Although many people read online, books have not gone out of fashion. In Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, lucky passengers may find books somewhere on the underground.
The Fair, an online publishing company, has put 10,000 books on the underground, planes and taxis to make people more interested in reading. This project is called “Mobook”.
“Mobook” gets its idea from “Books on the Underground”,a community project in London. The purpose of “Books on the Underground” is to encourage people to read more. Zhang Wei, the CEO of the Fair also wanted to do something in China. He sent an e-mail to Ms Cordelia Oxley, the leader of “Books on the Underground”,describing his plan and explaining the rulers of “Mobook”. The leader replied to him in just two hours, saying that she thought the idea was great and she would offer help if needed.
But “Mobook” project is a little different from that in London. It has its own online system. People who want to donate books must give their information online. QR code stickers(⼆维码标签) are then sent to their addresses. The book owners should stick them on the books before donating books and readers can know where the books are from with the help of QR codes.
“Mobook” is a hot topic. Now thousands of bookworms have already taken

In ancient China, it was common that the eldest son should look after the parents. But Confucius' elder brother was disabled, so Confucius(孔⼦) had to take care of his mother till she died in 535 BC. One of his teachings was that a person should feel or express great sadness for their parents' death for three years. The reason was that they looked after the child completely until it was three. Filial piety(孝道) is very important in Confucius' thought.
After he had finished mourning(守孝) for his mother, he began to teach and got followers around him. How many students did Confucius get? We are not sure. It is believed that 72 of them were very famous. Some of his students came from poor families, others were from rich families. He thought everyone should have a right to receive education.
Confucius lived in a time of being unstable(不稳定的), so many of his teachings were connected to social harmony(和谐). He thought, in a family, parents should behave like parents, caring for the young, while children should behave like children, knowing how to look after the old. If such relationships are remained, a country will be peaceful and a family will be harmonious(和睦的).
“Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself.”

Pollution inside homes and other buildings kills more than 4
million people each year. Many people die as a result of
breathing smoke or from cooking over wood-powered or
coal-powered stoves.
One way to reduce the number of deaths is through cooking equipment powered by the sun. Crosby Menzies, a solar power expert in a South African company, described his latest solar cooker called the “Sol-4”. “It is four square mete rs of mirrors, six to eight meters in length. It is quite a large cooker.”
The “Sol-4” works by reflecting(反射) light from the sun off large mirrors. The mirrors direct(把……对准) the light at a cooking pan. Then the light heats the pan with solar energy. Within two minutes, the pan is hot enough to cook sausages and onions. In just four minutes, water can be boiled. That is as fast as cooking with natural gas or electricity.
Th e cooker is also much “friendlier” than other models because people do not have to stand in the sun to use it. And people can prepare meals without having to collect firewood or spend money on coal. Such people would be less likely to have breathing illnesses from harmful smoke.
At present, the cooker only works when the sun is shining. But engineers are
working on a way to make it work without sunlight.
Each cooker costs about $2,000, which is a large amount of money for most Africans. To solve that problem, Crosby Menzies has created a non-governmental organization called Solar Cookers for Africa. It plans to raise money through donations to provide poor people with solar cooking equipment.

The Silk Road is a historically important international
trade line between China and the Mediterranean(地中海). It
began during the Western Han Dynasty and has been a bridge
between East and West for over 2,000 years.
The ancient road started from Chang'an(Xi'an) and ended in Eastern Europe, near today's Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea. It was about 6,500 kilometers long
and went across one-fourth of the planet.
The Silk Road got its name in the 19th century because Chinese silk used to be carried along this road. Silk, jade, ceramics and iron went to Rome. And from the west came glass, gems and food like carrots.
The Silk Road was very important to both China and the rest of the world. It was more than an ancient international trade line. Besides trade, knowledge about arts, science and literature, as well as crafts and technologies was shared across the Silk Road. In this way, languages and cultures developed and influenced each other.
Today, China is trying to build the “21st Century Marine(海洋的) Silk Road”. With the help of APEC held in Beijing in November 2014, the dream of One Road(the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and “21st Century Marine Silk Road”) (“⼀带⼀路”) is coming true.

I was a schoolgirl in Grade 7 when Danny came to my school
and became one of my classmates. He was handsome with blond
hair, so many girls in my class liked him very much. Every day, his
parents picked him up in an old car. We all realized he was from a
poor family. I had a poor family as well, but I just hid it from everyone. I was afraid the kids in my class would leave me if they knew the truth.
One day, our teacher, Mr. Sims, announced that we would have a field trip. We decided to go to an amusement park. My classmates were excited. I sat back and looked at them, knowing that my parents did not have the money to send me. To my surprise, Danny stood up and said simply, “I won't go with you. My dad hurt his back and lost his job. I am not asking my parents for money.”
“Danny, I'm very proud of you for understanding the situation that your parents are in.” Mr. Sims replied. “But the trip is at the end of the month; we have plenty of time to raise money for it.” While walking home from school that day, I noticed three boys talking with Danny. I was a little worried that they were giving him a hard time. But as I got closer, I found they were discussing how to raise money for the trip. By standing up and admitting(承认) he was poor, Danny changed my life.
I no longer felt I had to lie about my family's situation. As for Danny, I will remember his courage and honesty forever.。
