My English Adventure
Hi everyone! I'm excited to share my English adventure with you. I'm in the eighth grade now, and we have been studying English with the "Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press" textbooks. Our mid-term exams are coming up, so let me tell you about some of the fun things we've learned this semester.
First, we learned about different countries and their cultures. It's so interesting to discover new things about the world! We studied the United Kingdom and learned about famous landmarks like Big Ben and the Tower of London. We also learned about American culture, including Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July. It's amazing how different countries have their own unique traditions!
Next, we focused on improving our speaking and listening skills. Our teacher often plays audio recordings for us to practice listening. We also have speaking activities where we can talk to
our classmates in English. It can be a bit challenging at times, but it's really fun to communicate in a different language.
One of my favorite topics this semester was food. We learned about different types of food from around the world. We even had a class party where we brought in dishes from different countries. I made sushi, and my friend brought pizza. It was a delicious and educational experience!
We also studied grammar and vocabulary. Sometimes, it can be a bit confusing, but our teacher always finds creative ways to make it easier for us. We play games, do group activities, and even watch English movies with subtitles. Learning English doesn't have to be boring!

Reviewing for the Big English Exam
Hey guys! Sarah here. Can you believe we're almost done with 8th grade already? It feels like just yesterday we were nervously walking through the doors on the first day, trying to find our lockers and classrooms. Now here we are, just a few weeks away from our big English final exam. I don't know about you, but I'm getting pretty stressed thinking about it!
This exam is supposed to cover everything we've learned all year in our PEP English textbook. That's a ton of vocabulary, grammar rules, reading comprehension skills, and writing practice to review. Where do we even start? I've been talking to some of my classmates, and it seems like we all have different strategies for preparing. Some are just re-reading through all the textbook units and doing the exercises again. Others are making flashcard decks with all the key words and going over them constantly. A few are just trying to power through a bunch of practice tests.
Personally, I'm taking kind of a combined approach. I started by going back through each unit in the textbook and making a list of all the major grammar points, vocabulary lists, comprehension skills, and writing styles we covered. Seeing it all written down like that was kind of overwhelming at first! But having that big-picture overview has helped me decide which areas need the most review.
For grammar, I'm focusing mainly on the trickier bits like reported speech, conditional sentences, passive voice, and the different verb tenses. I've been doing tons of practice exercises, having my parents quiz me, and watching videos explaining the
different grammar rules. It's all about repetition for me when it comes to internalizing those patterns.
Vocabulary is probably my biggest weakness. We've covered SO many new words this year within all the different topic areas and readings! I created digital flashcard decks sorted by theme - travel, environment, technology, etc. Whenever I have some free time, I've been running through a pack, seeing which words I've completely forgotten, and adding them to a "problem words" list to drill even harder. I'm also trying to use as many vocab words as possible in my daily writing and conversations to make them stick.
Reading comprehension doesn't worry me too much - if I'm being honest, I've always found that to be one of the easier parts of English class. But I am going back over some of the strategies we learned this year, like identifying main ideas, making inferences, defining words in context, and analyzing the author's purpose or tone. The textbook has a ton of great fiction and non-fiction passages to practice those skills with.
Writing is probably what I'm most nervous about for the exam. We've had to master so many different formats this year - emails, stories, persuasive essays, articles, reviews. And for each one, we need to make sure we're using the right level of
formality, organizing our ideas logically, incorporating persuasive or descriptive language as needed, avoiding basic grammar and spelling mistakes, and developing our points fully with relevant details and examples. That's a lot to juggle!
So for writing practice, I've started by looking back over all my graded assignments from the year. I'm studying my teacher's feedback to understand where my weaknesses are - do I need to work on thesis statements, transitions, conclusions, word choice? Then I find examples in the textbook that demonstrate those skills done well. After analyzing them, I'm doing my own writing prompts, trying to consciously apply what I've learned. It's slow progress, but I can feel my writing improving bit by bit.
I know it's going to be hard work getting through all this review, but I also know it will be worth it. The PEP English exam is really important, and doing well on it can open up lots of great opportunities for high school and beyond. If we stay focused and organized with our prep, I'm confident we can walk into that exam feeling calm, confident, and ready to show off everything we've learned this year.

My English Journey
Hello everyone! My name is Lily, and I'm a bright and energetic 8th-grade student. Today, I want to share with you my English learning journey using the textbook "English for Junior High School" by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
English has always been an exciting adventure for me. Since I started learning English in primary school, I have discovered a whole new world of possibilities. The textbook we are using in the second semester of 8th grade is full of interesting lessons and helpful exercises.

My Wonderful School Life

First of all, let me tell you about my school. Sunshine Elementary School is a big, beautiful, and colorful place. The school building is surrounded by a large playground where we can play different sports like soccer, basketball, and even badminton. We also have a lovely garden with colorful flowers and trees. It's such a pleasant sight!
In our school, we have amazing teachers who are always ready to help us learn and grow. They make our classes interesting and interactive. I mean, sure, I may have dozed off a couple of times during the lectures, but the activities and games really brought the lessons to life.
