I think it's a good subject for you to think about because I believe business in America is in a crisis situation today. All you have to do is read the paper, and every month see our trade deficit, and it's just a very depressing situation.To speak to you about how to win in business, there's a lot of obvious things I could talk about. You first have to find a need. You've got to fill the need for the consumer out there. You've got to have a market. You got to have somebody to sell your product or your service to. You've got to, if you really want to get big and win big, you've got to have a uniqueness, there's got to be something a little bit different from you than all the competition out there. But by far the most important thing you've got to have to win in business in these United States today, is a very unique kind of mental toughness.I believe the difference in winning and losing in the free enterprise system, is so small it's almost too scary to talk about. You can 99% of the things right in business, and yet if you don't possess what I call that winning edge, that mental toughness, folks it's impossible to win.I believe the thinking in corporate America has been screwed up over these last 20-25 years. And I believe this screwed up kind of thinking started in our big liberal universities today. I believe a college degree in business from most universities today, is not worth the paper it's written on.I just had a son graduate from the University of Georgia a few months ago. The reason I think that, is because most of these professors and most of these universities today, haven't got enough common sense to get in out of the rain. 待机是将当前记录当前运行状态的数据保存在内存中，机器硬盘、屏幕和CPU等部件停止供电，整机只有内存还继续供电，由于数据存储在速度快的内存中，进入等待状态和唤醒的速度比较快。
但是在待机期间，仍然要保持内存的供电来维持数据，此时不能完全断开电脑的电源。
休眠则是将当前记录当前运行状态的数据保存在硬盘中，整机将完全停止供电，由于数据存储在速度较慢的硬盘中，进入休眠状态和完全唤醒的时候速度都比较慢。
在休眠期间不需要任何供电，因此可以完全断开电脑的电源。

首先，我们要对XP的“自动更新”功能下手，“自动更新”是Windows XP为了方便用户升级系统而推出的一种新功能，这种功能可以在微软推出系统升级补丁或系统安全补丁的时候，自动提醒用户升级自己的系统，不过这种功能有一个要求，就是用户必须时时在线，但是对于我们这些缺铁少银的“穷人”来说，这个要求未免苛刻，所以我们把“自动升级”功能关闭掉，改为“手动升级”。
具体操作为：右键单击“我的电脑”，点击属性，点击“自动更新”，在“通知设臵”一栏选择“关闭自动更新。
我将手动更新计算机”一项。
第二步，我们要对形如鸡肋的“系统还原”功能下手，系统还原功能是微软的一个很富有想象力的创意，不过微软没有能够很好的实现这种创意，所以做出来的系统还原功能只能使食之无味，弃之可惜的鸡肋之作。
对用户来说，没什么太大作用，所以我们决定要关闭它以节约内存。
具体操作为：右键单击“我的电脑”，点击属性，会弹出来系统属性对话框，点击“系统还原”，在“在所有驱动器上关闭系统还原”选项上打勾。
第三步，关闭“远程桌面”功能，这个功能它的一个特点就是可以让别人在另一台机器上访问你的桌面。
在局域网中，这个功能很有用。
比如你有问题了可以向同事求助，他可以不用到你的跟前，直接通过“远程桌面”来访问你的机器帮你解决问题。
但是对于我们只有一台计算机的普通用户来说这个功能就显得多余了，所以我们把它关掉，不让它在那儿白白浪费内存。
第四步，关闭“自动发送错误”功能，大家在Window XP 中肯定有这样的经历，一旦一个程序异常终止，系统就会自动跳出一个对话框问你是否将错误发送给微软，这就是XP中的“自动发送错误”功能，可这样的功能有什么用呢？除了浪费电话费外，对我们而言没有任何用处，所以我们应该义无反顾的把这项功能关掉。
右键单击“我的电脑”，点击属性，点击“高级”→“错误汇报”，选择“禁用错误汇报”功能。
第五步，关闭“视觉效果”中不需要的效果，Windows XP的操用界面的确是很好看，好看的背后是以消耗大量内存作为代价的，相对于速度和美观而言，我们还是宁愿选择前者，右键单击“我的电脑”，点击属性，点击“高级”，在“性能”一栏中，点击“设臵”，点击“视觉效果”，在这里把所有特殊的外观设臵都关闭掉，我们就可以省下“一大笔”内存。
第六步，关闭“Internet时间同步”功能，“Internet时间同步”，就是使你的计算机时钟每周和Internet 时间服务器进行一次同步，这样你的系统时间就会是精确的，不过这个功能对我们来说用处不大，而且还可能引起死机的问题。
所以我们要把它关掉。
具体操作是：依次单击“开始”→“控制面板”→“日期、时间、语言和区域选项”，然后单击“日期和时间”→“Internet时间”。
第七步，关闭多余的服务，Windows XP和Windows 2000一样可以作为诸如http服务器、邮件服务器、ftp服务器，所以每当WindowsXP启动时，随之也启动了许多服务，有很多服务对于我们这些普通用户来说是完全没用的，所以关掉它们是一个很好的选择。
有经验的电脑用户都有这样的体会，一台PC经过格式化，新装上系统时，速度很快，但使用一段时间，性能就会有明显的下降，这固然与系统中的软件增加、负荷变大有关系。
但问题是，添加新软件并不是造成系统负荷增加的唯一原因，比如硬盘碎片的增加，软件删除留下的无用注册文件，都有可能导致系统性能下降。
其实，只要我们随时对电脑系统进行合理的维护，就可使PC永远以最佳的状态运行。

目前世界上较为流行的防病毒软件有Dr Sdomon的Anti－Virus、McAfee的VirusScan,和Symantic的NortonAntivirus,这几个软件工作原理都是相同的，就是在系统启动后或接到命令后扫描整个硬盘或部份硬盘，发现病毒即刻清除。
它们还能在你上网时，进行自动更新，这点非常重要，因为病毒总是在不断推陈出新，杀毒软件若不及时更新，还怎么保护电脑呢？其次，清理磁盘碎片。
硬盘使用一段时间后，可储存的空间在物理上已变得不连续。
当安装应用程序，或保存大型文件时，数据通常是被分成许多碎片，存入硬盘不连续的区域中。
硬盘中的碎片越来越多，文件也就分布得越来越散乱。
那么当你再运行某个程序，打开某个文件时，会发现机器慢得令人难以忍受。

它工作得不错，只是速度太慢,Norton套装软件中的Speed Disk,也是个不错的磁盘碎片整理程序，它不仅速度快（整理1GB的硬盘只需Disk Defagment的一半时间），而且它能把你经常需要用到的文件放在磁盘的前端（速度可大大提升），并将那些频繁变化的文件放到硬盘后面较空的位臵上，以减少碎片的产生。
第三步，清除多余文件。
每当硬盘空间告急时，你总是要删除一些不需要的程序或文件。
当你按下了“Shifi＋Delete'时，可别以为它们已消失得干干净净了，其实还有一些相关的连接文件和已无用的注册表键还存留在硬盘中。
你需要使用反安装软件才能彻底地清除那些不想要的程序和文件。
在众多反安装程序中，Cyber Media的Uninstaller 和Quarterdeck的CleanSweep是佼佼者。
这两个软件易于使用，速度快，删除彻底。
它们能够检查并记住应用程序在磁盘中存放的位臵，以及相关的连接文件、复本文件，当文件不再使用时，你可以选择删除部分或全部文件，也可以让删除整个程序，或是将应用程序完整地移入其它系统。
当你升级电脑时，这项功能就非常有用了。
检查篇在清理了驱动器后，下一步就是检查。
通过定期扫描硬盘，不断升级软件，经常查看电脑状态，就可以防患于未然。
具体做法如下：第一，让硬盘保持良好的状态。
