The nominal clause
1. It seemed that everything went wrong this morning. 2. It just happened that he was out of town. 3. It doesn’t matter how he did it. The nominal clause used as the subject. 4. It all depends on whether it will be fine or not. The nominal clause used as the object. 5. I find it odd that you should set the clock one hour ahead in summer. The nominal clause used as the postponed object.

The uses of the introductory "it" 1) It as the introductory subject for a nominal clause e.g. It’s a pity that you missed the concert. It’s very strange that the twins died at the same time. 2) It as the introductory subject for an infinitive e.g. It's difficult to remember words in isolation. It makes me angry to hear you talk like that. 3) It as the introductory subject for –ing participle e.g. It's no use crying over spilt milk. It’s not much fun picking up broken glass. It’s enjoyable sitting in the sun.
