定义 4：系统、战略协调论 供应链管理是对公司内部以及供应链中的传统职能和手段的系统、战略性的 协调，以提高具体公司以及供应链伙伴的长远绩效。这个定义由 University of Tennessee 的 Mentzer 教授等人于 2022 年提出，原文如下：

这个定义由两个教授在 1990 年的一篇文章中提出：Lisa Ellram 和 Martha Cooper。当时 Lisa Ellram 在 Ohio State University 读博士，Martha Cooper 要么也在读博士，要么在任教。笔者在亚利桑那州立大学时曾为 Lisa Ellram 做研究助理。这个定义从整体上讲与定义 1 是相通的。原文如下：
