WORK ASSIGMENTS:

I plan to begin my Master degree study in your Computer Control and Automation program in the fall of 2010 and wish to obtain the degree within 1 year or so.

Computer control technology develops fast with the fruits of modern IT theory. There is a wide range of fascinating questions in understanding life systems. During these years’ study at Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, BUAA, “211”), I constantly managed to improve myself through independent reading and project experience. This kept well informed of the latest development in Computer Control and Automation which attracted me a lot.

Not focusing only on textbooks and test scores, I am interested more in laboratory experiment and do some specific projects. The first two years in Beihang University, I spent lot of my leisure time on practical training in Engineering Training Center as well as various experiments such as analog and digital electronic circuit experiments and physics experiments. It is duly my related extracurricular activities that cultivated my capability to integrate theory with practical issues, and my distinguished academic performance also help me won the prior opportunities to participate in a variety of competitions when I was a junior. For example last year (2008), I designed and fabricated a mobile garbage bin with tracking and human sensing ability and participated in the school's "Feng Ru Cup" Students Technological Contest; Last summer vacation, I took part in the biennial National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest in Beijing and its 2-month training program provided by School of EIE of BUAA.

During the project of Mobile Garbage Bin, my task was to design a multifunctional garbage bin in order to reduce workload of sanitation workers as well as to make public sanitations more user-friendly; there I applied PIR sensor to acquire environment information and light sensors to provide tracking ability. Our intelligent mobile garbage bin employed the technologies of both controlling theory and mechanics, and we finally reached a goal of making the garbage bin tracking the given route as well as implement some pre-set functions while sensing the approach of human. The process of designing and realizing the mobile garbage bin render me realized that an appropriate cooperation of mechanics and electronic is much better than a single outstanding control system.

During the training program of 2008, our task was to design a Hanging Movement Control System for controlling a suspender to track a random marked line on a board with an obliquity angle of 100 degree; however, the challenge in the project was to measure the position of the suspender hanged by 2 strings. A new idea entered into my head was to design a motion algorithm to locate the suspender by measuring length of the 2 strings. Firstly, we tried to measure the wheeled angle of motors by using of photoeletronic encoder; unfortunately, it turned out to be low precision because of the control hysteresis of DC motor. After synthetically compared the precision of utilizing stepping motor and DC motor to measure the position of the suspender, we decided to adopt stepping motor with a local feedback to modify the position.We used SST MCU as the control processor and I programmed the control system with C and debugged it.Finally, the
