河北省邯郸市临漳县第一中学高二下学期英语作业43 缺答案

河北省邯郸市临漳县第一中学高二下学期英语作业43 缺答案

4.3号英语作业一.阅读理解(每题2分)Elias’ StoryMy name is Elias. I am a poor black worker in South Africa. The time when I first met Nelson Mandela was a very difficult period of my life. I was twelve years old. It was in 1952 and Mandela was the black lawyer to whom I went for advice. He offered guidance to poor black people on their legal problems. He was generous with his time, for which I was grateful.I needed his help because I had very little education. I began school at six. The school where I studied for only two years was three kilometers away. I had to leave because my family could not continue to pay the school fees and the bus fare. I could not read or write well. After trying hard, I got a job in a gold mine. However, this was a time when one had got to have a passbook to live in Johannesburg. Sadly I did not have it because I was not born there, and I worried about whether I would become out of work. The day when Nelson Mandela helped me was one of my happiest. He told me how to get the correct papers so I could stay in Johannesburg. I became more hopeful about my future. I never forgot how kind Mandela was. When he organized the ANC Youth League, I joined it as soon as I could. He said:“The last thirty years have seen the gre atest number of laws stopping out rights and progress, until today we have reached a stage where we have almost no rights at all.”It was the truth. Black people could not vote or choose their leaders. They could not get the jobs they wanted. The parts of town in which they had to live were decided by white people. The places outside the towns where they were sent to live were the poorest parts of South Africa. No one could grow food there. In fact as Nelson Mandela said:“…we were put into a position in which we had either to accept we were less important or fight the government. We chose to attack the laws. We first broke thelaw in a way which was peaceful; when this was not allowed…only then did we decide to answer violence with violence.”As a matter of fact, I do not like violence… but in 1963 I helped him blow up some government buildings. It was very dangerous because if I was caught I could be put in prison. But I was happy to help because I knew it would help us achieve our dream of making black and white people equal.1.Elias had to leave school because .A.he was too youngB.he didn’t like to studyC.his school was far away from his homeD.his family could not continue to afford the school fees and the bus fare2.When Elias first met Nelson Mandela,.A.life was difficult for EliasB.Mandela was in troubleC.Elias was at schoolD.Elias was a very good worker3.In 1952,Mandela was a .A.workerB.presidentC.teacherwyer4.In Elias’ eyes,Mandela was .A.silent and helpfulB.rich but selfishC.kind and helpfulD.poor but kind5.What’s the purpose of Mandela’s work?A.To help the poor become rich.B.To build a new government.C.To make black and white people equal.D.To help the black beat the white.重点单词:1._________ n.质量;品质;性质2._________adj. 吝啬的;自私的;卑鄙的3. ________adj.积极的;活跃的4. _________ adj. 慷慨的;大方的5. _________ n.自我;自身6._________vt.献身;专心于7._________ n.法则;原则;原理8._________ adj. 和平的;平静的;安宁的9._________ n.指导;领导10._________ adj.法律的;依照法律的11._________ n.舞台;阶段;时期12._________ vt.& vi. 投票;选举13._________ vt.进攻;攻击;抨击14._________ n. 暴力;暴行15._________adj.相等的;平等的16._________ adj.乐意的;自愿的重点短语:1._________失业2._________事实上3._________使充气;爆炸4._________在危险、受罚、痛苦、忧虑等的处境中5._________求助于;致力于。

AI don’t often lose things and I’m especially careful with money, so I was quite surprised when I reached for my wallet and it wasn’t there,. At first, I thought it was possible that I could have left it at home. Then I remembered taking it out to pay for the taxi, so I knew I had it with me just before I walked into the restaurant. I wondered if it was possible that it could have slipped out of my pocket while I was sitting. Unfortunately, there were several people sitting at the table at the time, so I called a waiter and explained to him that my wallet had fallen out of my pocket while I was sitting at the table a few minutes earlier. I had the waiter go over to the table to see if my wallet was on the floor. While the waiter was looking for it, the manager of the restaurant came up to me and asked me if anything was wrong. I didn’t want to get a lot of people invol ved. He had me describe the wallet to him, and then he insisted that I report the missing wallet to the police. I told him that I didn’t particularly want to get the police involved in it; besides, I was in a hurry because I had an appointment with my doctor in just a few minutes. I explained to him that my biggest worry at the moment was how I was going to pay the check. He told me not to worry about that. He had me write down my name and address, and he said he would send me a bill.21. Why was the writer so sure that he had brought his wallet with him?A. He remembered that he didn’t leave it at home.B. He always felt his pocket for the wallet before he left home.C. He believed his own memory.D. He had taken it out to pay the taxi-driver.22. Why did the writer walk back to the table where he had been sitting?A. He was sure his wallet was still there.B. It was possible that he could find his wallet there.C. He could ask someone there about his wallet.D. He saw the wallet lying on the floor near the table.23. The manager_______.A. didn’t appear till very late.B. didn’t come at all because he was very busy.C. came up pretty soon to see what had happened.D. came to the table and found the wallet.BIn 1955, a man named Raymond Kroe entered a partnership with two brothers named McDonald. They opened a popular restaurant in California which sold food that was easy to prepare and serve quickly. Hamburgers French fries, and cold drinks were the main food there. Kroc opened similar eating places under th e same name, “McDonald’s”, and they were an instant success. He later took over the company, and today it is one of the most famous and successful “fast-food” in America and round the world. Why was his idea so successful? Probably the most important reason was that his timing was right. In the 1950s, most married women stayed home to keep house and take care of their children. In the 1960s, many women returned to the workplace. This meant that they had less time or energy to prepare meals, so they spent mo re on “TV dinners” and fast-food restaurants. Single parents also have little time to spend in the kitchen. People living alone also depend on this type of food, since cooking for one is often more trouble than it is worth.Fast-food is not part of the diet of all Americans. Another trend of the 1960s, sometimes called the back-to-nature movement influenced many people to avoid food that was packaged or processed (处理). This preference for natural food continues to this day.Fro m the success of Raymond Kroc’s fast-food business, we can say that social economic(经济)trends influence where and what we eat.24. “Cooking for one is often more trouble than it is worth” means that ________.A. cooking for some people is worth more moneyB. it is not worthwhile to take too much time to cook for one personC. there are more problems when one person cooksD. divorce(离婚)causes people to change their eating habits25. McDonald’s success was mainly because ________.A. people living alone depend on fast-foodB. single parents have little time to spend in the kitchenC. many women returned to the workplace in the 1960sD. his timing was right26. The main idea of the reading is that ________.A. Raymond Kroc is the most successful fast-food business owner in the worldB. social and economic changes affect eating habitsC. fast-food is easy to prepare and serve quicklyD. Americans eat either fast-food or natural foodCIf you can only do three things, do these to get a good night’s sleep, says Helene A. Emsellem, director of the Center for Sleep & Wake Disorders in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and an associate clinical professor of neurology at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC.1. Allow one hour before bedtime for a relaxing activity. Watching the news or answering e-mails does not count! Better choices are reading or listening to soft music.2. If your mind is relaxed but your body is tense, do some low-intensity stretches and exercises to relax your muscles, especially those in your upper body, neck, and shoulders. Before you get into bed, use light weights (3 to 5 pounds for women, 5 to 10 pounds for men) to calmly exercise these muscles. Do one set of 8 to 10 repetitions of a basic exercise for each upper body muscle. We call this automassage.3. Allow at least three hours between dinner and bedtime. The brain does not sleep well on a full stomach. If you know that you have a busy day planned the following day, have your big meal at lunchtime and a lighter meal as early as possible in the evening. If you find you are still hungry before bedtime, try one of the many protein-enriched power bars (without chocolate) for yourbedtime snack.27. The writer’s main purpose is to ______.A. tell the readers some ways to get a good night’s restB. warn people not to eat too much before going to bedC. help the readers to know the importance of sleepingD. remind people to get ready for tomorrow’s busy work28. We can know from the passage that ______.A. watching TV is a good way to relax ourselvesB. doing much exercise can help people sleep wellC. having dinner as early as possible is not good for your sleepD. eating too much in the evening has an effect on your sleep29. The underlined word “this” here refers to ______.A. doing some low-intensity stretches and exercises to relax your musclesB. using light weights to calmly exercise muscles before getting into bedC. doing one set of 8 to 10 repetitions of a basic exercise for each upper body muscleD. relaxing your muscles in your upper body, neck, and shoulders30. According to this passage, the most important thing to get a good night’s sleep is ______.A. to eat too muchB. to get prepared for tomorrow’s workC. to relax yourselfD. not to be hungry第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项。

河北省邯郸市临漳县第一中学高二下学期英语作业3 含答案

3.7号英语作业一、阅读理解With around 100 students scheduled to be in that 9 am Monday morning lecture, it is no surprise that almost 20 people actually make it to the class and only 10 of them are still awake after the first 15 minutes; it is not even a surprise that most of them are still in their pyjamas(睡衣). Obviously, students are terrible at adjusting their sleep cycles to their daily schedule. All human beings possess a body clock. Along with other alerting(警报) systems, this governs the sleep/wake cycle and is therefore one of the main processes which govern sleep behaviour. Typically, the preferred sleep/wake cycle is delayed in adolescents, which leads to many students not feeling sleepy until much later in the evenings. This typical sleep pattern is usually referred to as the “night owl” schedule of sleep. This is opposed to the “early bird” schedule, and is a kind of disorder where the individual tends to stay up much past midnight. Such a person has great difficulty in waking up in the mornings. Research suggests that night owls feel most alert and function best in the evenings and at night. Research findings have shown that about 20 per cent of people can be classified as “night owls” and only 10 per cent can be classif ied as “early birds”—the other 70 per cent are in the middle. Although this is clearly not true for all students, for the ones who are true night owls this gives them an excellent excuse for missing their lectures which unfortunately fall before midday.43. What does the author stress in Paragraph 1?A. Many students are absent from class.B. Students are very tired on Monday mornings.C. Students do not adjust their sleep patterns well.D. Students are not well prepared for class on Mondays.44. Which of the following is TRUE according to Paragraph 2?A. Most students prefer to get up late in the morning.B. Students don't sleep well because of alerting systems.C. One's body clock governs the sleep/wake cycle independently.D. Adolescents' delayed sleep/wake cycle isn't the preferred pattern.45. Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined word “classified”?A. Criticized.B. Grouped.C. Organized.D. Named.46. What does the text mainly talk about?A. Functions of the body clock.B.The “night owl” phenomenon.C. Human beings' sleep behaviour.D. The school schedule of “early birds”.你需要记住的单词写在此处并记忆、记忆、再记忆:AA guide to the universityFoodThe TWU Cafeteria is open 7 am to 8 pm. It serves snacks(小吃), drinks, ice cream bars and meals. Why don't you fly out and meet me?” My father had just retired after 27 years as a manager for IBM. His job filled his day, his thoughts, his life. While he woke up and took a warm shower, I screamed under a freezing waterfall in Peru. While he tied a tie and put on the same Swiss watch, I rowed a boat across Lake of the Ozarks. My father sees me drifting aimlessly, nothing to show for my 33 years but a passport full of funny stamps. He wants me to settle down, but now I want him to find an adventure. He agrees to travel with me through the national parks. We meet four weeks later in Rapid City.“What's our fir st stop?” asks my father.“What time is it?”“Still don't have a watch?”Less than an hour away is Mount Rushmore. As he stares up at the four Presidents carved in granite(花岗岩), his mouth and eyes open slowly, like those of a little boy.“Unbelievable,” he says. “How was this done?”A film in the information centre shows sculptor Gutzon Borglum devoted 14 years to the sculpture and then left the final touches to his son.We stare up and I ask myself, “Would I ever devote my life to anything?”No directions,no goals. I always used to hear those words in my father's voice. Now I hear them in my own.The next day we're at Yellowstone National Park, where we have a picnic.“Did you ever travel with your dad?” I ask.“Only once,” he says. “I never spoke much with my father. We loved each other—but never said it. Whatever he could give me, he gave.”That last sentence---it's probably the same thing I'd say about my father. And what I'd want my child to say about me.In Glacier National Park, my father says, “I've never seen water so blue.” I have, in several places of the world, I can keep travelling, I realize—and maybe a regular job won't be as dull as I feared.Weeks after our trip, I call my father.“The photos from the trip are wonderful,” he says.“We've got to take another trip like that sometime.”I tell him I've decided to settle down, and I'm wearing a watch.46. 15英语作业(二)(A)On Nov。

18th,1908,three men went up in a balloon(气球)。

They started early in London. The headman was Augusta Gurdon, and the other two men were Tanner and Maitland. They had a big balloon and they were ready for a long way.Soon they heard the sea。

They were carrying the usual rope(绳子),and it was hanging down from the basket of the balloon. At the end of the rope they had tied a metal box。

This could hold water,or it could be empty。

So they were able to change its weight(重量).It was for use over the sea. They were also carrying some bags of sand. After the sun rose, the balloon went higher。

It went up to 3,000 meters, and the air was very cold。

The water in the balloon became ice. Snow fell past the men's basket, and they could see more snow on the ground. The men tried to throw out some more sand; but it was hard. They tried to break the icy sand with their knives, but it was not easy. The work was slow and they were still falling,so they had to drop some whole bags of sand. One of them fell on an icy lake and made a black hole in the ice。

5.3号实验班英语周考试题一.阅读理解(每题2分, 共16 分。

)(A)THE STORY OF ATLANTAAtlanta was a Greek princess. She was very beautiful and could run faster than any man in Greece. But she was not allowed to run and win glory for herself in the Olympic Games. She was so angry that she said to her father that she would not marry anyone who could not run faster than her. Her father said that she must marry, so Atlanta made a bargain with him. She said to him, "These are my rules. When a man says he wants to marry me, I will run against him. If he cannot run as fast as me, he will be killed. No one will be pardoned."Many kings and princes wanted to marry Atlanta, but when they heard of her rules they knew it was hopeless. So many of them sadly went home, but others stayed to run the race. There was a man called Hippomenes who was amazed when he heard of Atlanta's rules, "Why are these men so foolish?" he thought. "Why will they let themselves be killed because they cannot run as fast as this princess?" However, when he saw Atlanta come out of her house to run, Hippomenes changed his mind. "I will marry Atlanta - or die!" he said. The race started and although the men ran very fast, Atlanta ran faster. As Hippomenes watched he thought, "How can I run as fast as Atlanta?" He went to ask the Greek Goddess of Love for help. She promised to help him and gave him three golden apples. She said, "Throw an apple in front of Atlanta when she is running past. When she stops to pick it up, you will be able to run past her and win." Hippomenes took the apples and went to the King. He said, "I want to marry Atlanta." The King was sad to see another man die, but Hippomenes said, "I will marry her - or die!" So the race began.1.What were Atlanta’s rules?A.She would kill the man who wanted to marry her.B.She would run against the man who wanted to marry her.C.The man who ran against her would be killed.D. She would marry the man who would run against her.2.What did Hippomenes think of the men who ran against Atlanta at first?A.Wise.B.Brave.C.Foolish.D.Shy.3.What can we see from the sentence “I will marry Atlanta—or die!” said by Hippomenes?A. Hippomenes was so kind that he didn’t want other men to be killed.B. Hippomenes believed that he could defeat Atlanta.C. Atlanta’s beauty moved him so much that he would try his best tomarry Atlanta even he might lose his life.D.He would like to do anything for Atlanta as well as to die.(B)When asked about happiness, we usually think of something extraordinary, an absolute delight, which seems to get rarer the older we get.For kids, happiness has a magical quality. Their delight at winning a race or getting a new bike is unreserved(毫无掩饰的).In the teenage years the concept of happiness changes. Suddenly it’s conditional on such things as excitement, love and popularity. I can still recall the excitement of being invited to dance with the most attractive boy at the school party. In adulthood the things that bring deep joy—love, marriage, birth—also bring responsibility and the risk of loss. For adults, happiness is complicated(复杂的). My definition of happiness is“the capacity for enjoyment”. The more we can enjoy what we have, the happier we are. It’s easy to overlook the pleasure we get from the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, and even good health.I experienced my little moments of pleasure yesterday. First I was overjoyed when I shut the last lunch-box and had the house to myself. Then I spent an uninterrupted morning writing, which I love. When the kids and my husband came home, I enjoyed their noise after the quiet of the day.Psychologists tell us that to be happy we need a mix of enjoyable leisure time and satisfying work. I don’t think that my grandmother, who raised 14 children, had much of either. She did have a network of close friends and family, and maybe this is whatsatisfied her.We, however, with so many choices and such pressure to succeed in every area, have turned happiness into one more thing we’ve got to have. We’re so self-conscious about our“right”to it that it’s making us miserable. So we chase it and equal it with wealth and success, without noticing that the people who have those things aren’t necessarily happier.Happiness isn’t about what happens to us—it’s about how we see what happens to us. So much information, so little time to read it. In this age there is more information than ever before. There is not enough time to read everything we want to read. However, you can consume more information in shorter time through speed-reading.The first thing about speed-reading is looking at the word and recognizing it. Don’t say the word in your mind, just look at it and recognize its importance. Later you will recognize clumps of four words or more to increase your speed. This is the first and most important step in speed-reading.The next step is technique. As with any other skill, speed-reading requires technique. You should first be sitting up straight with your book flat on a horizontal (水平的) surface such as a table or a desk. Next, you should be able to see the entire page. This is necessary if you want to recognize clumps of words. Lastly, you should be focused. It is hard to read with a lot of noise. Find a quiet place to read. This will help your understanding of the text. You need something to guide your eyes while reading. You should use your finger. Move your finger smoothly across the page. Keep your eyes focused on the words as you recognize them while using your finger as a guide. This will increase your speed. The third step is practice. Practice makes perfect. Read using different techniques, but make sure you understand what you are reading.28.From the first paragraph, we know that _______.A. there is more limited information than ever beforeB. conditions ask people to use less time to know more informationC. people can read what they likeD. the less you read, the more time you will spend29.Which of the following shows the RIGHT time order for speed-reading according to the passage?a. What I found is an exciting new era of higher education that will help more students get a great, personalized education at an affordable price. This future may not always include the lecture halls, dormitories, and other features of the traditional college experience. Instead, the colleges I visited are experimenting with ways for students to get their degrees online, allowing them to take courses any place and at any time. These “colleges without walls,” as they are sometimes called, are at the forefront of the effort to broaden access to higher education, especially for low-income students with full-time jobs and families. During my visit, I heard encouraging stories of students who were taking advantage of these flexiblelearning models to pursue degrees that could put them on paths to new careers. One of those students was Shawn Lee. He had a compelling story: After dropping out of college decades ago, he found himself in a series of low-paying, often back-breaking jobs. He recently decided to get his degree when he had his first child and wanted to start building a better life.Tucked away in an industrial park in Tempe, Rio Salado didn’t look much like a traditional institute of higher education. There were no students running to class. Just a couple of glass-faced office buildings. The college had just 22 full-time faculty serving 60,000 students, with more than half of them attending classes online.Several students I met during my visit said the y liked learning online. “I’ve taken college classes in a big auditorium with herds of people. There was no personal connection,” one student said. “Now I can reach my teacher with the click of a mouse.”After several days’ visit, I left Arizona feeling qu ite optimistic about what the future holds for higher education.32.What does “colleges without walls” in the third paragraph refer to?A. Colleges that have no walls around.B. Colleges that students attend online.C. Colleges that can be entered freely.D. Colleges that give students more freedom.33.What made Shawn Lee return to attend college again?A. That he has nothing to do.B. That he couldn’t find a job.C. That the cost of the college is low.D. That he wanted to find a better job.34.How did the writer feel after the visit?A. Hopeful.B. Dissatisfied.C. Disappointed.D. Upset. 35.What is the writer’s purpose by writing this passage?A. To explain what “colleges without walls” are.B. To advertise the colleges.C. To encourage people to attend higher education.D. To introduce a new model of education.第二节(共 5 小题,每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
