构成:was / were + 现在分词
用法:1)过去进行时表现过去某一时刻正在进行的动作。
eg. She was writing a letter when I came in .我进来时,她正在写封信。
2)过去进行时还表示过去某阶段正在进行的动作。
eg. They were waiting for you yesterday . 他们昨天一直在等你。
2. when/while区别:

When既可指时间点,也可指时间段。
When引导的时间状语从句,主句用过去进行时,从句应用一般过去时。
