It is a vibrant and energetic color that has deep historical and cultural significance in Chinese society. This articlewill provide an in-depth introduction to Chinese Red, exploring its origins, symbolism, and its impact on various aspects of Chineseculture。

Chinese Red, also known as "China Red" or "Oriental Red," has been a prominent color in Chinese culture for thousands of years.

Should “Stars” Be Dimmed?Shanghai is a poor place for astronomy fans The bright city lights make it almost impossible for them (or anyone) to see stars in the night sky. Instead, the stars they (and “we”) are more likely to watch are the ones that appear on TV screens and in movie theaters. And it’s these stars, the human kind, that one government office wishes to see “dimmed.”The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has issued new rules that would limit the amount of money paid to China’s biggest stars. According to SARFT, the big salaries that stars demand and get mean that others involved in producing movies and TV series, such as the rest of the cast members, the directors, scriptwriters (编剧) and technicians, are paid less and the overall quality of these productions suffer.Whether this is true or not is debatable, but it is true that a star’s big salary is often the largest part of a production’s budget. Joe Austin, who works for a Beijing talent agency, says, “Actors in China are making a ton of money at the moment.” For example, Zhou Xun, who starred in the TV adaptation of Mo Yan’s novel Red Sorghum (《红高粱》), is paid 95 million yuan for each movie. The actress Angelababy gets 80 million yuan for a starring role. Internationally famous Fan Bingbing seems like a bargain at only 30 million yuan. While these salaries may seem sky-high to SARFT, they accurately reflect the market —the law of supply and demand. And show business, after all, is a business. So, in order to ensure the success of a film or TV series, producers want someone who can “op en a picture” —a star whose name and reputation will guarantee a big audience.By limiting star salaries and “dimming” their glitter (光亮), SARFT thinks that producers will spread the money around to the rest of the crew (剧组), and spend more on “production values”—sets (布景), costumes and special effects. Maybe. But not necessarily. Limiting star salaries would probably just mean more money for the producers. A better solution might be to give stars a smaller salary but also a percentage of the profits, in effect making them business partners. This is quite common in Hollywood and sometimes results in stars making much more money.Overall, SARFT shouldn’t be too worried about star salaries. In a market economy, it’s the audience/consumer that really decides a star’s value.教案PRE-READING1. Which of the following stars do you like best? Why?

The stars, often referred to as celestial bodies, have been a source of inspiration for poets and writers throughout history. They have been given various nicknames and poetic epithets in different cultures and literary traditions. Let's explore some of these alternate names and poetic references to stars in ancient poetry. In English literature, stars are often associated with beauty, brightness, and celestial wonders. They are frequently referred to as "heavenly orbs," "jewels of the night," or "diamonds in the sky." These epithets emphasize the brilliance and enchantment that stars bring to the dark expanse of the night sky.One of the most famous poetic references to stars is found in William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. In the iconic balcony scene, Juliet declares, "O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet." Here, Juliet compares Romeo to a star, suggesting that he is her guiding light and source of love and affection. In Chinese poetry, stars are also celebrated for their ethereal beauty and symbolic significance. They are often referred to as "bright pearls" or "heavenly lamps." The Chinese poet Li Bai, also known as Li Po, frequently incorporated star imagery in his works. In one of his famous poems, "Quiet Night Thoughts," he writes, "Bright moonlight shines upon the bed, beside which lies a sleepless man. He gazes up at the clear sky, his heartfilled with longing for his distant home." Li Bai's use of star imagery conveys a sense of longing and nostalgia for home.Another notable Chinese poet, Su Shi, also known as Su Dongpo, often used star metaphors in his poetry. In his poem "Red Cliffs," he writes, "Stars are like dreams, drifting in the vast night sky. The moon shines brightly, casting its reflection on the river's surface." Su Shi'suse of star imagery creates a dreamlike and contemplative atmosphere in his poetry.

There is an old saying: A life without a friend is a life without a sun. But how do you find real friendship and keep it?First, you should choose a good friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or a good look. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints (抱怨) and do his or her best to help you. Second, to make a friend, you can’t be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives. But things can’t always go well. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friends? You have to talk to them. When there is no one around, have an honest talk. If h e or she doesn’t want to talk, you could write a letter. There are three steps to be friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling, say what your friend has done wrong, and tell him or her why you did this or that.Keeping friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed and take care of it to make it grow. So remember friendship is one of the most important things in your life.

My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my favorite Chinese astronaut, Yang Liwei. He's the bravest, coolest guy ever and I really look up to him!Yang Liwei was born in 1965 in Suizhong County, Hunan Province. When he was little, he lived on a farm with his parents and siblings. His family didn't have much money, but Yang Liwei worked really hard in school. He loved studying math and science, and dreamed of becoming a pilot one day. After finishing school, Yang joined the People's Liberation Army Air Force in 1983. He trained extremely hard and became an excellent fighter pilot. In 1998, the Chinese government picked him to be part of the crewed spaceflight program. Out ofthousands of applicants, only 14 were chosen to train as astronauts! The training to become an astronaut was incredibly difficult. Yang and the other astronaut candidates had to study everything about spacecraft systems, spacewalking, dealing with emergencies, and so much more. They also had to exercise for hours every day to get super fit and strong. Yang pushed himself to the absolute limit. Finally, after years of brutal training, Yang Liwei was selected to be the first Chinese astronaut to go into space! On October 15, 2003, the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Inner Mongolia. Yang was the sole crew member on this historic mission.During his 21-hour journey in space, Yang orbited the Earth 14 times. He conducted all kinds of experiments and tests, while closely monitored by teams on the ground. At one point there was a period of radio blackout where they lost contact with him, which must have been really scary! But Yang stayed calm and focused the whole time. When the Shenzhou 5 returned safely to Earth, Yang received a hero's welcome. People all across China celebrated his amazing achievement as the first Chinese astronaut in space. Thegovernment awarded him many honors and medals. What an inspiration!Since then, Yang has gone on to have an incredible career as an astronaut. He has spent over 200 hours in space during two spaceflights, the second one being a two-week mission on the Tiangong-1 space station. No other Chinese astronaut has spent more time in space than Yang Liwei. Not only is Yang a space hero, but he's also a wonderful person. He works hard to encourage young people in China to study science, technology, engineering and math. Whenever he can, he visits schools and talks to students about his experiences. His dream is to inspire the next generation of astronauts and space explorers. That's why Yang Liwei is my favorite Chinese astronaut. He came from a poor family but never gave up on his dream of flying. Through his courage, determination and brilliance, he became a pioneer - the first Chinese "taikonaut" to travel into space. Yang showed the whole world that China can accomplish incredible things in space exploration.Someday, I hope to become an astronaut just like Yang Liwei.I want to keep studying really hard, especially in subjects like physics and calculus. Maybe I'll even get the chance to walk inspace or travel to the Moon! No matter how difficult it seems, I'll never forget Yang's example of perseverance and pursuing your passion. The sky is not the limit when you believe in yourself.Yang is still active with the Chinese space program today at the age of 58. I can't wait to see what other amazing accomplishments he achieves. China's space program is going to accomplish so many "firsts" in the years ahead, like landing on the Moon and maybe even Mars one day. And it's all thanks to trailblazers like Yang Liwei who started this journey.Heroes like Yang prove that Chinese people can shine just as brightly as anyone else in the realm of space exploration. We are a nation of dreamers and doers, not afraid of any frontiers. As long as we keep working hard and reaching for the stars, there's no limit to what we can achieve!篇3My Hero: The Brave Chinese Astronaut Yang LiweiHave you ever gazed up at the night sky and wondered what it would be like to soar among the twinkling stars? Well, my hero is someone who has done just that – he's an incredibly brave Chinese astronaut named Yang Liwei!Yang Liwei was born on June 21, 1965 in Suizhong County, Hunan Province. Growing up on a farm, he loved watching airplanes fly overhead and dreamed of becoming a pilot himself one day. Yang worked very hard in school, especially in subjects like math and science. In 1983, his dream came true when he was accepted into the People's Liberation Army Air Force Aviation University to train as a pilot. After years of tough training, Yang became an accomplished fighter pilot and was selected for the Chinese astronaut program in 1998. Only the best pilots with the strongest minds and bodies were chosen for this incredible opportunity. Yang had to go through even more intense training to learn how to live and work in the harsh environment of space. Finally, on October 15, 2003, at 9:00 am Beijing time, Yang Liwei's historic mission began. The Shenzhou 5 spacecraft successfully launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert, carrying the first Chinese astronaut into orbit! For the next 21 hours, Yang traveled more than 300,000 miles around the Earth at over 17,000 mph. He was the 254th person in history to enter outer space.During his flight, Yang had to adapt to the strange sensation of weightlessness. He conducted experiments, took photographs, and even spoke to Chinese leaders back on Earth using a video phone! At one point, Yang got a nosebleed, which could have been very dangerous in space. But he stayed calm and took care of the problem calmly and professionally. After orbiting the Earth 14 times, the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft safely parachuted down to the grasslands of Inner Mongolia at 6:23 am on October 16th. Yang had made history as China's first astronaut in space! When he emerged from the capsule, Yang saluted, saluted, and shouted "I feel good!" He looked tired but triumphant after his incredible journey. The whole nation celebrated his pioneering mission into space as a Chinese hero.Since then, Yang has participated in many more space program activities and has met with students across China to share his amazing experiences. He was given many prestigious awards and honors, including being named a "Space Flight Meritorious Pilot" by the International Aeronautical Federation. To me, Yang Liwei is a hero because he had the courage to risk everything and venture into the unknown frontier of space. It took incredible bravery, years of intense training, and an unwavering commitment to his dream. Yang's historic mission inspired so many people in China, especially young students likeme who hope to someday work in the space program themselves. They inspire me to study and work hard too! Moreover, Chinese astronauts are great team players. When they go to space, they work together with other astronauts from different countries. They have to communicate and cooperatewith each other to complete their missions successfully. Teamwork is very important in space exploration because they have to rely on each other for support. It's amazing how they can work together with people from all over the world! In addition to their bravery, intelligence, and teamwork, Chinese astronauts also contribute to scientific discoveries. They conduct experiments in space to learn more about the effects of zero gravity on the human body and to study the Earth and outer space. Their research helps scientists on Earth to understand more about our planet and the universe. They are true heroes of science!Lastly, Chinese astronauts are great role models. They show us that with determination and hard work, we can achieve our dreams. They inspire me to believe in myself and reach for the stars.
