篇1
Dear Linda,
I hope this letter finds you feeling a little better. I was so sorry to hear you've been really sick with the flu and had to miss so much school. It's just not the same without you here!
First off, I want you to know that everyone misses you and is asking about you constantly. Mr. Robinson even mentioned in English class how much he hopes you'll be back soon as we're starting a really interesting unit on poetry analysis. You know how much you love digging into those metaphors and symbols! Chelsea said to tell you she's keeping extremely detailed notes for you on everything you're missing. Though let's be honest, her handwriting is atrocious so maybe I'll make you a copy of mine instead.
I can't wait for you to get back so you can fill me in on all the juicy gossip I've missed while you've been away. Did you hear that Jessica and Michael broke up? Apparently he was caught flirting with Amanda at Kyle's party. Can you believe it? After
being together for almost two years! The rumor is that Jessica is absolutely devastated. I don't know all the details but you know I'll get to the bottom of it once you return. I need my partner in crime!
Speaking of parties, there's one coming up this weekend at Tyler's house that I think we should definitely go to. I know, I know, we said we were going to take a break from the party scene for a while after what happened at Emily's last month. But this one is supposed to be really low-key and chill. Just a few friends hanging out, maybe playing some beer pong or watching a movie. It could be just what you need to get your mind off being sick! Though no pressure at all if you're still not feeling up for it. I'll keep you updated on the details.
Have you started thinking about college applications yet? I can't believe we're almost seniors! It feels like just yesterday we were starting our freshman year, getting lost trying to find our classrooms and eating lunch in the bathroom stalls because we didn't know where else to go. We've come a long way! Mr. Davis's office still has a bunch of brochures and info if you want to start looking into schools. I'm thinking maybe we could go on a couple college visits together over spring break? My mom said it would be fun for the whole family to take a road trip and tour
some campuses. As long as you don't mind putting up with my little brother's annoying jokes the whole time!
On that note, have you given any more thought to what you might want to study? I know we talked over the summer about you maybe being interested in psychology or social work. It seems like a great fit for someone as caring and insightful as you are. Personally, I'm leaning towards either English or Communications. I just love reading, writing, and exploring how we use language to communicate ideas. Maybe I could be an author or work in journalism! Though who knows, I could still change my mind a million times before we actually have to apply.
Classes have been pretty uneventful without you here. Mostly just reviewing for finals and finishing up any last units before the semester ends. I will say, I'm extremely relieved we're finally done with that ridiculously hard Physics unit on thermodynamics. I must have redone those heat transfer calculations a thousand times! Thank goodness you were around to help me study for that test because I definitely would have failed without you. You explain that kind of stuff so clearly. Fingers crossed there's nothing that intense on upcoming finals!
Oh, I almost forgot! The spring musical is coming up soon too. Ms. Harris was asking for me if I thought you'd want to be involved again this year. I know how much you loved being a part of the ensemble for Little Shop of Horrors last year. Let me know if you want me to sign you up! It'll be a great way to be back with your theater kid family once you're feeling better. Maybe you could even audition for a lead role this time around? I've heard your voice has been sounding amazing recently.
Anyway, I should probably wrap this up so I can get started on my mountain of homework for the night. I can't wait for you to come back. First period Spanish is just torturous without you to help me conjugate all those ridiculous verb tenses. Who decided a language needed that many different ways to say "I walked"?? I don't know how I'll survive until you return.
Please please please feel better soon. The squad isn't complete without our beloved Linda here. Take all the time you need to rest up, keep chugging that orange juice and chicken noodle soup, and come back to us just as soon as you're ready. We miss you so much!
Your friend always,
[Your Name]

Dear Linda,
I hope this letter finds you feeling a bit better. The whole class was really worried when we heard you were sick and had to be hospitalized. It's just not the same without your smiling face and positive energy in our English literature class.
I can't even imagine how tough it must be stuck in that hospital bed, feeling miserable and bored out of your mind. I know how much you love being active and involved in everything at school. Between the academic clubs, theatre group, and volunteering, you always seem to have a million things going on. This forced rest and recuperation must be driving you absolutely crazy!
At the same time, I hope you're taking it easy and allowing your body to fully heal. You've got to listen to those doctors and nurses. I know how stubborn and impatient you can be sometimes when it comes to resting. But you need to put your health first right now. School, activities, and everything else can wait. The most important thing is getting back on your feet and bouncing back to your usual energetic, enthusiastic self.
The class certainly hasn't been the same without you. Mrs. Thompson is still her usual quirky self, going on passionate tangents about obscure literary references that leave the rest of us utterly confused. But without you there to listen attentively, ask insightful questions, and steer the discussion in an interesting direction, her lectures have felt a bit aimless. We're all sort of drifting through readings and assignments until you're back to be the shining literary star.
Speaking of assignments, I've taken it upon myself to take incredibly detailed notes for you so you don't fall behind. You know I'm usually the one spacing out and struggling to follow along in that class. But I've been surprisingly diligent, I promise! Maybe a part of me is trying to channel your sterling student energy. In any case, you'll have a massively thick stack of notebooks waiting to help you catch up when you're back.
Of course, the notes probably won't make much sense without your brilliant literary mind to decipher my chicken scratch handwriting and illuminate the deeper meanings. That's why we need you back here as soon as possible, Linda! This place just isn't the same without your passion for literature and ability to analyze works in such thoughtful, profound ways.
I'm not the only one who misses you, either. Nathan has been an absolute wreck without his study partner. You know how he can be, stressing himself out endlessly over every little assignment and grade. Without you there to calmly keep him grounded and reassure him that he's a literary genius, the poor guy has been tying himself up in knots. He forces us to proofread his essays for him obsessively now, desperate for validation and approval in your absence. It's pretty sad, actually.
Then there's Jessica, who seems completely lost without her fellow theatre queen to giggle, gossip, and geek out over Broadway shows with. She's been moping around like she lost her other half. I catch her staring wistfully at the empty desk beside her in English lit way too often. Maybe it's for the best though, because those two can be quite insufferable together sometimes with their performing arts banter.
Even the basketball jocks seem a bit dejected that their biggest fan isn't around to cheer them on anymore. Matt has been hopelessly zoning out in class, I suspect because he misses your encouraging smiles and motivating pep talks before games. He hasn't been the same on the court without you hyping him up as his self-appointed hype woman.
You see, Linda, you make such a bigger impact than you realize. This whole school has a little less light, laughter, and life without your shining spirit around. We're all just going through the motions, counting down the days until our friend returns to brighten up our world again.
So please, get better soon! Follow the doctors' orders, take all your medications, eat as much horrible hospital food as you can choke down, and don't even think about trying to sneak out early, young lady! We need you back here, happy, healthy, and whole again.
This class, this school, this world...it just isn't the same without you.
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery, with all my heart.
Your friend,

Dear Linda,
I hope this letter finds you feeling a little better. The whole class misses having your bright smile and positive energy around. Things just aren't the same without you here.
I have so much to update you on from the last couple of weeks that you've been out. I'll try my best to cover all the major events, but you know how forgetful I can be sometimes, so I may miss a few details here and there. If I do, I'm sure the other girls will fill you in when they write.
Let's start with the big science project that was due last Friday. You remember how Mr. Roberts assigned us those massive research projects on environmental topics back in January? Well, the due date finally rolled around, and I have to say, presenting my project was one of the most nerve-wracking experiences of my life so far! I researched the effects of rising ocean temperatures on coral reef ecosystems, and I felt pretty confident about my material...until I actually had to present it in front of the whole class.
My hands were shaking so badly when I first stepped up to the front of the room. I could feel my heart pounding out of my chest! I stumbled over my words quite a bit during the introduction, but once I settled in, things started to flow a little better. Although I did totally blank when Mr. Roberts asked me that curveball question about potential conservation efforts. Ugh, my mind just went completely blank! So embarrassing. At least
he gave me partial credit for attempting an answer, rather than just standing there like a deer in headlights.
I definitely could have used your support and reassurance up there during my presentation. You always were so good at keeping me calm and focused with your little pep talks before any kind of public speaking. Hopefully my project went well enough to keep my grade in science from slipping too much while you've been gone. I know how important keeping my GPA up is for getting into a good college program next year. I'll just have to step it up on the next few assignments.
Speaking of assignments, I have a ton of makeup work piling up for you from all the classes you've missed. I've tried my best to keep up with getting handwritten notes from the teachers each day, but it's been really difficult juggling that on top of keeping up with my own work in every subject. You're going to have one massive binder of notes waiting for you whenever you're feeling up to coming back. Just let me know if any of my chicken-scratch handwriting is illegible and I'll do my best to
re-write anything you can't decipher.
On a lighter note, you're probably dying to hear all the school gossip and drama that's been going down while you've been away, aren't you? Well, brace yourself... there's been a lot!
First off, did you hear that Brittany and Ryan broke up? Again? Yeah, it happened on Monday after an explosive argument during lunch period. Apparently, he was catching a lot of flack from his friends about being whipped, which put him in a foul mood even before bumping into Brittany that afternoon. The two of them just went at it right there in the hallway between classes, screaming and cursing at each other up a storm. I've never seen them fight that badly before. We all thought for sure that this split was going to be the one that stuck. But what do you know, they ended up reuniting again at Jessica's party on Friday night! Could anyone around here really be surprised though? Those two just can't quit each other.
Ooh, and then there's the whole situation with Samantha and Mr. Wilkins, the young, hot English literature teacher. I probably shouldn't go spreading this around too much since it's just a rumor at this point. But you know I'd tell you everything, Linda! Word on the street is that Samantha has a huge crush on Mr. Wilkins and has been makingPlays for his attention both inside and outside of class. During his lectures, she always makes sure to slip in fawning comments about how "amazingly brilliant" he is and how she "hangs on to every word" he says. Then after class, she lingers behind to ask him questions unrelated to the course material, like asking for dating advice or
chatting about TV shows they both watch. A couple people also claim to have seen her hanging around his car after school, seemingly waiting for him. I really try not to get involved with gossip too much, but come on... Mr. Wilkins is pretty cute and exactly the type of older guy I could see high school Samantha crushing on hard. I just hope she's not taking it too far and doesn't wind up doing anything embarrassing that could get her in trouble!
Omg, I almost forgot the wildest story of all! You're probably going to die when you hear this one... You know Sarah's boyfriend, Kyle? Apparently he has a secret Twitter account where he's been promoting get-rich-quick cryptocurrency scams and sketchy online gambling sites! No one could believe it when the account was discovered and we all realized it was actually him behind it. Some of the stuff he's posted is pretty outrageous too - lots of baseless crypto price predictions, shady affiliate links, you name it. He claims he was just doing some "entrepreneurial side hustles" for extra cash and that it's no big deal. But I could totally see the school taking major disciplinary action against him if the right people catch wind of what he's been up to online. He may have really shot himself in the foot over a few bucks!
Whew, I really went on a tangent with all that gossip, didn't I? Promise you won't share any of those details with the rest of the school though. I just thought you deserved to be filled in on all the juicy stuff you've been missing out on! Although now that I think about it, maybe it's a good thing you haven't had to deal with any of that high school drama while resting up and recovering.
I really do hope you start feeling 100% again very soon, Linda. Not a single day goes by that someone doesn't comment about how much they miss your presence around the halls and classrooms. You definitely leave a Lindsay-shaped hole in our friend group that no one else can fill. Just focus on taking good care of yourself for now though. The work will be waiting here for you whenever you're ready to dive back in. If you ever need anything at all from me - class notes, assignments, homework help, a listening ear, you name it - please don't hesitate to reach out. I'll be here for you every step of the way.
Get well soon, bestie!
Xoxo,
[Your name]。
