trains to New York and Florida so I could take advantage of my free time to see other cities. Urn, as for the universities, there are several, uh, several excellent schools in Washington and . . . and I’d probably be accepted at one of them. 涉及知识点:口语2.In Question 2, you will be asked to speak about a personal preference. Other students live in apartments off campus. Which living situation do you think is better and why?Example Notes—Choice and ReasonsDormitories- More interaction—practice English, study- Less responsibility—meals, laundry, cleaning- Better location—library, recreation, classroom buildings正确答案:A lot of my friends live off campus, but I think that living in adormitory is a better situation, uh, especially for the first year at a new college. Dormitories are structured to provide opportunities for interaction and for making friends. As a foreign student, it would be an advantage to be in a dormitory to practice English with other residents and to find study groups in the dormitory. And dorm students have, uh, less responsibility for meals, laundry, and ... and, uh, cleaning because there are meal plans and services available, uh, as part of the fees. This location should provide convenient educational opportunities for students who live closer to the new campus as well as for those students who may choose to live on the west side once the campus is established. The city plan for the next ten years indicates that there will be major growth near the proposed site, including housing and a shopping area. By building a branch campus, some of the crowding on the main campus may be resolved. Now listen to a student who is expressing his opinion about the proposal.I understand that a branch campus on the city’s west side would be convenient for students who live near the proposed site, and it might attract more local students, but I oppose the plan because it will redirect funds from the main campus where several classroom buildings need repair. 2021年托福口语模拟试题及答案(卷五)托福口语必背篇经典文章:睡眠的进化Evolution of sleepSleep is very ancient. In the electroencephalographic sense we share it with all the primates and almost all the other mammals and birds: it may extend back as far as the reptiles. There is some evidence that the two types of sleep, dreaming and dreamless, depend on the life-style of the animal, and that predators are statistically much more likely to dream than prey, which are in turn much more likely to experience dreamless sleep. In dream sleep, the animal is powerfully immobilized and remarkably unresponsive to external stimuli. Dreamless sleep is much shallower, and we have all witnessed cats or dogs cocking their ears to a sound when apparently fast asleep. The fact that deep dream sleep is rare among pray today seems clearly to be a product of natural selection, and it makes sense that today, when sleep is highly evolved, the stupid animals are less frequently immobilized by deep sleep than the smart ones. But why should they sleep deeply at all? Why should a state of such deep immobilization ever have evolved?Perhaps one useful hint about the original function of sleep is to be found in the fact that dolphins and whales and aquatic mammals in genera seem to sleep very little. There is, by and large, no place to hide in the ocean. Could it be that, rather than increasing an animal’s vulnerability, the University of Florida and Ray Meddis of LondonUniversity have suggested this to be the case. It is conceivable that animals who are too stupid to be quite on their own initiative are, during periods of high risk, immobilized by the implacable arm of sleep. The point seems particularly clear for the young of predatory animals. This is an interesting notion and probably at least partly true.托福口语必背篇经典文章:儿童的数学能力children’s numerical skillspeople appear to born to compute. The numerical skills of children develop so early and so inexorably that it is easy to imagine an internal clock of mathematical maturity guiding their growth. Not long after learning to walk and talk, they can set the table with impress accuracy---one knife, one spoon, one fork, for each of the five chairs. Soon they are capable of nothing that they have placed five knives, spoons and forks on the table and, a bit later, that this amounts to fifteen pieces of silverware. Having thus mastered addition, they move on to subtraction. It seems almost reasonable to expect that if a child were secluded on a desert island at birth and retrieved seven years later, he or she could enter a second enter a second-grade mathematics class without any serious problems of intellectual adjustment.Of course, the truth is not so simple. This century, the work of cognitive psychologists has illuminated the subtle forms of daily learning on which intellectual progress depends. Children were observed as theyslowly grasped-----or, as the case might be, bumped into-----concepts that adults take for quantity is unchanged as water pours from a short glass into a tall thin one. Psychologists have since demonstrated that young children, asked to count the pencils in a pile, readily report the number of blue or red pencils, but must be coaxed into finding the total. Such studies have suggested that the rudiments of mathematics are mastered gradually, and with effort. They have also suggested that the very concept of abstract numbers------the idea of a oneness,a twoness, a threeness that applies to any class of objects and is a prerequisite for doing anything more mathematically demanding than setting a table-----is itself far from innate.托福口语必背经典文章:音乐语言The Language of MusicA painter hangs his or her finished pictures on a wall, and everyone can see it. A composer writes a work, but no one can hear it until it is performed. Professional singers and players have great responsibilities, for the composer is utterly dependent on them. A student of music needs as long and as arduous a training to become a performer as a medical student needs to become a doctor. Most training is concerned with technique, for musicians have to have the muscular proficiency of an athlete or a ballet dancer. Singers practice breathing every day, as their vocal chords would be inadequate without controlled muscular support. String players practice moving the fingers of the left hand upand down, while drawing the bow to and fro with the right arm—two entirely different movements.Singers and instruments have to be able to get every note perfectly in tune. Pianists are spared this particular anxiety, for the notes are already there, waiting for them, and it is the piano tuner’s responsibility to tune the instrument for them. But they have their own difficulties; the hammers that hit the string have to be coaxed not to sound like percussion, and each overlapping tone has to sound clear. This problem of getting clear texture is one that confronts student conductors: they have to learn to know every note of the music and how it should sound, and they have to aim at controlling these sound with fanatical but selfless authority.Technique is of no use unless it is combined with musical knowledge and understanding. Great artists are those who are so thoroughly at home in the language of music that they can enjoy performing works written in any century.托福口语必背经典文章:学校教育Schooling and EducationIt is commonly believed in United States that school is where people go to get an education. Nevertheless, it has been said that today children interrupt their education to go to school. The distinction between schooling and education implied by this remark is important.Education is much more open-ended and all-inclusive thanschooling. Education knows no bounds. It can take place anywhere, whether in the shower or in the job, whether in a kitchen or on a tractor. It includes both the formal learning that takes place in schools and the whole universe of informal learning. The agents of education can range from a revered grandparent to the people debating politics on the radio, from a child to a distinguished scientist. Whereas schooling has a certain predictability, education quite often produces surprises. A chance conversation with a stranger may lead a person to discover how little is known of other religions. People are engaged in education from infancy on. Education, then, is a very broad, inclusive term. It is a lifelong process, a process that starts long before the start of school, and one that should be an integral part of one’s entire life.Schooling, on the other hand, is a specific, formalized process, whose general pattern varies little from one setting to the next. Throughout a country, children arrive at school at approximately the same time, take assigned seats, are taught by an adult, use similar textbooks, do homework, take exams, and so on. The slices of reality that are to be learned, whether they are the alphabet or an understanding of the working of government, have usually been limited by the boundaries of the subject being taught. For example, high school students know that there not likely to find out in their classes the truth about political problems in their communities or what the newest filmmakers areexperimenting with. There are definite conditions surrounding the formalized process of schooling.托福口语必背篇经典文章:价格的定义The Definition of “Price”Prices determine how resources are to be used. They are also the means by which products and services that are in limited supply are rationed among buyers. The price system of the United States is a complex network composed of the prices of all the products bought and sold in the economy as well as those of a myriad of services, including labor, professional, transportation, and public-utility services. The interrelationships of all these prices make up the “system”of prices. The price of any particular product or service is linked to a broad, complicated system of prices in which everything seems to depend more or less upon everything else.If one were to ask a group of randomly selected individuals to define “price”, many would reply that price is an amount of money paid by the buyer to the seller of a product or service or, in other words that price is the money values of a product or service as agreed upon in a market transaction. This definition is, of course, valid as far as it goes. For a complete understanding of a price in any particular transaction, much more than the amount of money involved must be known. Both the buyer and the seller should be familiar with not only the money amount, but with the amount and quality of the product or service to beexchanged, the time and place at which the exchange will take place and payment will be made, the form of money to be used, the credit terms and discounts that apply to the transaction, guarantees on the product or service, delivery terms, return privileges, and other factors. In other words, both buyer and seller should be fully aware of all the factors that comprise the total “package”being exchanged for the asked-for amount of money in order that they may evaluate a given price.托福口语必背经典文章:电力ElectricityThe modern age is an age of electricity. People are so used to electric lights, radio, televisions, and telephones that it is hard to imagine what life would be like without them. When there is a power failure, people grope about in flickering candlelight, cars hesitate in the streets because there are no traffic lights to guide them, and food spoils in silent refrigerators.Yet, people began to understand how electricity works only a little more than two centuries ago. Nature has apparently been experimenting in this field for million of years. Scientists are discovering more and more that the living world may hold many interesting secrets of electricity that could benefit humanity. All living cell send out tiny pulses of electricity. As the heart beats, it sends out pulses of record; they form an electrocardiogram, which a doctor can study to determine how well the heart is working. The brain, too, sends out brain waves of electricity, which can be recorded in an electroencephalogram. The electric currents generated by most living cells are extremely small –often so small that sensitive instruments are needed to record them. But in some animals, certain muscle cells have become so specialized as electrical generators that they do not work as muscle cells at all. When large numbers of these cell are linked together, the effects can be astonishing. The electric eel is an amazing storage battery. It can seed a jolt of as much as eight hundred volts of electricity through the water in which it live. ( An electric house current is only one hundred twenty volts.) As many as four-fifths of all the cells in the electric eel’s body are specialized for generating electricity, and the strength of the shock it can deliver corresponds roughly to length of its body.托福口语必背经典文章:戏剧的起源The Beginning of DramaThere are many theories about the beginning of drama in ancient Greece. The on most widely accepted today is based on the assumption that drama evolved from ritual. The argument for this view goes as follows. In the beginning, human beings viewed the natural forces of the world-even the seasonal changes-as unpredictable, and they sought through various means to control these unknown and feared powers. Those measures which appeared to bring the desired results were then retained and repeated until they hardened into fixed rituals. Eventuallystories arose which explained or veiled the mysteries of the rites. As time passed some rituals were abandoned, but the stories, later called myths, persisted and provided material for art and drama. Those who believe that drama evolved out of ritual also argue that those rites contained the seed of theater because music, dance, masks, and costumes were almost always used, Furthermore, a suitable site had to be provided for performances and when the entire community did not participate, a clear division was usually made between the "acting area" and the "auditorium." In addition, there were performers, and, since considerable importance was attached to avoiding mistakes in the enactment of rites, religious leaders usually assumed that task. Wearing masks and costumes, they often impersonated other people, animals, or supernatural beings, and mimed the desired effect-success in hunt or battle, the coming rain, the revival of the Sun-as an actor might. Eventually such dramatic representations were separated from religious activities.Another theory traces the theater's origin from the human interest in storytelling. According to this vies tales (about the hunt, war, or other feats) are gradually elaborated, at first through the use of impersonation, action, and dialogue by a narrator and then through the assumption of each of the roles by a different person. A closely related theory traces theater to those dances that are primarily rhythmical and gymnastic orthat are imitations of animal movements and sounds.托福口语必背篇经典文章:电视TelevisionTelevision-----the most pervasive and persuasive of modern technologies, marked by rapid change and growth-is moving into a new era, an era of extraordinary sophistication and versatility, which promises to reshape our lives and our world. It is an electronic revolution of sorts, made possible by the marriage of television and computer technologies. The word "television", derived from its Greek (tele: distant) and Latin (visio: sight) roots, can literally be interpreted as sight from a distance. Very simply put, it works in this way: through a sophisticated system of electronics, television provides the capability of converting an image (focused on a special photoconductive plate within a camera) into electronic impulses, which can be sent through a wire or cable. These impulses, when fed into a receiver (television set), can then be electronically reconstituted into that same image.Television is more than just an electronic system, however. It is a means of expression, as well as a vehicle for communication, and as such becomes a powerful tool for reaching other human beings. The field of television can be divided into two categories determined by its means of transmission. First, there is broadcast television, which reaches the masses through broad-based airwave transmission of television signals. Second, there is nonbroadcasttelevision, which provides for the needs of individuals or specific interest groups through controlled transmission techniques.Traditionally, television has been a medium of the masses. We are most familiar with broadcast television because it has been with us for about thirty-seven years in a form similar to what exists today. During those years, it has been controlled, for the most part, by the broadcast networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS, who have been the major purveyors of news, information, and entertainment. These giants of broadcasting have actually shaped not only television but our perception of it as well. We have come to look upon the picture tube as a source of entertainment, placing our role in this dynamic medium as the passive viewer.托福口语必背篇经典文章:安德鲁·卡内基Andrew CarnegieAndrew Carnegie, known as the King of Steel, built the steel industry in the United States, and , in the process, became one of the wealthiest men in America. His success resulted in part from his ability to sell the product and in part from his policy of expanding during periods of economic decline, when most of his competitors were reducing their investments.Carnegie believed that individuals should progress through hard work, but he also felt strongly that the wealthy should use their fortunes for the benefit of society. He opposed charity, preferring instead to provide educational opportunities that would allow others to helpthemselves. "He who dies rich, dies disgraced," he often said.Among his more noteworthy contributions to society are those that bear his name, including the Carnegie Institute of Pittsburgh, which has a library, a museum of fine arts, and a museum of national history. He also founded a school of technology that is now part of Carnegie-Mellon University. Other philanthrophic gifts are the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace to promote understanding between nations, the Carnegie Institute of Washington to fund scientific research, and Carnegie Hall to provide a center for the arts.Few Americans have been left untouched by Andrew Carnegie's generosity. His contributions of more than five million dollars established 2,500 libraries in small communities throughout the country and formed the nucleus of the public library system that we all enjoy today.托福口语必背篇经典文章:美国独立战争American Revolution The American Revolution was not a sudden and violent overturning of the political and social framework, such as later occurred in France and Russia, when both were already independent nations. Significant changes were ushered in, but they were not breathtaking. What happened was accelerated evolution rather than outright revolution. During the conflict itself people went on working and praying, marrying and playing. Most of them were not seriously disturbed by the actual fighting, and many of the more isolated communities scarcely knew thata war was on.America's War of Independence heralded the birth of three modern nations. One was Canada, which received its first large influx of English-speaking population from the thousands of loyalists who fled there from the United States. Another was Australia, which became a penal colony now that America was no longer available for prisoners and debtors. The third newcomer-the United States-based itself squarely on republican principles.Yet even the political overturn was not so revolutionary as one might suppose. In some states, notably Connecticut and Rhode Island, the war largely ratified a colonial self-rule already existing. British officials, everywhere ousted, were replaced by a home-grown governing class, which promptly sought a local substitute for king and Parliament.托福口语必背篇经典文章:郊区城市化SuburbanizationIf by "suburb" is meant an urban margin that grows more rapidly than its already developed interior, the process of suburbanization began during the emergence of the industrial city in the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Before that period the city was a small highly compact cluster in which people moved about on foot and goods were conveyed by horse and cart. But the early factories built in the 1840's were located along waterways and near railheads at the edges of cities, and housing was needed for the thousands of people drawn by theprospect of employment. In time, the factories were surrounded by proliferating mill towns of apartments and row houses that abutted the older, main cities. As a defense against this encroachment and to enlarge their tax bases, the cities appropriated their industrial neighbors. In 1854, for example, the city of Philadelphia annexed most of Philadelphia County. Similar municipal maneuvers took place in Chicago and in New York. Indeed, most great cities of the United States achieved such status only by incorporating the communities along their borders. With the acceleration of industrial growth came acute urban crowding and accompanying social stress-conditions that began to approach disastrous proportions when, in 1888, the first commercially successful electric traction line was developed. Within a few years the horse-drawn trolleys were retired and electric streetcar networks crisscrossed and connected every major urban area, fostering a wave of suburbanization that transformed the compact industrial city into a dispersed metropolis. This first phase of mass-scale suburbanization was reinforced by the simultaneous emergence of the urban Middle Class, whose desires for homeownership in neighborhoods far from the aging inner city were satisfied by the developers of single-family housing tracts.托福口语必背篇经典文章:语言的类型Types of SpeechStandard usage includes those words and expressions understood, used, and accepted by a majority of the speakers of a language in any situation regardless of the level of formality. As such, these words and expressions are well defined and listed in standard dictionaries. Colloquialisms, on the other hand, are familiar words and idioms that are understood by almost all speakers of a language and used in informal speech or writing, but not considered appropriate for more formal situations. Almost all idiomatic expressions are colloquial language. Slang, however, refers to words and expressions understood by a large number of speakers but not accepted as good, formal usage by the majority. Colloquial expressions and even slang may be found in standard dictionaries but will be so identified. Both colloquial usage and slang are more common in speech than in writing.Colloquial speech often passes into standard speech. Some slang also passes into standard speech, but other slang expressions enjoy momentary popularity followed by obscurity. In some cases, the majority never accepts certain slang phrases but nevertheless retains them in their collective memories. Every generation seems to require its own set of words to describe familiar objects and events. It has been pointed out by a number of linguists that three cultural conditions are necessary for the creation of a large body of slang expressions. First, the introduction and acceptance of new objects and situations in the society; second, a diverse population with a large number of subgroups; third, associationamong the subgroups and the majority population. Finally, it is worth noting that the terms "standard" "colloquial" and "slang" exist only as abstract labels for scholars who study language. Only a tiny number of the speakers of any language will be aware that they are using colloquial or slang expressions. Most speakers of English will, during appropriate situations, select and use all three types of expressions.托福口语必背篇经典文章:考古学ArchaeologyArchaeology is a source of history, not just a bumble auxiliary discipline. Archaeological data are historical documents in their own right, not mere illustrations to written texts, Just as much as any other historian, an archaeologist studies and tries to reconstitute the process that has created the human world in which we live - and us ourselves in so far as we are each creatures of our age and social environment. Archaeological data are all changes in the material world resulting from human action or, more succinctly, the fossilized results of human behavior. The sum total of these constitutes what may be called the archaeological record. This record exhibits certain peculiarities and deficiencies the consequences of which produce a rather superficial contrast between archaeological history and the more familiar kind based upon written records. Not all human behavior fossilizes. The words I utter and you hear asvibrations in the air are certainly human changes in the material world and may be of great historical significance. Yet they leave no sort of trace in the archaeological records unless they are captured by a dictaphone or written down by a clerk. The movement of troops on the battlefield may "change the course of history," but this is equally ephemeral from the archaeologist's standpoint. What is perhaps worse, most organic materials are perishable. Everything made of wood, hide, wool, linen, grass, hair, and similar materials will decay and vanish in dust in a few years or centuries, save under very exceptional conditions. In a relatively brief period the archaeological record is reduce to mere scraps of stone, bone, glass, metal, and earthenware. Still modern archaeology, by applying appropriate techniques and comparative methods, aided by a few lucky finds from peat-bogs, deserts, and frozen soils, is able to fill up a good deal of the gap.托福口语必背篇经典文章:考古学博物馆MuseumsFrom Boston to Los Angeles, from New York City to Chicago to Dallas, museums are either planning, building, or wrapping up wholesale expansion programs. These programs already have radically altered facades and floor plans or are expected to do so in the not-too-distant future. In New York City alone, six major institutions have spread up and out into the air space and neighborhoods around them or are preparingto do so.The reasons for this confluence of activity are complex, but one factor is a consideration everywhere - space. With collections expanding, with the needs and functions of museums changing, empty space has become a very precious commodity.Probably nowhere in the country is this more true than at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which has needed additional space for decades and which received its last significant facelift ten years ago. Because of the space crunch, the Art Museum has become increasingly cautious in considering acquisitions and donations of art, in some cases passing up opportunities to strengthen its collections.Deaccessing - or selling off - works of art has taken on new importance because of the museum's space problems. And increasingly, curators have been forced to juggle gallery space, rotating one masterpiece into public view while another is sent to storage.Despite the clear need for additional gallery and storage space, however," the museum has no plan, no plan to break out of its envelope in the next fifteen years," according to Philadelphia Museum of Art's president.解释如何便捷:只需要因特网接入和电脑或者平板既可。

2021年托福口语模拟试题及答案(卷一)

2021年托福口语模拟试题及答案(卷一)“The rules that societies expect young people to abide by are too strict.”Discuss.同意或不同意:今天整个社会对年轻人遵循和服从的规则太严格了。

Many young people think that the rules that govern their lives are too strict. I totally disagree with this view. I feel this way for the following reasons.First, compared to our elder generation, we have a lot more freedom. Generally speaking, we can do whatever we want. The fact that most of us can choose our favorite field to major in is just one of many examples. Moreover, due to widespread use of the Internet, we can get full access to whatever information we are interested in.For those who believe the rules are too strict, here’s some more ammunition to support my argument. If there were no such rules to make us behave ourselves, more crimes would be committed and instances of drug abuse and alcoholism would skyrocket. All in all, the young need to be more heavily restricted, not less.许多年轻人认为规则对他们太严格了,但是我完全不同意这种观点,第一,和我们的前辈相比,我们有更多的自由。
