北京英语作文评分标准及评分细则Beijing English Composition Scoring Criteria and Scoring DetailsHi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grade student in Beijing. Today I want to talk to you about how English compositions are scored here. It's really important to understand the scoring criteria and details so you can do your best on these assignments.First off, what even is an English composition? It's a piece of writing we have to do for school where we write a few paragraphs in English about a certain topic or prompt the teacher gives us. The compositions let our teachers see how well we can write and express ourselves in English. In Beijing, all our English compositions get scored based on the same big criteria - there are five main things the teachers look at. Those five criteria are: 1) Task Completion, 2) Coherence, 3) Lexical Resource, 4) Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and 5) Mechanics. Each one gets a separate score from 1 to 5.Task Completion is about how well you did the assignment and responded to the prompt. If you went totally off-topic and wrote something completely different than what you weresupposed to, you'll get a low score for Task Completion. But if you really understood the prompt and your writing responded to it fully, you'll get a high score.Coherence looks at whether your writing flows logically and is easy to follow and understand. You need to use good transitions and connecting words like "first," "next," "in addition," etc. The ideas should link together smoothly instead of jumping around randomly. Having a clear intro, body and conclusion helps too.Lexical Resource means using lots of advanced vocabulary words instead of just simple words a little kid would use. The more impressive and higher-level words you include, the better your lexical resource score will be. But don't just randomly throw in big words you don't understand - that's not good! For Grammatical Range and Accuracy, this portion of the score looks at your English grammar skills. If you make a ton of basic grammar mistakes with things like subject-verb agreement, tenses, prepositions, articles, etc. your score will be low. But if you can use advanced grammar constructions like perfect tenses, passive voice, conditionals, and more complex sentences correctly, you'll earn a higher score. Finally, Mechanics refers to things like spelling, punctuation, capitalization, formatting and general writing conventions. Make sure you spell words correctly, use appropriate end punctuation, capitalize proper nouns, have indented paragraphs, and so on. Silly little mechanical errors can lose you points. Each of those five criteria gets a rating from 1 to 5, where 5 is the best score. So the highest total score you can get on a composition is 25 out of 25 - a perfect 5 in all five areas. In general, a total score of 20+ is considered excellent, 15-19 is good, 10-14 is okay, and below 10 needs more work. There are also some more specific details and guidelines for each score level that teachers use. For example, to get a 5 for Task Completion, your response has to be "fullyaddressed and highlyrelevant to the task." A 4 means it's "addressedand relevantto thetask," while a 3 is "somewhataddressedand/orrelevanttothetask." And so on down to a 1 which means "responsesaresnothin relevanttothetask."For Coherence, a top score of 5 requires your writing to have "excellentunityandfullycohesive form" with "sophisticated connections" between ideas. I'm not totally sure what that means yet since I'm still learning, but it sounds really advanced! With Lexical Resource, a 5 is for using "awide range of vocabulary" with "rarelymistakes" andusing "idiomatic language" which means like common expressions native speakers would say. But a 1 is having just"averynarrowlexicon" ofwords and "forcedtranslationsfromnative language."I think you get the idea - there are specific criteria distinguishing each score level from 1 to 5 for all the categories. It can feel。
