英语作文schooluniforms

Directions:

Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. You should write no less than 200 words.

Recently the issue whether we students should wear school uniforms or not has become a heated topic, in my point of view, we should not make it a compulsory rule and here are some my own ideas.

As a matter of fact, there are fairly an army of people who consider school uniforms as a symbol of strict discipline, but I think they have overestimated the role which school uniform plays in students' lives. With the rapid development of our society, individual diversities and personalities have been more and more respected and also attached great significance.We value different ideas, we appreciate different choices, so why there are still some people who believe that wearing the same, poorly-designed and uncomfortable clothes to school is the golden rule?

In the first place, we can never rely on school uniforms to keep students organized, the reason is simple, what they wear is just a superficial phenomenon, discipline comes from appropriate guidance and good self-awareness, and that is exactly what we should give priority to.

So from what has been discussed above, it is obvious that as our society moving forward, we should take a new look at the old policies in education. No one can deny the fact that the school uniform has its own advantages, whereas its effect should not be

overestimated too. Whether it is necessary or not, one thing is clear, all of the policies that concerns students' growth should be well thought out and adjusted in accordance with the social situation.In conclusion, it is our duties to make efforts to create an atmosphere that motivates their self-development and meets their practical needs in the same time.
