江苏徐州市2016高考英语阅读理解二轮基础选练(3)及答案【山东省2014仿真模拟冲刺卷】阅读理解My sister Jodie and I are always traveling for work.As jewelry designers, we need to go to a lot of shows. We can’t pack lightly and usually bring about four suitcases filled with our work. Most of our stuff is made from heavy materials and metals. So part of the routine for us when we fly is getting stopped by security. Our jewelry sets off the alarms, and we’ve become accustomed to arriving early to go through private screenings. Most of the time, it’s not troublesome. However, on our recent trip to a Paris trade show, we were stopped at security and asked to empty our bags. One of the agents walked over to another agent and they started whispering to each other. Both gentlemen came back, and one of them then told us that it seemed that we were carrying a very dangerous object. My sister and I just said, “Huh?” Of course, we were a little concerned, thinking that maybe someone put something dangerous in one of our bags when we weren’t looking. One of the agents then started to unpack our bags.I kept asking what he was looking for and then the object in question finally appeared. It was our Cosima necklace. It’s a piece of jewelry, with large, metal triangular spikes. My sister and I looked at each other and breathed a huge sigh of relief. We started laughing and explained to the two male agents that it was just a necklace from our collection, not a weapon of mass destruction. They thought we were lying, and one agent kept repeatingthat he believed it was a weapon.I tried to explain that we were jewelry designers going to a trade show, and this was simply a piece from our collection. But the agents didn’t buy it.Then a few women guards came over to assist. One of the women guards was holding an earring up to her ear and another was trying on a ring.Apparently, they liked our stuff. It was only at this point that the male guards gave up.And I think they also got tired of listening to a bunch of women talk about jewelry. They let us through. We took the names of the women agents and sent them a piece of jewelry when we got back to say thanks.61.When the object in question finally appeared, the writer and her sister felt _______.A.anxious B.relieved C.excitedD.frightened62.The writer and her sister were stopped by the agents because________.A.their suitcases were too heavyB.the agents wanted to play a joke on themC.they were suspected to carry dangerous objectsD.the agents wanted to admire the jewelry inside the suitcases 63.The underlined word “buy” in Paragraph 7 probably means________.A.doubt B.believe C.purchase D.understand64.The writer sent the women agents a piece of jewelry in order to________.A.persuade them to buy her jewelry laterB.get help from them next timeC.show them her talent in designing jewelryD.show them her gratitude for their assistance65.According to this passage, which of the following statements is NOT true?A.Someone put something dangerous in one of the writer’s bags.B.The male agents didn’t belie ve the writer at first.C.The female agents liked the jewelry.D.The writer is always travelling on business.【参考答案】61—65 BCBDA2016高考英语阅读理解--人生百味类At times my mom has been uncomfortable seeing these qualities in me. For example, when I was 12,I went to Puerto Rico all by myself to stay with my grandmother for the summer. My mom was extremely nervous about it. She kept telling me how things were different in Puerto Rico,to always put on sunscreen, not to wander away from my grandmother, and other warnings. She helped me pack and did not leave the airport until she saw my plane take off.But despite her worries, she let me go on my own. As I moved intomy teens, she continued to give me space to grow and learn, even when it might have been difficult for her. When I reached my senior year,I decided to move away for college. Once again I found that I differed from my peers:While many of them wanted to stay close to home,I couldn’t wait to be out in the world on my own. While my mom may not have been happy at the thought of my going away, she was supportive and excited for me.One big thing I realized during my senior year,as my mom granted me more freedom, was that she actually believes in me and trusts me. That means a lot. Most of my life, and especially when I was little, the main person I tried to impress in my schoolwork or other things was my mother. I knew she expected nothing but the best from me. Sometimes it was hard to live up to her standards;getting a single B on my report card would make me feel ba d because I knew she wanted me to have all A’s.I know that her high standards have helped me stay focused on what’s important, like education, and made me who I am. I am thankful for her support and involvement in my life .Most of all I respect her. She is the strongest woman I know and that’s why I have turned out so strong and independent.【小题1】When the author decided to go to Puerto Rico,hismother________.A.wanted to go with himB.worried about his safetyC.didn’t allow him to do soD.asked his grandmother for advice【小题2】The author decided to move away for college to________. Let’s face it.Thinking our life is good enough doesn’t come naturally to many people. When we have high expectations of everything in life we will run into disappointment.Only when we are aware that needs are different from desires can we live with satisfaction. Here are a few ideas to help you be happier with what you have and who you are.Focus on what you are thankful for. Most people want things to be better than they are, or when things are going well, we forget to appreciate what we have.Learn to reflect on how much better things are than they could be.Focus on what you are thankful for.Write down 5 things you are grateful for right now. When we hold onto regrets from decisions we have made, it can really poison our well-being.Many people regret something they can no longer change, which ends up holding them back from moving forward in a more positive manner. What happened in the past is done and gone, so work to stay present and be mindful of the current moment to find morejoy and fulfillment. When we use other people as the measuring stick for our personal success and quality of life we are likely to be less satisfied.Social comparisons can provide useful information when we try to learn from others, but they also hold our perspective in a discontented position.Compare yourself less with others so you can be satisfied more. When you are focused on your big ambitions and future goals you might elide the daily pleasures that surround you.Learn to slow down and absorb the wonder and beauty around you.Stay present and focus on the task you’re undertaking at the moment.Don’t let the life pass you by because you’re always on the go and distracted by ambition.Practice looking at life through the lens of contentment and it will become more natural.【小题1】How can we live with contentment?A.To change our lifestyle.B.To have a motivation in life.C.To give less attention to what we are grateful for.D.To realize the difference between needs and desires.【小题2】What’s the main idea of Paragraph 3?A.Make wise decisionsB.Know the present situationC.Let go of regretsD.Remember the past【小题3】The underlined word “elide”(in Paragraph 5) probably means “______”.A.enjoy B.change C.create D.neglect【小题4】What should you do to put yourself in a good mood? 手惰市安逸阳光实验学校高考英语二轮专题复习精品阅读理解部分之限时训练(四)阅读理解A breathtaking trick potentially left over from our ancestors might be found in us — the ability to sense oxygen through our skin. Amphibians(两栖动物), animals such as frogs that can live both on land and in water, have long been known to be capable of breathing through their skin. In fact, the first known lungless frog that breathes only through its skin was discovered recently in the rivers of Borneo. Now the same oxygen sensors found in frog skins and in the lungs of mammals have unexpectedly been discovered in the skin of mice.“No one had ever looked,” explained Randall Johnson, a biologist researcher.Mice and frogs are quite distant relatives, so the fact they have these molecules (分子) in common in their skin suggests they might well be found in the skin of other mammals, such as humans.“We have no reason to think that they are not in the skin of people too,” Johnson said. These molecules not only detect oxygen, but help increase levels of vital red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body. Normal mice breathing in air that is 10 percent oxygen—a dangerously low level similar to conditions at the top of Mount Everest, and about half that of air at sea level. However, mice that had the oxygen sensor HIF-1 a genetically removed from their skin failed to produce this hormone (荷尔蒙) even after hours of such low oxygen. These findings, if they hold true in humans, suggest one could raise the level of oxygen circulating inside the body. This could help treat lung diseases and disorders such as anemia (贫血症) without injecting drugs, which make up a multibillion-dollar market, Johnson said.Athletes also often try to get more oxygen delivered to their muscles in order to improve their performance. They often do this by training at high altitudes or in low-oxygen tents. The new study suggests they might want to expose their skin as well as breathing in low-oxygen air to improve their performance. “It’s hard to say what exactly might be done, however—there’s a lot we don’t know yet,” Johnson explained. The scientists detailed their findings in the April 18 issue of the journal Cell.64. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?A. Johnson believes that oxygen sensors also exist in human skin.B. People have to surf the Internet to read detailed findings.C. It has been proved that these findings help treat lung diseasesD. It has long been expected oxygen sensors exist in mice’s skin.65. One of the functions of the molecules mentioned above is _______.A. carrying oxygen around the bodyB.improving athletes’ performanceC. detectingoxygenD. increasing level of oxygen66. What is Johnson’s attitude to the application of the findings to the athletes’ training?A. NegativeB. DoubtingC.Positive D. Hesitating67. The best title of the passage may be _______.A. Great Findings Benefit Athletes A LotB. Frogs And Mice Are Distant RelativesC. First Known Animal Breathes Through SkinD. People still move for these reasons, but new reasons for human migration are arising, such as job relocation(重新安置) and overpopulation. Three million migrants are moving from poor countries to wealthier ones each year, and increasingly, their destination is a neighboring country in developing parts of the world. People are moving within the developing world for the same reasons as they migrate to wealthier nations. People from poor countries are going to less poor countries, fleeing wars and conflicts. They are also responding to population pressures because some countries are densely populated, and they often have high population growth. Those people need to go somewhere else. There are three main reasons why people move. The basic categories and percentages are as follows, according to the Current Population Surveys (CPS):Family-related reasons account for 26.3%, including changes in marital (婚姻的) status, establishing a household and other family reasons; work-related reasons 16.2%, including job transfer, retirement, and other job-related reasons; housing-related reasons 51.6%, including new and better houses, better neighborhood, cheaper housing and other housing reasons; the remaining 5.9% of other reasons are attending college, the change of climate and health reasons.Americans have been migrating south and west for decades in search of better job opportunities and warmer climates. They have also been moving to places a little far from cities, in search of bigger yards and houses, lower crime rates and better schools. In 1950, nearly a fifth of the population lived in the nation’s 20 largest cities. In 2006, it was about one in ten. That’s why many American people say, “Big Cities Shrink as People Move South, West.”Between March 2005 and March 2007, 73.4 million Americans moved. Fifty-six percent of these moves were within the same country. Twenty percent were between counties but in the same state. Nineteen percent were moves to a different state. Some families even went abroad. Title: People on the For many people, volunteering is a way of life.Holidays are the time of the year that more people are in a giving mood.Homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, and nursing homes are excellent places to give of one’s time.Volunteering in Homeless SheltersThere is a homeless directory online that anyone can easily access to find the closest homeless shelter to their home.According to the homeless shelter directory, currently there are 3,233 shelters in the US,so it is not difficult to find a shelter.Helping to serve food, picking up donations of food, preparing meals, and cleaning up are things that one can do to help at a homeless shelter.Volunteering in Children’s HospitalsEvery child needs comfort and joy, especially during the holiday seasons.By visiting sick children in hospitals,an individual provides helping hands by supplementing the services usually done by the hospital staff.Personalizing the hospital experience adds to the comfort and happiness of the children and their families.Volunteers provide help, and positive interactions (相互交流) which enhance the patient’s quality of care.Help is needed almost everywhere in a hospital;from the lobby, parking lot, cafeteria,to admitting, helping with the gift cart, and even reading to children in the waiting rooms or their hospital rooms. Volunteering in Nursing HomesAccording to the National Center for Health Statistics,“Over 50% of those living in nursing homes do not have close relatives and 46% have n o living children.” Life in a nursing home is lonely, confusing, and frightening for many residents.Volunteering at a nursing home is a great opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life.Playing cards, sitting with and talking to a resident, taking a walk,or sharing a meal makes a huge difference, especially when they have no other sole on earth to visit them. The three examples above are only a small fraction of institutions in which volunteers are needed.Giving of oneself, especially during the holidays blesses and cheers others.【语篇解读】本文介绍了人们在假期中可以选择去做志愿活动的三个地方。

2016高考英语二轮阅读理解练习(1)及答案2016高考英语阅读理解--日常生活类Papa’s Straw HatPapa was a ranger. He worked with horses. He always wore clean clothes with a hat even when he worked. His hat was always the same kind of a cowboy hat- large black hat of heavy wool. He wore his hat full and high. I think he wanted to look taller than he really was.Mama was proud of the way he looked when he wore his hat and his best clothes. But in some way she got the idea that papa would lose his hair if he kept wearing a heavy wool cowboy hat in the hot weather. She began to talk about his hats.“Papa,” she said one day, “why don't you get a nice cool straw hat? That heavy wool cowboy hat may cause losing hair!” Papa laughed at her and explained that the horses wouldn’t recognize him if he changed the hat. But she didn’t believe him.Mama talked and talked about the hat all summer long. At last papa answered, a little angry, “It would not the cowboy hat but a wife’s talking about the hat that makes me lose my hair.”Mama had a very serious look on her face. She went straight out and later came home with a straw hat. It was a bad year for ranger and we didn't have much money. She thought that if she spent the money for a straw hat, papa would wear it. When papa saw the hat, his face got red. Without a word, he pulled the straw hat down over his head until it hid his eyes and went on to train the horses. He was a good ranger and gentle to his horses. But as papa got close to the horses this time, they jumped high into the air, raising their front feet. All of them ran around in the rounded field and then raced toward the barn. Papa began to shout “Woo boys. Steady boys, steady.” But there was nothing equal to.Papa walked back straight to the stove in the kitchen, pushed the straw hat deep downinto the fire then turned to mama, in a way that even frightened me. “Now listen to me, mama. Understand this I will never wear a straw hat or any other kind of hat my horses do not like.” Then he put on his wool cowboy hat and walked out of the house.I never heard mama talk any more about hats. Perhaps, that is why when papa died many years later, there was a round spot on the top of his head where there was no hair.【小题1】According to the passage, a ranger is _______.A.a person wearing a woolen hatB.a position requiring clean clothesC.a person training horses for some purposeD.a person riding a carriage with horses【小题2】Mama bought papa a straw hat because _______.A.most cowboys preferred to wear itB.she was worried about his healthC.a woolen one didn’t suit papaD.it was cheap and she could save money【小题3】What quality can we learn from papa?A.Gentle.

What is the text mainly about?/What is the main idea of the text/ the second paragraph?;另一种命题方式是提炼文章的标题,其提问方式一般是:What can be the best title for the text?

如:(2013安徽卷B篇)Using too much water or throwing rubbish into our rivers are clear ways that humans can put our water supply in danger, but we also affect our water supply in less obvious ways. You may wonder how paving (铺砌) a road can lead to less useable fresh water.A major part of the water we use every day is groundwater. Groundwater does not come from lakes or rivers. It comes from underground. The more roads and parking lots we pave, the less water can flow into the ground to become groundwater.63. The text is mainly about ______.A. why paving roads reduces our waterB. how much we depend on water to liveC. why droughts occur more in dry climatesD. how human activity affects our water supply解析:文章主要介绍了由于一些不合理的人类活动,导致了水资源的短缺,呼吁大家从我做起,从小事做起来保护水资源。

An Extension of the Human BrainOther people can help us compensate for our mental and emotional deficiencies (⽋缺), much as a wooden leg can compensate for a physical deficiency. To be exact, other people can extend our intelligence and help us understand and adjust our emotions. When another person helps us in such ways, he or she is participating in what I’ve called a “social prosthetic (义肢的) system.” Such systems do not need to operate face-to-face, and it’s clear to me that the Internet is expanding the range of my own social prosthetic systems. It’s already a big bank of many minds. Even in its current state, the Internet has extended my memory and judgment.Regarding memory: Once I look up something on the Internet, I don’t need to keep all the details for future use — I know where to find that information again and can quickly and easily do so. More generally, the Internet functions as if it were my memory. This function of the Internet is particularly striking when I’m writing; I’m no longer comfortable writing if I’m not connected to the Internet. It’s bec ome natural to check facts as I write, taking a minute or two to dip into PubMed, Wikipedia, or other websites.Regarding judgment: The Internet has made me smarter in matters small andlarge. For example, when I’m writing a textbook, it has become second nature to check a dozen definitions of a key term, which helps me dig into the core and understand its meaning. But more than that, I now regularly compare my views with those of many others. If I have a “new idea,” I now quickly look to see whether somebody else has already thought of it, or something similar — and I then compare what I think with what others have thought. This certainly makes my own views clearer. Moreover, I can find out whether my reactions to an event are reasonable enough by reading about those of others on the Internet. These effects of the Internet have become even more striking since I’ve begun using a smartphone. I now regularly pull out my phone to check a fact, watch a video, read weibo. Such activities fill the spaces that used to be dead time (such as waiting for somebody to arrive for a lunch meeting). But that’s the upside (好处). The downside is that in those dead periods I often would let my thoughts flow and sometimes would have an unexpected insight or idea. Those opportunities are now fewer and farther between.答案2016年江苏⾼考英语任务型阅读:71. A person who is physically fit will be able to walk or run without getting breathless and he or she will be able to carry out the activities of everyday living and will not need help. How much each person can do will depend on their age and whether they are a man or woman. A physically fit person usually has a normal weight for height. The relation between height and weight is called the Body Mass Index. A taller person can be heavier and still be fit. However, now they are becoming an extended period of adolescence, during which many of today's students are not shouldered with adult responsibilities。

For previous generations, college was a decisive break from parental control; guidance and support needed to come from people of the same age and from within。

In the past two decades, however, continued connection with and dependence on family, thanks to cellphones, email and social media, have increased significantly。

Some parents go so far as to help with coursework. Instead of promoting the idea of college as a passage from the shelter of the family to autonomy and adult responsibility, universities have given in to the idea that they should provide the same environment as that of the home。

A new planet-hunting technique has detected the most earth-like planet yet around a star other than our sun, raising hopes of finding a space rock that might support life, astronomers (天文学家) reported recently.“This is an important discovery to answer the question ‘Are we alone?’” said Michael Turner of the National Science Foundation.“The team has discovered the most earth-like planet yet, and more importantly, has proved the power of a new technique that is sensitive (灵敏的) to detecting planets that are fit for people to live on,” Turner said in a statement. In the last decade, astronomers have detected more than 160 planets moving around stars outside our solar system. Most of these have been gas giant planets like Jupiter, which are unfit for life. But an international team has detected a cold planet about 5.5 times more massive than the earth — still small enough to be considered earth-like —moving around a star about 20,000 light years away, close to the center of the Milky Way.To find this new planet, the team used a technique called gravitational microlensing (引力微观透镜法). When a planet is circling the closest star, the planet’s gravity can add its own signature to the light. This kind of light signature was observed on July 11 by a group of telescopes in a project known as OGLE, short for Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment.“The main advantage of microlensing is the signals for low-mass planets: They’re not weak signals. They’re just rare,” Bennett of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana said by telephone. “If there happens to be a straight line between a foreground star with its planet and the background source star, then you’re able to detect that planet.”1. 专题6阅读理解Ⅳ:词义猜测题1. 【2017·新课标全国I】CSome of the world’s most famous musicians recently gathered in Paris and New Orleans to celebrate the first annual International Jazz Day. UNESCO( United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) recently set April 30 as a day to raise awareness of jazz music, its significance, and its potential as a unifying(联合) voice across cultures.Despite the celebrations, though, in the U.S. the jazz audience continues to shrink and grow older, and the music has failed to connect with younger generations. It’s Jason Moran’s job to help change that. As the Kennedy Center’s artistic adviser for jazz, Moran hopes to widen the audience for jazz, make the music more accessible, and preserve its history and culture.“Jazz seems like it’s not really a part of the American appetite,〞 Moran tells National Public Radio’s reporter Neal Conan. “What I’m hoping to accomplish is that my generation and younger start to reconsider and understand that jazz is not black and write anymore. It’s actually color, and it’s actually digital.〞Moran says one of the problems with jazz today is that the entertainment aspect of the music has been lost. “The music can’t be presented today the way it was in 1908 or 1958. It has to continue to move, because the way the world works is not the same,〞 says Moran.Last year, Moran worked on a project that arranged Fats Waller’s music for a dance party, “Just to kind of put it back in the mind that Waller is dance music as much as it is concert music,〞 says Moran. “For me, it’s the recontextualization. In music, where does the emotion(情感) lie? Are we, as humans, gaining any insight(感悟) on how talk about ourselves and how something as abstract as a Charlie Parker record gets us into a dialogue about our emotions and our thoughts? Sometimes we lose sight that the music has a wider context,〞says Moran, “so I want to continue those dialogues. Those are the things I want to foster.〞29.What does the underlined word “that〞 in paragraph 3 refer to?A.Jazz becoming more accessible.B.The production of jazz growing faster.C.Jazz being less popular with the young.D.The jazz audience becoming larger.2.[2016·全国卷Ⅰ]CI am Peter Hodes, a volunteer stem cell courier.
