Today there are some kinds of dictionaries for you to choose. You can find dictionaries with American English, with British English, and even with pictures. But the most popular dictionaries among many students are bilingual(双语的) electronic dictionaries（电子词典）.
Bilingual electronic dictionaries are fast and easy. All you need to do is to type in a word in your language and you can see it and hear it in English. It can be great when you need information quickly.
In fact, I am against electronic dictionaries and even paper dictionaries. Translating between languages in your head may take too much time. You should translate as little as possible and you should think in English as much as possible.
I also feel that paper dictionaries are better for studying than electronic dictionaries. True, they take longer to use. But the information you look up seems to stay in your head longer. It may be because you have to spell the word in your head. And in this way, you “see it” more clearly in your mind.
