第二行开始就是正文了英文信件则不然,中文信件往往第一行是称谓。尽管信 封上的收件人和发件人双方的地址都已经写得很明白,但在求职信的开头还需 要再次引述,然后才是称谓。英文求职信中,发件人的地址一般放在信的左上 角或右上角,因此通常被称为 “ 信头 ”

points that help gain your letter a more thoughtful reading:
First, start with something that will arouse favorable attention; (arouse...attention 引起关注) Second, talk about the work the firm needs done and why you are the right person for it rather than asking for an application or saying that you are looking for a job; Third, if you have heard about a job opening (空缺的职位) from someone, you might mention this person in your opening paragraph, especially if he or she is familiar with your prospective employer (潜在的雇主).

缩进式的信,日期一般放在信头下的右上角;顶行式的信,日期则打在左上角。 在写法上,位置也有讲究: 美式习惯为月、日、年排列,而且日一般用基数词, 如 “October 12, 2004. 依照英式习惯,日期的顺序为日、月、年,而且日一般用序数词,如 “ 3rd November, 2004 ”. 这点应该注意,年前要有逗号。
