很高兴能和大家一起为12年级毕业生这些年来所获得的成就喝彩。

首先让我们欢迎今天到场的特邀嘉宾。

Eric’s speech:
As I look at the graduates, I must say that all of you look wonderful. It’s nice to see everyone follow a dress code for once! Over the past ten months, I have had the chance to get to know most of you. We’ve had some really good times. We’ve also had times where you have driven me crazy, such as when you are yelling in class, and I don’t speak Chinese, so I don’t understand why you’re yelling. Or when you try to give me a cake and tell me that the fruit on it is Blueberries, and NOT grapes, when in fact it is Cherries. I hope you wrote about that instance of irony on your English 12 exam, Cherry. You’ve made me laugh, you’ve made me yell, but most importantly, you’ve made me proud. I look at each of you here today, and even though I did not have the opportunity to teach all of you, I still was able to get a sense of who you are. I want to thank you for making me feel welcome in a new school. For treating me like a teacher you’ve known for years. For seeing me in the hallway and smiling and saying “hello”. Those things make a difference. If I can give you any advice before you all head out on separate journeys, it is this: keep being yourselves. Stay true to who you are and never let anyone tell you what you cannot do. Always be you; you cannot spell beautiful without it. Thank you and enjoy YOUR night.
当我注视着毕业生们，我想说你们真的都很棒。

我终于能看见你们所
有人都能统一着装了。

在过去的10个月里，我得以认识你们，并且一
起度过了难忘而快乐的时光。

但是，当你们大声在教室喊叫，不懂中文的我一脸茫然，我感觉自己要疯掉了。

还有一次你们送给我一块蛋糕，还跟我强调蛋糕上面的是蓝莓，不是葡萄，但实际上面放的是樱桃。

真希望你们能在英语12省考的时候用讽刺的修辞手法把这个“樱桃事件”写进去。

有时你们让我很开心，有时把我气得歇斯底里，但是，你们让我骄傲。

今天我看着你们每一个人，虽然有些人我没有教过，但是我们还是认识的。

谢谢你们在我刚到这个学校时热情的接受我。

像对待老朋友一样对待我。

你们在学校见到我会热情的和我打招呼。

这些真的很让我感动。

从今以后你们就要各自踏上旅途，如果说让我在这个时候给你们一些建议，那就是：坚持做你们自己！做真正的自己，永远不要让别人左右。

Thank you to all of our delegates for their words of wisdom. It’s now time for the graduates to receive their school-leaving certificates. I’d like to invite Mr. Provan to the stage for that.

All of our graduates deserve recognition for what they’ve achieved. But a few of them stand out amongst their peers. These are students who have excelled in their studies and have shown themselves to be at the top of their class, from their first moments in this school right until the end of grade 12. These are our award winners.
所有毕业生们所获得的成就都是值得认可的，但是他们当中一些人的表现更加引人注目。

他们能从始至终的在学业上不断提高，取得优异的成绩。

他们就是这些奖项的获得者。

We will start with the awards for the Chinese program and follow with awards for the Canadian program. I’d like to invite Ms Liu to the stage to present the Chinese awards.我们将相继颁发中加方的各种奖项。

Thank you Ms Liu. Next we have the awards for the Canadian program. We are presenting 3 awards; I will give an explanation of each one just before presenting it.

Thank you Ms Liu. Just before we hand out the awards from our Canadian program, we would like to present a scholarship to one of our students from the British Columbia Ministry of Education. The International Student Ambassador Scholarship is awarded to a student studying at a BC school in China, Korea, or Japan. The winner must be someone who is excellent academically, has a strong English level, and is active in extra-curricular activities. Every BC school in those three countries nominated a student for this scholarship, and we are very proud to say that the nominee from our school is the winner. Ladies and gentlemen, please join me congratulating Alexia Bai Xinling!

现在宣布加拿大BC省奖学金获得者。

国际生特使奖学金奖项是颁发给正在BC省中日韩海外校区的在读学生。

中日韩三个校区各自提名一位优秀学生，我很荣幸的向大家宣布，我们国际部的提名者最终获此殊荣。

Next we have the awards for the Canadian program. We are presenting 3 awards; I will give an explanation of each one just before presenting it.
下面开始颁发另外三个加方奖项，在颁奖之前，我们将为大家做简单介绍。

First up is the English Award, to be presented by Mr. Dock.
The English Award is given to the top English student as selected by Mr. Dock. Our winner is someone who has shown a serious dedication to improving her English all year long. Her reading and writing abilities now rival many native English speakers, and she stands apart from her peers in her willingness to exceed expectations and continue her growth.
首先是由Dock先生颁发的英语奖。

获奖者由Dock先生提名。

只有那些自始至终投身于英语学习并且成绩优异的学生才有资格获奖。

这位获奖者为了不负老师的期望，实现个人的成长，她不断努力，最终超越了同龄人，并且她的英语读写水平已经可以与很多英语是母语的人媲美。

Our next award is the Citizenship Award, to be presented by Mr. Chong.
The Citizenship Award goes to the student who best demonstrates the qualities of a model citizen of our school, both inside and outside the classroom. Our winner has been an outstanding student in both of those areas. Academically, she is one of the top few students in the grade; her performance and her work ethic have been excellent in each one of her classes. Outside of the classroom, she has put hours and hours of her time into improving our school community, primarily by being the organizer of the basketball, handball, and badminton tournaments. Through the way that she takes responsibility and initiative she has shown herself to be a leader in our school, and she has earned the respect of both her peers and her teachers.
下面请加方校长Mr.Chong颁发公民奖。

公民奖是颁给那些，不论是课上还是课下，行为举止都能最好诠释一名合格公民形象的学生。

学业上，他们是班里的佼佼者，他们的一言一行也堪称同学们的楷模。

他们会利用课余时间投身于公共事业，改善校区环境，帮助组织篮球手球等各项体育赛事。

她的这种责任心和主人翁精神，足以使她获得了同学老师们的认可，并成为同学们的引领者.
Our last award is for the Top Academic Student, to be presented by Ms. Yufang Sun. This award goes to the student with the best academic record in the graduate class. Our winner is an extremely impressive young man. He is the top student in both math and science, with all of his marks in those areas ranging from 97 to 100%. He is also among the top few students in both English and the humanities. If you asked any of his teachers about him, they would say he’s got a strong combination of high level intelligence and unbelievable work habits. Speaking personally, I’m not sure if I have ever met another person with as much dedication to his studies as this gentleman. He has a very bright future ahead of him, and we’re all excited to see where he ends up.
下面由孙玉芳女士颁发最佳学生奖。

此奖颁发给在毕业生当中学业成绩最优异的学生。

我们的获奖者是一位非常优秀的年轻人。

他是数学和科学的双料冠军，并且他在这两门科目的成绩均超过了97分！并且他的英语和文科成绩也相当优异。

如果询问他的各科老师，他们会异口同声地说，他就是高智商和优秀学习习惯的结合体。

就个人来说，我可能还真没见过这么求知若渴的年轻人。

等待他的将是锦绣前程，让我们翘首以待他今后将要取得的成就！

Earlier Mr. Selley spoke about his impressions of you as someone who met you this year. Now I’m going to say a few words from the point of view of someone who has watched you grow since you started this program. I’ve got to know you quite well in that time, having taught most of you for 3 or 4 different classes, and I have endured many things. I taught Kim for 5 semesters in a row, and I know the only reason she kept taking my class is because she likes making fun of me. For 5 semesters I put up with Frank’s nonstop suggestions that I show more movies in class, including this semester when I w asn’t even teaching him. I’ve been called a pienze, I’ve been drowned out by choruses of “Aiyou!”, and I have been alubed without mercy. Yes, it’s been an interesting three years. But I have loved every moment of it (except for the alubas). You are the kinds of students that
make teaching a wonderful job. It’s not because you always show up to class on time (you don’t), and it’s not because you’re always quiet and obedient (you’re absolutely not). It’s because you’re good people. It’s because you’re friendly, and funny, and interesting to talk to. I’m happy that I’ve got to know you all on a personal level, and I’m even happier to say that I genuinely like the people you are.Not all teachers can say that about their students, and I’m very lucky to have taug ht you as often as I did. Now
you’re moving on to the next stage of life, and I want to say two things to
you before you go. First, while you strive for success, remember that you
will go as far as your work ethic takes you. If you want no limits on what
you can achieve, there must first be no limits on the amount of work you are willing to do. Second, remember that what’s even more important than being a successful person is being a good person. As you get older you will grow and change in all kinds of ways. But the goodness that I see as I look at you now: I hope that never changes. On behalf of all the teachers, we love you,
we will remember you, and we hope you stay in touch. Now go and make us proud. Thank you.
刚才Selley先生从一名新教师的角度谈了谈对大家的印象。

那么我是
从你们开始上高中的一刻起就看着你们成长的，请让我从一名老教师
的角度来谈一谈。

我教过你们大多数人至少3至4门不同的学科，所
以我对你们可以说是相当了解，而且，我也想说，“我也真是受够了
你们了！”我连着教了Kim同学5个学期，而且他不停的和其他同学说，他之所以一直选我的课，就是因为“他总能逗我玩儿”。

一连5
个学期，我都要忍受着Frank不停地给我提出一个教学建议--- 上课应
该多放点电影。

这学期我都不教他了，但他还是追着我建议我上课多
放些电影。

我曾经被你们戏称为骗子，曾经被湮没在你们的抱怨声中，我还曾经无情的被你们锯过。

是的，这是快乐的三年时光，我珍惜这
三年中的一点一滴（当然，除了被你们锯的时候）。

是你们让教书变
成了一份快乐的工作。

不是因为你们每次都准时到课（你们从不准时！），也不是因为你们上课安静又乖乖（你们绝对不乖乖！）因为
你们都是善良的好人。

你们友善，幽默，和你们聊天很有意思。

我很
庆幸能和你们每一个人成为好朋友，而且我真的非常喜欢你们！你们
马上就要登上你们的人生新舞台，在此我想给你们两条建议。

第一，
当你们为了成功而努力奋斗的时候，请牢记，你的职业道德才是决定
你最终高度的东西。

如果你想获得巨大的成功，那么首先你要心甘情
愿的付出巨大的努力。

第二，更重要的一点就是，要想做一名成功的人，你需要先做一名好人。

渐渐地随着年龄的增长，你们会发生各种
各样的变化。

但是，当我现在看着你们，看着你们身上的种种优点，我真希望这些优点会永远保留在你们身上不要变。

我代表所有老师对你们说，我爱你们，永远不会忘了你们，保持联系。

走吧，孩子们，记得一定要让我们骄傲。
