第二部分阅读理解(满分40分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

21.(6分)In recent years, a growing body of research has shown that our appetite and food intake are influenced by a large number of factors besides our biological need for energy, including our eating environment and our perception(感知)of the food in front of us.
Studies have shown, for instance, that eating in front of the TV (or a similar distraction) can increase both hunger and the amount of food consumed. Even simple visual clues, like plate size and lighting, have been shown to affect portion size and consumption.
A new study suggested that our short-term memory also may play a role in appetite. Several hours after a meal, people's hunger levels were predicted not by how much they’d eaten but rather by how much food they'd seen in front
of them—in other words, how much they remembered eating.
This disparity (新旧研究的差异)suggests the memory of our previous meal may have a bigger influence on our appetite than the actual size of the meal, says Jeffrey M. Brunstrom, a professor of experimental psychology at the University of Bristol.
"Hunger isn't controlled individually by the physical characteristics of a recent meal. We have identified an independent role for memory for that meal," Brunstrom says. "This shows that the relationship between hunger and food intake is more complex than we thought."
Thes e findings echo earlier research that suggests our perception of food can sometimes trick our body’s response to the food itself. In a 2011 study, for instance, people who drank the same 380-calorie milkshake on two separate occasions produced different levels of hunger-related hormones (荷尔蒙),depending on whether the shake’s label said it contained 620 or 140 calories. Moreover, the participants reported feeling more full when they thought they'd consumed a higher-calorie shake.
What does this mean for our eating habits? Although it hardly seems practical to trick ourselves into eating less, the new findings do highlight the benefits of focusing on our food and avoiding TV and multitasking while eating.
The so-called mindful-eating strategies can fight distractions and help us control our appetite, Brunstrom says.
1、What is said to be a factor affecting our appetite and food intake?
A.How we feel the food we eat.
B.When we eat our meals.
C.What element the food contains.
D.How fast we eat our meals.
2、What would happen at meal time if you remembered eating a lot in the previous meal?
A.Y ou would probably be more particular about food.
B.Y ou would not feel like eating the same food.
C.Y ou would have a good appetite.
D.Y ou would not feel so hungry.
3、What do we learn from the 2011 study?
A.Food labels may mislead consumers in their purchases.
B.Food labels may influence our body’s response to food.
C.Hunger levels depend on one's consumption of calories.
D.People tend to take in a lot more calories than necessary.
4、What does Brunstrom suggest we do to control our appetite?
A.Trick ourselves into eating less.
B.Choose food with fewer calories.
C.Concentrate on food while eating.
D.Pick dishes of the right size.
5、What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Eating distractions often affect our food digestion.
B.Psychological factors influence our hunger levels.
C.Our food intake is determined by our biological needs.
D.Good eating habits will contribute to our health.
22.(8分)“You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family.” That line comes from American writer Ha rper Lee’s book To Kill a Mockingbird. Now compare her words to another famous expression: “Blood is thicker than water”.
However, if forced to choose which is more important, American researchers now say friendship is more important than family. Their new study suggests that friends may be more important than family members, especially as we age.
The study comes from researchers at Michigan State University. They found the importance of friendship on health and happiness grows as people get older.
William Chopik is an assistant professor of psychology at Michigan State and was one of the lead researchers in this study. He says, “Friendship becomes even more important as we age. Keeping a few really good friends around can make a world of difference for our health and well-being.” Chopik notes that we need to think of friendship as an investment in our future happiness.
The Michigan State researchers considered information from two separate surveys. In the first group, both family and friendships influenced overall health and happiness. However, in the second, researchers said that friendships “became a stronger predictor of health and happiness” as people get older. Also in the second group, unhealthy friendships led to increased chronic conditions. But with supportive friends, Chopik noted, participants reported being happier.
One reason is that people can keep the friendships that make them feel good and move on from the ones that don’t. Family, on the other hand, will always be with you. They can be helpful and enjoyable, but can also cause troubles.
This may be good news for people who don’t have strong ties with family members. Not all of us are born into the families we need. But we all have the ability to choose friends that we need.
1、94.What should we invest to get later well-being according to the researchers?
A.Good friend ties. B.Easy health exercises.
C.Common family relations. D.Personal relation knowledge.
2、96.How is the research carried out?
A.By doing two experiments. B.By interviewing all at once.
C.By conducting two surveys. D.By taking part in activities.
3、98.What can the people with weak family ties do?
A.Develop stronger family relations. B.Make as many friends as possible.
C.Get more supportive friends. D.Stay with family members.
4、100.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Friends and family members are equally important.
B.When we grow older, friendship matters more.
C.As we age, family members are more valuable.
D.We always need friends and family members.
23.(8分)Y oung sunflowers turn and swing every day. New findings add to evidence that the plants are animal-like.
Harmer, a professor in the University of California at Davis, Department of Plant Biology, carried out a series of experiments on sunflowers in the field, in pots outdoors and in indoor growth chambers.
By staking plants so that they could not move, Harmer showed that he could destroy their ability to track the sun. He also noticed that sunflowers prevented from moving were not as tough and leafy as those that were free to move. When plants were moved indoor with a settled overhead light, they continued to swing back and forth for a few days.
The indoor plants did start tracking the “sun” again when the apparent source of lighting was moved across the room. The plants could reliably track the movement and return at night when the artificial day was close to a 24-hour cycle, but not when it was closer to 30 hours.
When sunflowers track the sun, the east sides of their stems grew more rapidly than the west sides. At night, the west sides grew faster as the stem swung the other way. The team identified a number of genes that were expressed at higher levels on the sunward side of the plant during the day or on the other side at night. A plant growth-regulating hormone (激素), called auxin, appears to be a key driver.
The “dance” to the sun cycle obviously slows when the sunflower matures (成熟) and its flowers open up. At that point, the plants stop moving during the day and settle down facing the sun in the east.
“Bees like warm flowers.” Harmer said, adding that the bees are cold-blooded, so landing on a warm flower saves them energy and perhaps feels really good.
“The morning warmth changes the flowers in a way to make them more appealing to insects, perhaps causing them to release more attractive scents earlier in the day.” he said “We’re currently testing this idea.”
1、Why did Harmer do the experiment on sunflowers?
A.To see how sunflowers grow up
B.To show what sunflowers’ genes are.
C.To study why sunflowers track the sun.
D.To check if sunflowers swing in cloudy days.
2、What does the underlined word “staking” probabl y mean in Paragraph 3?
A.tracking B.fining
C.growing D.searching
3、What is the result of sunflowers being stopped from moving?
A.They will produce a number of new genes.
B.They will grow faster than usual.
C.They won’t swing back though set free.
D.T hey won’t grow well.
4、What is the advantage of sunflowers’ dance to the sun?
A.They attract more insects. B.They save more energy.
C.They mature more rapidly. D.They produce more flowers.
24.(8分)For the kids who have just started to read, choosing the right books is essential and their parents should be there to help them.
A proper book classification system would be of great help in this regard, since most parents do not know which books suit their children’s reading levels the most. An effective classification system for children’s books would help overcome this problem.
Chinese bookstores, online or offline, still prefer to use age rather than reading ability to categorize what they sell. In fact, reading ability and interests vary from child to child even when they are at the same age. This early form of classification is accepted by most bookstores and publishers, yet many young readers get books that are nowhere near their targeted reading levels.
China has at least 200 million children under the age of 14, and their enthusiasm for reading has increased over the years. The publishers of children’s books should try to introduce a juvenile-centered classification system to help their readers choose books that are suitable for their reading abilities.
Some don’t trust the call for more effective book classification, mentioning the need for youngsters to read extensively and avoid restricting themselves to one or two categories. There is a strong case for resisting selective reading, but not book classification, which is designed to help young children develop good reading habits and hold onto them in the long run.
Studies have found that kids are less likely to be into reading if they have not developed such a habit before the age of 10. That said, it is in their best interests to adopt targeted reading during childhood, as this can greatly improve their comprehension abilities. So greater efforts should be put into designing a book classification system that meets the needs of young readers.
1、A proper book classification system should ________.
A.be on an age basis
B.limit readers to one or two categories
C.help readers get books suitable for their reading levels
D.benefit all the bookstores and publishers
2、What does the underlined word “them” in Para graph 5 refer to?
A.Y oung children. B.Publishers.
C.Reading levels. D.Reading habits.
3、What do we know from Paragraph 5?
A.There is a strong case for resisting book classification.
B.Everyone doesn’t support a more effective book classification.
C.Y oungsters should be restricted to a few categories of books.
D.Y oungsters don’t need to read extensively.
4、What’s the author’s attitude towards the current book classification system?
A.Dissatisfied. B.Ambiguous.
C.Supportive. D.Unconcerned.
25.(10分)As providers and caretakers(监护人), adults tend to view the children as happy and free. After all, kids don’t have jobs to keep or bills to pay, so what do they possibly have to worry about?
Plenty! Even very young children have worries and feel stressful to some degree. Stress is a function of the demands placed on us. These demands often come from outside sources, such as families, jobs, friends, or schools. But they can also come from our feelings, for example, what we think we should be doing versus w hat we’re actually able to do.
Stress can affect anyone who feels at a loss, even kids. For kids in the kindergarten, separation from parents can cause anxiety. As kids get older, academic and social pressures also create stress, especially those who want to fit in their school are probably to get more stress.
Many kids are too busy to have time to play creatively or relax after school. Kids who complain about all their activities or who refuse to take part in them might be too tired and full of stress. Talk with kids about how they feel about the activities related to their courses. If they complain, you should consider stopping one activity for a period of
time, or you can explore, ways to help them manage their time and lessen their anxiety.
Another source of stress is world news. Kids who see scary images on TV or hear someone talk of natural disasters or ways may worry about their own safety and the people they love. Talk to them about what they see and hear on TV to help them understand what’s going on.
What’s more, be aware of some negative factors, such as an illness, or death of a loved one. When these are added to the everyday pressure kids face, the stress may appear. Separated or divorced parents should never put kids in a position of having to choose who they would like to live with.
1、Who is the most stressed according to the text?
A.A kid not getting many gifts on her birthday.
B.A kid not getting used to the school life.
C.A kid living with his strict parents.
D.A kid failing in making new friends.
2、What’s Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.Ways to help kids relieve stress.
B.Activities to stay with kids.
C.Courses to help kids relax.
D.Reasons for kid’s feeling stressed.
3、What can be concluded from the text?
A.World news may make kids worry about the ir countries’ safety.
B.Kids who behave well in the school haven’t stress.
C.Stress is not very common and serious among children.
D.Negative things and daily pressure can cause stress.
4、What’s the best title for the text?
A.Sources of Stress B.Effects of Stress
C.Children’s Stress D.Students’ Stress

第二节书面表达(满分25分)
29、Popularization of Campus Football
China's Ministry of Education has promoted popularization of campus football in schools. It is of great significance to popularize campus football. Firstly, football training in schools will help teenagers to build up their bodies. Secondly, it will enable teenagers to lay a solid foundation of football at an early age.
However, ahead of us lie some difficulties. At present, the majority of the schools in our country have no football facilities, like standard football fields. Also, qualified coaches are in great need.
As far as I am concerned, in order to popularize campus football, I strongly advocate that we should make joint efforts to contribute to the youth football progress and that local governments should take effective measures to support the youth football development.。
