U8-《英语1基础模块》教学设计方案-6课时

Unit 8 People and Event教学设计(一)第一、第二课时 Listening and Speaking一、教材分析本课教学内容选自高等教育出版社出版的“十四五”职业教育国家规划教材(中等职业学校公共基础课程教材),《英语1 基础模块》中第八单元的热身(Warming Up)和听说(Listening and Speaking)板块,要求学生能交流关于重要人物与事件的看法,同时在交谈中获取重要人物与事件的相关信息,并能谈论最喜欢的事物。

?•I like … best.• Why do you like it most?•Is it also your favorite … ?•I can do a lot of things with it, such as …•I can’t live without …• They have changed our life a lot.• I hope someday I can ...五、教学过程Step 1 Warming Up1. Look and match处理教材活动1,可分两步:(1)和学生一起讨论以下两个问题○1 Who do you think is famous or important?○2 Why do you think he or she is famous or important? What achievements has he or she made?引导学生说出一些重点动词,如hold, produce, design, improve等,并板书在黑板上,带读。

Question: What else can you do to build a better community? Answers:set up a community center/raise money for charity work/help the unemployed to get jobs/design a community app to share information …Step2Read these expressions after the teacher.1.Pre-listeningSupplementary materials1.Background informationHigh School Graduation and Community WorkSome educational jurisdictions in the United States require students to perform community service hours to graduate from high school. In some high schools in Washington, for example, students must finish 200 hours of community service to get a diploma. Some school districts in Washington, including Seattle Public Schools, differentiate between community service and "service learning," requiring students to demonstrate that their work has contributed to their education. If a student in high school is taking an AVID course, community service is often needed. Many other high schools do not require community service hours for graduation, but still see an impressive number of students get involved in their community. For example, in Palo Alto, California, students at Palo Alto High School log about 45,000 hours of community service every year. As a result, the school's College and Career Center awards about 250–300 students the President's Volunteer Service Award every year for their hard work.2.Words1)campaign: a series of planned activities that are intended to achieve aparticular social, commercial or political aime.g. Today police launched a campaign to reduce road accidents.2)succeed:to achieve sth. that you have been trying to do or get; to have theresult or effect that was intendede.g.: He succeeded in getting a place at art school. Our plan succeeded.3)awesome: (North American English, informal) very good, enjoyable, etce.g.:I just bought this awesome new CD!That new white convertible is totally awesome.eful expressions1) Let’s plant more trees and flowers for a greener community.2) We can help people in need by donating food to them.3) Our community has started a campaign to ask people to smoke less.4) Let’s submit it to our community centre and sign up for the campaign.Supplementary materials1.Background informationCourt Ordered ServicePeople convicted of crimes may be required to perform community services or to work for agencies in the sentencing jurisdiction either entirely or partially as a substitution of other judicial remedies and sanctions, such as incarceration or fines. For instance, a fine may be reduced in exchange for aprescribed number of hours of community service. The court may allow the convict to choose their community service, which must then be documented by "credible agencies", such as non-profit organizations, or may mandate a specific service.Sometimes the sentencing is specifically targeted to the convict's crime, for example, a litterer may have to clean a park or roadside, or a drunk driver might appear before school groups to explain why drunk driving is a crime. Also, a sentence allowing for a broader choice may prohibit certain services that the offender would reasonably be expected to perform anyway;for example, a convicted lawyer might be specifically prohibited from counting pro bono legal service.2.Words1) regularly: at regular intervals or times/oftene.g. We meet regularly to discuss the progress of the project.I go there quite regularly.2) advice: an opinion or a suggestion about what sb. should do in a particularsituatione.g. They give advice for people with HIV and AIDS.Let me give you a piece of advice.3)poster: a large notice, often with a picture on it, that is put in a publicplace to advertise sth.e.g. The poster only stayed up a few hours, before it was stolen. There is a poster about the pop festival.3. Background informationPersonal Benefits of ServingCommunity service also allows those participating to reflect on the difference they are making in society. Some participants of a community service project mayfind themselves gaining a greater understanding of their roles in the community, as well as the impact of their contributions towards those in need of service. Because community service outlets vary, those who serve are exposed to many different kinds of people, environments, and situations. With each new community service project, some participants may gain insightful experience in a variety of areas. Participants may also internalize the information that they found personally insightful for future use. While simply performing community service is valuable to the recipients, those serving often find it beneficial to pause and reflect on how they are changing society for the better. Schools often take students on community service projects in order for them to gain a greater understanding of how their individual actions affect the wellbeing of the public. Participants may find that the giving of themselves to the public good may result in a more solidified view of self and purpose.2.Words1) benefit: an advantage that sth. gives you; a helpful and useful effect that sth. hase.g. I've had the benefit of a good education. The new regulations will be of benefit to everyone concerned.2) perform: to do sth., such as a piece of work, task or dutye.g. She performs an important role in our organization. This operation has never been performed in this country.3)various: several differente.g. She took the job for various reasons. There are various ways of doing this.4) require: to need sth.; to depend on sb./sth.e.g. True marriage requires us to show trust and loyalty. The rules also require employers to provide safety training.5) graduation: the act of successfully completing a university degree, or studies at an American high schoole.g. It was my first job after graduation. They asked what his plans were after graduation.6) get involved in: to make sb. take part in sth.e.g. I don't want to get involved in a swindle.7) litter: to leave things in a place, making it look untidye.g. He was arrested for littering. The floor was littered with papers.8) clean up: put (things or places) in ordere.g. Mama made him clean up the plate.9) appear: to start to be seene.g. A bus appeared around the corner.Smoke appeared on the horizon.10)collection:an act of taking sth. away from a place; an act of bringing things together into one placee.g. The first stage in research is data collection. The last collection from this postbox is at 5:15.11)organize: to arrange for sth. to happen or to be providede.g. I'll invite people if you can organize food and drinks. In the end, we all decided to organize a concert for Easter.12)accordingly:in a way that is appropriate to what has been done or said in a particular situatione.g. We have to discover his plans and act accordingly. It is a difficult job and they should be paid accordingly.13)help out: to help sb., especially in a difficult situatione.g. He's always willing to help out. When I bought the house, my sister helped me out with a loan.3.
