research and to the development of new varieties. 20世纪六十年代，他产生了种植一种杂交水稻的想法。

（1）come up with意思是“产生；发觉”。

如：
He could not come up with an answer. 他想不出答案来。

（2）in the 1960s意思是“在20世纪60年代”，表示“在几多世纪几多年代”的布局：in the+年代+s/’s . 如：in the 1990s或in the 1990’s（20世纪90年代）。

但注意不能丢掉the. 2. B ecause of Yuan Longping’s hard work, China now produces enough rice to feed her people.由于袁隆平老师的辛勤奋动，现在中国每年都生产出足够天下人民食用的水稻。

Because of意思是“由于，因为”，后接名词、代词或v-ing形式。

相近短语有：on account of, thanks to, owing to等。

Because用来引导原因状语从句，相近的词或词组有：since, as, for, now that等。

注意下面区别：because it rained yesterday, I didn’t go to the meeting.
Because of yesterday’s rain, I didn’t go to the meeting.昨天由于下雨，我没去到场会议。

since then意为“自那以后”，常用于现在完成时。
